Is webdynpro a standalone application

Hi SDN's,
Can we run a webdynpro allication as a standalone application?
If so how to use this application as a stand alone application
Thanks,

  • Change colours of BSP standalone application

    Hi all,
I want to run e-recruiting (bsp or webdynpro) as standalone application and need to change the colours of the GUI elements. The header picture should also be changed.
Where can I do the changes? Do I do it in the portal theme editor even if I don't use portal to display the web application??
    Thanks in advance
    Karsten

    Hi Karsten,
you do not need portal to create or change themes and to use it for your application.
There is a good documentation which explains it:

  • How to use JDBC Connection Pools in a standalone application?

    Hi, there,
I have a question about how to use JDBC Connection Pools in an application. I know well about connection pool itself, but I am not quite sure how to keep the pool management object alive all the time to avoid being destroyed by garbage collection.
for example, at the website: http://www.developer.com/java/other/article.php/626291, there is a simple connection pool implementation. there are three classes:JDBCConnection, the application's gateway to the database; JDBCConnectionImpl, the real class/object to provide connection; and JDBCPool, the management class to manage connection pool composed by JDBCConnectionImpl. JDBCPool is designed by Singleton pattern to make sure only one instance. supposing there is only one client to use connection for many times, I guess it's ok because this client first needs instantiate JDBCPool and JDBCConnectionImpl and then will hold the reference to JDBCPool all the time. but how about many clients want to use this JDBCPool? supposing client1 finishes using JDBCPool and quits, then JDBCPool will be destroyed by garbage collection since there is no reference to it, also all the connections of JDBCConnectionImpl in this pool will be destroyed too. that means the next client needs recreate pool and connections! so my question is that if there is a way to keep pool management instance alive all the time to provide connection to any client at any time. I guess maybe I can set the pool management class as daemon thread to solve this problem, but I am not quite sure. besides, there is some other problems about daemon thread, for example, how to make sure there is only one daemon instance? how to quit it gracefully? because once the whole application quits, the daemon thread also quits by force. in that case, all the connections in the pool won't get chance to close.
I know there is another solution by JNDI if we develop servlet application. Tomcat provides an easy way to setup JNDI database pooling source that is available to JSP and Servlet. but how about a standalone application? I mean there is no JNDI service provider. it seems a good solution to combine Commons DBCP with JNID or Apache's Naming (http://jakarta.apache.org/commons/dbcp/index.html). but still, I don't know how to keep pool management instance alive all the time. once we create a JNDI enviroment or naming, if it will save in the memory automatically all the time? or we must implement it as a daemon thread?
any hint will be great apprieciated!
    Sam

To my knoledge the pool management instance stays alive as long as the pool is alive. What you have to figure out is how to keep a reference to it if you need to later access it.

  • Looking for a standalone application/system menu

Most (all?)  desktop environments features some kind of application menu in the panel. But for the people running more lightweight environments (like just a tiled wm) have no reason to have an extra panel around just for the menu.
I know about application launchers, such as launchy and gmrun, but the thing I'm looking for is something that could give me a list of all "bigger" programs installed, grouped by category. Because, simply, I can never remember all stuff I've installed over the years.
So I'm thinking: there must be someone out there that has developed a standalone application menu?
Either the program could just scan the "/usr/share/applications" direcotry, or one could try to extract the menu part from a panel program, such as lxpanel?

Hey, adeskmenu seem to be exactly what I'm looking for! Thanks a lot! :-)
(now just need to find out why the aur version crashes... no problem, though. seems to be other versions around that works)

  • Standalone application can't get JDBC data source from Weblogic 10.3

We have the following configuration :
A Weblogic server 10.3 (default installation).
The server contains a JMS queue (jndi name: "DMQ") and JDBC data sources (jndi names: Oracle thin XA - "dataSource", MS SQL - "dataSource1")
We have built wlfullclient5.jar for Java 1.5 ([http://edocs.bea.com/wls/docs103/client/jarbuilder.html#wp1078122]) (according to the docs)
And now we use a test standalone application with the wlfullclient5.jar :
    public static void main (String[] args) throws NamingException {
    bq. Hashtable<String, String> env = new Hashtable<String, String>(); \\     env.put(Context.+INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY+, "weblogic.jndi.WLInitialContextFactory"); \\     env.put(Context.+PROVIDER_URL+, "http://serv1:7001"); \\     env.put(Context.+SECURITY_CREDENTIALS+, "weblogic"); \\     env.put(Context.+SECURITY_PRINCIPAL+, "weblogic"); \\     InitialContext ic = new InitialContext(env); \\ \\ System.+out+.println("Get DMQ"); \\     ic.lookup("DMQ"); \\ System.+out+.println("Get dataSource"); \\     ic.lookup("dataSource");
    bq. System.+out+.println("Get dataSource1"); \\     ic.lookup("dataSource1"); \\ System.+out+.println("Done"); \\
Here is the output when connected to WLS 10.3:

Could you give me a piece of advice ?
    Thanks,
    Sergey

I hit the same problem as yours. This issue is caused by JDK version. The JDK used by Weblogic 10.3 is java 6, while your client program's jdk version is java5. So change the both of them to java 6. This issue will be fixed.
Don't forget to rebuild the wlfullclient.jar which also should be java 6.
    Good luck!

  • How to access internal table data from webdynpro to Flex application.

    Hi Connoisseur
The data transfer from Abap WebDeypro to flex island works well. I followed , there is an example from Thomas Jung (by the way as always Great Work) and  Karthikeyan Venkatesan (Infosys) but this example covers simple type only.
There is no example with complex types like arrayCollection which handle the transfer of data from flex to WebDynpro.
i tried to do pass internal table value  to flex-datagrid.but its not work.
    i would like to know
1.how to access internal table data from webdynpro to Flex application.
2.how to pass the internal table to flex-datagrid.
2.how to pass dynamically in ADOBE flex.
    3. how to do Flex is receiving the wd context data?
    4. how can we update WD context with FLEX data.
Ple give me sample example and step by step procedure.

  • How to access(connect) BI Data in webdynpro for java applications

    Hi ,
is there any way to access and display the BI data in portal using webdynpro for java applications like we did in Visual composer.
if not how to integrate the BI data in webdynpro applications ?
    Regards,
    Govindu

    Hi,
Yes there are ways to do it. But may your scenario and the scenario for which I have done may differ.
You can use openhub to get the data in a flat file and then read it into weddynpro through a java service OR
You can use DBlink(which i have done).
    Please refer the link below:
    [Link|Data from BW to Oracle.;
This I have done in NW04s. Not sure whether a better solution is available in the newer release.
    Hope it helps.

  • How to integrate WebDynpro for ABAP application with SAPEnterprisePortal7.0

    Hi WebDynpro for ABAP Experts,
We developed an WebDynpro for ABAP application on R/3, and now we are planning to show this as an iview on SAP Portal EP7.0 (SAP j2EE Engine--Java stack). is it possible to integrate this application with portal?
If so can you proviode me the way how can we achieve this?
    ADV Thanks
    Regards
    Phani

    Hi Alex,
    Thanks for your response.
I already created the system object R/3 Backend.
Actually some WebDynpro java applications/iViews are currently running on Portal. and the developers developed these in NWDS and deployed the .sca files on the Portal server and we created Webdynpro for java iViews.
but now the requirement is creation of webDynpro for ABAP views.
The developers developed  WebDynpro for ABAP on the R/3 system. So what are the parameter values we need to give at teh time of creation of  WebDynpro for ABAP iview like the Namespace, Application name etc which are mandatory values and how the Portal server detects the application, this means no need to deploy the application on the Portal server?
Shall we need to maintain any JCo Destinations or not?
    Pl share your ideas.
    ADV Thanks
    Regards
    Phani

  • Monitor usage of Webdynpro for Abap Application

    Dear all,
How does one monitor how many times a Webdynpro for Abap application is called by users? We have an i-view in the portal that calls a WD4A program in  the back-end system. Is there anything in the portal or back-end that will give us the usage information?
    Thanks, Neeta

    Hi Thomas,
We are not necessarily looking for performance data but how many times a bsp and/or function module is called. The idea is to try and determine how many calls are made to SWN_WIEXECUTE BSP via a URL (http://<hostname>:xxxx/bc/bsp/sap/SWN_WIEXECUTE/MAIN.DO to track a usage of a new workflow approval/rejection process.
We also want track how many calls are made to SAP_WAPI_WORKITEM_COMPLETE function module to track approval/rejection of a workflow process via Portal UWL.

  • Can we determine the CAPSLOCK is ON in a webdynpro for ABAP application?

I have a pwd field in a Webdynpro for ABAP application.  If the CAPSLOCK is on  then I need to prompt user either via popup or a static text on the page that "CAPSLOCK is ON".  Is there way a to determine the caps lock is on when the user enables CAPSLOCK?  Thanks for help in advance
    Regards,
    Madan.

Thank you for your response.  I am already prompting the user if the pwd is incorrect.  But user is expecting to receive a prompt if the CAPSLOCK is ON to avoid typing incorrect pwd.  If it is not possible to identify whenever the CAPSLOCK is turned ON, atleast is there a way to identify the CAPSLOCK is ON whenever user is navigated to this page/webdynpro application.
    Regards,
    Madan.
