Issues loading to a 3rd party host

i created my site using muse and when i checked it out on business catalyst, everything looked great.  but now when i try to upload it to my 3rd party host, the site keeps getting messed up.  i've checked and rechecked my assets to make sure they're all connected (and they are).  but again, loading using the FTP option on muse results in a messed up site...images are missing, text is moved around, just general crap that ruins the the site.
i've been reading through the forum messages on here to see what solutions others have come up with, and the ones i've found, i've tried to implement to try and fix the issues (like the asset linking).
what is the order of steps i should be taking to load?  here's what i'm doing so far:
1) check all assets, update any that needed it
2) save site
3) export to HTML
4) upload using FTP to my host
am i missing a step or doing something i shouldnt be?  i've deleted public_html folder multiple times and reuploaded everything but keep getting the errors.....
i also get the PHP error
1 Warning
Connection to PHP file failed. Unable to check if this web server supports PHP needed by Muse forms. Be sure the domain name entered in the FTP upload dialog is correct.
for which i guess i need to contact my host regarding (as per: http://forums.adobe.com/docs/DOC-3581)
any help would be greatly appreciated! this is incredibly frustrating!!

i tried uploading using FILEZILLA and everything worked perfectly!!
consider this solved!!

  • Adobe Muse form with 3rd party host is not working

I have uploaded a form with Adobe Muse to a 3rd party host.  Upon testing the link scripts/form_check.php, I see 3 green checkmarks.  Upon testing the form, the form appears to submit successfully, however I never receive the email.
I checked with the hosting company and this is what they said:
...this form is using localhost smtp of webserver which was stopped due to spamming issues...actually, localhost doesn't have proper rDNS record and the return path for all mails is the server itself, so whenever a client uses its domain for spamming the server's mail queue gets choked and creates issues for others. So we generally do not open localhost smtp and recommend users to use proper SMTP Authentication so that each mail will be delivered and won't create issues for server even if someone does spamming because in that case all mails will bounce back to the mailbox.  So, we recommend you to use smtp authentication in the form and use proper smtp details to send mail.
Please provide a recommendation on what I should do to resolve this?  Is there a way to modify the form so that it uses proper SMTP Authentication instead of Localhost?

  • 3rd party host

I want to get a web host so I can give a new site that will be created in iWeb a special name. What would be good hosts to use for this sort of thing?
    Thanks!

In terms of getting a special name, I think you are talking about registering a Domain Name. This is a separate issue from getting a 3rd party webhost. Of course, a lot of hosting services can also register a domain name for you as well.
Basically, you need some place to put your iWeb designed pages online. One option is to become a .Mac member and upload your iWeb site to .Mac. The other option is to find a 3rd party webhost, like at GoDaddy or 1&1 or Yahoo or any number of other companies.
In either case, whatever webhost you choose, you will be able to access your iWeb site with a particular address or URL. Since these URLs oftentimes may be long and cumbersome, it is oftentimes convenient and desireable to register a domain name (a custom web address) of your own choosing and set up a feature called "Domain Forwarding" to link up the domain name to the actual web address of your webhost. That way, someone can just type in your custom domain name and get to your iWeb-designed site.
Registering a domain name can be done at a lot of different places...I've already mentioned some of the most frequently used companies...Yahoo, GoDaddy, 1&1, etc, etc... It should cost about $10 per year for just the Domain Name without hosting. The entire hosting package may cost significantly more depending on the included features. For your reference, a .Mac membership costs $100 a year.

  • Inconsistent rendering on 3rd party hosting server

Originally, I had uploaded my Muse site to my 3rd party hosting server and none of the formatting or images displayed. I re-uploaded the whole site and now some pages are fine and some are not. For example, I compared the source code for http://spiderinkdesign.com/test/about.html (which displays fine) with the source code for http://spiderinkdesign.com/test/exhibitions.html (which is a mess). The code seems the same and the menu for each is practically the same, the only difference is that "exhibitions" in the submenu should show up as active on the exhibitions page.
Additionally, other pages display ok but the portfolio function does funky things where the thumbnail images disappear arbitrarily. See http://spiderinkdesign.com/test/etchings.html. The first thumbnail disappears when others are clicked. This happens on all the portfolio pages. Other pages are just missing images.
So, I've tried uploading the site again incase there was a glitch in the file transfer process with no luck. The site works beautifully on Adobe's business catalyst server http://spiderinkstudio.businesscatalyst.com/about.html. This does not help me as I want to stick with my old hosting setup.
These issues are not related to ftp permissions problems as Adobe's tech support suggested. So, what am I to do?

Interesting .... your third party one has completely different coding?
    <meta name="Generator" content="Cocoa HTML Writer">
Looks like you brought it into another editor first?
Edit: Although I need admit I have yet to try a third party host because it just makes more sense to me to use BC.

  • Iweb double-url is still showing even though I'm using a 3rd party host

A client of mine created and published a site in iweb.....she didn't even have hosting, so does iweb host files in the cloud? I deleted the site in her iweb app, changed the DNS, edited the domain file, updated to a 3rd party host, checked idisk, but im still getting the double-url (www.mysite.com/www.mysite.com/index.html/) crap that iweb does....it's like iweb is overriding everything else no matter what I do....there was an index.html file that was re-directing to the double-url, which i also promptly deleted...still no change....for the life of me I can't get just a normal URL (www.mysite.com) without having the additional url that iweb adds....I have no idea how to get rid of this....even with a fresh host, it still shows up.....anyone have any ideas other than scrapping the URL and finding a new one? I've never used iweb, but I've been doing web design for 5 years and i've never seen anything like this.....on a wordpress install, the URL works with the additional crap added, but there is some trouble when trying to set a 'home' link...I get a cgi-sys/defaultwebpage.cgi error....which is problematic....when trying to get back to the homepage.....

The iWeb Domain file is just a package where the website data is stored. Once the site is published, iWeb isn't in the picture...
    http://www.iwebformusicians.com/iWeb/iWeb-Tips.html
iWeb publishes a folder containing all the files for the website and an external index.html file. Unlike most websites, the index.html file is just a redirect to the Home page which is the one at the top of the list in the iWeb sidebar.
There's also a copy of the index.html file inside the folder. This arrangement is so that the site will work on Apple's - soon to be defunct - server MobileMe. Perhaps this is where you client published the site?
Its not quite clear how you are trying to conect the site to Wordpress. Can you explain?
If an iWeb site is published "as is", the URL for any page is...
    http://www.domain-name/folder-name/page-name.html
... where "folder-name" is the name of the site in the iWeb app which can be seen at the very top of the left column above the first or Home page name.

  • Photo template 3rd party hosted malbehaviour

I published to folder for 3rd party hosting. Go to the page that has been done with the photos template. On that particular page i moved the photo grid page a few hundred pixels page-downwards to give room for a large text box that i want to stand first. well it's here http://www.padmehum.de/de/cntnt2a.html
Please click on an image in the photo grid the cursor will jump to Y = 0 pixel or something like that. It jumps up all the way page-upwards.
Anyone has a patch for this (mass-replace)?
I'm also looking for an alternative open source slideshow or photo grid tool that i could do with iWeb widgets. Anything appreciated!

Isn't there another workaround. Which actually allows me to keep the photo grid i want it to be.
I thought anyone of the cracks might have a patch or instructions. I'm not exactly sure but it looks to me you have to change something in the photo grid css and js files. If i could replace that 'reset to the top' with actually keep the position you wouldn't even need to create several versions of the css and js considering that you'd had more than one photo grid (and each at a different Y position). But i'm not firm enough in html to know this right away what to look for and what's the command for keeping the position.

  • 3rd party hosts.

Since Business Catalyst's in-context editing is inconpatible with Muse, can anybody suggest a good 3rd
party host that provides easy content updating for my clients?.
    Eugene

    Hi there Eugene,
I do not understand your question.
Muse builds BC sites on a basic level, what of the inContext editor does not work? Anything you want to region etc you can put those tags into the html of templates that you build etc.
Someone with Admin access does not have to use that either, using pages and updating the content there for example using the editor there is also an option.

The directory/path is the path to the root folder and, in most cases, should be left blank...

  • Our converted eCourses often freeze when launched from our new 3rd party hosted LMS...

We have recently purchased a new externally hosted LMS system (Silkroad's GreenLight) and we have a 3rd party taking our older authorware courses (which are working) and updating/converting them using Adobe Captivate 5.5.  Once these are done and uploaded into the LMS system, users are finding sporadic freezing at launch of the converted courses.  In some cases we are using a Riverbed solution to compress content so that network performance is not an issue.  With the various components involved in this situation. we are having a hard time troubleshooting and narrowing down the problem as it is so inconsistent.  I noticed a blog http://helpx.adobe.com/captivate/kb/projects-published-captivate-5-lms.html suggesting a fix and we tried this with one user it worked with another it did not.  Our environment consist of XP (and some Win7), Adobe Flash Player 10+, and IE8 or 9.  Can anyone tell us what the proposed template fix described in the blog is actually doing?  Or if you've experienced this problem and have another fix we could try?  Any help is appreciated....Getting desperate.  Thanks!

I believe the patches offered in that post were to address an issue that sometimes occurs with Resume Data bookmarking in certain LMSs.
If you are currently using Resume Data bookmarking, try disabling it by checking the box in LMS Customisation dialog to Never Send Resume Data.  If that resolves your issue, you at least know what is causing it.
In cases where there are a large number of variables, the only way to diagnose the issue may be to remove as many variables as possible first. Then when you finally get to a stable version that does not misbehave, you then re-introduce the other components to find the one/s that re-introduce the issue.
So, in your case, you may need to look at how your developers are 'converting' the authorware content in Captivate.  Make sure they recreate everything using Captivate components, and insert the images via the approved menus etc.  I'd also temporarily avoid using this Riverbed compression solution until you have established the cause of your issue.  It may be interferring with something.

  • Embedding HTML into forms to make 3rd party Host Work

My form looks wonderful!  Only one problem.... It doesn't work!
It won't says the form was submitted successfully, but I don't receive it.  After reading a thread that said I have to make sure my host provider enables PHPmail, I contacted them they said I need to enter the following:
    mail("receiving-email","subject","message-body","headers");
Into the form to make it work.
    Is this right?
If so, how and where in the form do I embed it.  I don't want to screw up the widget.  I opened the html page for the form, but again I don't know where to put this line, if at all.
    Thanks in advance,

  • Publishing iweb gallery to 3rd party host (1&1)

I've just been ploughing through all the different questions/anwers on this forum and am getting a little confused as I am not 'techy' by any means and had thought that creating and uploading in iweb would be very straightforward.
I've sorted that I need to import all images in already sized/at jpeg
I just want to check (before I go & lose everything!!) that I now upload the site folder and iweb html folder. 2 questions to anyone who can help that has done this with 1&1 - is there anything I should be aware of when uploading to 1&1 and also, how can I input search data? My previous website was with netfusions on a PC - whilst old fashioned it was idiot proof!!
    Many thanks for your help,
    Maxine

that I now upload the site folder and
    iweb html folder.
When iWeb publishes to your local drive, it produces two items: and index.html file plus a folder which has the same name as the site does inside the iWeb app. These two items are what you upload. Make sure you use a real ftp program and not some "uploader" provided by the host.

  • Issues with Form printing using a 3rd party software!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11

    Hi All,
We are printing our month end AR statements using Xerox DP100 printers. We are using a SAP Script as the layout form. Everything works perfectly alright when a direct print is issued to the printer. But the scenario here is the statements are sent to a 3rd party software so that the statements can be saved in their repository and made available to be viewed and printed whenever necessary. Now the issue is when this 3rd Party Software(TPS) reads the SAP generated PCL from its report store on the unix host and generates a PDF File that it presents to the web client user for (re)printing via his/her PC it appears that the TPS or Websphere or Adobe is performing a font substituion - replacing the Univers font(used in R/3) which is not loaded on the unix host with a different font(with different sizing and/or behavior).
As a result the horizontal and vertical positioning generated by SAP(which is correct for the Univers font) is 'wrong' for the substituted font. The fixed size fields print OK but gradually move to the right. The varying size amount columns do not align correctly and fall off the right side of the page.
Can anyone give me pointers on what can be done to arrest this error.
Does the font need to be loaded on the unix host or the font used in the form be changed?
    Regards,
    Karthik

    Karthik,
Sap script behaves differently for different printers. You will have to change margins when you change your printer/software accordingly.
