Is there a way to apply a master page to even (or odd) pages in a long document?

I'm taking a very simple, large pdf document and bringing it into InDesign to add some graphics. The pdf is actually a customized 2-page document for a large employee group (i.e. pages 1 and 2 are for employee001, pages 3 and 4 are for employee002, pages 5 and 6 are for employee003, etc.).
I've found a script that allows me to bring in all the pages of the pdf at one time, provided I've set up the correct number of blank pages in InDesign. What I'm looking for now is a way to apply a master page to all even numbered pages at one time. Or all odd pages. Anyone have any ideas?
Ideally, an option that would import the entire pdf document, add the appropriate number of pages to the InDesign document, and be able to assign different master pages to even and odd pages would rock! Help!

for (var i=0;i<= PageLength-1;i++)
var isEven = function(someNumber){
return (someNumber%2 == 0) ? true : false;
if(isEven(newDoc.pages.item(i).name) == true)
          //Apply Master B for right page
          newDoc.pages.item(i).appliedMaster = app.activeDocument.masterSpreads.item("B-Master");
//Move elements by x, y position, script label ContactEmail
newDoc.pages.item(i).pageItems.item("ContactEmail").move([0.7292, 6.011]);
}else{
          //Apply Master A for left page
          newDoc.pages.item(i).appliedMaster = app.activeDocument.masterSpreads.item("A-Master");
}//for Else
}//For

    Maybe some one else can pipe up with a solution, but this would literally take 2 seconds to do for a new project.  And you can create a "template project" that includes this "text" clip.  Save this project and then to a get info and check "stationary pad."  When you double click on this file, fcp will open with a copy of this project and you just need to do a save as.
    I've been working with computer editing systems for longer than i can remember and at a certain point you just have to adapt your workflow to the limitations of the software.

  • Is there a way to apply LUTS to clips while in Adobe Media Encoder

    is there a way to apply LUTS to clips while in Adobe Media Encoder? We have many  camera clips needing luts applied then wrapped to ProRes422 for editing. right now we are using after effects, rendering out then wrapping in Encoder, but this workflow is quite time consuming.We've tried rendering proRes out of AE but the boss isn't happy with the results without also going through Encoder.

    No, there is not a way to apply color changes (e.g., using LUTs) in Adobe Media Encoder. Do this in After Effects, but just add your After Effects compositions directly to the Adobe Media Encoder encoding queue (e.g., by choosing File > Add After Effects Composition in the AME UI).

  • Is there a way to apply LUT's to a photo in Lightroom?  Such as .cube, Vision Color, etc.

    Is there a way to apply LUT's to a photo in Lightroom?  Such as .cube, Vision Color, etc.  I have some film stock and Osiris LUTs I like to use for video that I'd love to apply to RAW still photos in Lightroom.  I know it's possible in Photoshop CC but the process would save me time if it's possible to easily do in Lightroom 5.  Anyone know?

    Unfortunately, you can't do it in LR.  You could add your vote and opinion to this topic in the official Adobe feedback forum: Lightroom: Ability to use 3D LUTs.

  • Is there a way to apply a precise value of how round the STBuffer() applies to a geography?

    Hello,
    I am attempting to work on moving my data into SQL Server spatial geography. I have a valid geography and am able to apply a buffer of (150 feet or 0.3048 meters) as shown below.
    My question is there a way to apply a precision to how smooth the buffer is made ? I currently have MapInfo software and it allows me to apply "25 segments per circle" where the 25 can be whatever I choose (buffer is the red ring shown below which
    appears not as wide as the SQL server buffer above)  Please ignore the cropped portion of the red-line below; however, I was just trying to give a visual of what the buffer looks like now in my MapInfo format...
    Is this possible with SQL Server Spatial?
    Thanks in advance.
    Nick

    STBuffer won't do this (it has only one parameter), and after looking at the "BufferWithTolerance" and "Reduce" methods, I don't think they'll do this either. In a single method call. However, you may be able to produce the same results
    with a series of method calls. That is, buffering combined with calls to STCurveToLine/CurveToLineWithTolerence and STIntersection or STDifference. Or one of the spatial aggregates. From your current description it's hard to figure out what you're looking
    to do. You're trying to reverse-engineer something in a specific product, so figure a complete description of how it works.
    But, unless I missed something, it will take multiple spatial library calls.
    Hope this helps, Cheers, Bob

  • Is there a way to apply the same transition to many clips at once?

    If there are about 70 clips for a slide show s there a way to apply a crossfade to all of the clips at once?
    Thanks,
    Pete D.

    Make Timeline the active window.
    Press command and A keys to select all clips.
    Press command and T keys to apply the default transition.
    This will usually be a one second crossfade but you can change it to another duration or a completely different effect if you want.

  • Is there a way to apply the same transition between all clips?

    Or is there a way to apply random transitions? Either way I'm too lazy to drag a transition between every clip and hope there's a bulk way I haven't found yet. I'm using iMovie HD 6.0.2 (267).
    Thanks!
    --Daniel

    Daniel,
    To apply the same transition between all clips, select all the clips, select the transition (and timing) then click ADD (at the bottom right of the transitions screen). The transitions will be rendered, one at a time between all the clips. If you wish to change the transition, again select the required clips, select the new transition, then click UPDATE.
    I'm not aware of any way to apply random transitions.

  • Is there a way to apply Time Remapping to multiple clips simultaneously?

    Is there a way to apply Time Remapping to multiple clips simultaneously? I'd like to uniformly speed up and slow down two different clips that are playing in a picture-in-picture setup. I’m hoping there’s a more elegant way to sync them up than just editing their Time Remapping functions individually (I already tried using an Adjustment Layer. It didn’t work).

    you can try nesting the two clips together, then control the time remapping of the nest.

  • Object appearing on pages applied with master page

    I'm doing a multi-page brochure and I've got all my master pages set up. on the odd pages applied with master page 'A,' a colored rectangle appears when I print that is not on screen on my master page 'A,' nor is it an object on those pages. it also appeared on a pdf that i sent out.
    I can't get rid of it! I've tried to delete the master page 'A' and create a new one (made a copy of a master that didn't have issues), then applied that to the odd pages. no luck.

    Thanks Al, you've been a busy ID user over the years. Me, I've only been using it for a couple years and I always seem to learn something new every day. Thanks for your help, and I'll continue to read further into the threads. There's always more than one way to skin a cat, we all know that, so there are multiple ways to fix the problem at hand. Some of my spreads hold large photos that actually go right through the spine of the spread, and yet the two pages of the spread can actually have 2 different master pages applied. So, I've got to figure out which way is best..whether its moving the master page items away from the spine or if splitting up the pages is better (not exactly sure how that will work yet with large spread photos). I'll look into it more later, when I have more time. Right now I'm on deadline (monthly magazine), and for a quick and easy fix, I can switch master pages off and just copy the master items over to each page spread where I need them.
    and thanks for the tip on Indesignsecrets.com. I didn't know they existed....and now I do, thanks! (too many websites...too little time!

Help please I can't save any documents now! Thanks in advance all, it is truly appreciated. how can find the hidden temporary files using the terminal what do i type in?

    It's more likely a failed Erase Free Space, which creates a huge temporary file; that's why it looks like you have no more available drive space. You can recover from this. See these links

  • How do you apply a master page to multiple documents at the same time?

    How do you apply a master page to multiple documents at the same time?

    Hi friends,
    Thank you for trying to help me out.
    Let me explain it a bit to remove the ambiguity.
    I have 10 documents nested under a book. Each of these documents have 'n' number of pages. I want to apply my custom made master page "First" to the first page of all these 10 documents in one go. The remaining pages of the documents have to be in default "Right" master page format. How will I do it?
    I tried selecting all the documents and importing the formats from another document with the custom made "First" master page. The master page format is getting imported but the first page of all the documents still remain with the default "Right" master page format.
    I think now my question is more clear...

  • Is there a way to select every other page in a multi page pdf and convert it to grayscale?

    I'm going to ask this question in a few sub-forums, so if you think you've seen it, you might have.
    Where I work I use a program that can print to pdf. We use it to produce mailings, usually postcards, that are addressed.
    I often end up with a 500 page document that will print on 250 sheets of cover stock, which will get cut into 1,000 postcard, all pre-addressed and sorted by zip code.
    Usually, the address side is all black and the front is color. The printers we use can print a black click on the address side and a color click on the other, IF the pdf is set up that way. Otherwise, both sides will be counted as color clicks.
    I know I can select pages individually in a pdf and convert them to grayscale and those pages will be counted by the printer as black clicks, which are cheaper than color clicks.
    The problem is, I have not figured out how to convert all the odd numbered pages to grayscale at once. As a result, I usually end up printing the color side simplex, then putting the job back in the tray and printing the black side. Of course, that only works if only one side is personalized, sometimes both sides are.
    Is there a way to select every other page in a pdf and convert it to grayscale?

    The Acrobat SDK has sample code that shows how to convert the colors for one page (the first page of a document). This sample can easily be adjusted to process every other page. You can then use an Action that executes this JavaScript to process the document. Do you know how to create an Action? If so, you can use this script (as I said, adapted from the sample in the SDK) to convert all odd pages (1, 3, 5, ...):
    // Get a color convert action
    var toGray = this.getColorConvertAction();
    // Set up the action for a conversion to RGB
    toGray.matchAttributesAny = -1;
    toGray.matchSpaceTypeAny = ~toGray.constants.spaceFlags.AlternateSpace;
    toGray.matchIntent = toGray.constants.renderingIntents.Any;
    toGray.convertProfile = "Gray Gamma 1.8";
    toGray.convertIntent = toGray.constants.renderingIntents.Document;
    toGray.embed = true;
    toGray.preserveBlack = false;
    toGray.useBlackPointCompensation = true;
    toGray.action = toGray.constants.actions.Convert;
    // Convert every other page
    for (var i=0; i<this.numPages; i++) {
      console.println("Processing page " + i);
      if (i % 2 == 0) {  // change to "if (i % 2 != 0) {" for all even numbers
      console.println("in page " + i);
      console.println(this.colorConvertPage(i, [toGray], []));
    As I've indicated in the code, you can change this to all even numbers by changing the == to !=

    is there a way to stop it in the middle so it does not go through the whole process

    It's called, "FileVault." If there is no option to stop the process, then the best bet would be to wait until decrypting is finished. Otherwise you run the risk of borking the whole thing. It's hard to imagine how you can accidentally turn off FileVault.
