Issues with Personal Domain & mail forwarding.

Hi all,
I have (after several weeks of fiddling, tinkering, messing and stressing) finally got my personal domain pointed at my iWeb site. It took long enough, but now everything is as it should be.
Except for one small annoying thing.
I have mail forwarding set up at my domain registrar. This works fine, expect when sending mail using .mac mail. In other words, when someone sends mail to an e-mail address which uses my domain name - it arrives in my inbox. But it someone sends it using the mac.com servers, then it gets returned as undeliverable.
Anybody got any ideas?
Thanks in advance,
Paul C.

To clarify, if I've registered the domain "mydomain.com", my registrar forwards any e-mails that are addressed: [email protected] to the mailbox of my ISP.
This works when e-mails are sent to this address via an ISP's smtp server and via most webmail. But when sent via mac.com servers, it comes back with a failure stating: "reason: 554 5.7.1 Recipient access denied.

  • I can't use iCal invitation with personal domain-mail

    Hi,
I use iCal on iCloud with my personal domain mail [email protected]
When I invite another user that have an email address with the same domain like [email protected], the email invitation doesn't arrive!
    Why??
I try the same thing with google calendar, and the invitation arrive correctly...

You have transported all your old copies of those applications onto your Mavericks system. You can't do that nor do you have to. Please do a proper reinstall:
Install or Reinstall Mavericks, Mountain Lion, or Lion from Scratch
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
OS X Mavericks- Erase and reinstall OS X
OS X Mountain Lion- Erase and reinstall OS X
OS X Lion- Erase and reinstall Mac OS X
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible

  • The Java plugin has created a time unfriendly issue with my e-mail account, I can not open or send any e-mail without using this plugin, how can I eliminate this problem without dropping m. firefox?

A few days ago I tried to e-mail a friend, when I started A box came up and it required me to add a plugin..Java. I contacted my e-mail courier and microsoft, they told me that is was a plugin from Mozilla Firefox. Since then I must go through Java to send or open an e-mail... this is NOT to my satisfaction, it takes too long for all of this to open and if it is not cleared , I am dropping Mozilla and going elsewhere. Why has this occurred? Is this a result of the last update? If so can I delete the last update and continue on the other version?
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
    == last week

Sorry, I have no idea what you mean by '''"The Java plugin has created a time unfriendly issue with my e-mail account, I can not open or send any e-mail without using this plugin,"'''.
If you think your problem is caused by the Java plugin, you should visit the Java support forum for assistance.
    http://forum.java.sun.com/index.jspa
If you could explain what you mean by '''"time unfriendly''' issue with my e-mail account", maybe we'll be able to help you solve that issue.
It might be helpful for us if we knew exactly which web-mail provider you are using. It seems strange to me that viewing or sending web-mail would actually "need" Java for operation, its more likely that some other item on the web page needs Java to run some advertising or other garbage that isn't a necessary part of the web-mail functionality you want to use.

  • Comcast Issues with Mountain Lion Mail Client (v.6)

I am having same issues receiving my e mail in Mail in my comcast account.  I did have google but deleted the e mail and even my entire google account to hopefully resolve problem.  Problem remains.  I have tried so many things and am waiting to hear from a tech.  Was on phone with Apple for hours on Sat. morning but no resolution yet.  I am wondering if it is an i cloud issue.
    <Edited by Host>

    Hi,
This thread was created by someone who had issues with their Google Mail not being fetched by the Mail app in Mountain Lion.
Their presumption was that it was the Mail App.
It turns out Google have had a problem and it not only effects Macs using Mountain Lion.
This Google Issue should in no way effect the fetching or sending of Mail via your ISP (Comcast) Login.
I don't see any info in your post that links your Comcast account to iCloud so it is difficult to follow your reasoning that iCloud is involved.
This means you have a different issue to the Original Poster.
Unfortunately it is not likely to get addressed here  (Broadly speaking the presumption is that a different question should have it's own thread)
It can be difficult to judge sometimes if you have a different issue or not.
I would suggest starting your own thread.

  • Dns issues with one domain (Resolved)

i'm currently having dns issues with one domain, in that it won't resolve when I use bt's dns servers.
The domain is owned by a friend in the US who runs his own server for irc, web, and I also have a server that is on his connection, and resolves fine from other machines on different networks, and also resolves fine when I set windows to use the opendns servers, but when it's set to either my routers ip (using bt's dns), or set to automatic (using bt's dns via the homehub), this one domain will not resolve.
I'm pretty certain it's not a windows issue, as it's a clean install of windows 7 that I did yesterday. I've tried rebooting the homehub, and also flushing my dns on windows, but this has not solved the issue.
As I say, it resolves fine on other networks, and also when I use the opendns servers, so I know it's definately a dns issue.
    Using bt's dns servers:
    C:\Users\admin>ping chatnsn.com
Ping request could not find host chatnsn.com. Please check the name and try agai
    n.
    Using opendns:
    C:\Users\admin>ping chatnsn.com
Pinging chatnsn.com [68.51.24.74] with 32 bytes of data:
    Request timed out.
    Request timed out.
    Request timed out.
    Request timed out.
    Ping statistics for 68.51.24.74:
        Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 0, Lost = 4 (100% loss),
(The timeouts are normal...he has his router set to not respond to ping requests).
Has anyone got any ideas on how to sort this out? Preferably without having to phone the helpdesk...lets just say i've done it in the past, and according to the poeple I spoke to in india, I knew nothing about my own systems, and it was a problem at my end...which was not the case, and I proved this several times.
Edit: This issue appears to have resolved itself, and the domain is now resolving again using the homehub for dns resolution.

    Hi,
When NSLOOKUP starts, before anything else, it checks the computer's network configuration to determine the IP address of the DNS server that the computer uses.
Then it does a reverse DNS lookup on that IP address to determine the name of the DNS server.
If reverse DNS for that IP address is not setup correctly, then NSLOOKUP cannot determine the name associated with the IP address.

  • Outgoing mail issue with my domain

All right I'll lay it all out in as much detail as I can...thanks in advance for any insight you can give me.
OS: Tiger 10.4.7 (latest security updates)
    Mail ver: 2.1
I have three e-mail accounts: gmail, dot mac and my own domain.
As of right now, I can send outgoing mail through my gmail and dot mac accounts. My domain mail is dead when trying to send through Mac Mail.
    Gmail settings:
    SMTP: smtp.gmail.com
    Port: 587
    SSL: On
    Auth: Password
    Username: (myaddress)@gmail.com
    Password: (mypass)
    Dot Mac settings:
    SMTP: smtp.mac.com
    Port: 25
    SSL: On
    Auth: Password
    Username: (my username)
    Password: (mypass)
    Domain settings:
    SMTP: mail.(mydomainname).com
    Port: Tried 25, 587, 110
SSL: tried both on and off
    Auth: tried none and password
Username: Tried just my username and tried full with @(domainname).com
Password: tried Webmail pass and control panel pass
Again, I have no problems sending with the other two accounts. But I get "could not send message using server mail.(domainname).com" error message. This after the spinning wheel for about 30 seconds.
Now, both the incoming and outgoing server are mail.(domainname).com. I can receive messages through the account just fine. And I can send mail through my Webmail setup at my domain name, too.
I contacted my host (iPowerweb) and they set up a test account and said they are not seeing smtp issues, either.
I recently switched hosts and I was having the same issue with the previous host, too. In fact, I used to be able to send e-mail through my previous host with the same domain, but it just quit working one day.
I do not believe it is a port issue as I am able to send on both 25 and 587.
Previously I just accepted that I wouldn't be able to use Mac Mail to send through my domain. But I am unwilling to accept that fact anymore...
    Any ideas folks?
    Again, thanks...
    PowerBook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

Hello, and welcome to the Discussions.
Typically, Port 587 would require at least Password Authentication -- using None as Authentication would not be expected to succeed. If None is the correct setting, then Port 25 would be the necessary Port.
The fact that accounts in the same domain work, is not definitive, in my opinion, since it might be permitted without Authentication, whereas other sending activities might not.
Without regard to blocking, sending with a third party SMTP involves establishing "trust", and trust is either established by Authentication, or by being identified by the venue where your ISP can ensure you are trustworthy, and this typically must require the use of Port 25.
The change might be that as a Spam fighting measure, your ISP has only just now required authentication on Port 587, although I think this has already been nearly universal.

  • Multiple Web Sites with Personal Domain Names - Overview

I have read through the last 10 pages of these discussions and have almost worked this out, but I need some help.
    Problem:
I want to publish and edit two separate web sites with their own, individual, personal web addresses
from the same user account on the same Mac using iWeb '08 (2.0.2) and my .Mac account
    _So far:_
I have purchased and registered the two domain names (with Cheap-DomainRegistration.com)
I have configured the CNAME to point to web.mac.com, and "Set up a Personal Domain" in iWeb successfully, but using a separate Mac for each web site.
    The two sites work great.
_What (I think) I need to know:_
(excuse me for copying these posts out, but I can't find a way to link them to this post)
    1) Should I be using iWebSites as suggested by Old Toad (posted Jan 24 in response to StAnNe's "Multiple Websites--HELP!!!")?
I use iWebSites to manage multiple sites.. It lets me create multiple sites and multiple domain files.
    2) Should I be using Mireille's approach (also posted Jan 24 in response to StAnNe's "Multiple Websites--HELP!!!")?
Yes you are correct in the thought that with a family pack you can use different accounts and that is the easiest way to upload with one click to .mac. But it is still possible to publish differents sites to one .mac account if that is all one has. Even if the sites are in one domain file each purchased mysite.com domain name purchased can be pointed to a different page in the site
    Look at it this way
    Original Poster has
site1 page 1 page 2 and so on
then he/she has brothersite page 1 and so on.
They each have a domain name purchase wherever
then site1domain.com is forwarded to site 1 page1
and brotherdomain.com is forwarded to brothersite page 1.
Even though both sites are in the same file they do not have anything to do with each other.
This is one possibility there are others but for a novice user this could be the way to go for simplicity.
(Mireille, if you're there, can you clarify what you said - thank you)
    3) Would I use Roddy's fix (posted Jan 23 in response to canadensis' "Publishing Multiple Websites?")?
Here's an example of how you can separate two websites that are on the same domain file.
    Quit iWeb
Create a new folder on your desktop and call it "iWeb Sites".
Inside this folder create two more - Website A, Website B.
Go to Home Folder/Library/Application Support/iWeb and copy your domain file - command C
Paste this into folders A and B - command V - and also paste a copy of it somewhere else - like in Docs - in case you make a mistake!
Double click the domain file in the folder Website A - this will launch iWeb.
In the left column, delete site B, save and quit iWeb.
Double click the domain file in the folder Website B to launch iWeb.
Delete website A, save and quit.
Drop the iWeb sites folder into your Home Folder.
If you want quick access to this folder you can highlight it and do command L to create an alias to leave on the desktop.
From now on, to launch any site in iWeb you open its folder in the iWebsites folder and double click the domain file.
This is not necessary when you are working on only one site as iWeb saves the domain file of the last site you were working on to Home Folder/Library/Application Support/iWeb. When you open the iWeb application, the last site you worked on will be launched.
    Summary:
I'm not sure if some of the answers in previous discussions allow for personal domain names, which is what I need.
I would be very grateful for any suggestions as I'm getting bogged down.
    Many Thanks,
    Jeff

When you said, "you don't need to do CNAME for both sites…", would this method still allow me to use personal web addresses for both sites?
Yes. With "Ordinary Forwarding" you normally just type your .Mac url (web.mac.com/username/sitename) into a form at the place where you have your name.
I thought I was using 'web.mac.com' as the 'www' CNAME (alias) for my personal domain name (web address), so that when someone typed in my personal domain name they would 'go' to the domain registration location, which would then pass it on to the .Mac server, where my web site is hosted.
That's exactly right. It's just not the only way to do that. Ordinary Forwarding is another way, but it differs in terms of what appears in the address bar of the browser. Either you will see web.mac.com/username/.... or, if you add "masking", you will see your personal name for all pages. The CNAME method results in a address bar that reads www.myname.com/sitename/pagename.html.
    Am I way off?
    All help gratefully received,
    Jeff

  • I want more than one site, all with personal domain names

I have a dot mac account and I created a personal website using iweb (www.personalname.com) and now I would like to make a site for my business using iweb (www.businessname.com). Is that even possible? I've followed directions from other people. i know that I need to go into iweb and under file click new site and choose the templates and so on. But once I do all of that, I click publish and a box comes up and says this new site will now be published under your www.personalname.com.
Am I missing something, or do I have to buy a completely new dot mac account for my business? Someone please help and walk me through this.
    Thanks a bunch!

As Wyodor suggested have your domain name provider activate domain name forwarding for the second site. You'll need to open that site in your browser and get the actual URL to give the provider for forwarding.
To make it easier to edit and publish individual sites I use iWebSites to manage multiple sites.. It lets me create multiple sites and multiple domain files.
If you have multiple sites in one domain file here's the workflow I used to split them into individual site files with iWebSites. Be sure to make a backup copy of your original Domain.sites files before starting the splitting process.
This lets me edit several sites and only republish the one I want.
If you expect a lot of traffic to your business site you might want to consider having it hosted on a commercial hosting site that will not be bogged down with all of the bells and whistles that the MobileMe servers are in order to provide all of the special features. A commercial server will be faster and more reliable. Depending on where you purchase your business domain name you can host it on their servers.

  • DNS issues with replaced domain controllers

I have slight issue I hope some one can help with.
We recently replaced some domain controllers in our 2 core sites the process we followed is as below:-
moved FSMO roles to different already working servers
demoted the old domain controllers and decommissioned.
built virtual machine replacements with the same names.
    depromo'd the servers
ran all the tests and it reported everything was fine.
moved the fsmo roles to the new servers.
repeated this for the remaining servers.
this was our 2003 domain to free up physical space but our new 2013 domain what will exist separately until all our applications our tested.
however the problem we now have is that non domain controllers have issues registering against the new servers despite being able to do look-ups against them all (replication testing looks fine). one of our regional DC's seems to have taken over as the primary
replica. as changes made else where disappeared but changes made there got replicated out perfectly.
I have managed to resolve this particular issue by added the domain controllers back into several locations in DNS manually (maining forward lookup zones>my domain>_tcp )but we still experience the odd issue with servers not registering in DNS properly
(although it's a lot better since the I did the above)
so basically does any one have a idea on what could have caused this issue and how I can resolve?

should the demotion not automatically remove it from sites and services automatically (it could well be this if not) the question then becomes how do we resolve the issues we have now.
    Hello,
NO, as you can demote a DC and it still may run site-aware services like DFS and for this reason a DC is NOT automatically removed from AD sites and services during demotionprocess.

  • How to set up domain mail forwarding

    Greeting gurus.
I am a BT Business Broadband custome and BT also host my domain.
I am terminating my Boradband service next week but the domain is not for renewal until 2012.
I have trying to find how to set  up mail forwarding for the domain.
I would like all mail addressed to [email protected] -> [email protected]
Replies can then be sent from the appropriate domain.
The reason is that mydomain.com is effectively being mothballed, but I wish to ensure that any mail does not just get lost.
I am on the support line but wanted to know if anyone can help me quicker.
    thanks.
ps: this is my first post so be gentle with me!

The business forums would be a better place for this.
    http://business.forums.bt.com/
I've not hosted a domain with BT, but all the other domain registration/hosting companies I've used have a browser based control panel where these things are configured.
You say the domain is being mothballed. You'll have to continue with the registration though, and BT claim to offer email with all domain registrations, so why not just carry on as you are ?

I have a friend using Windows Live Mail and he's been having some weird issues with it. When he goes to forward an email, it will occasionally open the email up twice, which isn't a huge deal it's just more annoying than anything. I thought maybe there was

  • Mailboxes cross-talk issues with Mountain Lion Mail Client

I have 4 mailboxes: two are setup as IMAP and two are setup as POP. Three of those are gmail accounts (one IMAP two POP) and one with IMAP is from a professional server.
The issue is that mail from the professional server with IMAP setup and mail from the gmail account with POP setup both forward copies to my gmail account with the IMAP setup.
I have no filters/rules in my gmail accounts or the mail account on the professional server.
I have no rules in mac MAIL.
Where should I look to solve this problem?
    Thank you.

    HI,
This might seem backward but let me explain.
Previous in iChat (version 4 through 6) it has been possible to set up a GoogleTalk account.
However compared to the versions on Mail with those ichat version the GoogleTalk servers have been much more "fussy" over the ID.
Mail has seemed to except using either/or @gmail.com or @googlemail.com version to get the Mail.
However iChat and later Messages beta seemed to be a lot more precise and the ID had to Match exactly as it appeared when you logged in to Google mail web page (or iGoogle) - Pull down your Account name.
As the System Preferences > Mail, Contacts and Calendars seems to pick up on Mail Account IDs , iChat/Messages IDs and other items I am sure it is possible that it is picking up an ID that works in Messages but now Mail is being a little more fussy.
After that I would check if Mail has a different password recorded.
Technically it is possible to set up an Account in Mail separate to the System Preferences > Mail, Contacts and Calendar pane (It gets added though).
One clue will be if the said System Preferences pane has two entries for Google.
From there I would open Keychain Access (Applications/Utilities) and check the password list for two or more entries for Google IDs and check the Password (Tick the Show Password Box and then enter your Login passwords an Allow once button to view)

  • Personal domain vs forwarding

Sorry, probably a bit of a dumb question for some of you - what's the difference between setting up my personal domain (iweb option), and setting up forwarding with the people who look after my domain (godaddy)?

How do the options of CNAME vs domain forwarding affect the ability to use a custom favicon on me.com? I get the impression that a custom favicon doesn't work with a forwarded domain.
On a related note, I'd like the custom favicon to only affect one specific web site subfolder --and not other web site subfolders ... for example, with the address of www.domain.com pointing to web.me.com/username/redirect-index.html and the index.html file points to a website subfolder (one of three differnet websites): (a) can the CNAME point directly to the website subfolder, or is the index.html redirect needed, and (b) where does the favicon.ico file go?
Currently I use domain forwarding (GoDaddy.com) with masking pointing directly to the website folder --but I can't get the custom favicon to work. I just get a generic file icon.

  • Mail issues with Apple's Mail

I was using Outlook Express to send & receive mail.  And then (because Outlook Express has been giving me fits with errors and needing to put my password in every time I wanted to use it)  I switched to Mail (the one that came on my Mac).
And now, with Mail, something crazy is happening on my iPhone and iPad.  It showed that it was downloading and downloading and downloading, but I don’t know what it was downloading.  Archived stuff?  Everything that is in everything in every folder on my Mac?
Then it stopped downloading stuff, and now it won’t send, I get an error saying that it Cannot Send Mail.
I tried to delete my email account from settings so that I could start over, but the gear just spun and spun for over 30 minutes.
I have no idea what is going on, but I think that it must be connected to the fact that I switched from Outlook Express to Mail.
Please, if anyone can help I would really appreciate it.
