Issue when passing table parameter to perform...

Hello,
I have a table parameter (S_KOSTL) defined as RSRANGE in a function module.
Now when I am passing the table to an perform staeement as follows:
PERFORM get_cost_center_info USING s_kostl
CHANGING lt_output.
Inside the form routine I am using following:
FORM get_cost_center_info USING S_KOSTL TYPE RSRANGE
CHANGING ct_output TYPE tt_output.
LOOP AT it_ausp INTO ls_ausp WHERE atwrt IN s_kostl.
ENDLOOP.
But it says relational operator 'IN' not supported even if I defined S_KOSTL LIKE RSRANGE in function module tbale parameter.
Please help.

Since you are passing the Range which is a Table you have to pass it with the TABLES addition instead of the Using.
Try like this:
PERFORM get_cost_center_info TABLES s_kostl
CHANGING lt_output.
Inside the form routine I am using following:
FORM get_cost_center_info TABLES S_KOSTL TYPE RSRANGE
CHANGING ct_output TYPE tt_output.
LOOP AT it_ausp INTO ls_ausp WHERE atwrt IN s_kostl.

Error in Java Program when passing table to RFC function . JCO is used

Hai All,
I developed a JAVA application to update data into SAP using JCO via RFC. When i pass table to the function module i am getting the below error
com.sap.mw.jco.JCO$Exception: (104) RFC_ERROR_SYSTEM_FAILURE: Conversion from type T to D not supported.
Please let me know how to solve this.

RWCLIENT issue when passing parameters with spaces

AS 10.2.0.2 on Sun Solaris 10. We have reports that are scheduled and sum of the parameters have spaces in the value. For example parm1=I am with spaces. We would then generate a command line that shows the parameter like rwclient.sh server=rep_serv report=report1 parm1=I am with spaces. This errors with numerous messages. I tried surrounding the value in single quotes like this rwclient.sh server=rep_serv report=report1 parm1='I am with spaces'. When running the quoted command the report server shows the parameter as parm1='I' am with spaces. We have the parameter page of the report as the first page which allows us to see what was actually used as parameters. Of course the data in the database has no value that matches with the single quotes so no data. I need to be able to pass a value with spaces and it actually show as a parameter with spaces. We do not have this issue when we can run with forms built-ins as you actually build a parameter list to pass. Thanks in advance.

It's a bit of both I guess. On a command line a space is used to separate switches and variables. Like this demo.bat:

How to skip the spaces, ' etc when passing the parameter to srw.run_report?

Hi, I have got problem with passing parameter to srw.run_report. It seems it doesn't take the special symbols such as space, ', etc.. the statement is like:
srw.run_report('report=test1 p_name='| |:p_title);
if :p_title is "JOE", there is no problem to pass it, but if the :p_title is "JOE LI", then the value of the parameter can be passed to p_name.
Does any one know how to skip those special symbols in the string when passing it to srw.run_report. Thank you very much.

Disco Plus 10g Performance Issue When Moving Table Headings to Page Items

We are experiencing an performance anomaly in Discoverer Plus (the latest release: 10.1.2.48.18), and are wondering if anyone else out there has noticed similar behavior. We're having trouble identifying the cause, and have a TAR openned with Oracle support but they are not able to reproduce our issue, and have been slow to offer suggestions or help.
The issue happens when a user drags a table heading up into the page items area in a worksheet. When we move a heading up to the page items it works quickly one time, but then, every time after that, it takes anywhere from a few minutes up to HOURS to move any additional headings up to the page items area.
The problem occurrs on approximately 3 out of every 5 of our workbooks. We've tried different sizes of workbooks, with large (several million records) and small (a few thousand records) datasets, and none of this seems to affect the issue at hand. The problem only occurs in Discoverer Plus, not Desktop. We've also spent some time researching caching and memory configuration, and believe that we have setup all of the recommended options for maximum performance on our systems.
I would just like to know if anyone else out there in the community has experienced the same issue, and if anyone has any advice for us.

Search Term Issues when passed as Parameters in Opening a PDF file in Browser (Updated)

I am wondering if there is a solution to the following issue.
We are working with PDF files that have been OCRed (invisible text layer). We use a search engine to search the PDFs for terms. We then pass the search terms as a parameter to the PDF when we are opening it in Acrobat or Reader in the browser. It brings up a list of instances and the context in which it is found -- much like the native search function -- but it is not possible to only search for the exact phrase when it is passed as a variable..
In some cases, what we see are two lists -- so it has the filename with a list underneath that is expanded showing search results, and then a second instance of the file name after that list, but it is collapsed.
Is there a way to just have one list or both lists expanded at the same time?
Also, is there a way to ensure that it shows instances where more search keywords are found at the top of the list.
For example, if we pass the search phrase "wanted to buy a car" it might show instances of "to" at the top of the list, but later on in the collapsed list it might show instances of "buy a car". Again, is it possible to prioritize the results, or at the very least, expand everything? I am not sure what else we can try.

Follow up: I should note that some times the two lists appear to be the same or similar terms found twice. At the top it would say 2 documents with n instances (where n is the number of instances). I have noticed this when the search keyword count goes up.
Follow up #2: It appears that this occurs more often when using more than 2 keywords, but I have seen it happen with only 2 words.

There were documents available in the knowledgeable that I no longer have the urls for. I have had communication with Adobe Acrobat support personnel that have made the same statements. I do not have the habit of asking official Adobe tech support people to prove their statements by providing documentation. I have also seen Adobe employees give presentations on computers that have had both installed. When they were asked about the incompatibility, they did say the equivalent of phooey. However, enough people on this forum have had their problems disappear when they have removed one of the two programs that I feel comfortable giving that advice. Yes some people have no problems running both until one of the programs or a system component gets updated and then things stop working. My advice is not to have both on the same computer. When two programs share system calls and can fight over who gets to handle the call it makes sense that it can cause a problem. It doesn't make a difference if it is Reader and Acrobat or any two other programs you run. If you are not having a problem with running both GREAT. However, if you are running both and have a problem, it is a simple step to eliminate one and see if the problem disappears.

How to call a function with generic table parameter

Hi everybody
I need to call function module RSAR_ODS_API_GET (from BW). It recive an internal table with request ids and should return in E_T_DATA "unstructured" data from the psa and in E_T_RSFIELDTXT the description of the data structure, I guess
from sap help only thing I have reggarding how to use the function module is :
"You can call up the function module RSAR_ODS_API_GET with the list of request IDs given by the function module RSSM_API_REQUEST_GET. The function module RSAR_ODS_API_GET no longer recognizes InfoSources on the interface, rather it recognizes the request IDs instead. With the parameter I_T_SELECTIONS, you can restrict reading data records in the PSA table with reference to the fields of the transfer structure. In your program, the selections are filled and transferred to the parameter I_T_SELECTIONS.
The import parameter causes the function module to output the data records in the parameter E_T_DATA. Data output is unstructured, since the function module RSAR_ODS_API_GET works generically, and therefore does not recognize the specific structure of the PSA. You can find information on the field in the PSA table using the parameter E_T_RSFIELDTXT."
unfortunately I when running de report bellow, I get a dump which says:
Function parameter "E_DATA" is unknown
in the definition of the interface E_DATA has no type, which means it can recive any table type, right?
So I have two questions?
1) How to get the code working
2) How do I use the parameter E_T_RSFIELDTXT to parse the data returned in E_DATA
by debuging RSSM_API_REQUEST_GET for this code I found it try to put an internal table with the struct of the database table /BIC/B0000151000 in E_DATA

Passing TABLE NAME as parameter is possible or not?

I want develop a small/simple report like this
TABLE NAME :
WHERE :
ORDER BY :
QUERY ROWS
In the above model i want to pass all the three (TABLE NAME,WHERE and ORDER BY) as a parameter.
My doubt, is that possible to pass TABLE NAME as a parameter? If so!
When i enter any TABLE NAME it has to fetch me out the records of that table (Based on WHERE condition and ORDER BY).
Is that possible to do?
Need some help!

Yes, it is possible with lexical parameters. Look in the help for examples:
SELECT Clause
SELECT &P_ENAME NAME, &P_EMPNO ENO, &P_JOB ROLE FROM EMP
P_ENAME, P_EMPNO, and P_JOB can be used to change the columns selected at runtime. For example, you could enter DEPTNO as the value for P_EMPNO on the Runtime Parameter Form.
Note that in this case, you should use aliases for your columns. Otherwise, if you change the columns selected at runtime, the column names in the SELECT list will not match the Report Builder columns and the report will not run.
FROM Clause
SELECT ORDID, TOTAL FROM &ATABLE
ATABLE can be used to change the table from which columns are selected at runtime. For example, you could enter ORD for ATABLE at runtime.
If you dynamically change the table name in this way, you may also want to use lexical references for the SELECT clause (look at the previous example) in case the column names differ between tables.

SELECT ORDID, TOTAL FROM ORD WHERE &CUST
ORDER BY Clause
SELECT ORDID, SHIPDATE, ORDERDATE, TOTAL FROM ORD ORDER BY &SORT You have to be really careful with this approach. Dynamic SQL may cause serious performance problems.

Performance issues when creating a Report / Query in Discoverer

Hi forum,
Hope you are can help, it involves a performance issues when creating a Report / Query.
I have a Discoverer Report that currently takes less than 5 seconds to run. After I add a condition to bring back Batch Status that = Posted we cancelled the query after reaching 20 minutes as this is way too long. If I remove the condition the query time goes back to less than 5 seconds.

Hi Rod,
I've tried the condition (Batch Status||'' = 'Posted') as you suggested, but the qeury time is still over 20 mins. To test i changed it to (Batch Status||'' = 'Unposted') and the query was returned within seconds again.
Ive been doing some more digging and have found the database view that is linked to the Journal Batches folder. See below.
I think the problem is with the column using DECODE. When querying the column in TOAD the value of P is returned. But in discoverer the condition is done on the value Posted. Im not too sure how DECODE works, but think this could be the causing some sort of issue with Full Table Scans. How do we get around this?

Pass table name as parameter in prepared Statement

Can I pass table name as parameter in prepared Statement
for example
select * from ? where name =?
when i use setString method for passing parameters this method append single colon before and after of this parameter but table name should be send with out colon as SQL Spec.
I have another way to make sql query in programing but i have a case where i have limitation of that thing so please tell me is it possible with prepared Statment SetXXx methods or not ?

Well, I would say (ugly as it is) String concatenation, or stored procedures.

Syntax Error with Table Parameter (type: ANY) when Creating Function Module

I want to create a function module with a table parameter and table type is ANY. But when I check (Ctrl+F7) this function module, syntax error occurs - "In this statement, the internal table "MSG_TABLE_ITEM" must have the type "STANDARD TABLE"."
Could anyone tell me what the wrong is? And how can I fix it?

For table parameters, you can only pass
MSG_TABLE_ITM TYPE STANDARD TABLE
or
MSG_TABLE_ITM ( don't fill other columns TYPING ASSOCIATED TYPE ).
