ISight light permantently on / PhotoBooth displaying green

Since installing the latest Quicktime update, the iSight camera is permantly on and PhotoBooth shows a green screen and any images taken from it are green as well. Not sure if it is directly related to the Quicktime update but that was the last action before a reboot and the problem occured.
Any ideas welcome.

Got it!!! Found another thread with a working suggestion. Shut down, making sure it is off before closing your Macbook. Take battery out, hold down on power button for 10 seconds then put batter back and restart. I did not know how to remove the battery but unlocked the back and held the little white button on the bottom of the Macbook. Several green lights go up and down. I closed it and restarted -then my green screen went away and photobooth is back! Hooray! If I could find the other thread I woud thank that person very much! Wanted to spread the word. Good luck!

  • ISight green light is on, Photobooth shows green screen

Yeah, I started up my computer today and for some reason the camera light is on but I'm not even using it. I tried opening Photobooth so that I could quit it, and maybe the camera would go off, but Photobooth just shows a blank, green screen.
    Anyone got any solutions?

    Hey,
I had this issue awhile back too, I had no idea what caused it. I'm not sure if this is a real fix but I ran AHT(Apple Hardware Test) and it didn't find any issues, but after the test completed I booted up into OS X and everything was fine.

I have no idea if this is an actual real fix, but you can give it a try.
Heres a forum thread with the same issue: iSight Problem
    Good Luck!

  • One dot not lit in macbook air green isight light

does anyone know what makes up the green isight light in 2012 macbook air?  I notice that one "dot" is not lit.  Not sure if I sure if it's worth taking to store to fix etc. although still under warranty.   Don't want them to open the screen for one tiny LED light. Is it many tiny bulbs or just one?  Would appreciate any info!

As far as I know, it is only one LED.  If the green indicator lights when in use and goes out when not, I don't think anything is wrong.  However, if you want an authoritative answer, contact Apple MacBook Air Support.  They can tell you if a service visit is in order.

  • How to read green light from ALV list display during BDC

    Hi,
I am currently writing a BDC on CK11 transaction, after the user enters all the data he has to check log for any errors. The log is shown using ALV LIST DISPLAY and the errors are identified by RED lights on ALV LIST DISPLAY. At this point in BDC i have to either save or exit depending the status lights shown on the screen.
Does anybody has any idea on how to read these lights from the screen ?
    thanks
    Udai

    Hi,
I agree with Rich here. Never seen this done before (and I'm pretty sure you can't do it), but if someone has a funky way of doing it please share!
    Cheers,

  • ISight Not Functioning, Photo Booth Gives Green Screen

I got my Macbook Pro back from the repair shop recently and shortly after my built in iSight stopped functioning correctly. The green light goes on to show me it's working but:
In Photo Booth I see this
    |
    |
In iChat when not in a video conference I see this
    |
    |
But interestingly enough as soon as I connect to someone in a video chat it starts to work. I've already tried resetting the pram, repairing permissions and repairing the disk. Any other ideas?

Try the suggestions mentioned in Article http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2090 How to Troubleshoot iSight. Some of the suggestions you already tried.
If no success, then I suggest that you return your comp to the repair shop & have them repair it properly. Don't leave the shop until your computer is working to your satisfaction.
    Good luck!
P.S. Thanks for the screen shots.

Maybe this will show up better in green.

  • ISight light

I just received my mac today and the isight light is constantly glowing. When I open photo booth the picture doesn't register, it gives the same green screen. I am unable to turn it off, I have read the manual and I can't find any tips...any suggestions?

Do you mean you want to turn the iSight off or turn off the green screen? If you want to turn the iSight off just turn the front ring surrounding the lens and it will close the lens with three white shutters and turn the iSight off.

  • Why is my mac book pro mid 2012 display green flickering screen?

Why is my mac book pro mid 2012 displays green flickering screen? I was able to return the screen  back to normal after i turn the lid up and down.
Is this a hardware issue ? should i return to applestore since the warranty still valid?

It seems like your display is damaged. As your computer is in warranty, take your Mac to an Apple Store or reseller to get the display replaced for free, as it's in warranty

  • Vendor non conformance not displaying green in exception

    Dear All,
Vendor non conformance quality notification is not displaying green in exception even after completing well before required end date in QM10.
Can you please let me know the logic of report of QM10 for vendor non conformance notification type.
    Thanks,
    Naren

I assume you executed QM10 with "required start/end" for field for monitor.
-if required start is future : green
-if start is past, but end is future : yellow
-if end is past : red
Exception depends on value of field for monitor on selection screen.

I keep losing entire events in iPhoto on my iMac.  Where an event was, there is a light gray event box displaying a dark gray palm tree and when I hover my cursor over the box, it shows 0 photos are there, where there were once photos.  I am operating a 27 inch iMac running OS X 10.9.4.  It has a 2.7 GHz Intel Core i5 processor, and its memory is 4GB 1333 MHz DDR3.  Is there any way to retrieve the lost photos?

WHat version if iPhoto?  Where is your iPhoto library located?
    TRy
BAckup your iPhoto library, depress and hold the option and command keys while launching iPhoto until the first aid window comes up and repair permissions and if necessary rebuild your database

  • My iSight light is permanently on - but photo booth won't work??

Just got my macbook, and since I turned it on the isight light has been on. Then I tried to open photo booth but the screen is blank and its capable of taking the picture but there is no image. Anyone know what is wrong with my isight camera or what I can do to fix it? the light is on but its not taking pictures what is wrong with it?

Well, I don't have quite the same problem, but I may be able to help. What happens to me is that I sometimes turn my Macbook on, then my light will pop up at boot up. To fix this, I usually just shut down, and reboot. However, it always comes back.
To help you, this is what I think you should do. Power down the Macbook, and unplug any power supply to it. Take out the battery and hold down the power button for 5 seconds (I usually hold it in longer just to make sure). This fixed my problem for about... 4/5 days. But it always just comes back.
I'm praying Apple is working on this somehow... but with the arrival of the new Macbooks, I'm worried we all might be out in the rain with this one, because a lot of apple users are having this problem.
I hope the battery trick works for ya though! If not, you may need to take it in. Good luck!

  • Apple to lights are flashing and displaying to connect to laptop to restore but I don't not own a laptop.

Apple TV  light is flashing and displaying to connect to laptop to restore but I don't not own a laptop. can I restore with the remote ?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
I assume when you say you do not own a laptop, that you do not own a computer of any kind.
If you don't have a friend that has a computer that runs iTunes, then you can always take it into the nearest Apple Store and they will restore it for you.

  • I have a macbook pro...and I'm not able to start it and my power supply light is flashing red and green!

    Hi,
I have a macbook pro...and I'm not able to start it since this morning.
It was working well last evening.
Also the power supply light is flashing red and green! What can I do?? Pls help.

You have to take the MBP with the MagSafe charger to the Apple Store
as soon as possible. You may need  a new charger.

  • Macbook Pro Mid 2012 w/ Thunderbolt built in display - Green light stays on constantly...

Just recently this week,  the green light next to the isight/webcam built in on my Thunderbolt 27" monitor just stays on mostly all the time.  I have followed all of the troubleshooting steps of resetting the PRUM and MCU, placing the computer to sleep, waking it up, shutting it down, doing a hard shutdown (holding down the power button on the laptop itself)   Shutting down the computer, unplugging everything,  unplugging the power cords.  I have TRIED EVERYTHING..... and for whatever reason the green light next to the built in webcam on my Thunderbolt 27" monitor connected to my MacbookPro (I've always had the laptop lid closed)  the light stays on......
I beg anyone who has had this problem, please respond and help.    Also,  FYI   I have NOT downloaded any new software or uninstalled anything... I work from home and this is my WORK PC.  The only thing I tired doing when this started happening was join a google hangout.... and that's when it started
since then,  I have uninstalled google chrome from my mac and also uninstalled the googlevoiceandtalk   application using a script from google that I ran in the Terminal with SUDO.
