ITunes 10.6.1.7 not saving number of plays

After playing songs, closing iTunes and then re-opening iTunes, the number of "Plays" does not appear to be saved from the most current usage.

I think the greyed out playlists must be listed from your device which is set up to mirror your library. Because the device is synced you can't edit content directly on the device. From the top of the left-hand column do you have?
Library > Music, Movies...
Store > iTunes Store, iTunes Match...
Devices > <Your Device> > Music, Movies, and all the other "dummy" lists...
Genius > Genius, Genius Mixes...
Playlists > iTunes DJ, and then all your playlist folders and playlists...
If so then that is perfectly normal when your device is connected, either directly or over wi-fi and you have the lists expanded. Simply click the small triangle to the left of the device name to hide all the playlists.

  • Itunes Producer Problems Uploading - File not saving - file does not Exist.

Can someone please help me out, this problem is killing me. I've uploaded over 200 UPC Albums using Old G3 and Elderly ITunes Producer, but apple asked me to upgrade, so new machine to me Macmini maverics 10.9.? ITunes Producer 3.1.
So I click open ITunes producer 3.1. Click on make project from Audio
Files. Name and Save the project in Music-ITunes Producer-Playlists.
Plug in my external Flash drive and import the 40 Audio files for the
project. I am using an external flash drive as I can’t get ITunes Producer to
see my internal hard disk, I do not know if this is normal??
Go through the process of saving the project to Music – ITunes Producer –
Playlists – in this case 5060101121313
I then go through name all Tracks and make sure that all Data is correct.
Then when I finally go to either save the document or send it to you I get the
    first Screen shot saying
"The Document "5060101121313" COULD NOT BE SAVED. The File does not exist".
As I say I have delivered 200 UPC’s to you with the old software and never
had any problems, I am in urgent need of making significant delivery to you so
    would appreciate you help ASAP.

  • ITunes view columns - changes are not saved

    Hello there,
When I make changes to the column size in the iTunes list view; like title, artist, album title ... it does not seem to save, regardless if I am on the iPhone list view, shared library list view, local music view, etc. When I close iTunes and open it again, it is often reset to the default settings. Where are these defaults settings defined? The default settings that it resets to, are those that came the way iTunes was first install, but how can I save these column size changes?
Thanks for all and any replies.
    - Applies to my Windows iTunes and Mac iTunes.

  • Imessage not saving number to contacts

Ok, just upgraded to IOS 5 along with a friend who also has the iphone 4. Now, when I text him, it doesn't appear with his name in my text list, or above the text messages. But when I recieve one from him it comes up with his name. And when he calls me it comes up with his name and picture like it always did. What's the problem? He's not having this  problem on his end. It's just annoying. Help!

I have exactly the same problem on my curve. None of the options suggested are on the menu. I have found a way around it - which is not ideal but works.
Try...Open text, press bb symbol, select 'show recipients' , press bb symbol again, pick 'select' option, highlight number, press bb symbol again, select 'copy', press 'ok' and then open address book, go to 'new contact', find the right field and press bb symbol agian, select 'paste', then fill in other details by hand and save. Very long-winded but haven't found a better way yet. Let me know if you do! Cheers.

  • IPod touch won't play ANY music, only skips. All music plays when FROM ipod when plugged into iTunes. No, songs are not corrupt, I was playing an album through iTunes from my iPod and for no reason iTunes froze and now I'm having issues with my iPod.

So I was playing an album from my iPod through iTunes like normal, and the album ended. I switched to iTunes view to change to a new one and it said "iPod is done syncing" (I did not choose to sync, nor did anything appear different). I tried to click on a song to play and iTunes froze. I had to restart iTunes and when I ejected my iPod (properly) the syncing sign was still turning on my iPod. As of now my iPod only skips through every song I try to play, but when I plug it into iTunes every song FROM my iPod plays perfectly.
No, I do not want to "factory reset" my iPod. No I do not wish to do anything crazy long or hard to fix this. Everything was working fine before when it decided to do this with very little effort, therefore I would like it fixed with very little effort.
I have tried resycing my iPod multiple times (every time I eject it from iTunes it appears to do so properly [iPod icon goes away] but the syncing icon still appears on my iPod).
I have almost 58 GB of music on my iPod so I'm not interested in starting from scratch. Also a good portion of my music is on a computer I don't have access to anymore so that's out of the question. Since the music seems to be uncorrupted (still plays from iPod in iTunes) I want a way to fix this iPod issue without having to erase anything.

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync all music and resync
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

    You said:

That may be necessary, It is not what you want to do/not do but what is required to resolve your problem.

  • ITunes 8.1 will now not burn/import or play anything at all.

Ok since installing the new 8.1 upgrade of iTunes I am now unable to anything at all. First of all a window popped up tp inform me that the drivers could not be found so I couldn't burn so please re-install iTunes. So I did and now not only will it not burn anything, it will not import ( it won't recognise any cd that i put into my drive at all ),it won't recognise my ipod and it won't play anything that is in my music library at all. So is there going to be a repair to this from apple at any point? I now have now way of getting anything onto my ipod at all. I have tried to re-install itunes several times since and still get nothing. It just does not do anything at all!!! Come on apple, this is serious, can someone please sort it?

try removing the iTunes, then do a fresh install and this time check the box for installing both Bonjour for Windows and Quick Time.

  • Removing songs from iTunes, that are not saved on the computer

    Hey guys.
First of all i would like to thank you for reading my post and trying to help.
Anyways, i rent an external harddrive from one of my friends, and he had a huge amount of songs, that i would like to get on my computer. Stupid as i am, i started downloading directly from the harddrive, which result in a lot of songs in my iTunes, that are not saved in the computer, and when i remove the external harddrive from my computer, all the songs cannot play. So after that, i saved them on my computer, and tried getting them into iTunes once again. This has resulted in a double of every songs. Which is quite much.. Are there any ways, that i can do a "Clean-up" and remove all the songs that are not saved on my computer or not working or something like that?
I appreciate your help. Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
If your previous library was matched on you your computer, you can retrieve your music from itunes match on your computer.
Sign in to match and add your computer. Your library will now show all the music that is in match. You should be able to download all your music back on to your computer.

  • Lion not saving settings, iTunes not working, iPhoto not repairing

having a ton of issues and not sure if it's upgrading to Lion, updating iTunes or something else causing the problem.
    When I'm logged in as the main user getting a ton of problems including;
    1)  no matter which box I check or uncheck or which windows I close before shutting down, every time I log in as my usual user it opens about 20 windows including about 6 files in Excel which I've already closed, said I wanted to delete (they were recovered), etc.  Other windows that open are firefox, settings, a video I started watching about a month ago, etc
    2)  applications are frequently crashing
    3)  nothing will synch with itunes.  I plug in the iphone, ipad or touch and it recognizes that it's there and then proceeds to do the rotating rainbow thing for ever (I've tried leaving something plugged in overnight) or until I force quite
    4)  iphoto indicates that the library needs repairing - repairing does nothing, rebuilding does nothing, repairing permissions does nothing, removing and reinstalling does nothing.
5)  most settings are not saved.  things like changing the Login Items, 'Restore Windows when quitting...' option do not save but things like file sharing options does save.
    what I've tried that didn't work;
    1) reinstalling Lion
    2) reinstalling itunes
    3) reinstalling iphoto
    4) reinstalling itunes with iphoto removed
    5) tried quitting applications with option-command-Q (they still reopened when I re logged in)
    5) also tried to manually delete the 'saved application states' but can't get to the folder (can find the library folder but it says the saved application states folder does not exist)
the only thing that works is setting up a new user and logging in there.  Most of the problems seem to go away but all my files, itunes library, etc are under my other user.
so, anyone have any ideas?  if not, is there an easy way to transfer all my files, itunes library (hopefully including playlists!), etc?
    Thanks for any help!

Sounds like something malicious or malfunctioning in your user.
What you can do is use the Grouping or other tag feature to tag all your songs in certain playlists, this will apply to the song file itself.
For instance I have music grouped like this:
    Popular 00's Medium Hits
    Popular 90's Hard Hits
Classic Rock 80's Very Hard Hits
    Blues 70's Medium Hits
So I can create Smart Playlists containing the keywords in the Grouping.
No you don't have to go through all that. Something to think about in the future when you switch machines or need to transfer to another user.
You can simply transfer your entire iTunes folder into the Music folder of the new user via the Users/Shared folder, open a copy of the
    iTunes Music Library.xml
In TextEdit or another text program with "find and replace" ability.
Change all instances of your old user name with the new one, save and relaunch iTunes, it will load this file and have the correct pathname/user to locate your files so the playlists remain intact.
Once your up on the new user, delete the infected or corrupted one, as that what it seems to be occuring.

  • ITunes not saving settings

Every time I start iTunes after a reboot, the "first-time" wizard pops up, and my settings are not saved. I have tried to unset the Application Data folder from Read-Only, and I have tried deleting both of the .prefs files. This seems to happen every time I install a new program or modify the registry in any way. How can I fix this problem?

    Any help?

  • Hi. I just got the iPhone 6, plugged into itunes and made the mistake of putting an OLD back up on my new phone resulting in losing all contacts after 2013. They are not saved on the cloud. Is there any way to go back to before I screwed up?

If you have performed a sync with the device since you restored this old backup, then don't bother looking for another backup. iTunes writes over the last backup each time you sync. If you were handling contacts in iCloud, you would find them by logging into iCloud. Or you can check settings and iCloud and see if the button it on for Contacts. Otherwise it might have been on the computer, if you had a program that syncs with iTunes and handles contacts, depending on the computer system you use. If Windows, it would be Windows Contacts or Outlook. If a Mac, there is a Mac Address book as well.

  • Why is it, all of my itunes are not saved in the cloud?

Why is it, all of my itunes are not saved in the cloud?

If you mean that you have iTunes Match and wonder why not all songs go there, this should help:
"Since there are more than 26 million songs in the iTunes Store, chances are your music is already in iCloud.  And for the few songs that aren't, iTunes uploads what it can't match ..."
    The above comes from here:

  • Yesterday I was checking my cameras with my Ipad and suddenly my Ipad went off, resetted itself, asked me to connect to my Itunes again and to restore it I lost all my data, some lf them from docts to go were not saved, why did that happen?

I lost my data, is this going to happen again? Can I. Get the documents from docs to go that I had from somewhere, I looked in my ICLOUD and they where noy saved there.

In technical support, sometimes you have to make educated guesses. I'm sorry that you were offended.
iTunes does prompt when it is going to erase a device, and the message is clear.
She said in her message that she was able to successfully sync the old ipad. This indicated to me that itunes wiping the data was not an issue, because either it had been setup at the apple store (in which case it doesn't actually wipe the ipad despite saying it will*) (*based on a single case I saw), or because the itunes media folder was migrated.
Furthermore, my solution was to tell her how to backup her ipad (by either doing it manually, or as a last resort, by deleting the corrupt backup -- that she couldn't access anyway.)
I got that last part of the instructions from the "Taking Control of your iphone" book which I found samples of when I did a google search for "corrupted backup itunes".
She marked this as a solution, so it worked for her.

  • Itunes library not saved using windows 7

I keep getting an error      "Itunes libray not saved an error (-50)" Can someone help me out. I am limited in my computer skills so it will need to be in regular english. Thanks inadvance for any help you can share.

I'm having the exact same problem, I click the iTunes icon, and it acts like it will open but then nothing happens. I left it once and after 7 minutes it finally opened. I cannot find any information on why this is happening. My library is around 45GB total, which isn't really that much.
I'm on Windows 7 x64 w/ SP1 and fully updated. Running newest version of iTunes x64. My system is an HP dv6-1134ca w/ Intel Core 2 Duo T7200, 750GB WD Scorpio Black @ 7200 and 4GB DDR2 PC6400 RAM. I have an iPhone 3GS 8GB that syncs with this PC.
Someone from Apple should assist with this issue as I did not experience this problem until I recently reinstalled my OS.

  • MP3 Encoder Import  Bitrate is not saved by ITunes

    Hi!
The importing bit rate for the MP3 Encoder is not saved by ITunes.
This is obviously a bug only present in combination with special software / hardware, since several people have already have posted this problem on this forum.
    I am running
    - ITunes 6.0.1.3
    - Windows XP Home Edition SP2
    on a
    HP Pavilion zd8000.
What I need to know is where these settings are stored, so that I can edit them directly to resolve the problem.
If this is not possible, how can I debug to find out what is going on?
I have reinstalled several times, and the system is not behaving consistently. I have played with different versions of ITunes. I have removed all ITunes entries in the registry between installations. I have succeeded in solving the problem, but it has reoccured.
    Please advice.
    Thanks in advance!

    email: [email protected]

    I solved the problem.
ITunes preferences are stored in a hidden directory here:
    C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Programdata\Apple Computer\ITunes\iTunes.pref
(Programdata might be called something else in the English version of XP, I have the Norwegian version...)
    Close ITunes.
Open this file in a text editor that can handle binary files, for example Textpad (www.textpad.com).
Remove the two lines starting with keys
    iTunes.exe:MP3 Encoder:Custom
    iTunes.exe:MP3 Encoder
Start ITunes. Set your desired import bitrate.
It should now be saved - and be picked up again next time you open your preferences.
Actually it was saved all the time, but something corrupts this file disabling ITunes from picking up the correct mp3 encoder settings. I guess the 160kb/s setting is the default showing up when no settings are present.
Hope this works for others having this problem as well!

  • ITunes not saving password

Since iTunes 9 it doesn't save the password on iPhone or pc. Please advise.

Since upgrading to OS 3.1 my iPhone 3G is prompting me for my Apple ID password a couple of times per day (pops up message to enter password for iTunes Store)even though is is saved in the Store Settings as the password saved and I've re-entered them a couple of times just incase they got scrambled or something. Seems almost like the iPhone isn't check to see if a password is there.
I did look at the article provided by Jason L, but it doesn't seem to be relevant in my case as my iTunes seems to be fine and it's just an iPhone password issue.
Note: I've been reluctant to do a full restore or anything like that, because of all the reports of people have their phones stop receiving calls etc after doing the OS 3.1 update. Thankfully that hasn't happened to me. lol... if anything my issues with losing reception and not being able to get it back seem to have been fixed since the 3.1 upgrade and I'd been having those since pre OS 3.0...
Anyway any suggestions on how to fix the issue would be greatly appreciated.
