ISO link for tutorial about Master/detail

Late last night I ran thru a tutorial that I found at somewhere at the Oracle site and I want to run thru it again, but cannot locate it.
The tutorial had me download a file called apex30
The unzipped files were employees.sql and tasks.txt, and the tutorial was about master/detail pages, concerning employees, projects and tasks...
It was part of the series that had the little eyeglass icon for viewing screenshots. It is NOT Part Number E13363-02 from the advanced tutorials release 3.2
Anyone know where I can find that tutorial again?

About master detail relation ship between tables

I am using jdev 11.1.1.5.0
Use case:
I have 2 table having master-detail relationship
master table - req_hdr
detail table - req_file
req_hdr is drop as adf table (t1) on a fragment page and req_file is drop on popup as adf table (t2).
user can add any no of row in req_file with respect to each row of req_hdr.
to open popup for req_file, a command image link is provided in one column of req_hdr.
On popup, there is two button provided for save and close.
On save button,commit operation is performed and on close button,rollback operation and popup.hide() is performed.
Now the problem what I am facing is
1. If with respect to any row of req_hdr there is one row already exist in req_file and user click on add button to add new row in req_file and randomly user decide to to close the popup rollback operation is performed and again when user click on same row to open popup.
Popup contains no row while in database there is one row exist for that.
2. if user add a new row in req_file and perform save( commit ) and again for next row of req_hdr user open a popup to add new row in req_file and click on add button ,values of preceding row is already populated in new row while is should be empty because req_hdr and req_file have master detail relation and for next id of req_hdr, req_file should display new row.
Anyone have the solution regarding this....?

Error ORA-01790: for INSERT in master detail form

Gidday;
I get the error message 'ORA-01790: expression must have same datatype as corresponding expression' when I attempt an insert operation in the detail region of a master/detail form.
I have checked previous entries of this error I could find - as far as I can tell the parent key defaults are correct.
It seems one of the factors could be that the tables are not within the 'home' schema for the application. I have created a similar default master detail form on the tables, with the home schema matching that for the tables. Within my major application I have ensured the correct schema is referenced in all fields (all those I could find - in the Report Attributes / Column Attributes area).
I just cannot find which expressions are mis-matching their datatypes.

According to [http://ora-01790.ora-code.com] the error is raised because "A SELECT list item corresponds to a SELECT list item with a different datatype in another query of the same set expression." Do you have any Select Lists on your page? If you do, is the "return value" of the same datatype as for the underlying field?
One thing to try in these circumstances is to click the Debug link on the Developer's toolbar at the bottom of the page and then try to insert your record. You will get a whole stream of messages appear on the left of the page and the error should become obvious.
You could also check that all the defaults you have set do not contain spaces or linefeeds at the end - I have seen this cause issues before.

Is there a way to delete all details of calls and text messages? Even from online reports? I don't need them and don't want anyone to access them. I consistently chainge passwords but I am having a problem with an ex accessing my account. I have tried the lega route and they don't have laws etablished for a lot of things online. I am trying to protect myself. I need none of my activity displayed. Can someone please help me?

All it means is that you perhaps skipped selecting the columns for the detail table when creating the form.
Try creating again and this time select the columns appropriately for Master as well as Detail tables.

Questions about master-detail update and delete!!

I have created a view object with two entity objects.
These two entity objects map master-detail tables in DB.
I want to update both tables when the user input, and delete the record in detail table (keeping master table unchanged) when the user click delete button.
How can I do?

did you figure this out? i have created VO made out of two updatable EOs and update works fine. But still have issue with deletion!

Why are there no available customer service links for complaints about retail stores?

Having received appealing service in Meadowhall branch yesterday I can find no links for a general Customer Services and having spoken on chat to a representative the ONLY solution appears to be dealing with store direct. This hardly seems appropriate seen as though it happened in store and I would like to bring this to the attention of somebody higher. The Store Manager can not be the final say in all things Apple.
Does anybody have any ideas?

Data are getting cashed for Deatils in master detail table .

Hi All,
I have created an entity association between department and manager.
There is a method in am to create the record in Department.
Department creation method is calling the Manager creation method using association accessor which is defined in the DepartmentEO.
At the end of successful exection of this method it is creating an record in Department and Manager.
If i am calling department creation method second time without saving the record which was created earlier then under one department its showing two managers.
I mean Its showing the manager records what was created in previous steps as well as created with current department.
If i keep repeating the process no of magers are keep increasing .
Ideally it should show only one manager but records of managers are getting cashed.
Please provide me some pointed how to get rid of this issue.

Take this scenioro with following usecase .
Suppose there is a mster detail relationship between Department and mager Foreign key as departmentid.
If i create a new row in department with DeptId=10 then one record for detail Manger will be created with deptId=10 and say manger id =10.
without saving this record if i am invoking create method for department then one record for department is created with deptid=11 and detail mager table showing two records with deptid=10 and deptid=11.
If i repeat the same step third time mager is showing 3 record with dept id 10,11 and 12.
Since there is Association between Depat and Manger with deptId.
So for Deptid=12 it should show only that manger having deptid=12 but its showing all the manger created in previous steps.

How to create Table in a Table without a ViewLink for Master/Detail

Can we create a Table within Table in OA Page without using a view link. Need a Master Detail records to be displayed but I can't use a ViewLink. Is it possible to
have a Table within Table without using a ViewLink. As I have DetailVO with multiple bind variables. I tried ViewLink but it didn't work so wondering if can achieve this

I created a Table then in the table I created a detail in which I created another table I created a transient view attribute i.e. DetailFlag that I set to my outer table. When I run the page it does show me the Master records and showhide link but when I click on the show it throws an error saying:
oracle.apps.fnd.framework.OAException: oracle.jbo.NoDefException: JBO-25002: Definition of type Attribute not found
Even though all the items in Detail table are attached to VO attributes of DetailVO
As I have a different MasterVO query with some bind variables and the DetailsVO query is different with some bind variables. Now how do I capture when a user clicks on Show and at that time wants to get some values from a selected master row and pass them to my DetailVO Query so the detail data for that selected master row shows. How do I get handle to the selected Row Data so to get the some values that need to be passed to the DetailVO.
I tried following the guide but am not able to have it functioning.

2 different master/detail data sets

Hello. I have created a master/detail dataset for a photo gallery, with customised css. Whenever I tried to use this same spry tool for different purposes, so with different customised css, the photo gallery data set was roped into the new layout. To make the two independent, I tried saving the master/detail css of the photo gallery to an external style sheet - not sure why (I'm new to this), thought it would detach those rules from the default settings. Now when I add a new data set it appears with no css attributes at all. Help much appreciated.

Notice that I have pre-pended the #galleryone to every style in this stylesheet. Be sure to leave a space after #galleryone. This focuses specifically on the master/detail in <div id="galleryone">. If I only have small changes to make, I would add the additional styles into the generic stylesheet:

Curly brackets are the two keys to the right of the "P" key on the keyboard...shift to get curly brackets.
When you make a secondary stylesheet (named to correspond to its use), you must attach it to your page using the Link icon at the bottom of the CSS Styles Panel. Browse to the file and press the Link radio button. Then your additional styles will show in your stylesheet.

Master Detail Detail Form

Hello,
Can someone point me to an example of a master detail detail form? I have searched this form and have not been able to find a complete example. There are several entries in this form about master detail detail however, they are incomplete or direct you to a web site that it is impossible to find the information. Please help.

Sorry if my terminology is a little off but give me a break. This is a forum for App Exp not Oracle Forms. I'm trying to build a App Exp Master Detail Form that will display more than just one level of detail hence the title Master Detail Detail. I searched the App Exp Forum and can only find incomplete examples or links that direct me to a web site that I can not find what I am looking for. This is a question just about App Exp and not Oracle Forms. Any help with App Exp will ge greatly appreciated.

I would like to create a Mster details, so pressing the parent record in the up grid will display its detials in the lowwer grid.

Yes, you can do the master -detail functionality using the driving function in BAM.
There is a tutorial ( on 10.1.3.4) but it should still apply in 11g version .

Primary key updation in the Master details form.

Hi All,
I am struggling with Master Detail form in apex 3.12.
I have two tables.
SaleMaster ( TRN_ID as PK ) Created from Sequence.
SaleDetail ( TRN_ID , TRN_TYPE as PK) TRN_ID FK from SaleMaster , TRN Type is user Input in SaleDetail.
What is best simple way to create the master details form for the above master details tables.

I found a way. I dont like it - but it works.
I made a column link in the detail with the following:

This way I obtain information in the :REQUEST object about which row was clicked.
In a After submit process on the page I then parse this :REQUEST object like this:

Master-Details Application

Hi,
There are many treads about Master – Detail wizard using two or more details table. I built a demo application on http://htmldb.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=26372.
This application is a demonstration using Master Detail wizard, views, and popup pages. “Emp Address Detail” region is based on a view, which is constituted of two tables.
One should build a view according to the business logic.
Click on “Demo for Master-Details” on Navigation menu.
Suppose that there are relations One to Many between one master and two or more details tables.
One can use two regions on a page. First should be a form region for the master table and second one should be a report region with several links.
1.1. Create a view of those two or more details tables. That is one master and one details view.
1.2. Create a Master Details form. The details form should be one of details tables.
1.3. Go to Edit Region (Details Region) and change SQL Query (updatable query) to SQL Query.
The Details form became Details Report.
1.4. Change Report Region Source from details table query to the view query.
1.5. Duplicate columns which are links and reorder them. Replace their header names with “ ” for instance.
1.1. Into Column Attributes/Column Link/Link Text pick an icon.
1.7. Select for Attributes/Column Link/Target “URL” for table Emp_Address and into URL field type:

I think this is the same problem I am having.
I have 2 pages: page1 is a simple report
page2 is a master-detail form
on Page1 a column is a link to page2
Everything at first seems to be working untill I click
on the create button on the master-detail report to create
a new master record, the master report disappers.

What is the proper way to record line numbers in Master/Detail records?

Been thinking about this for awhile, but thought it best to ask the people who really know what they are doing.
What is the proper way to record & show line numbers in a Master / Detail record set?
For example, take Master/Detail relationship Orders and OrderItems. Orders has a column Document_Number and OrderItems has Document_Number, Line_Number. Line_Number should contain the row number 1,2,3,4 ... etc. for each row in a document.
Should I ...
<ol><li>Add a sequence and a trigger in the database? The FusionOrderDemo does this, but then the sequence never "resets" and I've got row numbers that keep incrementing. So one document has rows 4,5,6 and the next document has 7,8,9 when they should both have 1,2,3.</li>
<li>Programmatically take care of the row numbers? This seems like I'm asking for trouble. Anytime an insert or delete operation gets done, I'll have to iterate through rows and re-assign row numbers.</li>

As John said, I believe I'm looking for a gap-free sequence per master record.
The line number of the OrderItems table is the second half of the primary key. The first half of the primary key (DocumentNumber) is the foreign key to the Orders table.
Think of it like line items on an order or invoice. For example, if you were talking to someone on the phone concerning an invoice, you might say, "The pricing for line item #3 is incorrect." In this case, it's good to have a common reference. Or imagine a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet with no row numbers displayed! You'd never get anywhere if you had to explain something over the phone.
If this is tricky to perform, I take it using a sequence and trigger such as the Fusion Order Demo is the best way to approach the challenge for simplicity's sake?
