Is there any close event of firefox browser ?

I want to capture the event that fire when I close the browser.
Is there any way to capture event using JavaScript/JQuery?
Thanks

The last version that works on OS X 10.3 is Firefox 2.0.0.20 available from http://releases.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/2.0.0.20/mac/en-US/
The above link automatically takes you to one of the download mirrors, but not all of the mirrors have this old version. The above link is the preferred method to download Firefox as it spreads the load across different servers, but if you get an error message when accessing that link, you can get it from here instead - ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/2.0.0.20/mac/en-US/

  • Is there any way to force Firefox to remember passwords?

As many have complained about, there is a growing trend for websites to prevent browsers, including Firefox, from remembering passwords. This is absolutely infuriating. Like most people, I have on the order of 100 passwords, and thanks to idiotic, overzealous IT guys who need to justify their own jobs, we are forced to constantly change them to ludicrous, impossible-to-remember combinations of symbols and numbers. (Does anybody really get their accounts stolen because some hacker sits down and tries to guess their password? Somehow I find that very, very hard to believe.)
First world problems, I know. My question though is simple: is there any way to force Firefox to remember passwords? Perhaps an add-on or external program of some kind? I know there are password manager programs, but the last time I checked, those were all but worthless and didn't work as well as the built-in Firefox support for remembering passwords. Thanks for any help.

hello andrew, yes you can either [https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/remember-passwords/ install an addon] or [https://www.squarefree.com/bookmarklets/forms.html#remember_password use a bookmarklet] to circumvent this restriction.
in an upcoming version of firefox, this functionality will also be built-in directly into the browser: http://www.ghacks.net/2013/12/24/firefox-29-save-fill-autocompleteoff-passwords/

  • Federal court website gives a .pl document which opens as garbage until we manually change it to .pdf, is there any way to get Firefox to do this automatically?

I am using a Mac. When downloading a document from the federal court website using Firefox, we get a .pl document which opens as garbage (in TextEdit) until we manually change it to .pdf, which causes it to open just fine (in Preview). It used to work fine, giving a .pdf document every time, but apparently upgrades to Firefox have removed this functionality. As far as I can tell my computer, an iMac running Mac system OS X 10.10.1, does not recognize the .pl format. Is there any way to get Firefox to automatically convert a downloaded file from .pl format to .pdf format? My friend tells me that Google Chrome downloads these documents with no problem. I would prefer to stick with Firefox but I might have to change if every downloaded document is in an unreadable format.
This is a typical example of what I get when I try to open a .pl document (the pdf version is a one page document using plain English):
    =====
    %PDF-1.5

  • Is there any way to set Firefox to remember history for a certain amount of time rather than all or nothing?

In previous versions, there was a choice to remember browsing history for a certain number of days, but in the current version the only choices seem to be to remember history or not remember history, with no way to customize in between. I don't want to have to clear my history and cache manually all the time, but I don't want it cleared every time I close my browser, either. Has the customization feature been removed entirely or am I missing something? And if it's been removed entirely, could it please be brought back? It's helpful for people who want their older browsing history to be deleted without deleting the entire history.

  • Is there any rowclick event in h:dataTable?

    Hi All,
I'm in a critical situation where i need to get the rowdata at my backing bean on click of a row. And i need to display some details of the clicked row in the same page itself.
I could find a work around to get the rowdata using radio button or link. I didn't get the proper way to do that. Is there any problem to display the details in same page with this approach?
    Please advice.

    Hello Renju,
I'm using javascript to solve that problem. I'm able to put the onclick event to each row on the table. Now the issue is with the clicked row.
I need to know the selected index of the row in the backing bean and also call one actionListener method to load some data in the page.
i tried using the <inputHidden> to store the value of the selected row and used its valueChangeListener. But thru javascript it is not possible to set the JSF component value.
    Is there any workaround available?

  • On existing NWBC  is there any exit event?

    Hi..
I am working on web dynpro (ABAP) and i dont have knowledge on NWBC.
When we exit web dynpro portal a method WDDOEXIT()  will be called which will acts as a destructor.
Is there any such kind of exiting event or a destructor in NWBC?
    So please help me..
    Thanks
    Vimalraj

Add a listener for EXITING event. AIR dispatches EXITING event on iOS when application is about to be exited. Your application can execute for around 5 seconds after receiving this event.
    NativeApplication.nativeApplication.addEventListener(Event.EXITING, onExit);
    function onExit(e:Event):void
// code to be executed upon exit.
Please note that EXITING event is not dispatch if application is in suspended in background.

  • Is there any particular reason why Firefox is running crappy this weekend?? I also have Google Chrome and that is running great.

  • Is there any way to disable Firefox from updating my browser?

I have been an ardent Firefox user ever since Firefox began, having created innumerable Firefox users through the effusive enthusiasm in which I have promoted Firefox to others. But the manner in which Firefox has been demonstrating its total disdain for its loyal cadre of users like myself has me infuriated to no end, to the point of dumping Firefox altogether out of sheer frustration, anger with Firefox's absolute disregard to the requests of its users, who have pleaded to have a mechanism in which the all-too frequent updates wreaks havoc with our lives, livelihood.
The worst aspect of Firefox's dictatorial approach is the manner in which truth is the first casualty in
having a process to disable the update process which is very much akin to the manner in which Foie gras is produced. I have been given all sorts of advice, guidance on how to disable the update process
none of which have done a wit to fulfill my request of the specific needs of a browser that serves my interest and purpose, one in which is very much entwined with the work I do online as what I do for a living.
The insults Firefox perpetuates against users like me in providing phony approaches that in the end
turn out to be just another dead end is nothing short of nefarious. My attempt for the umpteenth
time in trying to put a stop to these updates is a terrible business practice, doing the worst sort of harm, to those who have been most loyal to the Firefox cause.
Just today, despite applying every sort of suggestion to stop these infernal updates, Firefox has once
again found a new way to bring me closer to becoming forever alienated.
This morning I noticed browsers all on five computers updated when I specifically had in place every
contingency for disabling these updates and so once again, I deleted every last remnant of Firefox off of my computer and started anew with a browser from Old Apps.com after going through my checklist
of steps to insure the updates will never cross my path again.
But despite doing everything to stop it, checking never to be updated, having extensions applied manually and a host of other faux approaches to disable the updates, I nearly lost it when noticing
that all computers were displaying the latest updates.
After today's latest debacle with the game you play with us users, it came to me like a ton of bricks falling loose right on top of me, how on a smaller scale, you, your tactics, your total obliviousness to the requests needs of our users, reminded me of Microsoft in its heyday.
That's a very sad, tragic legacy to be reminiscent of.

You can install Firefox ESR, '''which updates every year, but is aimed for IT and biz users.''' We also dont support it here, but '''you can install it''', the current version is 17.0.7.
    * https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/organizations/all
Or another solution is to go to FIrefox button > Options > Advanced > Update > Disable Auto updates
If disabling autoupdate doesnt work you can see [[How to fix preferences that won't save]].
Hopefully you found my advice well!

  • Are there any add-ons to add browser buttons to Firefox Mobile

I love Firefox for the desktop. Unfortunately, so far Firefox for the Android phone has turned out to be kinda crappy. One of my biggest complaints is the complete and utter lack of browser buttons. What sort of mental incompetent sticks the Back, Forward, Refresh and Bookmark buttons in a freaking <i>dropdown menu</i>? Even the default browser was smart enough to put the buttons at the top of the browser window where they were actually convenient to use. Does anyone know if there is some sort of Add-On that I could install in order to correct this massive oversight? Or perhaps a "web app", whatever those are?
Additionally, if there's an Add-On to get rid of that horrible, ugly, cluttered, inconvenient, slightly intrusive quote-unquote "Awesome" Page, that would also be greatly appreciated.

    Hi BrokenEye,
The people who answer questions here, for the most part, are other Firefox users volunteering their time (like me), not Mozilla employees or Firefox developers. Users with ''heightened'' privileges have a '''Moderator''' label (such as myself) under their name and Mozilla employees have an '''Administrator''' label. Right now, there are not that many contributors out and about answering questions since we are all in different time zones all around the world.
AaronMT is a Senior Test Developer in the Quality Assurance team at Mozilla, so I'm pretty sure he's spot on with his answer.
One thing I can suggest is if you take a look at the [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/android/addon/quick-gestures/ Quick Gesture addon for Android].
Let us know if that helps you out.
    Thanks!

  • I'm a Mac user. Is there any way to make FireFox play .wmv files within the browser, like Safari does?

    Nothing else left to say.

I just have a hard time comprehending why they don't handle file structure sorting.
It's not a difficult thing to understand. It is, in fact, a computing science +industry standard+, deviations from it are the +unusual and esoteric+, not something I'd expect from one of the industry's giants - certainly not a mandatory deviation.
It seems like it's a decision that only serves to frustrate people. I can understand why they would want a metadata sorting mode; I can even see making that the default setting... I'm just kind of flabberghasted at the uninclusion of an alternative file sorting method for those of us who trust our own devices better than metadata that may be incorrect, missing, typographically flawed, or what-have-you. I can get to my own music just fine... On my PC. Why not my iPod? Why does the industry-leading mp3 player have to make it a frustrating and difficult chore to find the media I want to play?

  • Is there any way of removing the browser buttons from the right click menu?

Recently when I right-click on a web page, there are browser buttons (forward, backward, refresh, bookmarks) on the right-click menu for some inexplicable reason. I mean, its kind of absurd that anyone would put browser buttons there, considering the real browser buttons literally right there at the top of the window, and I guess that kinda bugs me.
Anyway, how did I get rid of them? There doesn't seem to be any way to do so in the customize window, and I've been looking for an add-on but don't really know what to search for. Does anyone know?
Where did those come from anyway? They weren't there a week ago, and I'm pretty sure these things don't normally just pop up out of nowhere. If nobody knows, its really not important. The important thing is getting rid of them. Thanks!

That was a new feature in Firefox 32, which was released back in September. Use this UserStyle to get rid of those buttons and restore the text menu items.

  • Is there a interface problem between Firefox browser & turbo tax

Have been using Firefox as my browser for a few years and like it very much.
Have also been using Turbo Tax for eight years...never a problem
This year I get into a perpetual loop with Turbo Tax. Their solutions haven't worked consistently.
They want me to change browser...I don't want to
Feel problem is their reinitialization software and not a browser issue.
Have any of your Firefox users reported a similiar problem ???
    Thanks

Is the problem with the TurboTax desktop software, or TurboTax Online?
I believe the desktop product uses IE under the covers, so Firefox should not be a factor.
For the online product, if they don't fully support Firefox, I suppose you might need to use IE for the site. However, it might be a settings or add-ons issue.
(There was a report last month about a security issue that could prevent access to the online product, but it doesn't sound as though you're having that issue: [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1045253 Please tell me how to fix this problem so this error msg stops & I can sign into the website it occurs on.])
What have you tried so far?

  • Is there any way to get Firefox to show Thumbnails?

I've been using Firefox for a while now, but it's never really bothered me until now.
Every time I open a website with thumbnails they come up as links instead of what they should be and if I click those links it just takes me to a small picture(what should be the thumbnail, I guess) which I can't do anything with.
I've tried with and without AddOns(NoScript/AdblockPlus), and I've made sure [Load Images Automatically] is ticked, but nothing seems to work. Any help is appreciated greatly, thanks. :)

Thanks for the reply, cor-el, I checked to see if I could see any of the images in Media but there wasn't any, though there was some of the background, avatars and emoticons.
I also checked through the link you gave me:
I tried clearing Cache and Cookies, Force-reloading, without AddOns, all of the things in 'About:config' it said(all were normal/default), checked the exceptions in 'Tools>Options>Content', the links weren't Backslashes.
I checked my Firewall(Not that great with computers, but I'm on XP and using AVG), and I didn't seem to find anything to do with Image blocking, and it should displays a notification when Firewall blocks a program(if that would show for images, I don't know).
So, even with all that I can't seem to find the problem. Anything else? I really love Mozilla and it's annoying to have to go into IE just to see some images load. :(

  • Is there any way to make Firefox 4 display the web sites originally pinned in each tab upon restart of Firefox instead of the last web site viewed before ending Firefox?

After pinning a particular web site in each tab that I want to use in Firefox 4, the tabs work as expected for the initial session. However, after ending and later restarting Firefox 4, each tab starts with whatever page was displayed upon the previous close of Firefox. Upon restarting, I would like for Firefox to display the original pinned web page. Any suggestions?

You can set the prefs dom.ipc.plugins.enabled.* to false on the about:config page to disable the plugin-container process.

    dom.ipc.plugins.enabled.npqtplugin.dll (QuickTime)

  • Is there any way to save a browsing session i.e. save a window of tabs?

If i am browsing a subject and have several related tabs open is there a way to save these tabs in a group so i can open them all together again? I dont necessarily want to open all these tabs on start up but maybe in the future sometime when i am browsing this topic again.

OK thanks but that just bookmarks the pages - i want to be able to open them all up again at some time in the future when i am working on a certain subject.
And i dont want them to open up every time i start firfox.
Found this comment on review of tab saver add on page :
''For people that do a lot of inter-related research with many tabs on many firefox windows open is to be able to save a whole windows worth of tab addresses to a document to be opened later. This is needed because at some point your resources become over taxed and at best slow operation, at worst a chrash. this would allow for one page to be saved and re-opend at a time rather than closing down and saving them all, and opening with the same resource headache.
you could save windows for a specific search theme seperate from other windows-search themes until resource problem is removed below resource problem threshold. ''
So i guess for now its not possible but it seems like such an obvious feature to include......
