Is there a TLF Class Diagram available?

Is there a class diagram for TLF classes available? Or is the only documentation the API Reference?
-Chris

There is not a separate class diagram, although there are some diagrams as part of the API reference. Sorry! Perhaps that is something we should add. There is a diagram of the FlowElements hierarchy on the textLayout.elements package overview, and another diagram in the container in the description for ContainerController. If there are more diagrams you think would be helpful, please let us know -- we can add more if it would be helpful.

  • Should I start with Entity Object or Java Class Diagram ??

    Hi,
I come to J2EE / OO application development from non-oo programming world. I am still confused about what step-by-step development approach should I take ?
    Should I :
    - start with creating Entity Object from available database table ?
    - should I start with Java class diagram, followed by generating database tables, then create EO from it ?
Could anybody please help me, what best practice step by step development approach should I take ?
Is there any white paper / docs about this ?
    Thank you for your help,
    Krist

    Krist,
If you are not from the OO world then you may be interested in this new site on OTN (http://otn.oracle.com/formsdesignerj2ee) There is a workshop that starts by looking at an existing datamodel and builds up from there.
If you are starting from nothing, you can indeed start higher at the Class Model level.
I recently started discussing data modeling on my blog (http://www.groundside.com/blog/content/SueHarper/) and there are some very good comments(feedback from readers) that may possibly be useful to you.
If you are new to the UML modeling world, I recommend you read two very good papers by Jan Kettenis on OTN (http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/jdev/collateral/collateral10g.html) They are Getting Strted with UML Class modeling and Getting Started with UML Use Case Modeling.
Shay pointed you to Toplink. There are a lot of resources on OTN for Toplink, including tutorials.
Personally? I think if you have time, and if you can, start with a Class Model and perhaps a Use Case model, then you can start planning your application development from a solid base.

  • Abstract Class and polymorphism - class diagram

    Hi,
]Im trying to draw a class diagram for my overall system but im not too sure how to deal with classes derived from abstract classes. I'll explain my problem using the classic shape inheritance senario...
myClass has a member of type Shape, but when the program is running shape gets instantiated to a circle, square or triangle for example -
    Shape s = new circle();
since they are shapes. But at no stage is the class Shape instantiated.
    I then call things like s.Area();
On my class diagram should there be any lines going from myClass directly to circle or triangle, or should a line just be joining myClass to Shape class?
    BTW - is s.Area() polymorphism?
    Thanks,
    Conor.

Sorry, my drawing did not display very well.
If you have MyClass, and it has a class variable of type Shape, and the class is responsible for creating MyClass, use Composition on your UML diagram to link Shape and MyClass.
If you have MyClass, and it has a class variable of type Shape, and the class is created elsewhere, use Aggregation on your UML diagram to link Shape and MyClass.
If you have MyClass, and it is used in method signatures, but it is not a class variable, use Depedency on your UML diagram to link Shape and MyClass. The arrow will point to Shape.
Shape and instances of Circle, Triangle, Square, etc. will be linked using a Generalization on your UML diagram. The arrow will always point to Shape.
Anything that is abstract (class, method, variable, etc.) should be italicized. Concrete items (same list) should be formatted normally.
BTW, the distinction between Composition, Aggregation and Dependency will vary from project to project or class to class. It's a gray area. Just be consistent or follow whatever guidelines have been established.

  • Why wait() is there in Object class why not in Thread class

why wait() is there in Object class why not in Thread class .

If there is any situation where we use it without using threads please mention with example. or link to that example..

Have you even tried writing any code that uses wait/notify and thought about how you'd write the same code if they existed only on Thread rather than on Object?
Have you studied the basics of Java's multithreading?
Do you know what a lock is?
Do you know what the synchronized keyword does?
Do you understand the relationship between synchronized and wait/notify?
If you can answer yes to these questions, then the reason that wait/notify exist on Object should be obvious. So, which of the above are "no"?

  • Class diagram software

    Hi,
is there any software which will create class diagram, if the source code is provided to it.if yes then please provide me the links.
    Thanks in advance

    Hello!
"borland-together"(You may need licence to run the plugin) plugin with NDS Should do this. But you can download WebSphere Application Developer(IBM versin of Eclipse), it has a classdiagram plug-in, which also does do the same way.
    Thanks,

  • JavaDoc HTML link of  classes in Java class diagram not correct

    Hi,
I created a Java class diagram in a certain package (e.g. com.mycompany.p1) and placed some classes on this diagram from the same package and from other packages. Then I created JavaDocs. When I click on the classes in the created JavaDoc diagram, only the links of the classes in the same package as the diagram (com.mycompany.p1) wor correctly. When I click on a class outside this package I get an error message that the file is not found. It looks for the class documentation in the package of the diagram and this is obviousely wrong!
Is there a property I missed to set or is it a bug?
    Thanks for help
    Thomas

    Hi Thomas,
I don't use the diagrammers much, so I cannot comment on this directly; however, based on your description, it does sound like a defect. Do you have access to Oracle Support to file an SR?

  • Ternary Association In a class diagram

    Hi
Please help. I need to depict a ternary association icon between 3 Classes in my Class diagram.
I am using Java Studio Enterprise 8's UML tool.
The modeling palette does not make provision for this type of association.
Is there a way to depict the ternary association icon, or is there an update for the Modeling palette in the class diagrams?
It is the little diamond, looks the same as the decision icon.

I filed one for neext release http://www.netbeans.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=79744
It's unlikely functionality will be added in patch to jse8.

  • Creating OO database objects by using class diagrams in JDeveloper

I am new to use JDeveloper. I create UML class diagrams (using Entity Object) in JDeveloper, which has inheritances and associations, and then choose Create Database Objects... try to create oo database, but it only create some tables in the database, not any object types ... .
What do I missed? Or I have to create those oo database objects manually?
    Thanks.

    Tony,
You can use database object types with BC4J, but only to implement BC4J domains (these can map to object types).
For performance reasons, it is less practical to generate a table of object types for a complete EO. Most users view the BC4J layer as the 'pure' OO model, and map to a relational datamodel for optimal performance.
Below some steps to create a DB object type for a domain:
You can create Oracle Object Types in the database by creating a business component domain and then forward generating the database object. Forward generation of object tables from entity objects is not supported. To forward generate an Oracle Object Type from a new domain: In the System Navigator, right click on your business component package and choose Create Domain. When the Domain Wizard opens, review the information on the Welcome page and click Next. Enter a Name and Package for the domain or accept the defaults. Select the checkbox for Domain for an Oracle Object Type. Do not select any items on the Available Types list, as you are creating a new one. Enter the name of your new type in the Selected Type field. Click Next. On the Settings page, click New. Provide a name in the New Domain Attribute box. Select the appropriate Java type a[i]Long postings are being truncated to ~1 kB at this time.

  • UML Modeling for Class calling another class in Class Diagram and Sequence

In my application, business delegate is calling Session Facade through business interface. Session Facade is implementing business interface which includes my application business processes.
In my class diagram, I am showing business delegate, business interface and Session Facade.
What kind of relationship should be shown between
    1. business delegate and business interface
    2. business delegate and Sesion Facade
I am not very sure wthether relationship mentioned above are really need to show.
What should be calling sequence in sequence diagram. Do I really need to show business interface in callling sequence of sequence diagram or I can show business delegate is calling directly to Session Facade.
    Thanks
    San

In my application, business delegate is calling
Session Facade through business interface. The delegate is interacting with what exactly when you say "through"?
If the delegate uses an interface then there is an association.
If it is getting an interface implementation from some other object then there is an association there.
Given the above then there is no relationship between the implementation of a interface and the delegate however.
Session Facade is implementing business interface which
includes my application business processes. The implementation would have associations to the objects that it is providing a facade for.

  • UML Class Diagram Properties bug in 9.0.3

    Actually, a bug report.
If one selects all of the classes and tries to change the viewing properties (to hide parameters, etc.) the changes are not made globally if any of the existing classes have already been modified. It seems OK if all classes selected have identical properties but not if any have been changed.
For that matter, I think there should be a diagram option for doing this when one right-clicks on the diagram, not just a collection of classes.
    Joe

Sorry Joe, even after following your steps, I am unable to reproduce the problem. It may be specific to the properties that are trying to change.
Can you tell me what property you alter in step 1?
When you say 'select all classes', how many classes are you talking about? How do you do the selection? What property do you change the second time?
    Thanks again,
    Lisa

  • How can I Create Class Diagram and save as image in Java

    Hi
I have to make a project in java that will generate class diagram of the input class file.
I have some knowledge of listing methods/properties of a class file in text from but don't really know how to draw a class diagram model (JBuilder 2005 such class diagram whenever a class is compiled). I have to save that class diagram in an image file as well.
Please guide me what must be my line of action to follow. I need some suggestions on urgent basis.
    Thanx in advance

    Hi
My problem is that I have to construct toll like JUDE. What I need from this tool is just to simply draw the diagrams and save in an image format.
So I need to know how to draw the diagram and save in an image file. I don't know about the drawing libraries available in Java. Kindly help me

  • JDev Java class diagrams - how to associate 2 classes to parent via Map?

I am using 9.0.5.1 and working on some simple Class diagrams. I have learnt how to use the @associates javadoc tag and association editor to get associations displayed between classes that use Collections. However, it seem that I cannot associate the classes used for the "key" and "value" in member Map. Only a single association per member variable appears to be supported. Is this possible?
In case the above doesn't make sense, here is the code from the class with the Map member:
    * @associates <{score.ContentItem}>
    * @associates <{score.ScoreConsolidator}>
    protected Map descriptionMap = new HashMap();
The diagram tool only seems to recognize the last @associates tag. I have tried a few syntaxes for refering to multiple classes to no avail.
    Thanks
    Drew

    Drew,
Your correct, we do only support one associates tag. The associates tag indicates the collection type of the association, and only the first associates tag will be read.
The best way to indicate that an association is indexed, or keyed, by a certain type is to draw a dependency between the association line and the key, or index, type.
    Thanks,
    Geoff

  • .java - UML Class Diagram

Hello for my university exam, i developed an application, now i need to print the UML class diagram, so I was searching around for a tool to create the class diagram for my source code.
I had tryed the software "borland together trial edition" for eclipse IDE, but i've two problems..
    1) it creates UML class diagram just for a package without expanding subpackages..
    2) it doesn't give an easy way to export the created UML class diagram, the only "good" format for printing it can export is a "buggy" SVG...
Do you know better (and maybe free) software to create the UML class diagram from my sources? (or maybe you know a way to solve the two problem i said?
    thank yoU!!!

There's a package on sourceforge call JReFactory which might do the job.

  • UML Class diagrams: Printing and formatting

I really like the UML capabilities of NetBeans 5.5. In particular, I like the ability to create a "centered" dependency class diagram by right-clicking on a class and selecting "Generate Dependency Diagram."
However, I am having trouble with some basic printing and formatting issues. I am hoping that I'm just being stupid, but I haven't been able to find documentation on how to fix this. I am using Red Hat Enterprise (3.4.6-3).
I recently reverse engineered an 800 class project, and it didn't take too long. Less than a minute, probably.
    1. Can't get a landscape printout. Fiddle with Page Setup and Print menu items, set to landscape, but almost always get a portrait mode printout. Why?
    2. The arrowheads are frightfully small. How do you make them bigger?
    3. How can you globally set a preference to only show public attributes and operations for all classes?
    Thanks for the help.
    Dave Godbey

Good to hear your feedback. Thanks.
#1. there's a known bug on printing to landscape mode. However, the following workaround should print you a landscape diagram.
    - from the diagram window toolbar, click on the Print Preview button
    - from the Print Preview dialog, click on Print Setup
    - from the Print Setup dialog, click on Page Setup at the bottom left
    - from the Page Setup dialog, toggle the Landscape orientation radio button
    - press the OK button on the Page Setup and Print Setup dialogs: Your print preview should now be displayed in landscape orientation
    - now click on the Print button from the Print Preview dialog to print
#2. I believe your diagram must be big so that the arrowheads are displayed small. Currently I don't see a way to make them bigger. Sorry for the inconvenience. I can file an enhancement on this for you or you can file one for yourself too thru the following URL.
    http://uml.netbeans.org/issues/enter_bug.cgi?component=uml
#3. As for global preference to show only specific attributes or operations, there's an enhancement bug already, but the current version of the tool doesn't have this preference setting.
