Is there a way to configure win 8 Laptop to airport express? I can see the connection to the wireless network, but troubleshooter suggests there's there is no gateway and of course no internet. The connection
shows limited. Any help you could provide would be most appreciated. Further, should I simply buy another router for the windows machine? If I did that, would it interfere with the airport?

The internal HDDs must be formatted in either EXT3 or EXT4 file system because NSS uses Linux OS. This is mainly because the RAM designed to fit with the customized Linux OS's size.
You can connect to an external HDD via a USB or eSATA port. The external HDD's file system can be NTFS, FAT32, AFT or EXT3/4 to be recognized for read/write. You can connect a 2TB USB/eSATA drive connec to the NSS via USB port to format your HDD for NTFS, AFT, FAT32, or EXT3/4 partition.
You can join the NSS to a Windows domainr so all domain users to access NSS. You cannot replace the NSS for the Windows 2003 SP2 server. They are two different products and do different jobs. Windows server is features sets server while the NSS is the files/data server.

Yes, I did try to go on my settings>wifi and was waiting for any wifi signals to pick up, but nothing shows up. But on my PC I get a whole list of networks to choose from. Regarding my neighbor, I already have her password that is why I was able to get it on my PC, the problem is that the mini Ipad is not picking any signal neither can it locate me when I go to maps.

I'm new to this forum and I hope someone can help me.
I'm visiting friends in Berlin from Canada with my Powerbook G4 with OS10.4.11. I can't detect my host's wireless network even though I can detect 24 other wireless networks in her apartment building (I downloaded MacStumbler and used it to check). I know her network ("Jenny") is not hidden because she got a friend across the courtyard the same apartment building to check if she could see it on her computer this morning, which she could. I also tried to find "Jenny" by clicking on "Other" and then entering "Jenny" in "Network Name" and entering the WAP password my friend gave me (I also checked that with her so I know it is right) under both WPA Personal and WPA2 Personal. That didn't work either. I also followed advice on this forum and got rid of that stupid pop-up box saying "Your Network Settings have been changed by another application" when I clicked on System Preferences/Network
What should I do? All my friend knows is that she has a PC, she doesn't know the brand or model of her router or her ISP provider. If I can't solve this, I will be in big trouble as I had planned to stay in Berlin for a few months using my friend's wireless network to get online every day. I can get online fine via her router when I have a cable plugged into my computer in her flat, but I am staying across the courtyard in their second flat and we can't string a cable across the courtyard... It won't let me do that. When I go to the Network window of my System Preferences, it says Location: Automatic, and it won't let me click on New Location or on Edit Locations - they are pale grey.
Also, it says Show Network Port Configurations and it gives me six: Internal Modem, Airport, Bluetooth, Built-in Ethernet, Built-in Firewire, VPN (L2TP) whatever that is, and Ethernet Adaptor (en2), and I don't know if that is the cable from my friend's router or the new stick adaptor I bought (it doesn't change, whichever I have plugged in), but all these are also pale grey and I can't click on them or on the boxes marked New Rename Delete or Duplicate.
Also the stick adaptor I bought is not showing up in my Finder window as an attached device - shouldn't it? This means I can't eject it safely when I want to. There are no instructions enclosed with it or on the manufacturer's website.
When I click on Network Status with the cable attached, it says I am currently connected to the Internet via built-in Ethernet with the IP address 192.168.0.112 so I guess built-in Ethernet must be the cable. So if the Ethernet Adaptor (en2) is the adaptor stick, maybe it isn't being recognized by my computer because it is on channel 13?

I imported 100 photos, when I was reading photos iphoto crushed, and when I restarted iphoto all photos imported had disappeared!Is there a way to find them. They were imported, they can not have disappeared from the hard disk?

I imported 100 photos from my camera (Canon) into iphoto. The importation went well, and when I was watching the photos, suddenly iphoto crashed. I restarted iphoto and realized that the photos had disapered. The events are availbble into iphoto but they are empty, the photos have dispeared. I can not believe they disapeared as they have been imported and read once, they must be hidden somewhere on the disk? Is there a way to find where they are?

1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down to open the First Aid window.

SO, a genius at my store told me there are some bugs to work through with SONy cameras and Apple. But I needed the sony camera because of how good they are in lowlight, among other features. Does anyone have trouble with Final Cut and there SONY cameras?? Is there a better video editing software??

Is there any way to configure storage queue message encoding for Web Job's QueueTrigger?

We have a web job that listens to Azure storage queue via QueueTrigger. The queue messages are not encoded when they are added to the queue:
CloudStorageAccount account = CloudStorageAccount.Parse("...");
CloudQueueClient client = account.CreateCloudQueueClient();
CloudQueue queue = client.GetQueueReference("test1");
queue.EncodeMessage = false;
queue.AddMessage(new CloudQueueMessage("hello world"));
And in the web job, we use the below method to listen to the queue.

And the web job crashes when it gets a message, with the below output. Unfortunately we cannot control the encode setting of the coming messages. So, our question is, is there any way to configure queue message encoding for Web Job's QueueTrigger?

Two laptops in the same place - only one connects to a wireless network

I share a room with the guy I'm working with, and his computer (older MB) easily connects to the wireless connection for a fast connection. He has full bars on the Airport icon. My older MBP took several tries to even connect to the wireless network and it doesn't get many bars. It is very slow. Is there any fix to this problem?

To avoid the +"been there done that"+ scenarios, please advise what troubleshooting methods you have already tried to rectify the problem.
Have you run the network or router Diagnostic test for example? Check your network and router settings?

Box won't stay checked for my laptop to automatically connect to my wireless network.

I checked the box under "Wireless network properties" to "Connect automatically when this network is in range" but somehow it un-checks itself and then won't connect to my network until I re-check it again. The "un-checking" usually happens after
I put the laptop to sleep and then wake it back up. It also un-checks it when I restart my laptop. Any idea what is causing this to happen since it is very annoying. This doesn't happen with Windows XP...

First, please try to update the network adapter driver to latest version to check the result.
Meanwhile, when trying to connect the Wireless network, please check the “Start the connection automatically” option. Then, when you trying to connect certain Wireless network next time,
it should connect to the Wireless network automatically.

There was an error connecting to the ATT network

I am trying to get help figuring out why when I try to connect on a wireless ATT modem I get an error message saying, "There was an error connecting to the network ATT5216." ATT could not help solve the problem. Anybody got any answers?

It didn't work. I typed in 17.149.160.49 in the browser bar and I got the message "You are not connected to the Internet. Safari can't open the page http://www.apple.com/stratpage because your computer isn't connected to the Internet. The AirPort is connected to the wireless network though. When i go to System Preferences>Network>AirPort and try and detect DHCP settings automatically by clicking on "renew DHCP lease" nothing happens. So I set all the paramemters manually using an AirPort address of 192.168.1.164 Subnet mask 255.255.255.0 and router address of 192.168.1.254. This hasn't solved the problem either. Do you think upgrading to 10.5 would help? I'm not so sure it would.

Thank you very much for your reply. The idea is to decommission the Windows file server which is running Windows Server 2003 SP2 operating system but is not running as a DC but just a member server. All this server is doing is providing file server services so my idea is to replace it with the NSS 324 box. My only concern is that when my NSS joins the domain all my users would be able to see and access network shares transparently, the same way they saw the former W2003 file server. After I transferred the data from File server I will use the same for NSS that was used for file server as well as same IP address and folders path as before.
Any suggestions or advice?

You can do continous recording using SPAN ports or DMS with 3rd party products like Verint Impact 360.

I have the same problem, my laptop was stolen with my girlfriend's icloud activated on. If the Laptop is switched on with access to the internet it will connect to icloud. How can I find out the IP's that are connected to my icloud. That lack of information who is connected to your icloud is not qool . Sorry for my english.

As it now stands whenever I receive email it goes to all 3 devices necessitating the need to physically read and/or delete the messages from all 3 devices. Is there some way to configure Mac Mail to eliminate these steps or do I just have to keep manually removing mail messages as I'm now doing?

Create your accounts for IMAP instead of POP.

In Apple Mail preferences, Accounts, when you go to set up a new mail account you click the plus in the lower left as usual. When the Add account sheet is displayed if you press the option key while clicking the Continue button you will be given a window to define the account as POP or IMAP.
Alternatively if you enter an invalid email address into the Add Account window and juct click Continue (no option key) you will again be given the IMAP/POP choice. This technique I think will work in the other itoys as well.

Sorry - should have been more specific. As far as I can see, Keynote will only allow me to see the current slide and the next slide on my laptop when I am presenting a slideshow through a projector. But an old version of PowerPoint allowed me to show the current slide....and (adjustable) many more slides ahead (say 10)....so I could simply jump ahead to a 'future' slide and skip several slides in between. Net result being that I was able to matcgh my slides to group discussions rather than stick to a fixed, predetermined slide show.
As much as it pains me, without this facility - PowerPoint (old verson, not current one) is more useful for me! :-((

Apps are only tied to one account... You can set up two iTunes accounts on your computer, however, and let his iPad sync to his account. If he has never backed up his apps to a computer, however, he will have to redownload all the apps. Afterwards, he can backup to iCloud instead of your computer.
