Item description mixed up

hi
i have a strange problem. i see that there are two items which have their descriptions mixed up. the description comes up correctly on the sales order. however, they are interchanged on the delivery screen. it is interchanged in the picklist as well. why would this be?
i tried to delete the item but that is not possible either. i have closed all the open transactions as well. is there no way to delete an item even if it has all transactions closed?

Hello Prem,
A change in the Item Master description does not affect the document once they are created.
When you create the Sales Order..the description existing at that time is taken from the Item Master and stored in the dscription field on the Sales Order lines...the same will get copied to the delivery when you copy the Sales Order to Delivery..
the Delivery does not pick any updated information from the Item Master.
NOTE: It is always possible to change the description in the marketing document. When you change the name in the marketing document and PRESS CTRL+Tab...what you have changed is what will be in that document which could be completely different than the Master.

Wildcard Search requirement for Items description and BP Name

Hi Friends,
I want to know is there any feature in Item Master data or Business Partner Master Data in which search is done by putting middle or last name. For example the Item Name is Electric Motar 345 Gear
and when the user wants to search it by say Motar 345 then all items which inclused Motar 345 should come highlighted.
Same for BP also its required as BP name is Glem Tex Japan Pvt Limited and now user wants to search the BP by say Tex Japan and all BP which includes the word Tex Japan should come.
Is there any possibilities by which this can be achieved. Its somewhat wildcard search required. I heared its possible in B1.

I have exactly put the same as 'Motar 345 after Opening the Item Master Data and in find mode pressed * Enter and put the above in Find and selected Item Description. But sorry to say that nothing is coming and the cursor goes in the last item master data.
What might be the problem can you please tell me.

Carriage return in feed item description?

As the title says, is it possible to use carriage returns in a podcast feed item description? I'd like my description to list the show topics... something like:
Show topics:
1. Topic 1
2. Topic 2
Possible? I'm currently using Podcast Maker to generate my feeds. Does that make it any easier or more difficult?

You can just put a newline character inside the description field and iTunes will show the newline in the Podcast Information Panel (click the "i" button for the episode to see this panel).
You shouldn't just put a tag in there though. If you want to put any kind of html tag in the description field, you must either escape them with a < and > tags or
with a <![CDATA[ ]]>.
So some field results I found out through experimentation with iTunes:
First what works:
- Newline characters work.
- works.
- <![CDATA[line 1 line 2]]> works too.
What doesn't work:
- 
- and its escaped forms such as 
I'm not sure how other podcast clients will treat the newline character though.

Item Description not popping for some items in Sales Order

Hello Experts,
We have upgraded ourselves to SAP B1 8.82 PL01. When posting the Sales Order, for some of the Items, the Item Description and other details which come automatically once the item code is selected are not displaying.
We have tested by creating a dummy item (this creation, I have opened an item for which details are not displayed, duplicated the item, and gave a new code). When I used this test item code, all the details are popping up.
Can anyone throw some light on where I could have gone wrong.

I think you must have to perform Data Checkup in SAP.
For doing so please do this......
Go to Administration> System Initialization> General Setting> Services> Tick on Perform data Check. Then relogin in SAP again and once process done please check this in Sales Order........

Is it possible to add item description in the Alert screen in sap b1

Please see the attachment for the alert screen that gets generated every time an item stock goes beyond the minimum or maximum level. In this screen is it possible to show the item number AND the item description so that the alert is easily understandable? (instead of drilling down into the item code to see each item which is what we are doing now)

Item description not filling in Sales and Purchase module screen

i am here with a problem, while selecting the item code in the Grid of Purchase and Sales module related screens like Sales order, Purchase order etc, the item description is not getting field, though i tried to select the item from the item Description column.

Is your problem Solved then Please close Thread by Making Correct and helpful Answer.
If your Problem is not Solved then Please check your default Warehouse in General Setting >>> Inventory Tab.
I think Default Warehouse is not present in Item Master Data Inventory Tab.
Try to Update Default Warehouse in General Setting >>>> Inventory Tab. You need to make Default Warehouse which is present in All Item Master Data >>>> Inventory Tab.

Item description not getting updated when material description is changed

Hi,
In a contract, line item description gets copied from material master. However, when material master is updated line item description does not get updated in a transaction. Is there a way to update this?

Line item description is not changed as when you enter the material in order and save, description is saved in table CRMD_ORDERADM_I along with other details. now if you change the material master description it is pretty obvious that CRMD_ORDERADM_I contents will not automatiically change. if you enter the same material again in order as new line item system will read from material master whereas for existing line items will be read from CRMD_ORDERADM_I . you can change the description using FM CRM_ORDERADM_I_MAINTAIN_OW

How to get the special symbols in item description in purchase requisition

hi,
My client requiremnt is when i write some special character like(u221E,u03B2) in ms-word and copy the text & paste in purchase requisition screen in item description field ,the special character appear has Square box(instead of u221E,u03B2).

Speak to the Basis guys, you need the necessary code pages (I think they're called). I'm still not sure if you can copy and paste from Word but the Basis guys may know. Depends on standards used by SAP v MS (SAP tend to be good at following standards).
You also need to consider the knock on effect on programs e.g. reports that output text may need conversion to work with special characters.
It's not a quick fix type job.

How to make an EditText with CFL act like a system "Item Description" ?

I have added an EditText with a CFL linked to "lf_items".
I want the EditText to act like a system "Item Description" EditText, so that when
the user enters a value and presses on CTRL+TAB in it, a CFL event will not be triggered and the focus will simply be transfered to the next item.
Does anybody know how to do that ?

In sap's marketing document one can enter a free description to
the "Item Description" column by using CTRL + TAB .
I needed to build a similar solution.
The answer I found was to:
Track a CTRL+ TAB press,
Read the value the user entered from the EditText.Value
Totally stop the CFL event
Do oMatrix.FlushToDataSource()
Write the value to the DBDataSource of the user table
Do oMatrix.LoadFromDataSource()
Allow the CFL event to run as usual.

Web Apps using Item Description in Google Maps Mouseover

Does anyone know if there is a way to use alternative fields from the web app to display in the pop up on the google map when you are plotting web app items on a google map from the list view? I seem to be only getting the option to display the address (which comes from the standard address fields) and the Item Description. I want to use alternative fields (ie a summary field) as the Item Description copy is too long.
This is the pop up I mean. The top line is the Item Name, the address is coming from the standard item address fields, and then the view property link is what we have placed in the description field. We would like to change what we use the item description field for and therefore use another field for this map.

Set item description (column 3) in matrix problem

Hello there,
I try to set field Dscription (column "3") in either Quotations or SalesOrders.
But B1 keeps popping up with Item picker list.
This is normal behaviour when you change this field and leave (without pressing CTRL), but how can I workaround this in SDK?

Display item description when manually entering a journal

Is it possible to display the item description when users enter and/or display a manual journal?
(it already has been discussed on this forum that one cannot display the item description easily in the master data list, I assume that my query will be the same, hopefully someone will tell us how to do it)

The item descriptions are included in the manual documents in release 6.0 (we have also enhancement package 3).
This is set in the dcoument type configuration in the tab labeled "document field options" in column "Name".

EGO Item Description creation substr

using EGO in 11i or R12.0.4 with item description function based. someone told me, that there exists a configuration page where you can define e.g. "from 3rd to 5th" of the Description of Attribute1 and "from 7th to 8th" of Attribute2.
Now the question : Is substr in plsql function the only way to do this ?

I have similar needs. I'm trying to automate DVD production from a web site. The site generates a unique order for a list of video clips. That list needs to drive the creation of menus to access each clip, and needs to drive addition of those particular video tracks to the DVD, link and burn.
I know that DVD Studio Pro can import XML files for each item; menus and video tracks, however there's a paradox in that the process breaks links for any items not already imported. This means that previous/next links will be alternately broken every time.
I'm trying to figure out why DVDSP cannot import more than one item description at a time. When I look at the XML file, it certainly looks like it could include multiple items, but I get errors when I try to assemble two exported items into a single item for import.

There are two things you can do to minimize your problem.
1. Go to the iTunes View menu and select "Use full window for iTunes Store".
2. Hover your mouse pointer over the item's description long enough to bring up the full description.
