Is there a similar 'setkeycodes' utility in Solaris?

I'm currently working on using an LK461-A2 keyboard for Solaris on x86. There are 6 keys not working. I was able to get them working on Linux by using the setkeycodes utility to map the scan code to an appropriate key code.
Keyboard Key      Key Scan code     Key Code Mapped
F13     E03D     189
F14     E03E     190
Help     E03F     191
Do     E040     192
F17     E041     193
Is there a similar utility in solaris that can be used to map scancodes to keycodes?
I would greatly appreciate a possible solution.
Thank you.

I am just starting a project in Java (my first java project). I am wondering whether there is a concept in java that similar to the structure in C or C++.In C++ a struct and a class is exactly the same (apart from two minor differences).
The C++ concept of a struct/class is supplied in Java by three language elements with different properties, namely the class, the interface and the enum.
In my c++ projects, I used to define all my structures in a single file (say structures.cpp) and included the file in other files wherever I need. Is there a way to do similar thing in Java?How classes are distributed on files is not a Java language issue. It's a question for your development system. Most development system allow you to have one public class on each .java file only. So I suggest you nest the "structs" like this,
public class Struct {
   public static class One {
   public static class Two {
   public static class Three {
   // etcetera
}The above can be kept on a single .java file and you just import it whenever you need any of the Struct classes.
The nested "structs" will behave like ordinary Javav classes apart from their naming. Their names must be qualified with the name of the outer class like Struct.One, Struct.Two, etcetera.

  • Is there to find an FTP utility for solaris 8?

    Prefered without root permissions.
    I'm not sure if it's the correct forum for such a question, but it's the closest one I've found.

    Not sure if this is what you are looking for. Root under Solaris 8 does not have permission unless you edit /etc/ftpusers. As far as an FTP utility under Solaris, it already exists and is executed with ftp <I.P address>

  • Is there a similar file to windows\ssytem32\drivers\etc\hosts in OS X

    Hi,
    I am running a Windows 2003 Server with several websites. I would like to view my websites from my new Imac, however I keep getting prompted for the user name and password for the router.
    In windows on my old computer I could edit the file C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\etc\hosts with the IP address and URL of the site and it would open. Is there a similar file in the Mac OS X 10.5.7 software.
    Many Thanks in anticipation

    Adding host records by editing the /etc/hosts file is not entirely reliably. Since Leopard, some people have reported issues of the added host records "mysteriously" disappearing, or Apache not being able to properly resolve the added hosts. The bigger issue is that the modifications in the /etc/hosts file can create unwanted side effects in the normal functioning of services like the mail server and others.
    Since Leopard, there has been an alternate way to add host records using the dscl utility. In fact, by many, it is considered the better, more reliable, and safer method.
    You can read this recent article to see how its done:
    http://tomafro.net/2009/07/dscl-the-easy-way-to-add-hosts-on-osx
    There are a number of additional articles on the web about using dscl for adding host records to OS X.
    The choice, of course, is yours. If you are using the /etc/hosts file without issue, then it might be safe to continue doing so. But, if your system starts experiencing domain name resolution issues or problems with services such as the mail server, you should consider switching to and using the dslocal database to manage your host records.

  • Help me backup my G4 with OS 9.1 -- is there an easy backup utility?

    Hi all,
    My old Mac G4 is teetering on death, and I just want to get one good backup before it dies... I've been using Retrospect Express, attempting to backup to a Acomdata firewire hard drive (300 GB). What happens is that I get a crazy set of data files (150 of them, at 2 GB each) which fill up my entire firewire drive. The original data totals +less than 120 GB+, so I don't know what's going on. I've posted a question on the Retrospect forum, but so far have not gotten any responses.
    My question for you is, is there an alternate backup utility I can use for Mac OS 9.1? I'd love to find something similar to what I use to backup my MacIntel with Tiger:
    http://www.shirt-pocket.com/SuperDuper/SuperDuperDescription.html
    This company doesn't seem to offer anything for OS 9.
    Here are my specs:
    Mac G4, OS 9.1
    Retrospect Express Backup, Version 5.1.175
    I have two internal hard drives, one with three partitions, one with two partitions. The two drives together equal about 120 GB. I'm trying to back up to an external hard drive -- Acomdata USB 2.0 & Firewire 400 drive (300 GB).
    I've reformatted the external hard drive with Mac OS Extended Journal, and have examined it for errors, and it appears to be fine.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks!

    Hi, tunewizardry -
    As I understand it, if I simply copy over the internal drives in the way you described, I wouldn't actually be able to use the applications from the backup disk. Is this right?
    Not exactly.
    Some OS 9 apps install support files of some kind in the System Folder for the OS running the machine at the time of installation. Many others don't - and those that don't will run quite well regardless of where the OS is that is used to boot the machine.
    However - by copying the entire hard drive over to the backup drive, you also capture the System Folder for OS 9 which you've been using as the boot OS. This means it already has copies of any support files needed by an application also copied to the backup drive.
    Unlike OSX, an OS 9 System Folder is usable after a simple Finder copy (drag and drop) process. Provided your machine is firewire bootable, you can use the copied OS to boot the machine.
    All you need do to make the System Folder usable that way after copying the entire drive is to move the System Folder out of the folder it was placed in, so that it is at the root level of the drive; and also move the Documents and Applications (Mac OS 9) folders out of the folder to the root level of the drive. The root level of the drive is what you see when you first open the drive's icon.
    You may also need to "fix" a few aliases, since the pathname in them will not be changed. If you do a Get Info on an alias's icon, there's a Select New Original button presented - use that to reset (fix) the alias so it is linked to the proper original now on the backup drive. These aliases can include one to Sherlock in the Apple Menu Items folder in System Folder; perhaps a few folder aliases in the Application Support folder in System Folder;and perhaps a few others you may have created for your own use.
    Once you've done that, you not only have a backup of your data, you also have a backup boot drive with a full array of data files and programs.
    One other advantage of doing a full drive backup is that you also capture anything left lying around on the desktop, and anything left in the Trash. Each of those sets will be placed in separate folders, named Desktop and Trash respectively, in the folder created by the copy process on the backup drive (the folder named the same as the original drive).
    Typically that's the way I install an OS initially on a firewire drive (unless it's OSX) - copy my known good and complete System Folder from my primary drive to the firewire drive. Without exception they have always been bootable immediately.
    About using a firewire drive for booting - speed is a bit slower than an internal drive, but not slower than a CD. As far as selecting it for booting goes, the easiest way to do that (especially if your primary drive has just cratered) is to use Startup Manager to select it during the boot process.

  • How can I open multiple "non-merged" firefox windows? With IE, I would use the "-nomerge" option. Is there something similar for Firefox?

    I use a website in my daily work activities that I need to have multiple sessions of the website open at any given time. Natively, I cannot have multiple sessions open in a single browser (separated tabs or separate windows) without one session taking over the other. Internet Explorer has a command line option (-nomerge) that will allow me to accomplish what I need. The target line of the IE shortcut properties would look like this:
    "C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe" -nomerge
    Is there a similar solution for Firefox?
    I am running Windows 7, IE11 and Firefox 26

    No, Apple does not. What other companies might provide what you're looking for I don't know. Try searching the web for "karaoke software" or something similar.

    Whats do you mean by a native virtual machine?
    Java is implemented by a virtual machine. The command to invoke it is called "java".
    A virtual machine is by definition a system to implement a virtual copy of one architecture on another. Which virtual architecture are you interested in finding an implementation of?

    I setup logdir,datadir and envdir into different directories with
    the functions set_data_dir and set_log_dir.I created two directories
    under the datadir and created more than 100 sub-directories
    respectively for the two dir, where the 2000 databases located.By the way, even though it doesn't seem likely to be the cause of the
    memory leak, you should still fix this illegal usage of subdirectories
    before we get much further investigating. We might as well eliminate
    any possible source of problem, no matter how unlikely it seems.
    Also, just as an experiment, I would be very tempted to try running
    again without using any separate directories. In other words, don't
    call set_data_dir or set_log_dir at all, and just let everything be
    put into the one single directory. If that changes the results, that
    will be a big clue to help us know where to look for the problem.
    I'am writting a demo , but it take time.
    i will reply later .Thank you. Take your time -- we'll be here.

    No, I'm afraid not.  However, you can drop a clip from in to out into the timeline and the hit CMD+R and grab the end, changing the length of the clip to fit in the space that you need by speeding up the clip.
    Hope that helps.

    You probably should have used the other thread:

    To add a little confusion to the matter...Class objects are in fact objects. They're objects representing classes. So, in a sense, I guess, you could say they're similar -- in each you get an object. But in practice Class objects and all other objects should be considered semantically different unless you're doing some pretty unusual stuff. Also Class.forName is more of a factory method than a constructor.

    Is there an Adobe-sanctioned utility to certify a valid PDF file?
    ...other than Acrobat, that is.
    I am gathering enough courage to start modifying and creating something that hopefully will resemble a valid PDF file. I already did this years ago, with PostScript files. How much harder can it be?

    When Adobe has a product already capable of performing a certain function, they usually won't "sanction" a 3rd party utility that performs the same function. That just plain doesn't make any business sense.
    The only other tool Adobe releases that will have anything comparable to Preflight in Acrobat will be LiveCycle PDF Generator, and it will be a much more complex and costly solution (especially just to validate PDFs) than a copy of Acrobat.
    Aandi is right. PostScript and PDF are completely different from a writing standpoint. While you may be able to create simple PDFs as a text file and have them interpreted properly, when you get into font subsetting and annotations and many of the advanced features a PDF offers, trying to create a PDF by hand becomes near-impossible. Use the available libraries - they are worth the price.
