Its not a really java question (its a bat file question)
hi all,
I created one bat file like below
start java.exe -mx50m -classpath ".\SerialConnection.jar" spc.SerialConnection.SECSConnection
its working
but I would like to want if I open the bat file I want to disappear the dos window..
if anyone knows please send the solution
thanks
Does :
java -mx50m -classpath ".\SerialConnection.jar"
spc.SerialConnection.SECSConnection &
work ?No because that's Unix shell syntax which does not work in Windows.

Pass return code from Java application to a .bat file.
I have a .bat file which will execute a Java application. I want to pass the return code from the java application to the ".bat" file.
Could you please let me know, how can I accomplish this.I tried that, but it doesn't return the value...
In my Java app, I had System.exit(returnCode) and in the '.bat' file
I have
@echo off
java <myApp>
set returnCd=%?%
echo %returnCd
and it didn't return any value. What should I specify in set returnCd=%?% instead of ? -

Because I have to launch my Java App through a batch file, I don't know if I can create a new java class to execute this bat file to launch my Java App? Is that gonna work?
Henry.Yes I created a batch file and tested. If I execute my batch file, the java app will be lauched as expected.
Here is my java class that execute my batch file
import java.io.*;
public class LaunchTest {
public static void main(String args[])
String cmd[] = new String[3];
try
String osName = System.getProperty("os.name" );
//System will detect current operating system
if( osName.equals( "Windows NT" ) || osName.equals( "Windows 2000" ) )
cmd[0] = "cmd.exe" ;
cmd[1] = "/C";
cmd[2] = "c:\\Run.bat"; //Run.bat will set classpath and launch my java app
else if( osName.equals( "Windows 95" ) || osName.equals( "Windows 98" ) )
cmd[0] = "command.exe" ;
cmd[1] = "/C";
cmd[2] = "c:\\Run.bat";//Run.bat will set classpath and launch my java app
Runtime rt = Runtime.getRuntime();
//running the commands
Process proc = rt.exec(cmd);
// any error message?
StreamGobbler errorGobbler = new
StreamGobbler(proc.getErrorStream(), "ERROR");
// kick them off
errorGobbler.start();
// any error???
int exitVal = proc.waitFor();
catch (Throwable t)
t.printStackTrace();
System.out.println("error...");
And here is my batch file
@echo off
set path=e:\jbuilder4\jdk1.3\bin
set classpath=E:\JBuilder4\jdom-b7\jdom-b7\build\jdom.jar;E:\JBuilder4\jdom-b7\jdom-b7\lib\xerces.jar;.
d:
cd AutoTest\classes
java FirmwareTestPack.FirmwareMainClass
exit
When I run the java class above, Dos prompt popped up for a second then disappeared. It did not launch my Firmware pplication.
Thank you. -

This is not a very java question
hi, I was implementing the bresenham algorithm taking a look at this link:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bresenham%27s_line_algorithm
But I don't understand this lines:
if (2 * error >= deltax) {
y = y + ystep
error = error - deltax
}why it compares and decrements error with deltax??Do you understand how the first piece of pseudocode given on Wikipedia works? Because from that point, it's fairly trivial. The parameter 'error' in the third example is equal to 'error * deltax' in the first example.

Bat files from java application..its urgent pls help me
hi
My java application tries to execute the bat file, the code followes
Runtime runs = Runtime.getRuntime();
runs.exec("e:/customisation/test.bat");
The bat file contains commands to copy files from one folder to another
and some dos commands, but the commands are not executing. If i tried the bat file with some exe's like notepad its working well, but not working with dos commands.
thanks in advance
nisamHi
Your batch file will be working actually. But no output will be seen in the console window.
For example I had created a batch file with the folowing code
echo This is test
copy test.bat test1.bat
pause
Even though I can't see the messages in the console, it executed when called using
Runtime runs = Runtime.getRuntime();
runs.exec("hi.bat");
where hi.bat contains the above code.
If you want to see the output messages also in the console, you have to redirect the outputstream to the current console. One such class this does is available somewhere in Java(I don't exactly remember :-( ). I think it is StreamPluginThread.java

Thanks, the write-up was informative, But it do not answer for my question, that is where to look for serial # on my Macbook Pro Mid 2010 White Unibody Core 2 Duo 2.4 GHz 13.3"? Its not on bottom-case and the above article does not mention this model?
Click on the Apple and then on about this Mac. In the new window, click on the "version 10.9.2" until you see the serial number displayed.

I recently forgot the password for my iTunes UK account with 100 pounds of credit. I called apple and said no one could help me if I did not know the security questions. Really? This company that pretty much can do anything is not able to tell me what the password is?
Any help i appreciated!!!! what doe aApple do with all the unclaimed money from lost or forgotten accounts?
JeffreyFor a forgotten password: go to http://iforgot.apple.com and sign in with your iCloud login. A new password will be sent to your associated email address. If this doesn't work you will have to contact Support. Go to https://getsupport.apple.com; click' See all products and services', then 'More Products and Services, then 'Apple ID', then 'Other Apple ID Topics' then 'Lost or forgotten Apple ID password'.
For forgotten security questions log in at http://appleid.apple.com and click 'Password and Security' in the sidebar. There should be a link in the Security Questions section to send the answers to an email you have specified. Failing this, go to https://getsupport.apple.com click 'See all products and services', then 'More Products and Services, then 'Apple ID', then 'Other Apple ID Topics' then 'Forgotten Apple ID security questions'. -
Why is my audio recording that has been burnt to CD-R not playing on other audio equipment - its says no file or cant play.
What is the correct steps for burning the CD. I followed the help guide and done excatly what is said.
Can someone please help?
Thnks.did you burn it as a CD for audio CD players....or as a data disk? big difference.
Also could be the media type (seen that issue endless times)....... try a diff. CD media. There are countless burn layers and CD blank media, no player or burner on earth can read or write to them all.
burn another blank CD to make sure it wasn't a bad CD,.......reject ratio on bad CD and DVD is about 5-15% depending on type.
Ive burned enough reject DVD and CD to fill a house -

Microsoft Office Update Log -- Really quick question!
Hey,
I have an log file entitled, "MAU 1.1.2 Update Log" in my root hard drive folder.
Probably a dumb question, but can I delete that log safely, it just looks stupid sitting there not serving really any purpose right? Like it's only 16 KB but still, I just wanna get rid of it.
Should I be alright to delete it? It's just a log file.Yup!
The number leeds me to believe its from an old update. If you haven't done so you should download and install the 11.3.4 Office 2004 patch.

How To Ask Questions The Smart Way
Eric Steven Raymond
Rick Moen
Write in clear, grammatical, correctly-spelled language
We've found by experience that people who are careless and sloppy writers are usually also careless and sloppy at thinking and coding (often enough to bet on, anyway). Answering questions for careless and sloppy thinkers is not rewarding; we'd rather spend our time elsewhere.
So expressing your question clearly and well is important. If you can't be bothered to do that, we can't be bothered to pay attention. Spend the extra effort to polish your language. It doesn't have to be stiff or formal - in fact, hacker culture values informal, slangy and humorous language used with precision. But it has to be precise; there has to be some indication that you're thinking and paying attention.
Spell, punctuate, and capitalize correctly. Don't confuse "its" with "it's", "loose" with "lose", or "discrete" with "discreet". Don't TYPE IN ALL CAPS; this is read as shouting and considered rude. (All-smalls is only slightly less annoying, as it's difficult to read. Alan Cox can get away with it, but you can't.)
More generally, if you write like a semi-literate b o o b you will very likely be ignored. So don't use instant-messaging shortcuts. Spelling "you" as "u" makes you look like a semi-literate b o o b to save two entire keystrokes. -
Could not initialize the Java Virtual Machine
While trying to configure the turnkey product I encounter an error in starting the JBoss for Adobe LiveCycle ES v8.0 service. The JBossService.exe ends up showing in the task list - but the service shows its status as "starting" and an enty stating: "Could not initialize the Java Virtual Machine" is placed in the event log. I've seen a posting on this form that traced at least some of these symptoms to the account under which the service is configured to run - but I don't believe that solution applies in this case - I'm starting the service under the System Account which has all the permissions it needs to start the service.
Thanks very much for the suggestion. Indeed, the problem turned out to be memory related - I was able to correct the issue by updating the registry keys "JVM Option Number 4" and "JVM Option Number 5" so specify lower values. For some reason the system didn't like the 1024 meg size that was set by default (our server has 2 gig of memory).
