Is this true ? Ipod can not play hi res music !!!!!

I just read this on the Wadia Forum. Is this accurate?
"The iPod .....cannot play back anything higher than 16/48k. iTunes will stop anything above that from loading into the iPod."

I have discovered that I am able to import 24/96 .wav files into iTunes and convert them to Apple Lossless format at that same resolution. However, I cannot sync them to my ipod. But I can downconvert them to 24/48 .wav files, then convert to Apple Lossless and sync to my ipod fine.

  • My computer crashed. So does this mean I can not add any more music to my ipod from a different computer without all the songs being erased? Can I sync my ipod to a new computer if I allow all the songs to be erased?

My computer crashed. So does this mean I can not add any more music to my ipod from a different computer without all the songs being erased? The ipod works fine and now i got a new computer. So it seems like my only options are leaving my ipod in a state where i cant add anymore songs or erasing all my songs and trying to use my ipod from my new computer. Can someone please inform me on how to have my ipod work from a different computer, even if i have to erase my songs. Thanks.

Yes, if you choose the Erase and Sync option (or restore your iPod) you will be allowed to sync your iPod with the new computer.

  • "IPOD can not be used because it requires iTunes version 7.6 or later"

I keep getting this message: "IPOD can not be used because it requires iTunes version 7.6 or later". I have intstalled version 8.0 but it still will not show this new 3rd generation nano in the source list when I plug it in. We have to other ipods (original video version and 2nd generation nano) and they work fine. Please help if you can. My 10 year old daughter has this new gift that we can't figure out!!

I am having a similar issue. My kit is as follows:
Laptop with Windows XP Professional Service Pack 1
    iTunes 7.5
    3rd Generation 8Gb iPod Nano (v1.1.2 PC)
5th Generation 30Gb iPod with video (there are no issues with this)
A while back, on connecting the iPod Nano to my PC, i was prompted to upgrade the software. Clicked "yes" and the software installed. Now when I connect the iPod Nano to my laptop I get an error message in iTunes saying "iPod cannot be used because it requires iTunes version 7.6 or later". I am unable to download any later versions of iTunes, however, as they require Service Pack 2 for XP (and I cannot install this for a number of reasons).
Is there any way I can revert the Nano to its previous software level as I am currently unable to add/remove any music to it?

If you have made sure that both the iTunes and iPod software are current and have deauthorized and reauthorized your computer, try this test:
    1. Deauthorize the computer.
    2. Create a new user in the system.
    3. Download the free song of the week from the iTMS in the new user account.
    4. Play the song in that user account to authorize again.
    5. Restore the iPod (using the iPod updater) in the new user account.
    6. Sync just the free song of the week and see if it plays on the iPod.
If it does, you appear to have a corrupted iTunes library file, and you should recreate the iTunes library file in your normal user account, and then sync your music back to the iPod and all should be well.

Thank you now how do I get the songs on to the flash drive?
Insert the flash drive into the other computer, and open it so it looks like a window.  Highlight the songs you want in his iTunes, and drag them into that window.
That will cause them to copy onto the flash drive, and will not affect his library.
If you normally run iTunes in full-screen mode, make it smaller so that you can do the drag.
Then insert the flash drive into your computer.  Find your Automatically Add to iTunes folder (it is inside the iTunes media folder) and drag the songs into it.

  • HP desktop computer can not play Blu-ray DVDs. Who is responsible for this?

In 2010, I blought an HP Pavilion Elite HPE 250-f desktop computer (running Windows 7). This computer was advertised as having a Blu-ray DVD player, as well as players for regular DVDs and CDs. All these years, I've been successfully playing regular DVDs and CDs. Until now, I have not attempted to play a Blu-ray DVD.
I recently rented the "Divergent" Blu-ray DVD (as well as the "Divergent" regular DVD) from my local library. When I tried to play the Blu-ray DVD, the HP MediaSmart software and the Windows Media Player detected the Blu-ray but were not able to play the Blu-ray.
I then downloaded the Media Player Codec Pack, http://download.cnet.com/Media-Player-Codec-Pack/3000-13632_4-10749065.html    This Codec Pack was supposed to help Windows Media Player play the Blu-ray. That did not work. When I got rid of the Codec Pack using System Restore, HP MediaSmart and Windows Media Player became unable to detect the Blu-ray in the Blu-ray drive. After another System Restore, HP MediaSmart and Windows Media Player were once again able to detect the Blu-ray (but were still unable to play the Blu-ray).
I then downloaded Cyberlink PowerDVD 14, which played the Blu-ray for only about 7 seconds before crashing. I then got rid of Cyberlink PowerDVD 14 with a System Restore.
I downloaded TotalMedia Theatre version 6.0.1.123. However, this software did not detect the Blu-ray. I then got rid of TotalMedia Theatre with a System Restore. After that, I was not able to play ANYTHING, including CDs and regular DVDs. CDs and regular DVDs were not being detected by playing software. After another System Restore, I was once again able to play CDs and regular DVDs. However, I do not want to risk trying to play the Blu-ray again.
So, what's going on here? HP advertised this computer as having a Blu-ray DVD player. Wasn't HP responsible for providing software that could play Blu-ray DVDs? And why is the Blu-ray DVD, sometimes detected, and sometimes not detected, by playing software? Is there some kind of hardware issue?
Who is responsible for the fact that my computer can not play Blu-ray DVDs? HP, for bad playing software and/or bad hardware? Or is there something in the Windows 7 operating system that prevents the playing of Blu-ray DVDs? Is Microsoft responsible?
    Thanks for any information.

You're not going to get any help from HP or Microsoft on a 4 year old computer.   Maybe your optical drive is no longer able to play Bluray discs.  Windows 7 Media Center with Bluray playback was not included in all versions of Windows 7.  Each computer with Bluray has an individual license; yours may have expired after not using it for 4 years.  Best advice - don't flog a dead horse.  Just get regular DVDs.

  • How come iTunes keeps saying:"this iPod can not be used because the required software is not installed. Run the iTunes installer to remove iTunes, then install the 64 bit version of iTunes?"  Wth...i am using the 64version.

Hi. How come iTunes keeps saying:"this iPod can not be used because the required software is not installed. Run the iTunes installer to remove iTunes, then install the 64 bit version of iTunes?"  Wth...i am using the 64 bit version of itunes. Why does it keep saying that? Will someone Help me please!? This is is getting frustrating. I already had done a full removal of everything! I even removed and deleted my library...then had to put all 500 songs back on one by one. So, i don't have to remove everything again, just to get my ipod to work on here. You, know before the itunes update, my ipod and itunes were working just fine.

wow, that was a quick reply. lol. but i have removed everything. I wasn't even able to get iTunes on my computer for a little while. i kept getting errors on that. Now it's saying that the required software isn't installed. Hmm, could it be referring to Apple Mobile Device Support? That is supposed to be installed with when iTunes gets installed right? I only ask, because that  didn't get installed with the itunes setup.

  • I've had a fault with the hard drive on my laptop, it's been replaced and now my iphone and ipod can not sync unpurchased items with itunes. Is there anyway of sorting this without uploading all of my CD's again?

If your CDs are on your iPod/iPhone, they can be recovered from there, see this post:

Your problem shows the importance of making backups.

Ah, it has been mentioned daily esp since iOS 5 / iTunes 10.5 but has always been there as an issue.
    Order of attempts:
    Repair the installers
Uninstall EVERY Apple component (auto and manual)
Services: Restart all 3 Apple items (AMS, Bonjour, iPod)
I* always do the last almost, then launch iTunes, and only then connect iPod.
IF you see a yellow alert in Devices and Printers or in Device Manager, then I could find NO WAY to fix or repair other than a clean OS. Something messed up the device driver support.
If/when Windows asks "what to do when it detects iPod"? don't chose any default action, to me, based on hunch and 3 PCs, that seems to mess AMS up for some reason.
Tried with Windows 7 64-bit Pro and Home Premium, and also Deve Preview 8 (which other than the inability to update iOS to 5.0 seems to run better -- except when it comes to AMS thing! so seems Apple is not on the same page writitng drivers.
