It it okay to use a powerbook G4 cord as an extension cord for my iPad?

As you know, the iPad cord for charging is VERY short, so I sometimes need to use an extension cord. I noticed that when I slide that plug piece out of the iPad cord, it had same connector as my powerbook cord which I haven't needed lately and it fits perfect. Is there any reason this can't be safely used, like maybe some voltage issue or something else I know nothing about?
Thanks

It is safe to use the MB plug extension on the iPad wall charger. Apples make the plug thingy removable to different plugs for different countries can be used. The iPad wall charger and MB charger work on both 120 and 220 V too.

Can I use a Nokia C2-01 as bluetooth 3G modem for an iPad 2?
I asked the same to Nokia support, and they told me that the iPad should be compatible with one of the following profiles: "A2DP, AVRCP 1.0, DUN, FTP, GAP, GAVDP, GOEP, HFP, HSP, OPP, PAN, PBAP 1.0, SAP, SDAP, SPP 1.0".
         I just didn't get it ._.

Yes. Download Nokia Suite. Then connect your phone to the pc via Nokia Suite. Define proper access points. Then you will be able to use the phone as modem.

can I use the samsung galaxy phone as a hot spot for the ipad

If your Cell carrier supports it, you should have an option in your phone for "Portable Wifi Hotspot"  under Wifi and networks.
Look in your Phone's manual for specifics.

Once you set up the Hotspot, the iPad can connect to it like a regular Wifi network.

  • I have an iPad 2 and want to use video mirroring. I bought a VGA adapter for the iPad, iPhone and iPod so that I could plug the iPad into any monitor, TV, projecter, etc without it being an HD device. I plug it in and it appears the monitor has no communi

I have an iPad 2 that I want to use with video mirroring to give lectures with. I bought a VGA Adapter for the iPad, iPhone, and iPod as I want to be able to connect with any TV, monitor or projector for lectures, not just an HD device.. After plugging in my iPad to the VGA adapter and then to the video device, it appears that there is no connection with the iPad. Anybody have any thoughts?

  • Why can't I use my ipod classic as an external hard disk for my ipad?

Seems a no brainer to me that I should be able to use an ipod as an external hard drive for my ipad. Hec, it's all apple but apparently not.
Does anyone have a solution? if not, come on Apple, support your own products! I thought compatibility and interconnectivity were bywords for apple products.

Appearing as an external hard drive was never a feature of any iPhone model or iOS version.  The only way your older phones could do this is if they are jailbroken.
I'm just trying to backup my photo's and videos onto my own hard drive...now I can't.  *****!
That's easily done as descibed here:

  • Can I use the SDK on a PC to develop applications for the iPad, iPhone, etc

I was thinking about paying the $99 a year to join the developer program because I want to download the SDK and try creating applications for the iPhone and iPad; however, can you download the SDK and use it on a PC or does it require that you have a Mac in order to do development work? The xcode4 and interface builder feature looked rather nice but I didn't know if I were to sign up and download if it would all run on my PC (Windows 7)or not.

It will not run under windows, and you need an Intel-based Mac running Snow Leopard to use it. Have you looked at the Mac Mini?

  • Can I use the AC adapter made for the iPad with my iPod Video (5th Generation)?

I have a choice of using the original adapter or the newer adapter made for the Ipad. The original is rated at 5 volts @ 1 amp output. The newer (iPad) adapter is rated at 5.1 volts @ 2 amps output. I tried to recharge the battery and it worked, but the recharge time from a dead battery was around 6 hours. The difference of the voltage is neglegible, but the ampere rating shouldn't hurt the iPod as it only draws as much current (amps) as needed. Having said this I thought that the recharge time would be less...apparently not. I just do not want to damage the iPod. The iPad charger does not get as warm as the original while charging.
Any help is most appreciated. Mike (Phillipsburg, Missouri, U.S.A.)

I've been using my iPad charger to charge my iPhone for over a year. I haven't had any issues. But I can't promise you that your experience would be the same.

  • Using airport express w/extension cord

I know it's a weird question, but I live in a condo, the pool is about 30-40 feet from my condo and right now  I get about 1 bar if any at the pool. If I were to use a airport express attached to an extension cord and dangled it over my backyard fence it would shorten the distance by about 10-20 feet, and if it were to work it would be a good reason to invest in an express.

    Thanks for the clarification
In general, the best location for an "extending" Express is a point that is about half the distance between the AirPort Extreme and the area that needs more wireless coverage.
Obstructions like walls or ceilings may affect this a bit, and some experimentation if often needed to find the "ideal" spot.
The most common mistake that we see on the forums is that users tend to locate the Express in the area where they want more coverage....not at an approximate mid-way point.  It's important to remember that the Express can only "extend" the quality of signal that it receives. It does not "boost" the signal, it takes the signal that it receives and makes it go further.
If the Express is located too far from the main router, it receives a poor signal....and unfortunately just makes a poor signal go further.
Bottom line, with wireless and all the other things that can interfere with a wireless signal.....you just don't know how something is actually going to perform unless you try.  So, it's a good idea to understand the store's return policy in case things don't work out as expected.

  • Using my powerbook as an external DVD Player

Okay. So my Sony DVD player crapped out on me last night. The one I use with my TV. I just plug it into my component stereo system for 5.1 surround.
I was wondering... is there a way to use my powerbook as a dvd player until I buy a replacement for my sony?
I have a box that converts FW to Analog (ie red, yellow, white). Is there a setting in my dvd player that will out put the DVD playback to FW or something?
    many thanks!
    d

There are adapters you can buy. Browse the Apple store. Its a video adapter that outputs Composite video and S video. Also, you can buy a cable that plugs into the headphone jack and gives you a Left and Right stereo plug.
    Hope this helps!

  • Can I use my Powerbook 12" without the internal HD?

    Hi everybody!
I have a Hard Drive (160GB, Samsung) in my Powerbook12", that's about to fail. I bought it less than a year ago, so I can get a new one for free, except that I have to pay for, or do, the extraction from the computer. As some time may elapse before they send me the replacement drive that I will install, I wondered if I would be able to temporarily use my Powerbook, booting from an external firewire hard drive, but with no internal hard drive. Thanks for your help!

Thank you for your answer. In fact, I was wondering if the physical absence of the internal HD might be a problem when reassembling the computer to use it, this led me to the idea of installing the old initial internal drive, which I was given back when my present hard drive was installed. Does this make any sense?
Or can I really reassemble my computer leaving the hard drive bracket empty, and make it work?
More generally, are there other options for upgrading a 12" 1.33 GHz Powerbook, apart from increasing the hard drive size and RPM?

All Apple power supplies work world-wide with the proper plug adapter.
I have my MacBook plugged into the grid all the time, 24 hours a day w/o any problems.

  • Is it okay to use my ipad on AC power when it fully carged?

I want to maximize my iPad's battery life and use battery when it is needed.I want to know that whether It is okay to use my ipad on AC power when it fully carged

Because the battery does not overcharge, it shouldn't hurt the battery - but - I don't use my iPad this way for days on end. That sort of defeats the whole portability factor of having a battery powered device like this.
I will leave my iPad on the charger for hours at a time while I am using it - maybe all day long on weekends - and I still get about 10 hours a day out of a full charge. I did this my my original iPad that is 20 months old and the battery is still going strong.

  • Is it okay to use macbook pro in an airplane?

I am new to the mac community and was just wondering if its okay to use my macbook pro in an airplane. I just want to make sure if there is anything i need to know about before taking it on a plane. Thank you.

Air density and pressure (not absolute height) could be an issue if you were climbing Mount Everst.
Airplane passenger cabins are pressurized to the equivalent of a much lower altitude (less than like 2000 meters/6000 feet), so altitude specs do not apply.
