Issue :ORA-01890:NLS error detected

Hi all,
i am using oracle 10g, when i execute below query
Select column_1,column_2,column_3 from view_name
where trunc(c_date) >to_date('05-24-2011','MM/dd/YYYY'));
I am getting this error in Toad, but no errors in SQL developer.
Error: ORA-01890:NLS error detected
Please help me how can i solve this issue.
thanks in advance
karmaya

That's nice.
This isn't the TOAD forum, it's the JDeveloper/ADF forum
You don't see an obvious problem with
to_date('05-24-2011','MM/dd/YYYY')As in those date formats don't match at all?

  • ORA-01890 NLS error detected

    Hello,
    I have an NLS error message while trying to get a series of sequences. My sequence seems to work fine, but when I try to get multiple sequences at on time, I have the following message:
    SQL> select next_location_id from dual;
    NEXT_LOCATION_ID

    SQL> select next_location_id, next_location_id from dual;

    ORA-01890 NLS error detected
    Cause: An NLS error was detected.
    Action: Look for additional error messages and take appropriate action. If there are no additional errors, call Oracle Customer Support.
    The procedure I used is very simple:
    create or replace function NEXT_LOCATION_ID return number as
    l_retour number(9);
    begin
    if to_char(sysdate, 'YYYY') = '2002' then
    select location_id_2002.nextval into l_retour from dual;
    elsif to_char(sysdate, 'YYYY') = '2003' then
    select location_id_2003.nextval into l_retour from dual;
    elsif to_char(sysdate, 'YYYY') = '2004' then
    select location_id_2004.nextval into l_retour from dual;
    elsif to_char(sysdate, 'YYYY') = '2005' then
    select location_id_2005.nextval into l_retour from dual;
    else
    l_retour := -1;
    end if;
    return (l_retour);
    end;
    We have the same problhme when we used directly the sequence.
    Someboby can help me??

    This type of error is difficult to debug. It might have to do with how the NLS_DATE_FORMAT was set up,
    since you are using sysdate in your function.
    Does it work if you do the following?
    select location_id_2002.nextval, location_id_2002.nextval from dual;

    Hi,
    how likely is it that your database is version 9.0 or older ? If so, the bug is fixed in 9.0.1. If my guess didn't hit bulls eye then you may need to provide more information about your environment. Also, a reproducible pattern would be good.

  • NLS Error on Second Fetch from Cursor

    Oracle 8i using PRO*C
    We have a UNIX (HP) environment (operational account) in which the NLS_LANG was not set for the shell. One of our applications opened a cursor for update and performed its first fetch. After processing it went back to fetch an additional buffer. At this point, the application failed with the following error: "SQLCODE: ORA-01890: NLS error detected". When we set the NLS_LANG enviroment variable this error disappeared.
    I need to know what the NLS_LANG enviroment variable is doing and why it is causing the second fetch to fail when it is not set so I can argue with the powers that be to have this paremeter always set for this accounts shell (i.e. globally). No-one really knows what this does here or why it would cause the cursor to fail, and so they are telling us to just set the variable in our own applications shell.
    I know the real answer to this is to set it up for the operational (global) shell but...
    Thanks in advance,
    Bill Rosmus

    it is difficult. The main problem is that you can't be sure that the function is called only once for each row.
    Why don't you simply run the cursor and the function separatly in pl/sql.
      CURSOR myCur IS SELECT myTable1.* FROM myTable1 ;
      SUBTYPE myRecType IS myCur%ROWTYPE ;
      funcResult varchar2(100); /* use the correct return datatype from your function here */
      FOR myRec in myCur LOOP
          BEGIN
             funcResult := myPackage.myFunc(myRec.column1);
          EXCEPTION
             WHEN myPackage.myFunc_Exception THEN
               <... do anything when fetched but function myFunc raised this exception ...>
          END ;
          <...do anything with row currently fetched>
       END LOOP;You even have more control where to handle the exception. Also there is one pl/sql context switch less. Since the function itself is pl/sql it could even be faster to run it in pl/sql then to call it from sql (inside a select).

    You should check alert log file on database like Alex told you.
    And please post Error ;)
    But If You can access +ASM, Or ...by the way... if you stop database ... try to check ASM diskgroup.
    $ export ORACLE_SID=+ASM1
    $ sqlplus / as sysdba
    SQL> set lines 130
    SQL> set pages 10000
    SQL> select NAME, TOTAL_MB, FREE_MB from v$asm_diskgroup;
    If your DISKGROUPs for archivelog on DB full... backup or delete them
    (please start database mount mode)
    $ export ORACLE_SID=DB1
    $ sqlplus / as sysdba
    SQL> startup mount;
    SQL> show parameter log_archive_dest
    backup archivelog
    $ rman target /
    RMAN> backup ARCHIVELOG ALL DELETE INPUT format 'ARCH_%d_%U' ;
    or delete
    $ rman target /
    RMAN> delete ARCHIVELOG ALL ;
    After that ...
    $ sqlplus / as sysdba
    SQL> alter database open
    This justs my suggestion, if your database has the problem with ASM diskgroup full ... because archvielog...
    By the way... please post your result from ASM query and alert log file
    Good Luck

  • IR Report Search - ORA-20001: get_dbms_sql_cursor error ORA-00936: missing expression

    Hi All,
      I had created a IR report based on a table and it was working with no issues.  But after few days, when I try searching using the IR search bar it shows "ORA-20001: get_dbms_sql_cursor error ORA-00936: missing expression" error message. I don't see any debug messages or errors in the debug window. The Finder drop down is empty too, there are no columns displayed to filter.
    When I recreate the IR report(new page) based on the same table, It works fine and there are no issues with the search.  But the old IR report search doesnt work. I have not modified the any thing in the old report after initial creation. Report uses Primary key based on a sequence.
    What might have caused this issue?
    Is there a way to intercept the search query from IR report?
    Apex version - 4.2.3.00.08.
    Any help on this appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Jagan

    Hi MK, as I had mentioned in my post, I don't see any logs in the debug window, query tab.
    Can you please guide me how to check the query logs on search?
    Thanks,
    Jagan

  • ORA-00600: internal error while running procedure in oracle 7.3.4

    I am using Oracle 7.3.4 running on HP-Unix. While running a procedure, I am getting the following error.
    ORA-00600: internal error code, arguments: [15419], [severe error during PL/SQL execution], [], [], [], [], [], []
    ORA-06544: PL/SQL: internal error, arguments: [77102], [], [], [], [], [], [], []
    ORA-06553: PLS-801: internal error [77102]
    Please suggest what could be the problem. Incidentally, the same procedure is running on another installation of Oracle 7.3.4. I am unable to find out what could be the difference between the 2 Oracle instances that is causing this problem.
    Please help.
    Thanks in advance.

    Are there any trace files created on the server?
    Did you see if they have any more information?
    Generally, these types of errors suggest contacting Oracle support to resolve the issue, but with the Oracle version you are using being already desupported, it would be an issue.
    Alternatively, you could search metalink to see if there is any support note on this type of error.

  • ORA-00600: internal error code while drop package !

    Friends ,
    I am using oracle 10g in Oracle Ent Linux 5.0 . Now I want to drop a  user , when I give the 'drop user' command I got the below error :
    SQL> drop user user cascade;
    drop user user cascade
    ERROR at line 1:
    ORA-00600: internal error code, arguments: [psdtyfnd_with_suffix], [], [], [],
    Then I try to manually drop all the object of the specified schema . All objects are dropped except a 'PACKAGE' . When I manually drop that PACKAGE
    again then I found the above error again . Now I am sure that  this 'package' is the main culprit .
    Now would anyone please help me how I drop this package manually  ?

    Hi,
    Glad to know that its solved.
    The cause of this issue is not known. It is believed that importing into a database where these pipelined functions already exist may be the cause, but testing has failed to reproduce the problem.
    In one of the bugs logged for a similar issue,  problem will normally happen only on upgrade and not under regular running of the DB. Therefore, it should be of relatively low impact to the real users. Also, Upgrading to 11g you shouldn't encounter this problem.

    hi...
    finally i got the solution...i know that this problem may occur due to some other reasons also for different users...but the problem which caused the developers facing the error in this case is below:
    they faced the error while importing the dumps in the server. at the same time the application developers told that they can select the tables but cannot insert any datas.
    after listenning to this, i assumed that this may be a space problem with the system tablespace as it is responsible for storing the data dictionary.
    i asked for the free spaces for the system tablespace and got the reason. It has only 0.2% left.
    i told them to issue the resize command for the system01.dbf datafile(allocated 2GB more) and the problem got resolved.
    Hope this helps..thanks

  • ORA-28750 Unknown Error while trying to execute an external app's API call?

    New to using web services in PLSQL
    Environment
    Database: Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.4.0 - 64bi
    PL/SQL Release 10.2.0.4.0 - Production
    CORE 10.2.0.4.0 Production
    TNS for Linux IA64: Version 10.2.0.4.0 - Production
    NLSRTL Version 10.2.0.4.0 - Production
    App Server:
    RedHat ES 3.0 and Oracle Application Server 9.0.4 (IAS release 1)
    We are designing a plsql application, that is able to call an external application's webservice APIs. We have created an oracle wallet for this, where we have successfully imported the corrrect security certificate issued by the API provider.
    All we are trying to do is to call one of the methods (LOGIN), which should login the provided user into the application and should return a valid session id. For this, I have a function, http_request, which first establishes the request to the URI. The code is failing at this call, with following error:
    ORA-29273: HTTP request failed
    ORA-06512: at "SYS.UTL_HTTP", line 1029
    ORA-28750: unknown error
    I could not find more information on ORA-28750..?
    Here is the function cal, in our application package:
    FUNCTION http_request(
    p_uri IN VARCHAR2,
    p_method IN VARCHAR2 DEFAULT 'GET',
    p_http_version IN VARCHAR2 DEFAULT NULL
    RETURN UTL_HTTP.req IS
    v_request UTL_HTTP.req;
    BEGIN
    v_request := UTL_HTTP.begin_request(p_uri, p_method, p_http_version);
    IF v_session_id IS NOT NULL THEN
    UTL_HTTP.set_header(v_request, 'SessionID', v_session_id);
    END IF;
    RETURN v_request;
    END http_request;
    Here is my anonymous block, where I tested the function with the URI parameters
    declare
    v_request UTL_HTTP.req;
    begin
    UTL_HTTP.set_wallet('file:/etc/ORACLE/WALLETS/attask', '<pwdforattask>');
    v_request := pkg_attask_api.http_request('https://streamsandbox.attask-ondemand.com/attask/api/login?username=<valid_user_name>&password=<valid_pwd>','GET',NULL);
    end;
    Please note that user name and passwords used for the above test have been tested to be correct. When I login to web interface of the URL, these values work fine.
    Any help is appreciated as I am close to hitting the wall on this!
    Thanks for your time and expertise,
    Suma
