Iteration Tag Library and Page Context

          When I update a class members in PageContext scope it does not get reflected in
          the loop in tag library. It keeps the original value.
          I am using WebLogic Server 6.1 SP1

java.lang.NullPointerException at
oracle.jsp.parse.JspDirectiveTaglib.validateAttributes(JspDirectiveTaglib.java:183)
at oracle.jsp.parse.JspParseTagDirective.validateTagAttributes(JspParseTagDirective.java:180)That NullPointerException does not sound right. What is your oc4j version?
By the way, your declaration of taglib in web.xml can be deleted if you are not using that taglib-uri "/kw" in your jsp.

  • JavaBeans and Tags in JSP pages

    I have a java package and some code that already works but I need to "Webify" it. I have heard the words Tag Libraries and Beans to use with JSP pages instead of writing out the java code in the page. I have read the tutorial on Tag Libraries and it still makes no sense. I need some kind of beginners guide and instruction. I already have the java in the .jar file and have Tomcat setup. I know I need to make a tag library and stuff, but beyond that I'm a bit lost. I'm just not sure where to put what. Also, I did do a practice JSP page but it won't automatically find the jar file - they are in the WEB-INF/lib directory. I actually have to set the CLASSPATH separately by doing export CLASSPATH=.... which I know can't be right - is there a way to do this in the actual JSP program itself - like set the classpath just for that webpage?

    Here's a good basic tutorial that helped me when I was getting started with tags:

  • Paging using page tag Library

    My JSP is using page tag Library. When I click the Next page it returns next page. How can I change my JSP using page tag so that when the next/previous link is clicked, I should see the next/previous 10 records and so on.
    Thanks in advance

    Unfortunately my mind reading powers are not working so well right now.
    Which page tag library are you using? There are several.
    I would suggest that you look at the documentation for that library.
    Unless you show us what the code you are currently using is, we can't suggest changes.
    Oh, and please don't just copy paste your whole JSP here. A relevant excerpt of how you are using the tag library and how you create the links should be more than enough. And please use code tags.

  • How can i use tag library in the mvc?

    hello
    in some tag libraris such as jakarta tag library and jrun tag library,there is database
    access tag, it provide convenient function to access database from jsp page,but i wonder how can i use such a tag within MVC architecture.
    as we know,in MVC architecture,all requests from the jsp pages are submit to the controller servlet,then the controller manipulate ejb to access database,it don't allow the database access from the jsp page.
    who can tell me how can i combine the tag library with mvc architecture appropriately?
    thank you!

    You can't! If you decide to limit the JSP to be part of the View component, obviously you should not include tags that directly access the database. If the strict MVC architecture is less important to you, then the tags can save coding time. It's your choice.

  • How to use a tag library in multiple web applications?

    Morning all,
    Environment: Tomcat 5 on Apache2 using Mod_JK connector on Windows XP
    I have developed a custom tag library and tested it out and its working great.
    Now, How do I use in my other web applications? Do I need to copy the JAR file to webapps\app1\WEB-INF\lib, webapps\app2\WEB-INF\lib etc directories?
    The problem with this approach is, if I happen to change the tag library code, I will have to make sure that I remember to copy the new JAR file to the above mentioned directories. Ofcourse I can write a simple ant script that would do it for me, but I was wondering if there was an efficient and yet simple way of achieving the same.
    Thanks in advance,
    Joe

    Thanks Vidyut! You've answered my question.
    I placed the jar file in the $CATALINA_HOME/shared/lib directory. But where should I place the taglib TLD file? And how should I reference it in web.xml?

    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-1"?>

  • Tag Library for Declarative Component

    Hi
    Using JDev 11gR1. I'm new to tag libraries and have the following question...
    How do I deploy a JAR file with a declaritive component as a JSP tag Library? I have created a new project, created a new tag library in the project (.tld file) and created a reusable toolbar in the project. How do I include the tags and attributes of the declarative component in the .tld file? Do I just edit the file or have I missed some steps which would have done this.
    When creating the new declarative component I did us the "Add Tag Library..." button to specify the tag library in the project.
    All declaritive component examples / tutorials / blogs / ADF dev guide, I find just tell you to deploy the jar file as a tag library and include it in the project to use it, but I can't find anything telling you how to deploy it as a tag library. Any help or references to examples will be great.
    Thanks
    Mario

    Shay, thanks for the reply.
    I started off following Grant's article which you referred me to, but ran into the problem I'm having now. Just tried it again and still no luck.
    I created a declarative component in a new project, setup the deployment profile to deploy to an ADF Library JAR and deployed it. Then I add the directory for the JAR to my Resource palette and add the JAR to the project which will be using it.
    But that's as far as I get, still nothing shows in my Component Palette.
    That's when I started on the wild goose chase of the TLD file. I looked at Andrejus' blog posting, [http://andrejusb.blogspot.com/2009/10/custom-declarative-components-in-adf.html| [http://andrejusb.blogspot.com/2009/10/custom-declarative-components-in-adf.html|http://andrejusb.blogspot.com/2009/10/custom-declarative-components-in-adf.html]] and the source and realised he has a tld file inside his generated JAR. Which lead to my question as to when this get's generated / defined?
    Any ideas what I could try to get my Components to display in the Component Palette?
    Thanks,
    Mario

  • Using Display tag library - sorting and Paging

    I have generated a grid using this tag library which has number of in built features. Out of which on is grid sorting and pagination. But this sorts the grid in one page only, not complete grid. Does any one have solution for this? I am trying to get the source code which does this. If any one has solution then please help me..
    Thanks!

    In this case you have to do external sorting insted of defalutsorting provided by dispaly Tag Library. find sample code for External Sorting.
    Follow the Steps:
    <display:table name="testList" {color:#ff0000}sort="external"{color} defaultsort="1" id="empTable">
    <display:column property="id" title="ID" sortable="true" {color:#ff0000}sortName="id"{color} />
    <display:column property="firstName" sortable="true" title="First Name" />
    <display:column property="lastName" sortable="true" title="Last Name" />
    <display:column property="address" sortable="true" title="Email Address"/>
    </display:table>
    To determine the request parameter name for column(like ID) sorting you can do :
    String studenid = request.getParameter((new ParamEncoder("empTable")).encodeParameterName(TableTagParameters.PARAMETER_SORT))
    fire a query in DAO Class using request parameter to get sorted list and map a resultset to table.

    I'm currently trying to achieve pagination using the pager tag library provided by jsptags.com.
    Instead of the usual breaking up the records into a fix number to be displayed per page, I need to display these records by grouping per page. E.g., my records are grouped by countries, so each group varies in size.
    I would not be accessing the database directly from the JSP page, in fact, the JSP page will get a collection of the objects that I want to display per page.
    Has anyone done anything like this before? Would appreciate very much if you could share with me how you implement this.
    Thanks!

  • Help with Pager Tag Library

    I am developing a photo website with the JSP Pager Tag Library (http://jsptags.com/tags/navigation/pager/index.jsp). I have installed it and am using it successfully.
    I have one question.
    I have a page called view_fotos.jsp. This page has the pager tag to display the photos in a series of pages. view_fotos.jsp can accept a variety of parameters.
    For example:
    view_fotos.jsp?groupnum=10
    view_fotos.jsp?groupnum=10&user=john
    view_fotos.jsp?user=john&mode=view
    Now, I would like to add the QueryString to all the indexed page links.
    i.e. The page links should become...
    view_fotos.jsp?groupnum=10&pager.offset=0
    view_fotos.jsp?groupnum=10&pager.offset=6
    view_fotos.jsp?groupnum=10&pager.offset=12
    or
    view_fotos.jsp?groupnum=10&user=john&pager.offset=0
    view_fotos.jsp?groupnum=10&user=john&pager.offset=6
    view_fotos.jsp?groupnum=10&user=john&pager.offset=12
    depending on the request's QueryString. Can anyone please let me know how can I accomplish that?
    Thanks for your kind help!
    Regards,
    Joe

    Take a look at the docs on the pg:param tag. Those parameters will make it on the end of your URL. You might also have to export the offset variable in the pg:pager tag so that you can use it later with <%=offset%> but I think if you set the max items per page part of pg:pager to 6, it will do the offset stuff for you. The docs for the pager tag library should have more info though. That's found at http://jsptags.com/tags/navigation/pager/index.jsp along with the download.
