Is there a way to access purchased music on both home and work computers?

I've finally started using the iTunes music store after years of avoiding it and I've purchased and downloaded a bunch of songs on my home computer. Today I installed iTunes on my work computer and was about to buy some new songs when I discovered that purchased music can apparantly only be downloaded to one computer. What gives? I thought it could be shared with up to five computers!?! If anyone has a solution, please let me know -- i'm sure a lot of people have run into this problem...

Correct

Also correct. If you want the tracks on another computer, you need to copy them there. See:

    Hi,
I had my iphone stolen a few weeks ago which had quite a lot of music on that I had downloaded from itunes via my phone but had not synced with itunes on my computer.
Is there any way to access the music now or is it lost? Thanks x

By any chance, did you have the Find My iPhone app installed prior to it being stolen?

Hopefully you had your iTunes purchases backed up to an external source such as an external drive or CD's?

  • Is there a way to sync the catalogues on both LR5 and LR6?

I have installed the desktop version of LR6. Now I have both LR6 and LR5 working. I could uninstall it... but in fact it would be great to be able to work on both, so is there a way to sync the catalogues on both?

    Hi,
I already bought it, I was just thinking that since it synchronized my catalogue when I installed it, it might be possible to do it manually again. The idea being that if I'm inporting or exporting something tht takes a long time in LR6, I could carry on working on LR5 if the two were working together. Just a thought, sometimes I reall would like to work on more than one window at a time.... but it would probably mess things up, right?  The alternative is just to uninstall LR5 once everything is working well?

  • Is there a way to access purchased apps from the app store on windows computer? For USB boot drive

Having a problem with my Macbook (13", Late 2009 I believe) after attemption to update iOS to OS Mavericks. Have run into the grey screen of death, and have almost exhausted all options, including reseting pram, accessing fsck, and even using disk utility to reinstall the iOS. I believe that during the initial update (which is the root of the problem), there was some corruption within the directories which I believe can be contributing to my problem.
I was hoping to find a way to access my purchased apps from the app store on a windows computer so that I can make a USB boot drive in order to rule out the hardware problem that I am currently speculating.
    Please advise, thanks in advance!

Yes if you have the iPod and iTunes set up to sync via wifi. However, you have to do it from your one syncing computer and the iPod and computer have to be on the same network.

  • TS1702 is there any way to archive purchased apps, i.e. remove and archive from iphone

I have apps on my iphone 3gs that I am not playing or using any longer, when I sync they are automatically reloaded, is there any way that one I remove the items that they can be archived w/in the app store?

Change your sync settings in iTunes, you're probably syncing all apps rather than selected apps.  By default, app purchases are always available in the App Store for re-download if you want it back on the iPhone but don't want to re-sync to get it.

  • Is there a way to play my iTunes library from home, at work?

    Wondering if this is possible...

Not the files sitting on the computer at home unless you know so much about computers you wouldn't even be asking this.  Home Sharing only does as it says, shares between devices at home.
You might want to check the Match service.  This keeps a copy of your iTunes collection on an Apple computer so you can have access to the copy anywhere you can get on the Internet.

  • Is there a way to access music purchased in another country??

I recently returned home to Canada from Australia.  Doing so I returned my itunes account to Canadian information,  an unforseen result is that all of my music that I purchased in Australia has been locked out and is unable to play however still downloads to my computer.  I sincerely hope there is a way to access this music?
    Any help greatly appreciated

Tracks you buy from the iTunes Store are not copy protected, though, and haven't been for a couple of years now.
    Regards.

  • Computer was lost,is there a way to access old purchases on my new computer

My computer was stolen lately, and I am wondering if there is a way to access my music previously purchased through my itunes account on my new computer?

Sorry to hear about the theft. And sorry again, but officially Apple does not allow redownloads of purchased items. It's your responsibility to make backup copies in case something goes wrong with your system or it's lost or stolen, as unfortunately it apparently did in your case, and you lose all the information on your hard drive. The official statement of their policy can be found here, among other places. If you haven't made a backup, and don't have your tracks on an iPod, you're probably out of luck and will need to repurchase your tracks.
You can try contacting iTunes Store Customer Service and explaining what happened. Reportedly in some cases Apple has allowed redownloading on a one-time basis, but don't count on it.
    Good luck.

  • I appear to have two separate Apple IDs and have purchased music under both.  Is there any way to consolidate the accounts into one?

I appear to have two separate Apple IDs and to have purchased music under both of them (one is my husband's email account, the other is mine).  Is there a way to consolidate them, or is it possible to make the purchases made under two separte IDs downloadable on the same device(s)?

Not at this time. There is no way to merge two Apple IDs or be signed into the iTunes Store with more than one Apple ID at a time on an iOS device. However, you can USB sync the music to more than one device at a time, no problem. As long as all the music is on the same computer.

  • My itunes account was disabled for some reason.  I changed password in iforgot and still didn't work.  I could log in but not make purchases from the store so I set up a new login/account .  Is there any way to move my music to the new account?

My itunes account was disabled for some reason.  I changed password in iforgot and still didn't work.  I could log in and see my music but not make purchases from the store or even redeem an itunes gift card so I set up a new login/account with another email account of mine. On the new account I can redeem my gift card and download items onto my ipad2.  Is there any way to move my music to the new account?

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Then try the action that you're having trouble with again. Select any messages that appear in the Console window. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).

  • Is there a way to access my iTunes Library, which is stored on a (PC) External Hard Drive, on a MacBook Air (through an Apricorn Universal Hard Drive Adapter), without transferring the music files off of the external hard drive?

Is there a way to access my iTunes Library, which is stored on a (PC) External Hard Drive, on a MacBook Air (through an Apricorn Universal Hard Drive Adapter), without transferring the music files off of the external hard drive?
In other words, because the MacBook Air only has 120 gbs of hard drive space & my old hard drive, from a Lenovo, has 500 gbs of hard drive space (and I have over 120 gbs of music), I’m looking to manage my iTunes music from the external hard drive permanently. Upon attempting to access the iTunes library held on the external hard drive the following message comes up: “The iTunes Library.itl file is locked, on a locked disk, or you do not have write permission for this file”.  Is there a way to get around this?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks so much!

You will have to engage a split library which means you will have to start answering questions on this forum because you will need to learn a lot about how iTunes works in order not that have a big mess at the end of it all.  It also won't be easy when the time comes to relocate it all to different drives.
You can go to advanced preferences and turn off organize media and copy to items to media folder when adding items to library.  Next read about how to selectively consolidate items to the external drive.

"...selected the new tracks directly in iTunes, Control-clicked on the selection, and saw that now you can consolidate selected items." - http://hints.macworld.com/article.php?story=20090919000326840
Remember that when you start iTunes without the external drive turned on iTunes will present you with a bunch of broken links.  If you have automatic downloads enabled with iCloud you may have to turn that off to prevent iTunes from repopulating your drive trying to deal with those "missing" tracks.
If you add tracks in bunches to iTunes and want them to go to different media folders you will need to either add them by holding down the option key while dragging if the desired media folder is not the one set in preferences, or by changing the media folder in preferences.  Changing media folder preferences only applies to new files added, not old ones.
Okay, I am going to stop typing because you might just reply to me, "Oh, okay, forget it," and I don't need the exercise.
