Is there a way for multiple users to connect to my home sharing with their iOS device to select music to stream to my A/V receiver jukebox style?

I have an A/V receiver that I can connect to and select music to stream over my network but I want to know if I have a party if it's possible for multiple users to have access on their own devices to my home shared music and select music to play like a jukebox.

I almost forgot that using folders can allow each folder to contain a song. I also recall touch tracks or one key play...

Is there a way to have multiple users sync to an iCloud account with single administrator so the files cannot be changed on the cloud?  This would be for sales people to have the latest product shots without the ability to delete or change the albums in iPhoto.

I don't believe so.  Every device that is signed into a shared iCloud account has the same privileges.

  • Is there an app or way for multiple users to access contact info?

We are a small business that maintains a contact list of leads and clients in a MS word file. We can access those word files via our iphones, but only view them. Is there an app or way to have one person in the office maintain a database of leads and clients that a few users can access via iphone and simply touch the phone number to call them or touch the address for directions/map?
We know we could each input the info in each of our phones independently, but that is dumb - given someone in the office maintains such info as part of their job and updates it weekly/monthly whatever. Do you see what I mean? I cannot believe there is nothing out there for this.
Basically we are looking for a continuously updatable, multiple user, remotely accessible, interactive contact database with name, address, and phone number. I think that is what I would call it.

I can access phone numbers directly from our client list in word.
And that solves your quest looking for "a continuously updatable, multiple user, remotely accessible, interactive contact database with name, address, and phone number"?
Wow... I never know Microsoft Word could do so much!

  • Is there a way for a user to specify a page within a flip book that they wish to view?

We would like to post our weekly publications online for our customers to view.  I have exported and created swf files before and I understand the most of the navigation buttons that are in InDesign but I have not been able to find a solution to this problem.
Each one of our publications are 100+ pages long.  The problem is that if our customer only care about viewing page 55/100 of our publication, they must first flip through 54 other pages.  Is there a way to insert a button or input box for users to get around flipping through the other pages? A "go to page" button not specified by the creator but rather the user? Attached is an example.
    Thanks for any help!

In all probability, anyone skilled enough to do the photo manipulation could use a downloaded InDesign template in their own copy of ID (but you'd possibly need to have several versions of the template for differnt versions of ID). If you want Adobe applications to actually run on the website you'd need to have server licensing, about which I know very little -- I'm not even sure there is a server edition for Photoshop -- other than it's bloody expensive.

  • Sharing iTunes Library for multiple users on SAME PC at home.

I am running Windows XP. I want to get my wife a Shuffle for Christmas, and I'd like us to be able to share the same music library. Because of paranoia over what the kids can get to on the net (my oldest is 10) and because my wife keeps here files in a mess, we all have separate accounts on my home machine.
I turned on sharing in iTunes in my account, but none of my music library if visible when I launch iTunes in her account. Is there a way what I want to do?

The iTunes sharing is for sharing music between computers on a network.

  • Solution Needed: Using VPN as a Jump off for multiple users to connect outbound to multiple 3rd party VPN

I work for a healthcare consulting company, we have 50+ consultants that work remotely from their home.  We currently are cloud managed and for various reasons are looking for a solution to streamline our connection to our Clinics' personal VPNs.  Our Clinics' VPNs vary greatly in regards to vendor and type of connection.
    What we want to do:
Create a Jumpoff where all our consultants (simultaneously as well) can remote VPN into. From there be able to jump out to any of our Clinics' VPNs.
We need this because we have some consultants with foreign IPs and we also want to connect from Google Chromebooks which don't play nice with every type of our Clinics' VPNs.  So the our Jump Off Box will have all the needed connections for any type of VPNs our Clinics use.
This solution should connect to our Clinics' side from their default VPN settings - Just a regular VPN connection from us to them.
From what I have been told is that this was attempted in the past:
Consultants VPN'd to our cloud server - RDPd to a machine and then VPNd out to our clinics. However this locked down the VPN and only one consultant could jump out.
What Cisco Product would allow us to do so?
How would this be set up?
Do we set up the Router to handle outbound connections?
Any input would be greatly appreciated.

  • Best way for multiple users to edit same pics and catalog

    Dear All
Please can I pick your brains about how best to arrange things so that my wife and I can edit the same stock of photos (not necessarily simultaneously, which I take it could cause problems).
We will soon have bought (unless advised otherwise!) two Apple MBPs (since we tend after long days at work to edit on the sofa!).
I take the options are roughly:  external drives, sticks, cloud, network.  In detail …
    A.  We keep the pics and catalog on an external hard drive which whoever’s editing plugs into their computer.  Downside: it’s a bit irritating when editing or showing pics to someone to have to keep an eye to ensure the USB cable doesn’t get knocked out; it’s somehow nicer to be self-contained.
    B.  Same as A, but using a 512GB or 1TB memory stick instead.  Downside:  the sticks are still pretty big, so same downside as A, to an extent, and also (is this right?) I’ve been told that memory sticks are relatively unreliable.
    C.  We keep the pics and catalog in the cloud and wirelessly edit them there. Downside:  perhaps impossible, or at any rate too slow?
    D.  Same as C, but using some sort of on-site server or drive (I’m a bit out of my depth here), perhaps like Apple’s Time Capsule.  Downside:  perhaps impossible, or at any rate too slow?
Are there other options?  For example: is there an option where the pics reside on my MBP’s internal SSD but, in some very easy way I can get them onto an external drive if my wife wants to edit or take them somewhere?  (If there is, I should ensure I buy a MBP with a big enough SSD; otherwise, I needn’t worry about that so much.)
Perhaps there’s an option involving smart previews, which I am just beginning to get my mind around?
Any asdvice you have would be MOST welcome.
    Thank you.
      David

    2.  Keep the images (unlike the catalog) on a networked drive and edit either (a) them or (b) smart previews of them (stored, I guess, on the computer of whoever is editing them, either my wife's or mine).
Even though I have mentioned this a few times, you do NOT need smart previews if the images are available. It's an extra step, completely optional, done only for speed purposes, and to be honest, if your catalog is on a thumb drive, that may be the speed limitation, not the speed of loading photos. In addition, smart previews are stored with the catalog ... I do not think you can put them on a different drive.
    3.  Keep the images (unlike the catalog) on my MBP's internal ssd, and network my computer to my wife's so she can access either (a) them there (when I am around) or (b) smart previews of them.
Using the SSD for images is not going to produce speed benefits, other than trivial benefits that you probably can't even notice.
    a.  I take it 1 would deliver pretty good performance.  I sometimes worry that it might seem mad to get an MBP with a fast internal ssd if I then don't use that ssd for images!  But I guess the internal ssd will still deliver good speed simply in terms of housekeeping, I take it, even if the machine has to go to a stick for the images.  Right?
I remain skeptical that a catalog on a thumb drive would produce "pretty good performance", but I admit that I have not tried. I fail to see what benefit you think you are getting from the SSD, "good speed simply in terms of housekeeping" is a phrase that I am not understanding. Yes, there are benefits to putting operating system and software on an SSD, but that's not what you are talking about, is it?
    b.  By contrast, I take it that 2 and 3 really would be quite sluggish on the original images option, i.e. if someone were editing original images located on a network drive (whether that's a third drive or my internal drive, with my wife editing them wirelessly).  Yes?
No. Here's a major misundertanding on your part. The speed of the drive where the images are stored has little effect on the performance speed of Lightroom. Ian Lyons did a study, read it for yourself. A network drive would not cause performance issues in Lightroom, unless the network was failing to perform. Wireless? Well that's a different story, who knows, you haven't specified what type of wireless or the speed of the wireless
    c.  But would 2 and 3 work not only better, but pretty well, if the person editing were editing only smart previews?
Possibly, but I reject the premise that 2 and 3 are sluggish because of the location of the photos, it may be sluggish because your catalog is on a thumb drive.
    d.  Even if so, IF I can get a thumb drive which is bigger for the images, there doesn't seem much point going for 2 or 3, and some point in not doing so, i.e. editing smart previews has its limitations, and on option 3 my wife wouldn't be able to edit when I was travelling (unless we'd taken steps in advance to make smart previews of all the relevant pics)?  Or perhaps this last point is wrong?  Does LR make smart previews, locally, of ALL pictures in the catalog?
Number 2 is a very reasonable solution, even without smart previews, it is fine if you are accessing photos on a network drive. The speed limitation is the speed of accessing the catalog on the thumb drive.
    e.  What's the best way of backing up the images?  I currently back up the catalog BOTH to dropox and to (yet more) external drives that I then take off-site, to the latter of which I also backup the images.  I guess that's the best way?  Apple's Timecapsule sounds good but wouldn't get anything off-site.  And I take it uploading thousands of raw images to the cloud would be either impossible or costly in terms of time or money?
All backup strategies are best when they are automatic (i.e. don't rely on the human user to remember to do it) and backups must go on a different physical disk than the originals. Many people backup to the cloud, see for example, the commercial service called Carbonite. In your backup strategy for Lightroom, you need to make regular, automated bakcups of the images and also of the catalog file.

  • Is there a way for end users to give their manager access to change their Out of Office, without an admin involved?

Our end users need to be able to give their managers access to enable their out of office.
question 1.  Can this be done without giving them full access?
question 2.  If they need full access, can the end user themselves give this access? (I've tried giving another user "owner" rights, but the user still can't seem to open my calendar from OWA to adjust my out of office)
question 3.  Can this be done without an Sys Admin being involved?

You can create a RBAC role for each manager scoped to each of their employees that lets them run the Set-MailboxAutoReplyConfiguration cmdlet on the exchange server. Otherwise they will need full access to the users mailbox which an admin would have
to grant, the end user can not grant this permission. Then they can open the other users mailbox in OWA and set the OOF

We have a report that returns information about employees.
The parameter is an LOV of employee names.
A manager may choose 50 employees from the list of 6000, which is time consuming.
Managers want to be able to come back and run it for those emaployees

They also want to be able to add one more, or drop one from their list.

  • Is there any way for a basemap to be manipulated from the client side?

    Hello,
Essentially, we have a basemap (+basemap A+) that contains boundary geography (i.e., county, tract, block boundaries) and we have a theme (+theme A+) that contains housing unit points.
The idea is that theme A will be a layer that the user will be able to switch on/off. We know how to do this, but the problem comes in where performance is concerned.
Previously, theme A was actually included in basemap A, and performance was not an issue, but the problem then was that the user was not able to turn that layer on/off.
Also I have done everything I know in terms of caching as well as using the mapviewer API
    (e.g.,
    test_theme.setClickable(false);
    test_theme.enableInfoWindow(false);
    test_theme.enableInfoTip(false);
    test_theme.enableLabels(false);
    test_theme.enableAutoWholeImage(true);
    test_theme.setMinVisibleZoomLevel(5);),
but rendering the theme on the client side is still way too slow (even at zoom level 5).
So, my question boils down to this. Is there any way for a basemap to be manipulated by a user? I.e., Is there a way for a user to pass parameters to a basemap, essentially telling it which themes to turn on/off?
I know you can specify which zoom level the basemap's themes are visible, but again, we want the user to be able to have control of when a certain theme is shown or not.
Thank you for any help you can provide,
    John

What you may try is to replicate your base map but take the point theme out of its definition. Then create a second tile layer for the new base map. You can add both tile layers to the client (but set only one of them to be visible). Then simply switch the tile layers' visibility on/off based on user turning on/off the point theme. The built-in Oracle Maps tutorial #22 (Multiple Base maps) has some sample code you might be able to re-use.

  • SESSION VARIABLES : HOW TO TEST FOR MULTIPLE USERS

I have a username session variable set up on a localhost testing envirnoment.
This works fine for one user, but when I open another occurence of the browser (or just another tab) to test for multiple users the system overwrites the session variable with the last username input.
    So the question is:
Why doesn't dreamweaver hold an instance of the session variable for each browser session? and if not what are your suggestions?
    Thanks
    Adam.

    Thanks for that.
After scouring the internet I found the only way of running 2 instances of firefox  without them sharing the session variables is to create 2 new firefox profiles in windows + set the MOZ_NO_REMOTE environment variable.
Internet explorer is much easier as it has a 'new session' option in the file menu, but seems to have more trouble displaying tables correctly.
Hope this helps anyone with a similar problem.

Welcome to the world of digital media. Your can't really transfer it. I don't know what the rules are about transferring to your spouse but I do know that in some cases when you die, your heirs cannot inherit your digital media. This is why there is still an advantage to buying the CD since the usage rights belong to whomever holds the physical media.
A possible workaround is to burn the songs to a music CD with yout account (tracks only without song titles) and then having your wife upload it as a regular music CD onto her account. It's been a while since i've done this so I'm not sure if it would work now.
Please note that I'm not advocating copyright and/or TOS violations. I'm only suggesting ways to copy music for your own personal use which has traditonally been permitted. I only did this because I wanted to convert iTunes songs to mp3 files so I could burn them onto a data CD for use in my car. It would make sense that since married couples are a joint entity, this would be personal use.
Also, I'm not a lawyer so don't take this as legal advice.
