Is there way to limit / throttle resources (time/data size) for a Query?

Hello Gurus,
Is there way in SAP BI to limit the resources consumed by a query for a group of users.
Specifically, I want to be able to say that queries generated by users
Will be stopped if they exceed more than 5 minutes of run time
Will be stopped if they return more than 500,000 recoreds

you can restrict the dialog runtime with the parameter
rdisp/max_wprun_time
This will affect all dialog processes and is not user specific, so setting it to 5 minutes is probably not feasible.
The result set of a query can be restricted with the safety belt (see note 1127156), but again the setting is not user specific.
Another possibility is to restrict the memory per session (parameter ztta/roll_extension etc.), but again this is a global parameter.
As far as I know there is no way to have a resource limit for some users but not for others. Your best possibilty is to restrict the access to the 'dangerous' queries.
ztta/roll_extension and rdisp/max_wprun_time can be different on different servers, so it might be possible to set them to small values on one server and force the users on this server. This could be difficult if webreporting is used and it is also important that no other processes are running on this server as they might fail due to the restrictive settings.

a)The decision to go for SAP remote cube depends on the volume of data and the frequency of queries. It is advicible not to use the SAP remote cube if the data volume is high and also, the query frequency is high. Which module in HR are yuo implementing? In HR, the data volume is generally high. So, if you go for loading the data from R/3 every 3 hours, you are asfe as long as the loading volumes are less. For example, for implementing Time management, I would not advice frequent loads as it is time consuming process. So, make a decision based on the above mentioned lines. If the data volume is not high, I would prefer the SAP ermote cube as it will reduce managing the loads.
b)I mentioned FM extractor just for the sake of control of data selection. You can even go for view/table extractor.

i have the same problem. i bought a new external hard drive and i am trying to move my entire library onto it. i copied all of my itunes library onto it but when i tried to delete a song off of my initial C: drive to test it, i had to go in an individually change where the songs location was. i already tried changing where the itunes music folder was located however the library still says its located on the C: drive.

If it wasnt activated prior icloud wont help now. Did you ever use the save and print option to "send it itunes"? I did that all the time prior to icloud to back up my docs. Then you can "copy from itunes" in the new document dialog.
I still recommend doing the export to iTunes to create a local back up copy on ocassion.
For future reference, To activate icloud for documents, go into the main settings app, tap icloud, then documents and data, and turn it on. Then go to the app (maybe numbers) further down the main settings list, tap it and turn on "use icloud".

Is there a software that works like Time Machine but for a PC

Hi I am a IT admin for a company in Atlanta, Ga. I use apple at the home and love it. I have several users at my company that can't seem to understand simple file structures. So they are constently deleting, moving and overwriting files on there system. A software like Time Machine would really help me out to recover thier mistakes. The only problem is that they work on windows XP systems. Is there a PC software out there that works like Time Machine?

After evaluating a number of backup software options for my corporate Dell d620 laptop (yes, unbelievably, my company doesn't offer an automatic backup of their users' machines!), I chose Second Copy for the following reasons:
1. Different backup profile options (e.g., I have one that automatically backs up to the local LAN on a schedule and at shut-down when I'm in my office, a profile for manual backup to an external HD, and another profile for manual backup to my 4 GB USB flash drive). You can even backup remotely and trigger an email to a specified recipient when a backup is complete.
2. The backup file structure is not proprietary or in a format differing from the original, thereby not requiring the original software to open the files and restore.
3. Only backs up changed data, making it very quick each time.
4. Simple to set up and use.
5. $29
When working from my home office, I will often run a backup on my flash drive or external HD, transfer it to my Mac, and work from the 24" glossy-screened glory in favor of my tiny washed out Windows laptop display.
I realize this doesn't quite approach the no-brainer flexibility of Time Machine, but with a bit of thought, you could get your users automatically backing up to various locations on varying schedules and accomplish the same thing (i.e., automatically back up every day to their primary local LAN, back up every week to a secondary off-site location, etc.). Effectively, you could have daily and weekly backups to restore from, somewhat similar to Time Machine.

Has the home screen time/date size changed with a recent update?

my time/date suddenly looks huge to me. Kind of jarring I think.
I'm not sure if it's changed somehow, or if I've just never noticed before.
Does this look like the standard size? Is there any way it may have changed??

Everything seems large to me. Try an iPhone reset:
Press the sleep/wake button & home button at the same time, keep pressing until you see the Apple logo, then release.
Before you do that, look here: Settings>General>Accessibility...is zoom on?

Error "cannot load request real time data targets" for new cube in BI 7.

Hi All,
WE have recently upgarded our SCM system from 4.1 to SCM 7.0 which incorporated BI 7.0.
I am using BI 7.0 for first time and ahve the following issue:
I ceated a new infocube and data source of flat file and succesfully created transformation, and Data Transfer Process. Everything looked fine. I added flat file and checked preview and could see data. Now when I start job to load data in infocube the follwing error is shown "cannot load request real time data targets".
I checked cube type in setting in infcune is shows as Standard. When I doube clicked on error the following message showed up
You are trying to load data into a real-time InfoCube using a DTP.
This is only possible if the correct load settings have been defined for the InfoCube.
Procedure
In the object tree of the Data Warehousing Workbench, call Load Behavior of Real-Time InfoCube from the context menu of the InfoCube. Switch load behavior to Transactional InfoCube can be loaded; planning not allowed.
I did not understand what it is meant and how to set changes. Can someone advice and follow me through.

Real-time InfoCubes can be filled with data using two different methods: using the transaction for entering planning data, and using BI staging, whereby planning data cannot be loaded simultaneously. With Real time cube you can select the method you want to use for update as
Real Time data Target can be loaded With Data; Planning not allowed &
Real Time data Target can be Planned; Data loading not allowed
You can change this behaviour by right clicking on cube and selecting Change real time load behaviour and select first option. You will be able to load the data then

Dear Apple Discussions,
I wish to know if iMovie HD retrieves the original recording time and date of a clip as a part of the time/date code, as do other video editors.
When click on a clip and select properties, the capture time and date is displayed.
Matti Haveri posted a response, but hers related to the capture date.
I wish to know the actual time and date that a clip was recorded by my DV camcorder. Can anyone out the assist me?

iMovie does keep the original recording time and date of a clip as a part of the time/date code.
When click on a clip and select properties, the capture time and date is displayed.
Really? With my setup I see the original recording date & time.
But wait, what kind of footage do you have? Originally analog footage converted to DV? THEN the digitizing device usually labels the DV with the digitizing date.

Limit of pages or file size for iBooks Author?

iBooks Author v.1.1(190)
I use iBooks Author for work, is there a maximum amount of pages iBooks can handle or limit to file size? I will have around 80+ pages including videos,links, and interactive widgets. My current page count is 52 and file size is 60MB, plus iBooks Author frequently quits when I save and preview on iPad 1.

See Optimizing performance in your iBooks Author books [ support.apple.com/kb/HT5117 ] and know that max book size is 2GB.
60 mb shouldn't be an issue...

1) Try to make Some of the Fields such as BUKRS , GJAHR as PARAMETERS so that ROWS are restrited mostly.
2) Make fields like BLDAT and BUDAT as OBLIGATORY if possible.
3) And in the SELECT query add the PACKAGE SIZE addition.

Real-time data extraction for FI-GL

Hi All,
I have a business requirement to have FI-GL transactions updated in 5 minutes or less in our BI system.
As per OSS Note 991429 (Minute based extraction enhancement for 0FI * 4 extractors) it seems in theory possible. However, the settings in this note inidcate that the extraction can only happen every 3600 seconds (1h) or more to avoid losing any delta records.
Has anybody been able to use either datasource 0FI_GL_4 or any other standard datasource to set-up a real-time extraction (the key point being a real-time update of 5 minutes or less, not an hour)?

I would like to inform you, that SAP does not recommend to reduce the
safety interval from 1 hour to 15 minutes.
This setting can cause missing records in the BW system.
However it is on your OWN risk, and it is NOT supported by SAP, if it
will cause missing datas in BW.
You can change the safety interval in table BWOM_SETTINGS.
Please take a detailed look at the note 991429.

IPad Mini-- any way to limit time spent on particular aps, but have unlimited time on educational aps for kids?

My twin 8 year olds just got the iPad Minis for Christmas. Is there a way to limit how much time they spend on a particular game/ap, but have unlimited time on the educational aps? Everything I've read thus far states that I can't.

Under the Settings < General < Accessiblity < Guided Access, allows you to lock down an app so they cannot get out of it. With this you can lock down the educational apps for as long as you like. You need to set a password.

Is there a character limit for iTunes U course postings when viewing in iOS app?

I have created a course in iTunes U using the web interface, but when I view the course on my iPad it doesn't show the entire post. Is there a character limit in the app or something for what will display?
To make things even stranger, I went back to the course editor in my browser and saved it again (effectively re-posting it) and when I restarted the iTunes U app in iOS the post was cut even shorter! I'm using an iPad 3rd gen with iOS 6.0.1.

No, there is no workaround. You would need to find a downloadable copy of old apps.

Determining how much time is left for HttpSession expiration

Is there any way to determine how much time is left for my session to expire ? What i want to do is, if there is no activity on some page for a long time, then according to the remaining session expiration time, i want to popup a message to the user that 'so much' time is left for his session to expire. If the user wish we can reset the session expired time to its initial value and the session continues.

Well, see, how are you going to do this even if there was a method (which there is sorta... you need to use getMaxInactiveInterval() and getLastAccessedTime() from session to figure it out yourself). What I mean is, how are you going to tell the user. The JSP can't call the browser to tell it anything, and when the user goes to another page, the timer is reset, so it'll never be below that limit after that request.
Actually, I can think of only one way, and that is to have a JavaScript code on the page and use setTimeout function to show an alert after the needed time expires.

Detect if time/date browse button was used

I have a position control vi for indexing elements inside array and displaying corresponding time and date. I have large number of control signals inside my block, but I have removed all irrelevant blocks and signal for this discussion. I have replaced all unnecessary controls with constant values, so don't waste time analyzing it.
If you take a look at my vi, you will see Star/Stop control, Position control and a time stamp indicator (Waveform time) with a time/date browse button from another time stamp control. I have all desired functionalities, but I have problem when using browse button for setting up time. I can't set my time two times in a row at same value because I'm comparing "Last entered time stamp" value with current one just entered. I would not like to completely change my blocks because I'm using a lot of property nodes and variables inside my project. I'm just looking for a way to figure out if time/date browse button has been pressed so I could jump to desired point in my recorded waveform.

I can't change Waveform Time Indicator to a Control because that would make other controls much complex (not shown in attached vi)
I have modified my block to the simplest form. I have changed some control names.
There is now only one problem - how can I detect if user has pressed time/date browse button? I'm not interested at this point which value has been entered.
I need to replace User has entered value in Jump to time/date with some kind of Boolean logic or event case.
