Is there a way to distinguish columns of overloaded procedures when using getProcedureColumns() method of DatabaseMetaData?

I suspect you are talking about some Java method?

    HELP!  Is there a way to change column information in iTunes such as name of artist, genre etc, other than deleting them one at a time? Such as the way you delete an entire group of songs by holding down control keys or selecting the Select All command. Thanks.

    If you select all the songs you want to change, Be it one song or an akbum, or an Artist, Or Genre, or playlist. Then Right mouse click  and Get Info. You then get a slightly different from normal Get Info box as this is the One for Multiple items.
    In there have a look at the tags and see if the one you want to changes is in there. There are a few tabs so if for example you wanted to change the Media Type from Home Movie to Movie go to the Options tab and select Movie and OK and it will change the whole selection.

  • Is there any way to set column width is GridaBagLayout?

    Is there any way to set it up like tables in html - where you specify the width and height of the cell and then place the component inside it - with the component not resizing the cell unless it is larger than the cell area?
    Thanks.

    Thanks Paul, please excuse the sarcasm - I just found your recommendation funny. I actually found some examples of Box.filler and have created a method for adding one for each column I want:
    public void addFillerColumn(int width, int height, int colNum, int rowNum )
    panel.add( new Box.Filler(new Dimension(width,height),new Dimension(width,height),new Dimension(width,height)),
    new GridBagConstraints( colNum, //gridx
    rowNum, //gridy
    1, //gridwidth
    1, //gridheight
    0, //weightx
    0, //weighty
    GridBagConstraints.WEST, //anchor
    GridBagConstraints.NONE, //fill
    new Insets(0,0,0,0), //insets(, left,,)
    0, //ipadx
    0 )); //ipady*/
    }

  • Is there a way to specify columns to be excluded from the NLSSORT function

    Hi, in order to enable case-insensitive searches in oracle without making significant app changes, we've added a login trigger that enables linguistic sorting by setting the session params:
    alter session set nls_comp=LINGUISTIC;
    alter session set nls_sort=BINARY_CI;
    While this gives us exactly the desired behavior for all our actual linguistic data, 90% of our primary key fields are typed as varchar2 fields that contain GUIDs. This is a problem because the primary key index is a binary index but when we query for a row by its primary key, we're getting table scans because the query is being translated to using the NLSSORT function because of our session setup.
    Here's a specific example of what we're seeing:
    SQL> create table t1 (c1 varchar2(255) not null, c2 varchar2(255) null, primary key (c1));
    Table created.
    SQL> set autotrace traceonly explain;
    SQL> select * from t1 where c1='t';
    Execution Plan
    Plan hash value: 3617692013
    | Id | Operation | Name | Rows | Bytes | Cost (%CPU)| Time |
    | 0 | SELECT STATEMENT | | 1 | 258 | 2 (0)| 00:00:01 |
    |* 1 | TABLE ACCESS FULL| T1 | 1 | 258 | 2 (0)| 00:00:01 |
    Predicate Information (identified by operation id):
    1 - filter(NLSSORT("C1",'nls_sort=''BINARY_CI''')=HEXTORAW('7400') )
    Note
    - dynamic sampling used for this statement
    I understand why this is occurring and I know that if I add an NLSSORT based index to the primary key columns on each of our tables (in addition to the existing unique index used by the PK constraint) that second index will cause my query to perform an index range scan. However, for various reasons this is something of a daunting task in our app and we'd like to avoid the double indexes for performance reasons as well. So what I'd prefer to do is find a way to tell the session to NOT apply the NLSSORT function when it sees these columns in incoming SQL, but I haven't read anything that leads me to believe that such blacklisting is a feature of the NLS libraries. If anyone knows whether this is possible or not or if you have an alternate approach, I'd really appreciate your feedback.
    Thanks!

    Unfortunately, there is no way to avoid this problem globally. We are aware of this deficiency and we will look for a solution for some future release. In the meantime, you will need, unfortunately, to code the workaround you mentioned.

  • Is there a way to creat column rules in newsletters?

    I've tried using the callout lines, but it'd awkward. Is there a simple way to drop in a vertical or horizontal column rule between stories and columns in a newsletter?
    Thank you.

    I'll bite: how do you do that?
    I gotta be honest... I have been trying out pages for about 2-hours now and I haven't created 1/2 a page yet. As far as creating a line, I go to insert>shape>line. I get a diagonal line which I can move perpendicular or horizontal but that's it... I can't move it say to the center of the page. I am no InDesign pro by any means (far, far from it: that is my wife's department). I picked up Pages so I coud create simple brochures/handouts quicker than stumbling through InDesign. But, I guess it's back to InDesign for now. But if someone can tell me how to move that #@*^%#$ line, it would be a strat!

  • Is there a way to change column width in Numbers on iPad?

    Using Numbers on both iPad and MacBook Pro.  On iPad I cannot figure out how to make some columns wider, and when I import a spreadsheet from my MacBook to the iPad  the columns all become uniform size.  too skinny for what I want to do.

    James,
    If I get my hands on an iPad with Numbers I'll try to figure it out. In the interim, you coud post your question in the iOS iWork area and see if you get a bite there.

  • Is there a way to import columns of excel sheet as separate pages in indesign cc?

    The whole problem is in the question.
    Thanks
    Serge

    You can also specify a range when placing the spreadsheet.
    >You can not generate and insert new pages by importing anything.
    Well, that's not true. That's exactly what happens when you import text and autoflow. I don't know any way to make that work with a spreadsheet, though, without scripting. I suspect it would ge relatively easy to script importing columns from Excel on a one column:one page basis, but you need to ask over  in the scripting forum: InDesign Scripting

  • Is there any way to make column width and height 0 by using formula?

    Eg:
    =If (column = value) then Column width = 0px and height = 0px

    Hi Riaz,
    Instead of kepping column width and height as 0, you can just hide the particular column by using the same function that you mentioned above, (if column = value) in hide..
    You can just right click on the column->hide->hide if->dimension=value.

  • Is there a way of combining From and To columns in Mail?

    I've just tumbled to the fact that Mail displays separate From and To columns--rather than an integrated Who or Correspondent one.
    In Thunderbird, with the add on Show InOut, or in the venerable Eudora, by default, there is a single column that shows you who the correspondent was and neatly italcizes your sent messages, so you can tell at a glance whether it was something you sent to the person or something they sent you.
    It's bizarre having to look back and forth at From and To to figure that out rather than scanning down a single column.  Having to display both columns also takes up needless room!
    Is there any way in Mail of combining those columns so that it works like Eudora or Thunderbird with its addon?
    Does Mail have an add on systems or take extensions?

    No application can change how the built in Contacts app works, or the Contacts list within Phone. To access your contacts, you'd need to use a third-party app that pulls the data from your contact info and shows it differently.
    But I don't know if there is one that offers the layout you describe--search and compare screenshots. Sometimes I find it easier to browse this website than the App Store in iTunes:
    http://appshopper.com/search/?search=contacts
    Maybe this one?

    For changes to the built-in apps, you'd need to ask Apple:

  • Is there a way to Search (List search) for more then one field text from a column for Bulk uploading?

    I've been trying to find more information on this and I apologies if this has already been answered. I just don't know the correct way to ask this. We have a SharePoint List at the company that we have people input information into different columns. The
    problem is most of those information are very repetitive. Is there a way for me to search more then one field text in the column and just input that same information in?
    ex:
    Column 1
    Column 2
    Date:
    883851
    MidWest
    User input
    8831518
    MidWest
    User input
    On the search field in the SharePoint List, I would need to search for 883851, 8831518 etc,  would view those requested numbers, then I would click edit and change dates to those rows. Does that make sense? I'm sorry I'm fairly new at sharepoint.

    I think what you're asking is about having repetitive options in a list, show up easily for new items being created.
    This can be done by setting the columns that contain repetitive information to Choice fields.  In the configuration of the Choice field, check the box for "Allow custom values".  Now as users are entering data into the list, the dropdown of options
    for a given field grows and users can quickly see and select previously entered and thus repetitive values for the given fields.
    I trust that answers your question...
    Thanks

    Thank you. I have heard of Logic Pro 7, but I have never personally used it. I'm still growing in the world of Composition, and I know that it is something I will be studying in one of my Computer Music classes coming up for my degree. I think it is something I will look into getting once I can justify the price of it. I guess for the time being, I will continue to play and grow in my ability to use and take advantage of GB, and then see what I can do about or with Logic Pro when I'm ready. The thought of spending $1000 for a program is hard to bite, because I've already spent a lot to produce my music, not only electronic music, but also chamber music and so on. I had no idea it would be so expensive to dive deep into the world of composition! lol.
    Finale 2007: $500
    Sibelius 4: $500
    Jam Packs: $400
    Midi Keyboard Interface: $100
    PowerBook: $1700
    Printer for printing scores and analysis: $150
    Logic Pro 7: Oy!
    As you can see it adds up very quickly...that doesn't even include my personal instruments and study materials.
    Thank you for your input, as I haven't really worked much with LP, and therefore didn't know which features are available. I will talk with some of my Composition buddies, and professors and see what they have to say as well, and who knows, I may be able to get the express version through one of them.

  • Is there a way of restricting access to columns in a BI BEANS report?

    Hi,
    I was wondering if there is a way to retrict access to a column in a BI BEANS crosstab report. The scenario is, if a particular user has the priviledges to see the profit column in a crosstab, but another user doesn't is there any way to stop the less restricted user from seeing this column using the same BI BEANS report?
    This is really the alternative to having 2 reports, 1 with the profit column and 1 without, and depending on what user is logged in, it will show one or the other.
    Regards,
    Scott.

    Hi Scott,
    This is an interesting question.
    If I presume you are talking about an OLAP data source where data does not reside in an Analytic Workspace, then the following is true :-
    The BI Beans respects database security and therefore the user has access to a particular schema(s) and table(s) in the database.
    When talking about cubes, you must remember a cube is mapped to a particular Fact table and dimensions.
    Because a Measure is a constituent sub-component of a cube, unless the measures are sourced from different fact tables with different user privileges, then it would be difficult to discriminate against users and hide columns or measures.
    Basically, what I am saying is:
    A cube is the finest granularity at which users can be differentiated.
    A cube maps to a fact table, hence this is the level at which the DB grants are applied.
    Unless measures belonged to different cubes, and hence different fact tables, then it would be impossible to discriminate against users and access to different columns/measures.
    What you could do however, at the BI Beans application level is :-
    Before displaying a presentation object, you could filter the Query programmatically and remove components which you did not want to display i.e. measures etc.
    This would require more leg work with the presentation object and filtering the embedded query, but would achieve the same effect. You would have to work out a method of validating users too and what they had access to.
    I hope this answers your Question.
    Should you require more information, please let us know.
    Many Thanks

  • Is there a way of merging cells (not columns) in a Flex Datagrid?

    Hello everyone!
    I'm new to Flex and I have been searching for a solution to this problem for two days now, so any help would be really appreciated!
    I have a datagrid of, lets say x columns of fixed size, with the ability to add or remove rows dynamically. When adding a row o popup comes up and lets the user determine the positions(order) and widths of the desired cells of the row. So what I want to do is to be able to merge cells of the new Datagrid row appropriately, to satisfy the user's choices. Thats the general idea.
    Is there a way to have a Datagrid (or other similar component) with different cell number and widths for each row in Flex? I need a component similar to the Datagrid because I want to be able to select rows and process their data.
    Any idea would be very helpful as I'm pressed for time and I could use someone's experience to search in the right direction and not loose time.
    Thanks in advance!

    Thank you very much for your response. I finally did what I wanted without using a Datagrid. I used a Table Flex Component (which extends Flex Grid) that I found here:
    http://code.google.com/p/flex-table/#Demo
    I downloaded the source and changed some things to make it work as I need.

  • Is there a way to match all columns in a table?

    Oracle 11.1.0.7:
    Is there any way to say match all the columns of Table A with Table B? For eg:
    Table A
    id
    name
    Table B
    id
    name
    Is there a way to say match all the columns with similar column in other in a select instead of doing "where A.id = B.id and A.name = b.name"? I am trying to write a compare script to test that replication is indeed doing the right thing.

    While I was doing the comparision I found that if column x in Table A has "null" and same column x in table B has "null" and if I do "where A.x = B.x" then it doesn't return the row. I am not sure why. Does "minus" work the same way?That's because NULL will never equal any value (including NULL) and NULL will never not equal any value (including NULL). That is
    NULL = 1 is unknown (which maps to false)
    NULL = NULL is unknown
    NULL != 1 is unknown
    NULL != NULL is unknown
    If you want to compare columns that may have NULL values, you need to use IS NULL and IS NOT NULL or use the NVL function to map NULL values to a non-NULL but impossible value, i.e.
    WHERE (a.x = b.x OR
            (a.x is null and b.x is null))or
    WHERE nvl(a.x,-17) = nvl(b.x,-17)assuming that -17 is not a valid value for either a.x or b.x

  • Is there a way to open CSV files with more than 255 columns?

    I have a CSV file with more than 255 columns of data.  It's a fairly standard export of social media data that shows volume of posts by day for the past year, from which I can analyze the data and publish customized charts. Very easy in Excel but I'm hitting the Numbers limit of 255 columns per table. Is there a way to work around the limitation? Perhaps splitting the CSV in two? The data shows up in the CSV file when I open via TextEdit, so it's there. Just can't access it in Numbers. And it's not very usable/useful for me in TextEdit.
    Regards,
    Tim

    You might be better off with Excel. Even if you could find a way to easily split the CSV file into two tables, it would be two tables when you want only one.  You said you want to make charts from this data.  While a series on a chart can be constructed from data in two different tables, to do so takes a few extra steps for each series on the chart.
    For a test to see if you want to proceed, make two small tables with data spanning the tables and make a chart from that data.  Make the chart the normal way using the data in the first table then repeat the following steps for each series
    Select the series in the chart
    Go to Format sidebar
    Click in the "Value" box
    Add a comma then select the data for this series from the second chart
    Press Return
    If there is an easier way to do this, maybe someone else will chime in with that info.
