Is there a sliding trouble in Nokia C6 phone?

Now i have a nokia 5800xm phone. I like buy a nokia C6 phone (because of C6 has best stylish homescreen, customize widgets, 5pxl camera & good sound quality ect....) But somebody says slide phone face hardware problem. (They mean, between phone keypad and display connectivity cable). Please explain me. Thank you.

I don't know if the C6 itself has a problem but in general Nokia slide phones are quite robust. If it's built anything like the 5200 then you have nothing to worry about for years. Probably even until you have to replace the handset.
My 5200 is over 5 years old now and the cable still hasn't been damaged. it only got disconnected on the screen side once(after 4 years of use) and it was very easy to fix because I had the right tools.
Hopefully other C6 owners can comment and help you decide. I don't think you have anything to worry about though. Just make sure that if you drop the phone it is closed

Ok. I read just about everything on in this discussion group and Apple notes.
I then declared all out war on this this evening. I won.
Here's what I did:
1. Assumption - you have Norton AV or Norton System Works installed. I suppose it will work if you have NIS installed.
2. Removed ALL my anti-spyware programs (i.e. Spybot 1.3 and Microsoft's Anti-Spyware).
3. Rebooted.
4. Opened up Norton AV settings in Norton System Works and selected Internet Worm Protection.
5. Under Applications - Added iTunes and iTunes Helper. Set operation to PERMIT ALL.
6. Under "General Rules", I added a new rule named "iTunes".
7. Under the "Communications Tab", I added a rule to allow UDP traffic to both local and remote ports 5353.
8. Rebooted.
9. This time, when the system started, I got a message indicating that "application iTunes is trying to access the internet." Clicked on "Remember and allowed the operation.
At this point, things started working.
The removal of the Anti-spyware programs MAY or MAY NOT be necessary. I will add them back in to see if they make any difference or not.
Now - Apple, my suggestion to you is to PUBLISH the ports and protocols and network targets. I was only able to gleam the ports used because Sygate indicated that iTunes was using UDP port 5353 to communicate.
Anyway, for those of you with this problem and are running ANY of the programs mentioned here, try my recommended course of action.

Why I am asking this question is my Nokia 6600 fold went faulty (see note below about this) and has been replaced by O2 with a Nokia 6700 slide. Now I don't like slide phones so I bought a 7020 fold on eBay.
What I am looking for is an adapter for these phones (each have 2.5 mm AV connector) that will allow me to connect my noise cancelling headphone's 3.5 mm jack to (I was able to do this on the adapter that came with my 6600 fold phone).
I googled and found that one option may be the Nokia AD-44 but I am not sure it will work with either the Nokia 6700 slide or 7020 fold.
So my question, is there a list somewhere of Nokia phones that the AD-44 adapter will work with?
Note: the faulty Nokia 6600 fold phone was a replacement for the original Nokia 6600 fold phone and both have had the well documented 'm, n, o' problem when sending a message that locked the phone and all that could be done was to power off!

I can't promise this is ALL th ehandsets though, since the list is quite old. Also I am almost certain that this adaptor converts Nokia 2.5mm to Nokia 3.5mm, Nokia connectors are different to a standard headphone as there is an additional connection for voice.
If using non -Nokia headphones you may need a further adaptor.

Can you provide us your phone model? One possible reason why the phone hangs is that there is not enough memory available to carry out phone functions. You can move your data files from phone to memory card (provided that your phone supports Memory Card). If still the same, you can try to restore the phone to its factory settings as indicated on your manual.

Trouble with Nokia 6680 and iSync

I have a Nokia 6680 and an iMac. Recently I wanted to clean up my contact list but I'm having problems in this.
Contacts created in the phone get transfered to my computer with iSync easy, but I can't transfer all my contacts created in my iMac to the Nokia 6680.
It used to work sincronizing a hundred contacts, but now I can't do it with 40 or 50. It's supposed to work all the ways but it doesn't.
What should I do? Is there any kind of limitation with my phone or iSync?

It seems to be impossible to get in touch with Nokia developers. They are probably on vacation..
We've struggled with this for about 2 weeks now,and the most likely reason is:
1. It's a bug
2. The locator url has changed since the phone has two cameras.

with due respect I like to inform u that You Nokia supplied so many manufacturer defective phone that so many SWAP code Belle update request is here, Nokia flooded the market with so many defective phone.
My N8 was replaced or repaired after 23 days and no compensation for 23 days. And now I have to go to NCP just to update to Belle and pay USD 40 to them (as my warranty is over)....... thats not right as others get it free by using Nokia Suite.

My Own Concept Idea - Nokia Gorilla Phone.

I figure a range rather than just limiting myself such as the Navigator Series, the E series, the N series, but this could be the G range or Gorilla Range. anyway i'd like to see this based on Symbian 60

be uptodate information, other phones could even send into a server, how much processing power and number crunching would
take place if every mobile phone could send a FREE SMS to a server every few hours with your GPS location
and altitude, world wide, i'm sure we'd be able to improve weather predicting with so much data coming in
from the people who say yes to submitting data to a weather server, providing the altmeter is calibrated.
GPS data, this phone will go all out to get a signal, then you have a series of options like sms my current
location to another phone or a request for help including how high up (altimeter/gps) his/hers cords from
the GPS
with the OPTIONAL bluetooth heartrate monitor.
*the phone could connect to a bluetooth heartrate monitor and then it displays the BPS of the indvididual
and a small sensor to measure temprature from the person as well.
*Maybe a Resuce Mode
*Safety mode / tacker
If the person who's in danger is able to get a signal even from 2g or the phone
will automatically try if it's in rescue mode, in rescue mode it could get your body
temprature, BPS, get your GPS location and direction heading from compass, even the barometer
so it could report things like weather info to help, for example is it safe to use a helicopter?
Why yes, the last 8 sms text messages the barometer has been increasing, but could easily be looked
up anyway.
If the person collapses, the SMS messages until someone arrives will be the only info, since we
are able to monitor heart rate and location, the emergency services will arrive.
Now if the heart beat drops below X BPS, it could automatically SMS the wife, brother, girlfriend
or even multiple people, reporting back the person could be in a lot of danger, there would be nothing
like this on the planet.
If not in danger, there will be software to monitor vital conditions, tempraterue of you, it can
also see where you've been by tracking your data and storing it automatically on memory, all data
stored could be used as a 'black box' once recovered, in other uses..
In other uses, it could detect that your heart beat has just shot up from 80 up to 120 and higher
it was an instant change, this could then SMS the parent, or the phone could make a high pitched alarm
sound either as to prevent an attacker and drawing attention to you or the high pitched alarm could be
an alert to others to say something is wrong with you and seek help, it could even detect low heart beats
and also do a similar warning of sms or both.
the Gorrila Nokia Phone can survive up to say -30c because it's well insulated and well protected
from the outside elements if there's a way of making a watertight seal with a slide, use that
if not the keypad can be put below as traditional phones go for example the new nokia 2960 style.
internally protected by epxoy too, So for a good rough phone that withstands abuse and yet be
absolutely packed tight of features nobody could say no.....
With the broadsprectrum of frequencies the phone has to offer, 2G, 3G 3.5G etc etc you stand more
chance of getting a signal with the better antenna or included signal amplifier/booster to pickup
that signal that might just save your life and then your phone becomes your only chance of hope....
Without the gorrila docking station, you wont be able to charge the phone without one although
you could use bluetooth/wifi in the short term for data transfer...

Each one could be used for this but if all 3 were combined an accurate result would be optained
and better to accurately determine to warn or not, for example if the heart beat drops or increases
significantly an automatic SMS text message can be delivered to friends and family instantly before
the person even realizes themselves...
The person might be climbing the side of a hill and all of a sudden he trips and ends up sliding down
the hill, the Gorilla Phone might be a few feet away now even outside the range of the bluetooth heart
/temp monitor, ok, the phone is montioring the altitude via either altimeter or GPS or both, the acceleromter
detected the sudden movement and jerk and strong G-Force at the very millisecond he falls.
the alitmeter suddenly declines in only a couple of seconds, and now the heart rate monitor is out of range
based on that data.....
The person has just fell 3ft from X,Y GPS cords, and the phone landed X,Y GPS cords, it then gets as much
data as possible such as altitude, temprature from phone (or heart rate monitor) and if the phone is not picked
up within 10 seconds, the Nokia Gorilla Phone kicks into action sending out an SMS with your location on it can send up
to 10 people or so of importance along with contact info directly to you when it happens.
by now, the SMS message will provide emergency services precisely to the location of

phone will know (providing you're linked via bluetooth 10/100m range?) there's a serious medical problem
and again could easily get the message out to save your life, even possibly having an option where the phone
smses AND turns on the loud speaker so you can talk to emergency services, maybe a simple voice to speech or
if you can't speech and can't move, there's not going to be that much of conversation but could be added.

time spent getting to you to save your life,
rather than time spent trying to find out where you are.
Another option would be to text the phone and then get a text message back automatically
providing access was granted on the phone.

into any conditions you go into, you work on the construction site, you wear a hard hat for protection
when you see a nice new iphone (lookalike) all pretty has to wear a yellow hat, what a disgrace... while

The Nokia 3720 classic is a IP54 level water,
Not even close to good enough, LCD screen will crack, water will go in through the jack/charger ports..
The phone i describe has no external ports just 4-5 little pins which can't let water in or out of the device, the docking station will connect via these 4 - 5 pins for data transfer and recharging...., IPX8 standard, all the electronics are epxoyed with a glue to stop real bad shocks from drops and bangs, along with a silicon case and all the other preventative meausres means this little phone is going to outlive you.
in combination with heart rate external bluetooth connection, really what more could you want... only the Sonim comes close in terms of perfection but if it managed to pack all of above, then it would be simply wow... I don't think there's enough people who work for nokia who actually go camping, backpacking, hiking, i'm pretty sure that if i told them one day
on a holiday you might drop your phone into the swimming pool, ok fine it's a mistake but damn, there goes your $$$$ N7 or N900 or even a HTC or Iphone.... not this, you'd yell to the first person you see in the pool, hey mate can i have my phone back, don't worry about the water damage, i'll get it back on insurance after a small lie stopping the person from running off with it (in fear of the now useless mobile phoned killed by water, making an attempt to steal be useless)
The person gets their phone back and carries on about his day, it drops out of your pocket, how many times you ran over it because you happened to leave it behind the back tire. oh no i ran over my phone, the tough casing and the epoxy keeping it nice and safe, except for superficial damage cosmetic, the screen and phone should be working still able to make that call or send out GPS info....
Sorry nothing comes close by any company (except Sonim) in terms of what they can do... maybe even a portable charger turn it to recharge like on LED dynamos. nah maybe not.

Need GPS for Nokia N80 Phone???

I have Nokia N80 phone and would like to use it as a GPS for traveling. Does anyone here know how or tell me what do I need? Is it just a software or I need the whole GPS device with its software? Hope to hear from someone here soon with good recommendation about GPS device working with Nokia N80 phone.

Have you checked the Nokia map application is compatible with external an GPS? That's only around £50 for a 3 year subscription to turn-by-turn, which is actually not too bad a deal compared with TomTom and Route66.
Alternatively, the two best know products are TomTom and Route66. If you're planning to use them in the UK only, then I believe (I've never tried it) that TomTom is a better product.
If you're planning to use the GPS in Europe, then (IMO) you have to go with Route66 rather than TomTom as TomTom's European bundle only includes City-to-City directions. To my mind, that's worse than useless: it helps you on the easy bits (the motorways) then gives up the minute you actually need it, namely in towns.
I have the Route66 Europe bundle and it has full coverage for the countries it includes.
Route66 works very well on my N80 and was easy to install. There are quite a few posts on here from people who've had trouble getting TomTom up and running, but once it's working I believe it does a good job.

My nano SIM works in my Nokia mobile phone but "No SIM" when in my iPad mini

I've been around the support loop a few times with varying levels of success, here is my story.
Basically I expect to only occasionally require mobile data services so would like to move my nano SIM from my Nokia mobile phone to the iPad mini as and when required. I have a 500Mb data allowance on my current contract with Vodafone UK which I never use but would like to access with my iPad mini.
The first time I tried it worked! I never tried to surf using it but it registered with Vodafone UK OK and had a good signal level. The second time “No SIM” or “SIM not installed” popup at bootup.
Now irrespective of contracts, tariffs, data plan etc I expect the iPad mini to recognise there as being a SIM present every time and never give “No SIM” except of course when there isn’t one physically in the thing.
Playing along to support and forum suggestions I’ve done a couple of device resets (software reinstalls) and various setting resets. But still “No SIM”.
I’ve also spoken with Vodafone UK and am investigating whether this is in fact some restriction where they’ve restricted the technology so SIM swapping is not allowed. My Nokia E51 is not locked as have had it years.
I just cannot get past the “No SIM” message though!

Do have the details as to why that is?
The single time it recognised the nano SIM and showed as being connected to Vodafone UK I tried to ring it to see what would happen, it just rang out until voicemail picked up but nothing happened on the iPad mini whatsoever.

Nokia Pirated Phones

I contacted Nokia early this year with an idea that since most countries had more than one network, it should consider a dual sim-card phone model. The response was negative. I was at the time using a Chinese nameless dual sim card phone with very elementary software and poor functionality. That phone was stolen a week ago and I was surprised to find a dual sim-card Nokia N95 phone. Touch screen, T-flash, MT 6225 Modem but, wait, it is not a NOKIA it is a NOKLA (with L in small letter). The manual is atrocious. The descriptions of the functions haphazard, the English is terrible; the manual is a disaster.
However, the phone itself passes very well for a Nokia for a first time user of Nokia. The functionality is better than the previous nameless (communication – it was called). It has a touch screen, powerful audio facilities – with the output serving those around the user much better than the user him/herself (it has three speakers behind the phone against one next to the user’s ear), charges using a USB port in power, car and computer, comes with two batteries and basic headphones. Its modem is not supported, and the computer cannot easily identify the manufacturer (the previous nameless was using Phillips technology).
In all, Nokia has concentrated on bringing a number of previously high end phone facilities to the basic phone. Cameras to as low as 6230 series, radio, internet surfing (with the help of service providers) and has thus afforded people who live on as little as 20 dollars a day to own a modern phone. While, a number of USD 2,000 a month earners are looking for better phones (black berry level) which Nokia has provided in the N series and above; there are several managers (sales, technical and executives) who do not want to carry two, three or four hand sets at a time. In some of these countries, networks are confined to towns and very small regions or highways. One town has network A and the next network B and so on.
The Chinese are going to continuously erode the market in this customer segment. The nameless cost me USD 350 a year ago and this “N95” as they refer to it in their manual, cost me USD 270. With better functionality and reduced prices this is a market in which the Chinese are doing far much better Nokia. However, the technology is not supported, there is no continuity – if I lose this particular handset, the next Chinese I get could be far better but I cannot tell some one to buy the same handset for me the next time S/he is in China. They will have moved on!!!
Nokia has mastered the lower end market and serves different interests in the developed countries (market), but it the developing countries, ironically with their low per capital incomes who are buying phones in all shapes and sizes. The more advanced the better. In these mass-product markets where copyright laws are simply impossible to enforce and customers are yearning for better but cheaper, Nokia may have to re-think its strategy along Toyota rather than get stuck in the paradigm of GM.

Rip-off artists in China can operate without repercussions, true. Is the situation any better in India? I'm asking because today's (11 Mar 2010) Times of India (a national newspaper, BTW), in the edition sold in Goa, carries an ad "naaptol hot deals for readers of the times of india", for an "i5800 ExpressMusic Phone". The image is blurred, but as far as I can make out, on the front of the phone, it says "XpressMusic", which is a Nokia registered trademark -right?
There's no Nokia or similar logo visible... though it is so eerily identical to the real thing that I wonder if these people grabbed a photo of an actual N5800 and digitally erased the Nokia brand name... and are actually selling a far worse-looking phone.
The online ad is at if you care to take a look. The tech specs are nowhere near the real 5800XM, (making the features-for-cash-paid ratio swing very much in favor of the 5800) but it's the total rip-off of the design, look, feel, and apparently even the UI, which is really annoying. If the Chinese want to compete, they should be able to do so with their own brand names and their own designs, instead of cloning Nokia phone designs.
After a lot of Googling and on-Nokia-site searches, I was unable to find any page that let me report this probable IP infringement, which I found surprising. Doesn't Nokia care about its IP being infringed by rip-offs like this being sold in a HUGE market like India? Anyway, I'm venting my ire by making this post :-) If Nokia cares about defending its trademarks and IP against rip-offs in a huge market like India... they should jump into action!
