Issue submitting PDF to adobe livecycle REST url

I am trying to submit (as a PDF) a document to a REST url (a long lived adobe livecycle process). When I open the PDF via internet explorer and submit, it does not seem to do anything. Does anyone know why and how I can get around it?

Here are the details for the above question. We render/generate a pdf using LiveCycle process, the rendered pdf will be on server side and can be accessible for certain period of time, this is the configuration setting on adminUI.
In my project we are not distributing a form up front and submit later at any time. We are generating/rendering the pdf on demand using the data from the application while submitting the rendered pdf we are invoking REST URL for one of the flows. In this case the pdf already on the server side, so it will not requires any authentication to invoke any of the process.
I got error trace of below while submit thru IE using the local machine pdf. So please check your server log for more details specific to your issue.

  • How to convert the Adobe 10 PDF to Adobe LiveCycle ES2 so that I can make the text boxes expandable?

When I convert the Adobe 10 PDF to Adobe LiveCycle ES2 it is a static document, thus not allowing me to make the text boxes expandable.  How do I take a current Adobe 10 PDF with Text and convert it to Adobe LiveCycle ES2 so that I can make the text boxes expandable?

    Hi Alan,
TextField objects can expand dynamically.  There are a few things that you need to do:
    1. The TextField object should be contained in a subform that is set to Content: Flowed.  This isn't technically necessary, but if you have anything below the expanding text box and the subform is set to Positioned, the text will expand and overlay what's below.
    2. On the Field tab of the text field's Object property tab, check the Allow Multiple Lines checkbox
    3. On the Layout tab, check the Expand To Fit checkbox under Y:/Height
    4. Set the PDF Render Format under Form Properties/Defaults to Dynamic XML Form.  If you're previewing in Designer, don't forget to set the preview to Dynamic too.

  • Can I write XML PDF without Adobe LiveCycle ?

    Hallo:-)
My firm have product to create blank /form/, which we save into our XML format. We want to "save as" forms into XML PDF format.
But only use XML not PDF into XDP format.
    I read XML Forms Architecture (XFA)Specification Version 2.4 ...
Is there other resources and samples?
    And Is it possible task?

I'm not sure that I understand your question. Are you asking whether Adobe Reader can open an XDP file and display it as a PDF even if there's no PDF packet in it? The short answer is no. You can convert an XDP to a PDF using Adobe LiveCycle Designer. If you want to convert to PDF at run time you need a server product - Adobe LiveCycle Forms.

    Hi Nicolas,
To avoid problems with SAPLPD you can print the PDF using the control technology.
    Please read the SAP note

  • Embed webquery in PDF using Adobe LiveCycle Designer

    Dear BI Gurus,..Pls. help !!!!
We have  NW2004s with Portal and ADS installed
Is it currently possible to embed BW objects like query results and Documents into PDF, may  be using Adobe LiveCycle Designer to design a pixel-perfect layout?
So for e.g. an A4 size PDF would have several query results and may be also a document or a chart , and these objects can be manually arranged in A4 size layout.
Is there an option to achive this by some kind of webdynpro programming?
I would give best points to you !!
    Thanks in advance

    Kamakshi,
First, any extension fields added must be explicitly assigned to appear on the forms. Through Front-end Adaptation, this would be via the "Further Usage" link. Within the SDK, you'd right-click the XBO and select "Enhance Forms" (which would take you to the same screen as you'd end up at in through front-end").
You must select "Add Field and Edit..." to actually assign it to the Form Template schema.
Once this step is done, re-download the Form Template, and make sure to reload the Data Connection within LiveCycle. Through there, you should see your fields. You'll likely have to dig for them - they appear at the very end of the child elements.
Note that, while fields added through the front-end have a long string appended to the end (for example, it would appear as "ExtensionField_1234AISU897234HJA" if added via front-end adaptation), the fields added via the SDK do NOT have the suffix (you'll be looking for an element with JUST the field name, i.e. "ExtensionField")

  • Adding comments to PDF in Adobe LiveCycle Workspace ES2

Is it possible to let Adobe LiveCycle Workspace ES2 users to add comments to a PDF document without having to download the document?
    How?
I have been trying many different ways for the past several weeks, but couldn’t find a way.
I tried to bring the attachment into a document variable and then using it as the input document for an assign task operation, after reader extending (including online commenting) it in the process. Tried different kinds of PDFs, including documents created from Adobe Acrobat, Adobe LiveCycle designer, static forms, with or without input fields, etc. Nothing seems to work so far.
    Any tips would be welcome.
    Thanks.
    Ali.

    Hi $Nith$,
I tried the same procedure what you had explained here. But,  I am unable to get the comments that entered while reviewing.
Here I am attaching my workflow.
Here I am entering comments in workspace for this document in reviewer stage.  I want to send this comments along with document for next stage (Approval stage).

    optimizePDF
public OptimizePDFResult optimizePDF(Document inputDocument, String fileTypeSettings, Document inSettingsDoc) throws ConversionException, InvalidParameterException, FileFormatNotSupportedException
Optimizes the input PDF document by reducing its size. This method also converts the PDF document to the PDF version specified in the optimization parameters. This method supports the same optimization settings as Adobe Acrobat.
    Parameters:
inDoc - This mandatory parameter contains an instance of the Document whose content is to be optimized. For this object, it is recommended that you either use the appropriate Document constructor if you have access to the file, or that you use the com.adobe.idp.Document.setAttribute() method if you only have access to the stream.
fileTypeSettings - Name of a file type settings instance that is defined on the LiveCycle server. The LiveCycle Administration Console window for Generate PDF lets you view the currently defined file type settings. It also lets you create custom file type settings. If the inSettingsDoc parameter specifies a non-NULL value, this parameter is ignored. If this parameter and the inSettingsDoc parameter are both null, this method uses the default file type settings instance that is defined on the LiveCycle server.
inSettingsDoc - file2pdf-settings XML file that contains file type settings to use for optimization, including the file type settings used by this method. For information about this file, see the description for the createPDF2() method.
    Returns:
An object that exposes a method for getting the optimized PDF document.
    Throws:
    ConversionException
    InvalidParameterException

  • Issues with Stage Folder - Adobe Livecycle Watch Folders Technique

After converting TIF files to PDFA/1-b, we found that the original TIFF files were removed by Adobe LC and moved on to the preserve folder as expected, from the temp folder on stage. After moving the original files to preserve, the temp folders created by Adobe LC were not deleted. Due to this, further processing by Adobe LC was halted. I landed-up manually deleting the temp folders within the share folder, and i found Adobe LC started processing the TIF files again from the input folder.
Is there a setting that needs to be changed on the AdminUI or is this an abnormal behavior or does this require a configuration change? Can someone help me to get rid of this abnormal behavior.
    Thanks. Vijhay Devarajan

the temp folder should be deleted, there could be a delay in deleting these temp files

  • Submitting Pdf form fields to a MySQL database via PhP

    Hi there,
I have recently created a Pdf in Adobe LiveCycle which looks great, and I have added a submit button which is set up to send all the form data in HTML to a PhP file on the server side. The PhP file then collects the form data and inserts it into my MySQL database.
When I run this form from Adobe reader or Professional it works great and the new record is inserted in the database. However I am trying to embed the form into a HTML page, which again looks fine, and all other buttons i.e. Save As, Print work fine.
The submit button however is not working properly now. It inserts a new record into my database, but the fields are blank as if the form data has not been sent or received?
Can you possibly advise me where i'm going wrong.
    Much appreciated
    Cane

    Hi Cane,
I'm relatively new to creating Adobe Forms but I'm looking to do exactly what you have set up, submitting the results to php which sends the results to a database. I don't like the responses being sent to a pdf response file then every so often you have to export to csv then import the results into a database....too tedious. Can you perhaps provide the code that goes behind the submit button and maybe the code that you use on the php/server side? Again, relatively new to this and don't know where to begin but if I can look at the code behind this it would make things a lot easier.
    Thanks,
    Ed

  • Adobe LiveCycle Designer and send XML

    Dear all,
I have developped a PDF with Adobe LiveCycle Designer  that send an XML file to BW using a button Submit. But this PDF works when executed from the Adobe LiveCycle Designer software (tabpstrip PDF preview) but does not work when it is executed standalone (no logon asked.. )
Do you have some ideas to solve this problem ?
    Regards,
    Vince

    Hi Nitesh,
I have installed ADL standalone on my pc.
When I execute my PDF from ADL it works : I click on a button and a logon screen on a SAP system is shown (like access on web report), I fill it and the XML file is sent and shown through RSA3 transaction.
But when I launch the PDF alone, I get an error message when I clik on the same button : 'HTTP 401 - Unauthorized'.
Do you have another clue ?
    Regards,
    Vince

  • Read/write xml data from/to adobe livecycle forms (pdf)

    Hello,
I need some help reading xml data from pdfs created by Adobe LiveCycle and also writing xml data back to the form.
The forms have been created using PROD LC 8.2 and in the future they will be created using PROD LC 9.5.
I am using Visual Basic .NET to access the data programatically.
Can anyone help me with some hints? A library, SDK? Any information would be very helpful.
I am quite new with this Electronic Forms issue and I do not even know where to start.
    Thank you,
    Ionel

    Hi lonel,
Do you want an online solution?
I mean, it follows this workflow:
    1. The user will open the PDF by clicking a link, and a server-side program will generate the PDF and prepopulate it with data from some data sources, and render the PDF to the client (Browser),
    2. The user will fill the PDF.
    3. The user will click a Submit button and save the PDF and Data on the server.
    4. If the user wants to edit the Submitted Form, he will click a link to open the save PDF and possibly prepopulate some fields with data from other data sources, and complete the cycle of filling and saved the PDF and Data on the server.
    5. While the user is filling the PDF (inside a Browser), there might be a need to perform some lookup on the server, and update the form parts accordingly as a result of the lookup process.
For 1-4 above, I have developed a complete base library using ASP.NET which helps you to perform the above.
You can goto my Google Workspace and you will find a bunch of documents, sample PDFs, collections and VB Classes. To best view them, login using some Google Account.
For point 4 above, one way to perform this effect, is to regenerate the required XML Data (which has the saved data before and the new lookup data), remerge the entire XML result with and empty PDF Form, and render the XFA (PDF Form) back to the client. But, if the PDF has one or more signatures, it will not work. So, in this case, you can update the Form Fields of a Saved PDF Form with new Data from the server, but the net effect is that you will have to loose all the signatures that were added on the PDF before.
For 5 (above) there are 3 methods:
    1. Using a Web Service as a Data Connection. This is very easy if you have a traditional Web Service. I have used this method several times and will use it again if the need be. But, there is a problem. If the result of the Web Service is an Array of some Data, and you want to remerge the XFA to get the required effect after executing the web service ... and ... if there are some Drop-Down-List (DDL) fields, the bindings of the DDL Items of those fields will be lost. But, you can rebuild them (on enter event of the DDL Field)  if you have saved them in the embedded XML Data.
    2. You can update few (not many) fields while the PDF is opened (under the Browser via IFRAME) by passing the new field values using the URL Query String method. I have not done this, but I like this method, and I think it is cool. You need to write a server side code to ensure the the new filed values are passed back to the client using the correct URL with the Query String, and you need to write some javascript code inside the PDF to parse the URL and get the new field values and update them accordingly. See this as an example:
    http://www.halnesbitt.com/pages/pdfqs.php
    3. This method is very advanced and uses message communication ques between the Browser and the PDF (which is opened inside IFRAME element) using HostContainer object. This method will enable 2-way communication between the Browser and the PDF on the client side using javascript. I'd love to use this method one day. See example here:
    http://www.windjack.com/WindJack/Browser2PDF/brwsr2acroJS.htm
I hope this will be of help to you.
    Tarek.

  • Problems with Submitting a Adobe Livecycle Designer 8.0 created Form after Update to Adobe Prof. 8.1

    Hi folks,
can someone tell me, which problem is it? Forms created in Livecycle Designer 8.0 with Adobe Prof. 8.0 don't have problem with submitting, but with Adobe Prof. 8.1.
Thanks for help or information in adv!

    Hello Mr Aandi Inston,
thanks for your quick answer! My problem is the following: The functionality email submitting in Livecycle 8.0 created form under Adobe Prof. 8.1 is malfunction when you open the form in Adobe Reader 8.x. There are non error messages to able to locate the problem. When you click the submit button, nothing is happen. Forms created before update adobe prof. 8.0 to 8.1 didn't have problem like this.
Normally, after clicking submit button ms outlook popup with suitable subject, attachment and so on. Executing the form in Adobe Prof. you wont have problem to submit form per email. Now I suppose that this problem is caused by updating???
Why do I claim it? After failed testing the modified form based on dynamic interactive template form "Purchase Order.pdf" from Designer 8.0 under different windows os and ms office versions I tried to test the above-named template, the same problem you will get: email submitting is malfunction!
I hope, my description will be detailed enough to you and I'm glad to hearing from you soon!
