Item category....Pls help!

Hi experts,
Here's the scenario, First, I'm creating a quotation no. then i will create a sales order with reference to quotation no.In doing so, I'm using a BAPI....Now the question is..how can i determine the item category? From what table should i be looking for? At first, when you create a quotation no..it has an item category..lets say ZGAM. But if im going to create a sales order, the item category is changing to something like ZREM.My only problem here is that, where should i get this ZREM value? what table?

Help on Item category group.

Hi experts,
In tab 'Sales: sales org.2 ' view of Mat master data, there are two option 'Item category group' and 'Gen. item cat. grp'.
And I know that the system uses former one to deteremine item category when we are processing sales.
But what's the latter one ''Gen. item cat. grp''? I have read the help doc. But I still very confused.

Hi James,
I will explain with an example.
Suppose if you are doing Third party processing ,you will create matl master with Gen. Item category group as 'BANS'.
If you create Sales order for this material, system automatically picks Item category as BANS. So no need to maintain while creating Sales order.
Based on Business scenarios if you assign item category in Material master for different material types, system will picks during sales order. otherwise system chooses standard Item category:TAN.
Pls check and revert back.

if in excel file one row of records means i am succesfully creating SO.
But for multiple i am not getting idea to create SO.
My excel file details like this.In this excel file based on VBKD-BSTKD_E value i have to keep the records in line items.

based on VBKD-BSTKD_E line items has to create.
if VBKD-BSTKD_E = 3011192 is like 4 records in excel means for these 4 should be one SO
if it is changed to 3011193 then only different SO.
PLs If any one knows solution pls write some sample code for me.

If u want to add Items data, u have to handle the Table control by writing the complete code.
U have to write code for 2 items, when u press enter u will get new row to enter new record one by one.

Item on the listbox cant be selected. PLS HELP.

hello! i am a newbie to ABAP development.
I followed the listbox steps stated on the RSDEMO_DROPDOWN_LISTBOX because I want to populate my listbox (I created from the screen painter) with the data from a table. It was successful and I can see the data now. Problem is when I am selecting an item of the listbox, it wont be selected. the only thing always selected is the first item on the listbox? what is happening? I do not understand. PLS HELP.

THIS IS A FOLLOW UP QUESTION.
I have listbox DD1 and I populated that with SPFLI-CITYFROM data. I used SELECT DISTINCT statement so that it will not repeat same entry on my list box. It was successful but then on the 2nd time and on the succeeding times you click on the listbox (trying to select other item), the listbox shows all the city entries from the SPFLI-CITYFROM. The SELECT DISTINCT takes effect only at first because as I have said on the 2nd and succeeding times you click the listbox, it will show you all entries of SPFLI-CITYFROM. why is that? i dont understand.

Sending multiple email for free goods item category??

Hi,
we have requirement to send email (Z report in smartforms) automatically when sale order save in tcode VA01/VA02.
we made reqd config in tcode NACE and we set access sequence on ORDER TYPE and it's working fine. but the problem is that when order booked for item category free goods it sends multiple emails. (i.e. no. of line items = no. of email) for one order no. All other item category is working fine. only problem with the free goods.
I am an abaper. all config are made with the consent of SD consultant.

If you are an ABAPer, then it sounds like you simply need to debug the processing to identify where/why the fault occurs. As for the NACE settings, you should understand the config as well as your functional counterpart. It will make you a better developer and help you understand the processing code.

Creating Sales Order- Item Category TAN is not defined.

Hello all,
I am working on Creating sales order for Global Bike Inc case. But when I enter the material and quantity number and click check mark it says "Item category TAN is not defined". Can some body help me how can we define TAN or why it is giving me that error.

As your question is already answered. An indicator that defines the characteristics of a document item.
For example, the item category controls the type and scope of:
Pricing
Billing
Delivery
Inventory posting
Transfer of requirements
Providing further deatils ;--
01. How item category is determined :--
Depending on the item category group that you apply & the sales doc type you are processing the system automatically proposes an item category in the document.
1.sales document type (source: order type)
2.item category group (source: material master)
3.item category of the higher-level item (source: user defined)
4.item category usage (The usage is defined by SAP and is hard coded in the programs)
SPRO- IMG- SD- Sales- Sales Document- Sales Document Item- Assign Item Category (VOV4)

a service line can be never saved WITHOUT the account assignment details (except acc. ***. category U in in the PO item).
In case the table ESLL will have entry but the accounting tables eskl has got no entry or has entries with deletion flag, it would be an inconsistent situation.
You can set on the screen SAPLMLSK 0200 the deletion flag (ESKL-LOEKZ) for your service account assignment, but without entering a new account assignment information the system would not allow you to leave this screen. When you set the deletion flag for service line in the account assignment detail screen, you must enter right afterwards a new account assignment information in order to leave the screen without the error message 06 408.

BOM with Item Category T

Hi friends,
The issue my user is having is that he has created a subcontracting PO ...and later while issuing thro MB1b 541... the system throws an error... PO HAS NO ITEMS..
But PO has a BOM exploded ...when i check it has item category T instead of an L... By the time i could check CS03, the user has deleted the BOM .,so i suggested to create a new one with item category L...The issue got resolved.
But my doubt is how this item category T has appeared in the BOM, since when i try creating a BOM with T i cannot enter matl code but my BOM which had popped in the PO had all details with matl code, desc , qty and item category as T..
Pls kindly advise and help me understand..

When creating your material BOM with Item category T, do not enter the material number.
Only enter decripiton qty. and uom. This should allow you to create the BOM. You would then see this BOM in your Sub-Contract PO. I don't think it was possible you saw the material item in the BOM from your original T category items, as this would not be allowed per standard functionality, as you noted when trying to recreate the incorrect BOM.

How to setup Pricing Qualifier based on Item Category

I want to create a qualifier based on the item category value. The category has 3 segments and i want to create a qualifier on one of the segments.

As of now, when an item is entered in the calling applicaiton ( Sales Order in case of Order Management), in attribute management an API is called to determine the Item Category it belongs to. You need to go one step further to identify the category segment it belongs to ( write a custom sourcing API).
On the qualifier setup side, you need to create a new qualifier attribute and the value set of this attribute should build the LOV from the values of the category segment.

Item category determination in Lead

Hi,
I have created a Lead transaction type and done the Item category determination using the transaction type, Item category group and the Item category . Now when I am assigning the product to the lead transaction the Item category is not getting determined. The Item category group is already assigned to the Product .Am I missing out something . Pls help me out in solving the problem.

1. check whether item category group is assinged to your product.(Select from F4)
2. Define item category by copying the standard one.
3. Determine the itemcatagory
Transaction type+Item category group= Item category
This also you do by copying the respective standard item category determination line.

Hi gurus,
Can anyone pls. help me identify the appropriate item category group for the free goods in CRM only (i.e. no R/3 integ)? The current item category group of these products is set at NORM but we may need to change it to TANN because of an ABAP runtime error. I just don't know how to include it (TANN) in the list of values in the Item Cat. Group field in COMMPR01. Hope you can help me.

Item Cat. Group : NORM
Item Cat. Usage :
Main item cat. :
Item Category   : ZDB
Transaction Typ : ZDBT

Main item cat. : ZDB
Item Category   : TANN
What I understand is that you wish to do free goods determination.I.e. For 1 Case = 1 Free item
For that we have other pre-requisites like:
Free good determination settings:
1. SPRO->Customer Relationship Management->Basic Functions->Set Up Free Goods->Assign Procedure
2. SAP menu->Master DataPrices and Conditions->/SAPCND/GCM - Maintain Conditions
Condition type: 0NA0
Procedure: 0NA001

CMS_PRODUCT_SALES_READ_BL
Input for Product ID: IV_PRODUCT_ID (It takes value of Product ID)
Output for item category group:
CRMT_PRODUCT_SALES_API_EXP-ITEM_CAT_GROUP

Change Partners for item category - TAB

Hi All,
Why it is not possible to have different ship-to-party at item level for TAB orders.
For item category TAB, the partner functions is maintained as "T" which is "No item Partner". Can you help me understand why SAP has maintained like this.

TAB item category is used for Make to Order senario, thats why its do not have Multiple Ship to party or Partner determination for Item category..
2nd Make to Order is a Order contaning Customer Specific requirements like ur preparing a proto type for customer requirement (Like new development).So they break down the sales order into diff -diff parts U know (we call it BOM) & we get the delivery date s & quanties for that Make to order from Production Order because here Sub items are related to main item like...
Computer ordered with entena....
In make to order system brekdown the req.into...
1Monitor
2 CPU
3. entena
4.TV card etc...But all these belongs to 1 single material (even though they are also a individual material)
thats why we dont have a provision of partner function for item category TAB....
I hope i am able to explain u.......Pls. ask me if nathing is not clear to you......
NOTE: You can always have a diff. Ship to Party at Header level.......
