Is there much difference btwn dual 1.8ghz and dual 2.0ghz

Hi,
I have seen a dual 1.8ghz (M9454LL/A) second hand with this spec:
Machine Type: Power Mac G5
Machine Model: PowerMac 7,3
CPU Type: PowerPC G5 (2.2)
Number of CPUs: 2
CPU Speed 1.8GHz
L2 cache (per CPU): 512KB
Memory: 1.25 GB
Bus speed: 900MHz
Graphics Card: GeForce FX 5200
ATA Bus (DVD): Pioneer DVD-RW DVR-117D
Serial-ATA (hard-drive): Maxtor 80GB
for a good price around £800 which would leave me with money to buy a monitor.
This model already has airport built in and additional ram added.
I am a music producer (running digidesign protools LE) and need a studio computer to see me through the next couple of years. I have been looking at getting a dual 2.0ghz machine but these are invariably more expensive and I would have to pay to add the features this model already has, as well as purchasing a flatscreen.
Basically I want to know how much of a performance difference i will see between a dual 1.8ghz machine and a dual 2.0ghz machine.
cheers guys

Ok that dual 1.8 is not much difference from a dual 2
Your dual 1.8 has a 900 Mhz front-side bus per processor
The dual 2 has 400 more Mhz total in CPU speed (not much really) and a 1000 Mhz frontside bus per processor.
So the difference is minimal.
You could upgrade that video card to a AGP ATI X800 and 3D game all the latest ones with no problem. (I would before they are all gone)
If you get yourself another internal hard drive, something large like a 250-300GB SATA and keep your user files in there instead of on the 80GB Maxtor, your performance "feel" would be pretty good as well. (no Western Digital, they upgraded their SATA specs)
And you got a Superdrive, so you can burn dvds.
If time doesn't equal money, and your not constantly pushing your CPU's day and night, this machine is a good buy IMO. You should get a good 3-4 years out of it, especially if you know when to stop upgrading the OS/apps.
Yes I say you got yourself a good buy there.

  • Is There Much Difference?!

Is there much difference between the N81 8GB and the N95 8GB?? Any Pros or Cons?!
    AubHill

    So sum it up:
Designwise: N95s have dual slides, N81 has only one sided slide.
Look: N95s look more gorgeous, N95 8GB has strong build quality, N82 has it too but has cheap plastic feels.
Screen: both N95 and N95 8GB has reasonable size screen to enjoy more than N81s.
Music: N81 8GB has better music quality than N95 8GB.
Video: watching video is a pleasure on N95s.
GPS: N81 8GB lacks internal GPS module.
Battery: Both are more or less almost the same
RAM and Hardware: almost identical though N81 lacks 3D GFX accelerator.
If it was possible to edit a post forever I would do so time to time if I have missed something. If anyone finds more let us know.
    But overally N95 8GB wins.

  • I did re-set my password and when I click on Install for Mavericks, I still get a box for "administrator password" and it still won't accept my new password. Is there a difference between my Apple ID and the administrator password they're asking for?

I downloaded Mavericks and it won't install. I did re-set my password and when I click on Install for Mavericks, I still get a box for "administrator password" and it still won't accept my new password. Is there a difference between my Apple ID and the administrator password they're asking for? I never had an administrator password-- I just hit enter and have never had a problem before with previous installations. I'm on an iMac, from 2007, running Mt. Lion (version 10.8.5). I've been looking for other's posts who may be having the same problem, but haven't found any. Can anyone help?

Ugh. The 'no password, no work' thing is a recent Apple development. I ran into it on my system and ended up having to do a clean install on a partition I fully erased.
I suppose, if you have the ability to, go online and look up how to burn a bootable DVD image. Download the 10.8.4 image then use the Disk Utility to make a boot image of it. You'll need a dual-layer DVD or a USB drive (or memory stick at least 8GB) If you've got an optical drive, burn the disk, if you've a USB device, use that.
Then get a pocket drive and copy your important files off the system or let Time Machine do a full backup.
When the backup is done, insert the disk and hold down the C key until the machine boots off of the DVD. At the point you get to the start window, go to the menu and choose the Disk Utility.
In the Disk Utility, reformat the drive. You go to the actual DRIVE (not the Macintosh HD, but the root above it that is the actual hard drive device)
I always do this and *partition* it into several volumes, the benefit being, you can store all of your music, documents and importans stuff on that secondary storage volume you make - it will have it's own index and then the first volume is where you put the OS and it will have it's own index as well. That way, if the OS throws a wobbler and you need to reinstall, you don't lose your data.
Depending on the size of your hard drive, it is good to give your OS partition at least 60GB and optimally 100GB, and the rest for storage.
Name your volumes, use the little box sliders to manually size them or put that number in the size window, select for the format, Mac OS Extended (Journaled) and hit Apply and then the Disk Utility will quickly create your new partitions.
Once finished, quit the Utility and it will return you to the OS installer. Select the volume you want to install to and it should start up and install.
Once the installation is done, you'll get the new machine startup then you MUST put in a password for the computer. Once you're in, and to the desktop, don't bother with any Mountain Lion updates, go right to the App Store and get the Mavericks update and let it install the app to your Applicaitons folder, then do that install.
On a side note, there MAY be a way to make a disk image from the Mavericks application and avoid the entire Mountain Lion step.. I honestly do not know, but a bit of hitting the search engines may find out if there is. I think that if you looked for "make Mavericks boot disk or boot image' you may find something.
    Good luck!

Is there a difference between the earphone output and the audiooutput of the docking connector of the iphone 4, or is it in fact the same signal ?

One basic difference is that the LTE frequencies each is able to operate on are different. After that, it is pretty much the same phone. Others might be able to add to this.

  • Is there any difference in SAP 4.7 and ECC 5.0

    Dear,
Is there any difference in SAP 4.7 and ECC 5.0...
    Thanx & Regards,
    Mohammad Nabi

    Hi,
    Check this out
Hi I'm providing the ECC 6.0 functionality if you knows the
4.7EE the difference is as follows:
    ECC 6.0 New GL Functionality
1.Activate the New General Ledger Accounting by a single
    click on the clock icon
2.You will reach to change view "activation of New GL A/cg"
detail screen and tick the checkbox and save.
    3. After activation of New General Ledger Accounting, you
exit the IMG screen when you re-enter, you find that a new
node is added Financial Accounting (New)
4.After activation of New General Ledger Accounting; a new
sub node appears in the IMG structure.
This sub node is Define Segment
    The menu path is:
SAP Customizing IMG ---> Enterprise Structure -
    >
Definition --> Financial Accounting --> Define Segment
In this IMG activity, you define your segments.
If you then define your profit centers, you can enter an
associated segment in the master record of a profit center.
The segment is then derived from the assigned profit center
    during posting.
    5. Activation has created a new field in Profit Center
    Master Record: the SEGMENT
    6.Leading and Non- Leading Ledgers
In General Ledger Accounting, you can use several Ledgers
in parallel. This allows you to produce financial
statements according to different accounting principles. A
ledger uses several dimensions from the totals table it is
based upon. When defining Ledgers, one must be defined as
the Leading Ledger. The Leading Ledger is based on the same
accounting principles as that of the consolidated financial
statements. It is integrated with all subsidiary ledgers
and is updated in all company codes. This means that it is
automatically assigned to all company codes. In each
company code, the Leading Ledger receives exactly the same
settings that apply to that company code : the currencies,
the fiscal year variant and posting period variant .
You must designate one of your ledgers as the Leading
Ledger. It is not possible to designate more than one
    ledger as the leading ledger.
    The menu path is:
    SAP Customizing IMG -
    > Financial Accounting (New) -
    >
Financial Accounting Basic Settings (New) -
    > Ledgers ---
    -> Ledger -
    > Define Ledgers for General Ledger
    Accounting
Clicking on the checkbox identifies one of your ledgers as
    the Leading Ledger.
    7. Activation of Non Leading Ledgers
Non Leading Ledgers are parallel ledgers to the Leading
Ledger . They can be based on local accounting principle,
for example. You have to activate a non- Leading Ledger for
individual company codes. Non- Leading Ledgers can have
different fiscal year variants and posting period variants
per company code to the Leading Ledger of this company
    code.
    The menu path is :
    SAP Customizing IMG -
    > Financial Accounting ( New ) -
    > Financial Accounting Basic Settings (New) -
    > Ledgers -
    ---> Ledger -
    > Define and Activate Non --Leading
    Ledgers
    8.Assign scenarios to ledgers
A Scenario combines Customizing settings from different
business views. Each business view specifies which posting
data is transferred from different application components
in General Ledger Accounting, such as cost Center update or
Profit Center update .You assign the desired scenarios to
your ledgers. For each ledger, you define which fields are
filled with posting data from other application components.
SAP delivers a number of scenarios in the standard system.
It is not possible to create additional scenarios.
    The menu path is:
    SAP Customizing IMG -
    > Financial Accounting (New) -
    > Financial Accounting Basic Settings (New) -
    > Ledgers -
    --->Fields -
    > Display Scenarios for General Ledger
    Accounting.
    9. Cost of sales accounting
Cost of sales accounting is a way to create a profit and
loss statement (P&L) for a company by comparing the
revenues to the costs or expenses incurred to obtain these
    revenues.
The expenses are mainly divided by functional area such as:
    Manufacturing
    Administration
    Sales
    Research and Development
We can activate Cost of Sales Accounting by the following
    menu path :
    SAP Customizing IMG -
    > Financial Accounting ( New ) -
-> Financial Accounting Basic Settings (New) -
    >
Ledgers ->Ledger---> Activate Cost of Sales Accounting
    Offsetting Account Report ECC 5.0
Offsetting account report for vendors in ECC 5.0 is
possible after implementing the OSS Note 1034354
    Reward if helpful.
    Regards
    Ravi

  • Is there any difference in quality between mp4 and m4v?

Is there any difference in quality between mp4 and m4v? I am figuring out how best to save old VCR files. Is the 264 category the best?

So, what would that software be? Anything that I mentioned, e.g., iMovie? Any Video Converter?
I'm a Mac user so I want files that play "natively" in QT X, QT 7, QL, iPod Touch, iPhone, iPad, and/or TV players. This means I want the H.264/AAC compressed data in MOV, MP4, or M4V file containers. I can use QT 7 Pro, MPEG Streamclip, and /or QT X to move MPEG-4/AAC compressed data to MOV file containers, MPEG Streamclip to movie M4V and MOV MPEG-4/AAC data to MP4 file containers, and Subler to move MP4 or MOV MPEG-4 AVC/AAC/AC3/Chapter data to M4V file containers. This is strictly a simple "copy" operation and no recompression of data is involved. (I.e., the quality is not changed.)
iMovie is a video editor and it forces an export conversion of your project once completed which can degrade quality. Have never used the Any Video Converter so I don't know if it has an audio and/or video "passthrough" feature for data already in a compatible compression formats. If it doesn't then any conversion it makes has the potential to degrade video content.
As to AVI, this is a legacy file container abandoned by Microsoft a dozen years ago in favor of their modernized WMV compression format/file type products. Compared to MKV, AVI is an outmoded/out-of-date container which I don't recommend you use unless you are a glutton for punishment. However, if you must use it, then you might try the AvidMux app. It can "copy" compatible content to a number of file container types—including AVI and MKV. Just don't blame me if its use creates more problems than it solves on current Mac systems.

  • Is there any difference between the commerical product and the Teacher/Student version?

In Adobe Photo Shop Elements 13 and Premiere Elements 13 is there any difference between the commerical product and the Teacher/Student version? I don't remember them having two versions in the past.

Is there a difference? Sure. Will it be noticable? Maybe.
The 9i client will use one of the 9i ODBC drivers. The 8i client will use one of the 8i ODBC drivers. The 9i drivers will generally have more bug fixes & more features than the 8i drivers. It is possible, though rare, that the 9i drivers will fix a bug whose behavior your application was dependent on and/or introduce bugs that were not in the earlier version. Of course, you have to consider the different features of the underlying clients as well-- i.e. a 9.2 Oracle client cannot communicate with a 7.3.4 database, an 8i client doesn't know how to handle data types introduced in 9i (i.e. TIMESTAMP), etc.

  • Noticeable difference between dual 1.8 and dual 2.4?

    Hey all,
I'm just about to pull the plug on buying a used G5 on Craigslist: dual 1.8ghz, 3gb DDR SDRAM, Leopard, 20" display, $800. My only reason for hesitation is that this is going to be my primary computer, and is replacing my beat up four year old Powerbook that's no longer 100% reliable. I'm using it primarily for graphic design (Photoshop), photography (Lightroom), and music recording (ProTools).
My question, now, is: would it be worthwhile to hold out and get one with dual 2.4ghz processors and spend $100 or $200 more? Is there that big of a difference? (Keep in mind I'm a broke and graduating from college in two days!).
    Thanks!
    Alec

Ask for the condition of the machine and I would certainly ask for pictures.
I bought once a " mint " Cube system only to receive it with chocolate stuck in the keyboard, deep scratches on the cube shell and only a 15" LCD instead of 17" (Quite a difference in cost at the time) I say that not to give you cold feet, but as something to be aware of. Don't know if you have bought used systems before and how picky you are on. I am quite picky on my stuff and treat it with a lot of care. So, mint condition should be mint and shows the user to care of the machine. Tiny scratch here or there and/or a nick happens. Owner shouldn't have a problem disclosing it. I just saw a small scratch on my G5 door the other day when I cleaned it ... Anyway, I have seen and worked some laptops I wouldn't want to own or be seen with, even if they were given to me free! Same with some cellphones I've seen ... it's like they've been dragged behind a car.
Enquire how intensely the machine was used. Pro video editing as a business is quite a bit more stressful than home computer in the evening and weekend and may affect the total lifespan in years.
One thing that you can do is ask for screen grabs of the System Profile ( Command + Shift + 4, select area) or have them save the entire profile and email it to you.
Utilities > System Profiler > File > Save as ...
You could request an xbench score http://www.xbench.com/ using the xbench application
and then do a quick comparison here http://db.xbench.com/
Quite some factors can be playing in the score though, like the hard drive, graphics card, version of the OS, etc. But could be an additional reference.

My primary system runs Windows 7 Pro 64 bit system. My other system runs a 32 bit system.  I would like to buy Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro Extended. Is there any difference with running it on either systems? Or will one version work on both the 64 bit and 32 bit systems.

  • Is there a difference between the macbook air and the macbook pro?

i know the specs but are there some differences where you can tell me about??

The differences are pretty obvious if you've read the technical specifications comparison. Which MacBook Pro are you comparing the MacBook Air against? There are additional differences if you're comparing between 13, 15 or 17" models.
    The most obvious differences:
    Optical Drive
    Ethernet port
    FireWire port
    i5/i7 CPU architecture
    Dedicated GPU (15 & 17 MBP)
    RAM and HDD upgradeability
    Backlit keyboard

  • Difference btwn xfa.event.change and xfa.event.newText pls?

    Hello
I tried to figure out the difference between xfa.event.change and xfa.event.newText in google, but did not see any such!
Pls. could you clariy my question that what is the differenvce between these 2 (xfa.event.change and xfa.event.newText)?
    Thank you

Thank you. With out having much knowledge on JS, i wrote the below JS
    myFomr.Page2.mySubform21.myCheckBox211::exit - (JavaScript, client)
// To  check this check box, bank acct # is must to enter by user
    if (this.rawValue == "X"){
    if ((xfa.resolveNode("myFomr.Page2.mySubform21.BankNumber").rawValue == null) || (xfa.resolveNode("myFomr.Page2.mySubform21.BankNumber").rawValue == "")) {
        xfa.event.change = "";
My impression was, i can change a value (in the above case am unchecking the check box by populating it with ""/space) of any (text, check box, drop-down) field on the form explicitly by using this script
    (xfa.event.change = "";),
i already placed in around 20 locations, so, pls. suggest me do i need to correct all these 20 locations, kind of risk/tediuos at this point or is it ok that leave as is?
    Thank you
