Is there a way to check the strength of available wireless networks from LabVIEW?

I am developing a LabVIEW application that will be used on a large
wireless network and would like to be able to monitor my wireless
signal strength from LabVIEW, similar to the Wireless Network
Connection control panel in Windows XP.  Does anyone know of any
.dll or some Windows API call that I could use from LabVIEW to do
this?
Thanks in advance.

There might well be a .NET assembly that addresses this as well. I don't have a wireless card or any wireless drivers installed, so I can't find anything on my machine. Probably the best place to check is www.msdn.com. Best of luck!

I want to change the name of my personal hotspot from iPhone4 to something else.  Is this possible?

The Personal Hotspot name (SSID) is taken from the name of your phone. So, if you want to change it, change the name of your phone:

How can I verify that my App data is actually stored in the iCloud. I can see and access my notebook, contacts etc. on the iCloud website, and I can see my photos in a folder on my Windows-based desktop compter (iCloud/Photostream). But no app data.
With Dropbox, I can actually see all of my stored files. With iCloud, it seems, I'm supposed to just trust that Apple has my back. Short of deliberately trashing my app data and then attempting a restore, is there no way to check the data?

You can't access them on Windows (unless you have iCloud enabled Windows programs) and I don't think any are, yet.
iCloud data is accessed via Apps/Programs, the Windows programs vendors will have to step up (just to make it worse Microsoft have not yet enabled their Mac programs, such as Office yet) I doubt that iCloud access is much of a priority for them, complain to MS, when enough Windows users complain maybe they'll do something.

That sounds like it will work. I'll try adding a client count
increment/decrement in the DLL initialize and terminate functions. This
should essentially perform the same tasks as the callback scheme you mention
    above, no?
The reason I didn't think the 'client counting' scheme would work initially
was I mistakenly thought that the termination function would not get called
under Terminate conditions. Since Terminate conditions happen a LOT during
our initial debug of new UUT types, I didn't think that would be acceptable.
I forgot that lacing the terminate funciton in a cleanup step group, I can
force it to be called in Terminate conditions.

  • I have connected my time capsule to motorola SG6580 modem via ethernet.  I have a wireless network on the motorola and a wireless network from the time capsule.  I get duplicate IPs error messages sometimes. How do I fix?

I have connected my time capsule to motorola SG6580 modem via ethernet.  I have a wireless network on the motorola and a wireless network from the time capsule.  I get duplicate IPs error messages (no connection) sometimes when trying to connect devices to the wireless network. How do I fix? Sometimes devices cannot connect to the network because of conflicting IPs.  I look on the Motorola and every device has a unique IP assigned but occasionally a device has taken the IP of another device.  I have been writing down all the devices and the IPs they have been using.  It happens more with PCs than Macs, ipads or iPhones.

If the Time Capsule is set up correctly in bridge mode, then it is the responsibility of the Motorola modem/router to provide the correct IP address assignments for all devices on the network.
Check to insure that the Time Capsule is correctly set up to operate in bridge mode as follows:
On your Mac, open AirPort Utility
Finder > Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utility
Click on the Time Capsule icon, then click Edit in the smaller window that appears
Click the Network tab at the top of the next window
Insure that the setting for Router Mode is configured to read "Off (Bridge Mode)"
Once you have confirmed that the Time Capsule is configured correctly, everything else is the responsibility of the Motorola modem/router as far as network routing and IP address assignments for devices.
If you continue to have IP address issues, then you should contact the Internet Service Provider (ISP) that provided the Motorola device to you and ask them to fix the issue.

  • Is there any way to check the age of an iphone when buyinga used unit?

im buying a used iphone off kijiji and the owner said its 4 months old, is ther any way to check this to be fact?

Unfortunately, no. That link will tell you if the phone has been reported stolen, but it has no way of knowing if the phone has been hacked, either physically or via software.
The other thing to watch out for is sometimes a shady seller will tell you a serial number that isn't the same as the phone you eventually get.
A high percentage of iPhones sold over the Internet are hacked or jailbroken, and many of them are also stolen.

  • Is there any way of checking the wan IP Address of...

Have a dynamic dns address that does not appear to be assigned to my routers wan ip address. I am not at home at the moment and wondered whether there is anyway to check the wan ip address remotely. Config of the router is turned off from the internet facing address. When nmaping the dynamic dns address it does not appear to be the router at my home location. Any thoughts ?
    Many thanks,

Have you got an update client running on the router or a PC? The home hub has an inbuilt one which you need to configure before it will work.

  • Is there any way to affect the progress of availability (iTunes cloud services) for my country?

I am a Norwegian iTunes user, and have purchased various songs on various devices (MabBook, iPhone, iMac).
I'm getting sick and tired of not being able to sync my purchases to all devices.
    - Is there any way to provoke the progress of getting services like Match in my country too?

Primarely i was thinking about http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5085.
But i think the lack of automatic downloads is an automatic result of not being able to use the cloud for music/video.
You might not be aware of this, but there's currently no way for me (and many others) to have the same files on more than one device (unless paying for another copy).

  • HT2497 Airport is not recognizing my wireless network because my wireless network has the same name as another apartment in my builing.  I cannot change the name because my room mate controls it, is there any way I can make it find my wireless network?

It used to be that the other apartment with the same name didn't have theirs password protected so even though only one or the other would show up, I could always get onto one.  Now, they have password protected theirs and it seems to be that 100% of the time only theirs shows up which I only can tell because it says "invalid password" when I try to connect to the Internet.
I have asked my room mate to just change the name of the network but she is really slow to do anything about it and I need to be able to get the internet at home and the internet is in her and set up through her computer so I really don't have any way of being the one to just go in and fix it myself.
Is there any other way to make Airport recognize that there are two different networks with the same way so it will find mine?  I feel like I have tried everything including mannually typing in the name of my network and typing my password and it still just says "invalid password."  I have also double checked that I was typing in the correct password and I am.  My room mate is not having any problems accessing the Internet so I know the problem is not with our connection (she also has a Mac, almost the same model as me, I have a MacBook Pro purchased in 2011).  I am also able to connect to the Internet on my Mac at coffee shops and the library so I know that the problem is not my computer or my wireless connection so I'm pretty sure it is just that Airport is somehow only recognizing one of the two "WLAN" networks
    Any help???!

Hi - you can do what you want to do with AirPlay from your iPhone - but unfortunately it is not as easy as the people in the Apple store told you - your first problem is that you have a non Apple router - you cannot extend a non Apple router wirelessly with the Express - you can only join the network and connect an ethernet device to it - you can however connect via ethernet and have it create a wireless network of its' own - you can set this up from your iPhone or the XP - but this is a complicated setup and would involve many different discussion areas of this forum - therefore I would suggest that you use your 90 days of support and consult directly with Apple to do this - go to this link - http://www.apple.com/support/contact/

  • Is there a way to see the IP addresses I logged in from?

Is there a way to see my IP addresses that I logged into my Apple ID from? Looking around other people thought this was just something Apple did from time to time, but I figure if I can see my login IPs I should be able to evaluate if there was any suspicious activity. I didn't see a way when I logged in to change my password as a precaution. Google does a good job of letting you see your IP logins.
I got this email from Apple
    Dear ****,
“iPhone” was automatically removed as a trusted device from two-step verification for your Apple ID (m•••••@email.address)
Your trusted devices are used to verify your identity when you make changes to your account, sign in to iCloud, or make iTunes or App Store purchases from a new device.
To protect your security, when you erase a device it will be removed from your list of trusted devices. To re-verify your device, sign in to My Apple ID choose Password and Security, and then Add or Remove Trusted Devices.
If you did not erase this device or if you believe an unauthorized person has accessed your account, you should reset your account password immediately at My Apple ID.

Sign out of the iTunes Store then back in. That will refresh the amout.

  • Is there anyway I can add the capsule to my wireless network for backing up my stuff and storing files on?

My wireless router is downstairs and I just want to use my time capsule to back up my mac and store things on it wirelessly. Can I do this without putting it next to my router?
    Thanks

You can configure the Time Capsule to "join a wireless network" and it will connect using wireless only. In effect, it becomes a wireless hard drive in this type of setup.
Of course, it will need to be located where it will receive a good signal from your wireless router. Ceilings are a difficult obstruction for most wireless networks, so you may need to experiment to find a good location for the Time Capsule.

  • Is there a way to check the date i purchased my powerbook G4?

    cant exactly remember/.

Unless you registered with Applecare when you bought it, there's nothing from Apple online to verify the date bought. It's possible you could contact your local Apple store or Apple Customer Service to ask if they could tell you. Or, if you paid by check or credit card, go find those records.
