Issue on Using TOAD to view Oracle10G objects

Dear Oracle Expertise,
I've a interesting topic here.
I use a TOAD's schema browser feature to view all the objects (e.g. tables, views, triggers, etc...) in an Oracle10G database.
The issue is that it seems there is NO SORTING order of these objects in the browser window. We have no problem in Oracle9i database.
Please kindly teach what the problem is.
Thanks.
Rgds,
Ken Chan

Dear Michael,
My TOAD version is 6.3.7.1 g
Is it true that only TOAD version 8 or above can support 10G database?
If yes, I guess my issue is solved and I will download and try.
Thanks.
Rgds,
Ken

  • Paging issues using a dynamic view object...

    I am working on an application that uses JAG to generate JSP pages, i had the requirement to use dynamic view objects where the view object query is generated at runtime. The rest of the application is more or less the same... I used the defult functionality provided by TableScrollButtons.jsp file for paging. Now the problem im facing is that while the '>' and '<' buttons are working fine, i cant seem to navigate to the pages using the drop down...
    With the default handler, whenever i select the range the range displayed remains the same ie 1-10, 10 being the rangesize, but the rows are refreshed with values from the next page. Also, if the next page is the last and is incomplete, then the rows are pushed in from the bottom, so that the last page is always full...I tried the tuning panel in the view object edit dialogue and all settings are fine (i think)...could anyone please tell me what i am doing wrong??

    could it be because i am using a dynamic view object with dynamic bindings? i am using the preparemodel() method in the action as follows...
    protected void prepareModel(DataActionContext ctx) throws Exception {
    inferRangeBindingIfUnset(ctx);
    ctx.getBindingContainer().setEnableTokenValidation(false);
    String sql = ctx.getHttpServletRequest().getParameter("sql");
    String cost=ctx.getHttpServletRequest().getParameter("CostCostCent");
    String event=ctx.getHttpServletRequest().getParameter("event");
    if (sql != null && event == null) {
    setupDynamicQueryAndDynamicBindings(ctx,sql.substring(1),cost);
    if (retrieveOnlyCurrentPageFromDatabase()) {
    ViewObject vo = getIterForPaging(ctx).getViewObject();
    if (vo.getAccessMode() != ViewObject.RANGE_PAGING) {
    vo.setAccessMode(ViewObject.RANGE_PAGING);
    // if(event==null)
    super.prepareModel(ctx);
    ctx.getBindingContainer().setEnableTokenValidation(true);
    if (ctx.getEvents() == null || ctx.getEvents().size() ==0) {
    setPage(ctx,1);
    setLastPage(ctx,getIterForPaging(ctx).getRowSetIterator().getEstimatedRangePageCount());
    else if(event.equals("setRangeStart")) {
    setPageFromRequest(ctx);

  • Issue with use of shared variables in Crystal Reports 2008 Offline Viewer

    Hi,
    I have a report that contains a number of sub-reports which include drill-down functionality. The report returns data relating to an individual team with the user being able to view top level summary information in each area from the parent report and then drill into the sub-reports to view see more detail. The data returned by the sub-reports is filtered, using sub-report links, based on the team code parameter value given by the user. This parameter field resides in the main report.
    One of the values returned by the main report is the team name. This is passed to each sub-report using a shared variable and each sub-report displays this team name as part of a heading.
    This all works fine in Crystal Reports 2008, but when a report, containing data, is opened using Crystal 2008 Offline Viewer there is a problem with the shared variable. The value is displayed correctly when the user initially drills into the sub-report. However, when the user begins to drill into grouped data within the sub-report the value passed to the sub-report using the shared variable disappears.
    How can I ensure that, when a report is viewed using Crystal Offline Viewer 2008, the value within the shared variable is not lost when users drill into grouped data within sub-reports
    Thanks
    Stuart

  • Using a polymorphic view object with binding

    Hi,
    I'm hoping there's something simple I'm missing when trying to setup up the bindings for a ADF/struts page using a polymorphic view object.
    I'm using Entity and VO polymorphism to create a Question which has different types - boolean, multi-choice, likert, etc. I have the various question types created as sub type entity and view objects and added to the app module - when added to the app module the question types are subtypes of QuestionView so they don't actually appear in the Data Controls palette. This setup is like that used in Steve Muench's examples (blog at http://radio.weblogs.com/0118231/stories/2003/02/06/constructingTheDesiredEntityInAPolymorphicViewObject.html and the related undocumented one)
    My question is, how do I get to the data and have jdev create the necessary bindings for the extra attributes the subtype questions have? Since they don't appear as available data controls I can't create a binding iterator or anything for them - short of adding them as spearate view objects (which destroys the whole point of using polymorphism in this case) is there a way to do this?
    Really, the only reason I want to use the polymorphism is so I can have different types of entity validation depending on the type. Should I just simplify this to be one entity object with one VO and put all the validation into "if else's" based on a discriminator?
    Assistance appreciated...

    How else are you planning to associate a JUTableBinding to the 'common' iterator containing all four types of rows and then selectively display them? Perhaps you'd need a custom model over the JUTabelModel that'd filter the rows out.
    I'm not sure if all that trouble is worth it given that your datasets (as far as mentioned in this post) are not large. If these tables/data has to be refreshed/executed a number of times, then you may see the overhead of four queries otherwise it should be fine as database is always faster in filtering rows than doing that in memory.

    Hello, I have the usual issue to use AcroExch.PDDoc/AcroExch.App/AcroExch.AVDoc objects in Visual Basic (MS EXCEL). On my company's machine I have Acrobat X and everything works fine. I am looking for the cheapest solution to get the stuff running on another machine... is there any way to do that with the Acrobat SDK, or do I need to purchase a full version of Acrobat XI ($$) ?

    The Acrobat SDK is nothing by itself. It is just information on how to automate Acrobat - just as the Office SDK doesn't include Office, but is for people who already have purchased Office but want to automate it.
    These automation things are MARKETING TOOLS FOR ACROBAT. Consider this and the technical limitations make a lot more sense.
    So, yes, you need to buy Acrobat. Standard is cheaper than Pro.

  • How to Create an Input Form using a Transient View Object?

    I would like to use a Transient View Object to store data from input forms across a multiple-page enrollment process.
    My question is how to I create the input form using the Transient View Object on the .jspx page? Do I drag/drop an ADF creation form onto the page? Or, use a regular ADF form? Do I need to create the initial row progammatically?
    Just looking for some general directions or set of instructions? I've looked at the SRDemo example (Globals Transient View Object), but I'm not sure how they created the page at design time?
    thanks

    Well following the SRDemo example, this seems to work:
    1. Create Transient View Object
    2. Add to Application Module as a Data control
    3. Add to .jspx page as an ADF Form (not as an ADF Create Form)
    4. Add following code to Application Module containting Transient VO instance:
    protected void prepareSession(Session session) {
    super.prepareSession(session);
    insertTransientViewObjRows();
    private void insertTransientViewObjRows() {
    ViewObject transientvo = getViewObj1();
    transientvo.clearCache();
    transientvo.insertRow(transientvo.createRow());
    }

  • COMPARE DATABASE SCHEMA WITHOUT USING TOAD

    Hi all,
    I have always used toad to compare database schema ....
    Does anyone know about any other way to go about comaparing schema?
    e.g script etc.....

    There are many different ways of doing this, depending on how detailed you want to get and what is relevant to you.
    The first place to start is the "Oracle Reference" manual which describes the various DBA_ views. You can build up your won comparison routine fairly easily simply by running differences. Using SQLPlus, you could go down the road of
    Prompt Objects missing in &2 that are in &1
    SELECT object_type, object_name
    FROM DBA_OBJECTS
    WHERE OWNER=&1
    MINUS
    SELECT object_type, object_name
    FROM DBA_OBJECTS
    WHERE OWNER=&2
    Prompt Objects missing in &1 that are in &2
    SELECT object_type, object_name
    FROM DBA_OBJECTS
    WHERE OWNER=&1
    MINUS
    SELECT object_type, object_name
    FROM DBA_OBJECTS
    WHERE OWNER=&2
    etc.
    This has the advantage of allowing you complete control over what you see (as compared to giving that control to some other developer, such as the Toad Team). There are some disadvantages, including:
    you need to understand what you want and why;
    you need to be familiar with the documentation and the structure of the DBA_ views;
    you need to maintain the scripts
    You could always purchase Oracle's Change Management Pack add-on to Enterprise Manager or use tools like SQLDeveloper as well.

  • Use WebEngine to view applet demo of JDK problem

    When I used webEngine to view applet demo of JDK like this:
    WebEngine webEngine = new WebEngine("file:///C:/Program Files/Java/jdk1.6.0_25/demo/applets/BarChart");
    I got message on the page inside JavaFX like this:
    alt="Your browser understands the <APPLET> tag but isn't running the applet, for some reason." Your browser is completely ignoring the <APPLET> tag!
    So, my question is how can I embed applet in webEngine or can webEngine embed applet?
    Thank you very much!

    There are a few known bugs related to webengine:
    • Issue RT-12439: WebView can not be gc-ed (garbage-collected).
    Description: Memory leak causes the application to crash with an out-of-memory error on web sites that have a lot of content, running scripts, and automatic updates.
    Workaround: To be able to reclaim the WebEngine object, call the webView.setEngine(null) method.
    • Issue RT-12440: WebView is updated even when it is invisible.
    Description: Performance is impacted.
    Workaround: Include a call to the webView.setEngine(null) method in your application.

    Surprisingly, "dbAttributes" -the cause of the error is not even in the User class (or any other class in the entire application)!

    I think this is a very common problem, and the sad thing is there are so many forums with no answers. I was getting this error because I was using client stubs generated by wscompile instead of wsdl2java. Once i used the stubs from wsdl2java, the error vanished****. I think its because the wscompile classes do not have property descriptors for each field in the response class. an example of such descriptors would be:
            typeDesc.setXmlType(new javax.xml.namespace.QName("https://ns.ns.btu", "LoginResponseData"));
            org.apache.axis.description.ElementDesc elemField = new org.apache.axis.description.ElementDesc();
            elemField.setFieldName("sessionID");
            elemField.setXmlName(new javax.xml.namespace.QName("https://ns.ns.btu", "SessionID"));
            elemField.setXmlType(new javax.xml.namespace.QName("http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema", "int"));
            elemField.setNillable(false);
            typeDesc.addFieldDesc(elemField);The wsdl2java classes do have these descriptors for each field.

    I am participating in an online class whose website uses Microsoft Content Viewer to view the class content. The browser opens a new page, but nothing is there. At the top of the tab it says Microsoft Content Viewer, and nothing else. Can anyone tell me how to view my course using Firefox? I would prefer not to use IE, but it works there.

    When originally creating the pdf, you would need to choose another pdf conversion setting. In Word if you use the pdf menu, change your settings there: Adobe PDF > Change Conversion Settings. I would use High Quality Print instead. If you use the File > Print method, click the Properties button next to the Adobe PDF printer selection.
    For your already created form, you can change the file so your users will not encounter issues. In Acrobat 9, which hopefully is similar in process to 8: Advanced > Preflight > Profile tab > PDF/A compliance > Remove PDF/A information.(You'll have to unsecure your form first).
    You can read about PDF/A files in the Help.
