It's a mystery... Please help. (Airport IP related)

I'm having trouble with Airport. Here is the story: I have a cable modem and the snow airport. It has been working well with my Powerbook G4. A short time ago, I brought home an iMac G4. I was having trouble getting both computers online at the same time so I reset the airport. Now iMac will go online but the airport admin utility wont find the airport. The Powerbook will not go online but I can administer the airport from it. To make things more curious, the airport is is set up to distribute a single address in the form of 10.0.1.X with X being 1 for the airport. The laptop is 2. The iMac (this is the only one that connects to the internet) has its IP address as 207.237.233.192 with the airport being 207.237.232.1. What is frustrating is that I am unable to get these two computers on the same page because the admin utility won't recognize the airport from the comptuer that works. I've tried manually setting the IPs to no avail. Any ideas? Thanks in advance

They are both on my airport network without question. The airport admin utility on the iMac will not recognize any network even though my wireless network is listed correctly on the airport menu and I can access the internet.
At first the Powerbook was working with the base station but when I couldn't seem to add the iMac to the network, I reset everything. Then for some reason the iMac would work but the Powerbook wouldn't.
The Powerbook lists the same network (mine) under the airport menu and the admin utility will recognize my base station but I am not connected to the internet. The diagnostics program failed to solve the problem. It is successful up to ISP then fails.

Please help, Airport Extreme incredibly slow

Someone please help if you have any idea what to do.
I have a 5th Gen (dual 2.4 and 5 Ghz) Airport Extreme and have been using it successfully for the last 2 years.
It has been connected to a Mac mini, Macbook Pro, Macbook Air, 2 iPhones, and an iPad.
I recently moved and was forced to switch my ISP from Cox to MediaCom.
I have a Scientific Atlanta 2100 cable modem and an Internet package that allows 30 Mbps.
However, I can only get 0.5 - 1.5 Mbps less than 50 feet away from my Airport Express (AEBS).
I have been searching the Internet and trying to solve this problem from 3 days and am ready to throw the AEBS out the window.
Here is what I have tried:
I had MediaCom visit my house twice. They tell me to get a DOCSIS 3.0 modem, but I'm already getting close to 30 Mbps when I connect my Macbook Pro directly to the modem via Ethernet cable so I don't think the modem is the issue.
I have also accomplished:
A soft, hard, and factory reset on the AEBS
A complete shutdown and power up of the modem, AEBS, and ALL of the wireless devices in my house.
Changed the 2.4 and 5 GHz channels manually to improve signal quality and decrease interference
Downloaded iStumbler and searched the house for the best reception locations
Tried to force separate 2.4 and 5 GHz networks to improve download speed
Used an Airport Express to extend the network (with no success)
I simply do not know what else to do other than buy a new modem or router.
Any help is MUCH appreciated.

If you are using the same Mac, looking at you OS it would appear that you have upgraded to 10.8.4. Did you upgrade your RAM at the same time. You need at least 4GB and even that would depend on how much you have going on in the background.
Or have you a newer machine. Incidentally, your profile is out of date.

Mystery--- PLEASE HELP!!

Okay so I was in a session that I have been working on for days! all of a sudden all the tracks went to mute...except for external midi trakcs. but I couldnt find anything that was in solo. so I just pressed 'S' anyways...and all the tracks stopped doing it!! But then when I go to create a New mono track..there are dots next to input 1 and 2 in the selection window before you even create the track---this is the only session I have seen that in...it looks like this •input 1 and on the bottom •input 2, but all the other inputs have no dots next to them....Here is the real problem!!! ONLY THAT SESSION KEEPS CRASHING! i dont even need to press play...it will just crash on its own...it wont go past measure 5.1.1.1......Please help!! maybe i messed up something iin my environment. Idunno...Please help!

Sound like a corrupted project. Disable the Core Audio (press control while launchin Logic) and bypass all the Plug Ins. Then bring them back one by one - as soon as you activate a corrupted Plug Logic will crash so you at least know what is causing this mess.
If this doesn´t help you can at least retrieve all your Audio files and Plug In settings in order to export them into a fresh project, which of course is a pain in the bum....

Follow-up action : please help - Inspection Lot related

I am having the following trouble:
Through MB02, a printout is generated to the local printer (LOCL).
However, through QA11, when we save, we have a custom follow-up action attached that pops-up a
dialog screen.
The follow up action is triggered when a usage decision is changed for the inspection lot.
The follow-up action (configured in IMG) calls a Function Module and a screen, which in turn populates
a value into a custom DB table (based on the buttons, on the screen, sending either to LOCL or to a
zebra printer).
Now, what has to happen is that after inserting the value into a custom table, it should also open a sapscript and output.
The Sapscript and print program are there, with the print program being created 3-4 years ago by someone
else. However, even though we have code in the print program to update nast, in turn creating a message
for output (1st the custom DB table is checked to see if the values match, MATNRCHARG), It does not update
NAST. When we go through MB02, it does, but this should happen automatically after selecting one of the radio
buttons on the original pop-up & selecting print.
Please help. I don't know what to do and can't enable a debugger from the pop-up and if going though QA11,
I can't get it to stop inside the print program (only inside the custom FM).

Mac Newbie Please help: Airport Express conflict: cordless phone?

I apologize if there have been threads on this before, but I searched and searched to no avail. Here is my problem:
I recently purchased the new 15" MacBook Pro... LOVE IT! I also purchased an Airport Express for wireless. I have SBC Yahoo! DSL with a 2Wire modem w/built-in firewall. With Apple Care help, I have been able to connect just fine to the internet via the Airport Express. However, after my computer goes into sleep mode (overnight, for example)... when I "wake up" the computer and try to get onto the net or access my email, I cannot... usually there is a box that appears on my desktop that says someting along the lines of cannot find my connection.
As an aside, I have an old cordless 2.4 GHz phone in my apt. One Apple Care rep told me this was the problem and that I needed a 5.8 GHz phone. Another Apple Care rep told me that might help, but told me has used both 2.4 and 5.8 phones and fnids they can both have this problem so he wanted to try resetting the airport using the bridge feature hoping that would fix things. This solution failed.
I don't mind spending a few bucks on a new phone. I just want to have a reasonable expectation that this is indeed the problem. Any thoughts? Similar experiences? Also, if you have had and have solved this problem, is a 5.8 Ghz phone or the new DECT phones a better choice? I don't want to buy a phone that will work but impair my net speed. And finally, what are the chances that a microwave in an adjoining room or a neighbor’s phone could be causing this? I heard murmurings that Apple had fixed these problems with the newest Airport Express models.

I did notice something that confused me; right after I clicked MANUAL SETUP in Airport Utility: a window that said something about ALLOW, DENY, ALWAYS ALLOW my personal information (or "confidential", I forget the exact wording and have not been able to replicate it)... after clicking DENY a few times and failing to get into MANUAL SETUP, I clicked ALWAYS ALLOW and everything seemed good to go. Any information you can give me on this, and what I did by allowing all?
This sounds like OS X's software firewall is doing its job. (ref: System Preferences > Security > Firewall). When you selected Manual Setup, this request had to go through the OS X firewall and it was asking you if this request was ok to do. When you first answered DENY, it prevented you from successfully administering the AirPort. The right response, in this case, is what you chose next and that's ALWAYS ALLOW.
Also in the manual setup/airport utility/wireless should my CHANNEL be set at AUTOMATIC?

No. In this case, you are not extending the wireless range of your router with another AirPort base station, so leaving this unchecked would be appropriate.
Also, I let my computer go into sleep mode for a few hours while I had a dinner and a late nap and even used the new phone a few times. When it came out of sleep mode, my solid green light on the Airport Express was still there and while it took a second, I was still able to get email, connect to the net, etc.!
That would be normal operation.

Zen 6.5 NAL Object Push Mystery - Please help!

I am a totally clueless about Novell and ZenWorks and can use some help from the forum community.
We run Zen 6.5 and push down apps and icons to a large number of PCs that are used by patrons.
For many years this all worked fine. But, since a few months ago we had an incredibly tough problem.
From time to time, NAL Objects that are set to "run once" and have _not_ had their version change begin to push to the clients. For example, weeks ago we pushed a patch using a NAL object - this was set to run once and version is set to 0 and worked as expected. Yesterday, Zen started pushing the NAL objects to clients in the middle of the day (clients it had done weeks ago). There are numerous NAL objects for this patch job because we tie them to group and there are about 80 groups - many of the objects were pushed, not just one. If it were one, I would assume human error. Add to that that this has happened before with other NAL objects and I am super stumped.
Is there any thing on the client side that would make it look like it is new to Zen? What else could be causing something like this?

"Run Once" is a bit of a misnomer and does not work as most people expect.
It is really "Run Once Per User Profile on Each Machine".
It is not really run once on a give machine.
Most folks really want it to push just once to the machine.
To really make it run once per machine, you would need to include a
System Requirement that checked something the app pushed like a reg key.
You could even add your own reg key if you like.

Airport driving me mad...please help!!

I recently got a macbook and an airport to connect to the internet. Some days it works fine but some days for no apparent reason the macbook just doesn't find the airport. There are other computers connected to it and they work fine so it must be the Macbook. I've experienced the same problem at school and places where I know I should be able to find 7-8 connections usually. Some times it works again after a simple restart and some times it can take hours before it works again. Please help!
(I apologise clumsy description, I'm not a computer person at all)

There are multiple threads on the exact same topic, but anyhow, here's a possible solution that i posted in some of the others:
A guy I e-mailed with last night who had the exact same problem as I described above seems to have stumbled upon a possible solution to the problem!
He downloaded the 293 mb Combo Updater (Intel) found here: http://wsidecar.apple.com/cgi-bin/nph-reg3rdpty2.pl/product=11797&cat=1&platform =osx&method=sa/MacOSXUpdCombo10.4.8Intel.dmg
He had taken a look in /Library/Receipts and found that the previous update by Software Update was only about 9 mb big, so he tried this update and his problem disappeared!
My own airport has mysteriously started working again as well, but I installed the update just to be sure.

Airport not available on MacBook Pro 15 unibody mid 2009, PLEASE HELP!!!!

Ok, so I just recently put in a new hard drive and battery by myself, since my original MacBook Pro hard drive became "corrupted" most likely due to a parallel desktop software I was using. Anyway so I finally install everything on the new hard drive and airport is not working. The icon is NOT EVEN THERE on the menu bar. I go into Network and the only thing I've got is Ethernet and Firewall. I've tried the "+" thing, and it didn't work. I then went into "Assist Me" , then "Diagnostics" and the airport option is greyed out, so is the external modem. Oh, and the operating system is Snow Leopard OS X 10.6.3. Has a 2.8 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Processor.
I also deleted the "SystemConfiguration" Folder and found something interesting. The "com.apple.airport.preferences.plist" was never there and when I reboot, the "com.apple.network.identification.plist" also disappeared. I had to drag it back into the folder from the desktop where I put a copy just in case something weird happened, which it did.
I checked System Profiler, clicked on AirPort and it gives me stuff under "Software Versions", so I'm guessing it's acknowledging that THERE IS a card and can give me all the information for it, but I can't get the mac to use it. I reset the PRAM AND SMC and still nothin.
So, I figured it must be hardware, right? So I open the mac like i did when I installed the new hard drive and battery, and I CANNOT FIND THE DARN AIRPORT CARD. On the mid 2010 models it's with the bluetooth card at the top and I've tried looking online for ANYONE, who has tried to get to the airport card on the mid 2009 model for the MacBook Pro 15 unibody. And found nothing. I think it's in the clutch, but I'm too scared to touch that area. Does anyone else have any ideas or have I covered all my bases?
I REALLY DO NOT want to go to Apple. I don't have AppleCare and don't have the money to have them poke around and tell me the same thing I already know. And I spent way too much on this computer to not be able to use it to full capacity. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!

After resetting my Airport Extreme, I can't get it to work! Please help!

I have an airport extreme base station (wireless n-gigabit ethernet) and awhile ago it stopped working on me. I simply reset my aebs and whenever I open airport utility and try and configure my aebs, it tells me I have an error and can't connect to the aebs. I have comcast internet service and my aebs is connected to my router. It's been working successfully for about a couple months and now it's stopped working. : (
I've tried this both in manual setup and the regular setup. I've gone through the trouble of doing a hard reset (pressing the reset button until it flashes amber), I've unplugged the power while holding the reset button, connecting my laptop with the aebs via ethernet, making sure everything is updated (and it is), resetting the router, and even reinstalled my airport utility disk.
Please help! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I also tried setting up my aebs on my neighbor's internet and it worked like a charm! Setting up aebs was as easy as when it first worked. Now if only I can get it to work on my internet...

Please help me if i should get an airport for my situation or not?

      i have a modem thats connected to a pc (i cant move it anywhere) on the first floor and a wireless adapter thats connected to another pc on the lower floor. we all depend on that one modem thats on the first floor so to let the pc on the lower floor to connect to the wifi, we got a router. (everything is all good) but if i get an imac and place it on the first floor which is closer to the modem will it connect to the wifi normally like any laptop or iphone? or should i get an airport or maybe a wireless adapter so it connects to the wifi?
       PLEASE HELP IM GETTING AN IMAC SOON AND I HAVE TO KNOW!

Yes.
You don't have to get an AirPort Base Station, but I learned the hard way that they work better than cheaper alternatives, especially in a mixed Mac / Windows / iOS device environment. They're also very secure from malicous outside intrusion, which has recently become a serious problem for people using Linksys routers.
You will need to configure it with an iMac or an iPhone, not with the Windows PC, so get the iMac first.

AirPort Disk works on Vista but is ULTRA SLOW on MacBook Pro...please help.

I can copy files using Window's Vista at about 7MBps so it takes around 2min 40secs to copy a previously bought 1.3GB iTunes TV show from the AirPort Disk (connected via USB 2.0)to my Vista machine. I understand this is a reasonable speed, if you think it should go faster let me know. When I try to play it with iTunes directly from the Airport Disk(by control clicking it and telling it to play with iTunes, not sure this is the best way, advice appreciated) it plays okay but I get a fair amount of stutters where it will skip a 1-4 seconds. Any way to fix this? Or should I just download it to my computer and play it from there. I was trying to save space and confusion on my computers and just play via the Airport Extreme Disk.
NOW THE WEIRD STUFF! It takes 4 hours to download the same TV file mentioned above from the Airport Disk to my MacBook Pro! And to stream the movie from the Airport Disk is impossible. Can anyone offer suggestions? I searched online and could not find any help.
Additional Info that might be helpful:
-AirPort Extreme 340ll/a, Version 7.5(I assume that's the firmware version).
-I erased with 0s and formatted an external 7200RPM 8MB Western Digital drive to "Mac OS Extended Journaled" via my MacBook Pro's USB port, using Disk Utility.
-My wi-fi connections seems fine: for web surfing it is fast with my Macbook and Windows computers, so that's not a problem. FYI, I did some internet download speed tests and got like 15,000-20,000kbps, which is pretty good, right?
-I hooked the drive up directly to my MacBook Pro's USB 2.0 port and copied the same HD TV show file to the computer, and Apple's "Activity Monitor" utility showed it is reading and writing at 30MBps which I understand is quite good. So it does not appear to be a hard drive problem either.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Cause of problem:
I found out that the problem was that in the "Airport Utility" under "Internet Connection" tab, the "Connection Sharing" had been set to "Off(Bridge Mode)". This stopped my MacBook Pro from accessing the AirPort Disk(an external hard drive connected to the AirPort Extreme Base Station). I still find it weird that My HP computer could access the AirPort Disk just fine and my MacBook Pro was so ultra slow(i.e. 4 hours to copy a 1.3GB file!) accessing files on the hard drive.
So, how did the default setting get changed to cause the problem to being with? I got some error pop-up box that said there were 2 NAT tables causing a conflict of some sort, so I followed it's instructions which put it in bridge mode which caused the problems. The reset of the wireless router put the "Connection Sharing" back into "Share a Public IP address" mode which is the default.
So anyway, this appears to be the end of this story, and I hope this post saves some people out there from some headaches and lost time!

Laserjet 1020 printer doesn't work through airport express. PLEASE help me

Hi everyone. I've just bought a laserjet 1020, and though I can perfectly "see" it through the airport admin utility, there is no way to have a page printed. Works perfectly when connect it to the laptop through usb though. I have already tried every iFelix solutions, changed drivers (HP 1022, etc.), bonjour for windows, manual configurations, etc. Is there something else out there that I didn't figure out? There are issues with regard to HP and Apples.
I take it that your Laserjet is plugged into the XP computer and that you are tryiny to print to it over a network.
Try this:
Go to System Preferences> click on "+" to "Add Printer", at the next page click on "More printers", this should then bring up a box with the name of your network in it. It will then show the name of your Apple and that of the PC into which the LAN cable from the router is plugged, click on this PC and the next box should throw up the name of the printer, click on this, then DON"T click on ADD but on the slot with "Generic" showing, you can then scroll down the list to Laserjet, click on that and find the "Gimp" version of the driver with your printer's model number, this is the one you should ADD.
Now this may work first time, unlikely given Apple's track record of network printing foul ups; you may have it print only a 1/4 page. If this happens, try "ADDing" a driver from higher up the Laserjet range; this is what I had to do to get my Canon iP3000 to work (I use the iP8000 driver with reasonable success)
There are also CUPS+GIMP drivers in the list; with the Canon these just printed a 1/4 page of solid black, nice for the ink manufacturers, but expensive for us!
The Gimp drivers are a third party product, 2 years out of date, and for which Apple accept no responsibility.
