Is there something faster to use then rwrun for batch processing?

I am using rwrun to process several reports (200+) in a batch file by using something like this:
start rwrun Report.rdf destype=file desformat=pdf desname="School1.pdf" p_school="1" userid=user/password
start rwrun Report.rdf destype=file desformat=pdf desname="School2.pdf" p_school="2" userid=user/password
start rwrun Report.rdf destype=file desformat=pdf desname="School3.pdf" p_school="3" userid=user/password
but it is taking a long time to run. My guess is that by using this method to process the reports it as to connect to the database each time, so that may account for some of the slowness.
Anyone know of a better/faster way to do what I am doing above?

It is more efficient to use a reports server :
Example:
rwserver server=repserver batch=yes
rwclient server=repserver Report.rdf destype=file desformat=pdf desname="School1.pdf" p_school="1" userid=user/password
rwclient server=repserver Report.rdf destype=file desformat=pdf desname="School2.pdf" p_school="2" userid=user/password
rwclient server=repserver Report.rdf destype=file desformat=pdf desname="School3.pdf" p_school="3" userid=user/password
It is just necessary to add a small pause between the call to rwserver and the first call to rwclient in order to let the reports server starts and be ready .

I have a given spool and want to search for specific error lines in it to use the information for futher processing. I already serached for answers, but maybe with the wrong keywords. Therefore i have some questions:
What is the basic principle spools are stored in the SAP-System? I already found the tables tsp01, tsp02... but i dont understand the basic concept. For example i dont know where the spool content itself is provided.
What is the best way to get spool data in my ABAP program? I testet RSPO_RETURN_ABAP_SPOOLJOB with a positive result, but i am not sure if this is a good way for large spools. And maybe there are better ways i would be pleased to hear.
Is it common to use spools in the way i plan it, or must i rethink my approach. Catch my lines in the spool generation process for example, but this would be pretty hard in my concrete case...

Spools and information on those are stored in database and sometimes in file system (AL11)
Header entry in table TST01 (TemSe objects)
Object associated with the header entry; it can be stored in the file system or in the database table TST03 (TemSe data of the object)
Entry in table TSP01 (spool requests)
Entry in table TSP02, if output requests exist

This FM will perform well for ABAP list, and you may get problem with spools generated by tools like Smartforms or Sap Script

For error log processing, look at tools related to a transaction as SLG1, and documents like Create application log. Use of spool report if manual processing expected.

Is there an RI that uses div s for layout instead of table s?

I am using Struts Tiles, DWR, script.acu.lous drag and drop and JSF.
So, my problem is that since I have incorporated <f:verbatim>, the page is being rendered incorrectly and I don't know how to recombine it back to look like it should. The layout I am doing has a header at top, left hand column for navigation and content well in the middle. Essentially, this boils down to, in JSF, a table row with one table data element for the header and one table row with two table data elements for the nav and content. In the content well, it utlizes a JSF subview with JSF components and then below this a JSF subview with a JSF <f:verbatim>. On the pages that I don't use <f:verbatim>, the layout renders correctly. The rendering problem is that when the markup is rendered, the <f:verbatim> tag is rendered outside the <f:view> with the other JSF subview in the content rendered correctly in the layout. In other words, the whole page except the <f:verbatim> is rendered in a <table>. I understand, from an onjava article, the JSP and JSF rendering occurs in parallel and I am guessing this might be the problem. The page is rendering now with the header in the right place, the nav not behaving like it used to but in the correct place, the portion of the content that is a bunch of JSF components is located to the right of the nav. The <f:verbatim> that should be rendered directly below the JSF components on the content page and to the right of the nav is rendered under both the nav and JSF components outside the <table>.
Is there a RI that uses divs to do layout instead of tables?
OR
How can I get the <f:verbatim> back into the flow of the page so everything is lined up correctly?
Please feel free to yell at me if this is addressed in another thread. I will search for it if this is the case. I haven't had the time to do a thorough search.

sidenote: Using tables for layout is not considered good web design. There are plenty of sites that illustrate use of CSS for layout. I find this a little strange since Sun is always promoting best practices and then it doesn't embrace other industry best practices. This seems more like a MS bullying tactic, but maybe Sun and MS are one in the same.

Cool. That is a great move. The only concern I have now is that there aren't any containers out that support JSP 2.1 and Servlet 2.5 to enable JSF 1.2 except for glassfish. I am using tomcat and not a heavy weight application server. I couldn't find a roadmap on Apache either for Tomcat to know when they will be coming out with Tomcat 6 I imagine. Is there an article or tutorials out yet that demonstrate how to markup a page with the new specification? That yould help. The more I think about using custom components, the more I lean towards using the standard.
Thanks for the heads up. Now I have to think about setting up glassfish and migrating from tomcat unless there is other news I am unaware of =P.

enter TCODE PA70-> select Recurring Payments/Deductions -> click
create -> copy the data from excel sheet and past
The whole row of data is copied into one field . the data is not copied
into the corresponding fields.

I don't think this is possible. Please see note 314568 about the limitations of the SAPgui for HTML (webgui), the "Clipboard access" section seems to describe this limitation.

How to use the same (selection) paths in multiple images for batch processing?

I have a whole bunch of photos I need to batch process, but, when creating an action for this, I stumbled upon the problem that the paths I selected with the pen tool, and saved under the "Paths" tab need to be in every image for to be used in the action. I did try to solve it for some time, but couldn't figure out. Any ideas?

Batch processing usually involves using actions you have recorded. In Action you can insert Path that can be used during processing documents. Path have some size so you may want to only process document that have the same size. Look in the Actions Palette fly-out menu for insert path. It inserts|records the current document work path into the action being worked on and when the action is played it inserts the path into the document as the current work path..

Is there anyway to just use one button for push to talk?

I use ventrilo all the time but have been wanting to switch to skype. I can't stand using constant open mic so i wanted to use push to talk. On skype its always alt/control/shift plus something else is there anyway to make it only 1 key?

In Firefox 4 by default the Stop, Go and Reload buttons are combined and attached to the right hand edge of the location bar.
When you are typing in the location bar it will show the Go button. When a site is loading it shows the Stop button. At other times it shows the Reload button.
If you want separate buttons, right-click on a toolbar and choose Customize, you can then drag and drop the stop or reload buttons and place them elsewhere. If you place them in the order "Reload-Stop" on the right hand edge of the location bar they will be combined again. As far as I heard there are some risks when using
useMessageListener="true"
(instead of "false"). Is this true?
Or does the Partnerlink to JMS adapter became unstable?
When exactly is it recommended to use "true" instead of "false"?

What version are you using : 10.1.2 or 10.1.3 ? By default in 10.1.3 the JMS wizard sets the useMessageListener to False . I would recommned to keep it to this value unless there is a strong reason to change otherwise.

Hi, pasteurization. If the FireWire port on your Powerbook no longer works, you can buy a relatively inexpensive CardBus adapter that will provide a FireWire port or ports and spare you the high cost of replacing your logic board. Here is one example — there are many others on the market:

What typfaces are there that I can use varied weights for East Asian Characters?

I am at a dead end trying to find a typeface which is not a script, which offers me more than one stroke weight for Traditional Chinese and South Korean characters. I need a typeface which will compliment Helvetica.

I can't help you with Korean. As for Chinese, the system fonts for Windows and the Chinese fonts bundled with some Adobe products come in a single weight, as you already know. However, some of the Japanese fonts bundled with InDesign come in multiple weights: various weights of Kozuka Pro _might_ work for traditional Chinese, though some forms occur only in Japanese.
Character set is a big deal, and Chinese fonts vary significantly in the number of characters they contain. Typically, you get more characters in standard weights (i.e., "regular" or "light"). Note, too, that authors frequently use Windows system fonts for Chinese (MingLiU or PMingLiU). These happen to have very large character sets, meaning they contain many variant forms that are not available in most fonts; inevitably, authors use some of these variants and they show up missing in the weight you need.
Dynafont and Arphic packages are pretty well regarded, and included a variety of weights in some styles -- but watch out for character-set issues. I can't recommend a source since the one I used disappeared.

How exactly does Flip4Mac work with FCE? Can I export directly from FCE or Compressor with it? And if it's exported to a .WMV file, will that file have the same high-quality HD image quality that the .264 codec gives in QuickTime? Or will it be automatically down-rezed by exporting to .wmv?

How can I avoid using rollback segment for batch updates.

I am currently trying to avoid associating a large amount of space for rollback segment as this gets filled up only during the nightly batch updates. All that space will never be used during the day. Hence want to know if there is any way of avoiding the use of rollback segment at the session level.

No, but what you can do is create a large rollback segment to use with your batch job, at the start of your batch job bring the segment online, then use set transaction to use that rollback segment, when the batch job is finished and committed, you can then bring the rollback segment offline.
If you are really pressed for space, as an alternate plan, you could actually create the large segment before the batch job and drop it after.

Using of P_ABAP for Batch User IDs

Hi Experts,
I'm am contemplating to assign P_ABAP to bypass all authorization checks for reports for our system batch ids that will be used for executing background jobs. My consideration is that if P_ABAP is utilized, unnecessary authorization checks during execution of the background jobs by these batch ids will be skipped and will improve our performance of the background jobs.
I want to seek advise if this is a recommended practice and if any experts have implemented similar set-up. I would also like to know if there is any risk that could result from such an implementation.

In my opinion, there's some risk with doing this. A person with 'S_BTCH_NAM' authorization could easily run these reports in background job submitted as one of these batch ids which could really cause issues.
