ITunes and Audible Accounts

I'm a bit confused with these two. I lost one authorization due to a hard drive crash and now I want to reformat my drive to reinstall everything fresh so I want to deauthorized my computer before erasing so can authorize again without loosing another authorization. Went to the Advance menu and clicked on deauthorize my computer and get a message of name and password wrong, meanwhile I'm logged in to view my account on iTunes, are they separate? why should I have two different names and passwords to deauthorize? Makes no sense. Also read that Audible accounts are created for audio books, I don't have nor ever bought audio books, what is this? I never had an Audible password set in the past, only an Apple iTunes account. Can someone explain how are the two linked? and why do I need to deauthorize my computer with a separate company?
Sure I'm missing something, don't know where .

Probably better raised with Audible / Amazon - iTunes simply applies their rules for enforcing DRM on usage of Audible (.aa) files.  I don't believe, though, that authorization is applied to an iPod - you just need to be authorize your computer with a specific Audible account to be able to play audiobooks and to sync them.  If you have details of your Audible accounts then I assume you could use Store > Deauthorize Audible Account... several times and each time you get this prompt:
enter the username and password for each account until they've all been cleared.  Then reauthorize the Audible accounts corresponding to the content in your library.
I don't think that the details of your Audible accounts are available from within iTunes or in its accessible files.  You can, however, open up an Audible (.aa) file in a suitable editor (I just used TextPad to do this) and you can see your Audible username embedded near the start of the file.

  • ITunes and Audible compatibility after transfer to new computer

I've had a serious compatibility problem between iTunes and Audible eversince transferring to a new computer. This after iTunes and Audible worked seamlessly for two+ years on my old computer.
At first iTunes would not accept my Audible username/password, then after reinstalling and updating both iTunes and Audible Manager I received a "you cannot authorize any more computers for this account. You must deauthorize at least one other computer . ." error message. I've deauthorized, then authorized my computer twice in an attempt to correct whatever is causing this (two computers are automatically authorized when I've done this) but I still get the "you cannot authorize . . " error message whenever I try to import my Audible files.
I'm using an external HD (from the old computer)as my music folder location for iTunes, however Audible is downloading to my computer's HD. Can this have something to do what's going on? I've also tried disabling the firewall with no success. Have also made sure Audible and Apple are both "allowed" in Firefox's content. Any suggestions on how to resolve this?

I would try copying over the tracks from your XP computer again as the files from the first transfer may be corrupted.

My first iTune and iCloud account was set up with a work email address.  Last week, I changed my AppleID to a personal email account, but have found that on my iPhone under settings, iCloud, my account still has my work email.  How can I change this to reflect my new personal email.  I also pay to have extra storage, how is all of this working/tying together?  Please help!

You should continue to use your Apple ID for your iTunes account whatever you do in terms of iCloud syncing and mobile me.
If you would like to use the Apple ID you use for iTunes for iCloud syncing. just create an iCloud account using that Apple ID. If you do this you will need to add an iCloud mail address which can't be your mobile me address as that is already taken.
If you want to create another Apple ID for use with iCloud so that you keep your @me address from your mobile me account you can do that by migrating from mobile me to iCloud, you can do that too, your Apple ID for iCloud will then be your @me address.
If you migrate your calendars and contacts will also be migrated and continue to work in iCloud. If you create an iCloud account using the Apple ID you use for iTunes you will be given the oportunity to merge your calendars and contacts.
Whichever you choose, it would be agood idea to export your calendars and contacts for back up purposes before doing anything.

  • ITunes and Audible

I just added a second audible account to my iTunes, but when I synched my iPod, it said that not all tracks could be added because only 2 accounts are allowed.  I only have two accounts, and I have no idea how to check to see if it somehow added a third account somewhere.  How do I fix this?

Solved my issue when I realised I was logged into the Apple Store under newer of my 2 Apple IDs.  Switched and can now add new Audible purchases.  Not sure why which Apple Account I'm logged in under affects Audible purchases though — that ID is different again.

  • If i have a work ipad with a work email and a shared icloud for all employees, can i set up a second itunes and icloud account with a separate email address on the same ipad for my personal stuff?

i am a teacher and my school has given all of us a ipad to use. it is set up with my school email and a shared itunues and icloud account. they have told us we can use it for anything that can be used for education purposes. i have downloaded books and other items that i have marked up for my use. however if there is ever a problem i cant identify my applications or books if other teachers have downloaded the same apps or books as well as my documents. is there a way to set up a 2nd itunes account and icloud account so that i may use that when backing up anything that would be personalized by me so that i can find what is rightfully mine. they are ok with it but were unsure how to do this, so can anyone help me? thanks

  • Use different iTunes and iCloud accounts only for backup

    Hello Everyone,
Recently I update my iPhone 5,my wife iPhone 6 ,my wife iPad to iOS 8.3 and my MacBook Air to 10.10.3.
As part of the upgrade i purchase more space on iCloud for backuping my photo library.
I'm using the same account (iTunes and iCloud) on my Mac and my iPhone but using different one on my wife iPhone and iPad .
is there any option to use my iCloud account on my wife iPhone and iPad just for backuping purpose.
I saw that i can logged out from iCloud on her devices and logging in with my iCloud account but i'm affirmed to sync all of my personal data (contacts and so on) to her devices.
    please advice.
    Thanks,
    Marco.

    This sounds like misconfiguration issues.
For Calendars, log into each of your accounts on iCloud.com. Check the Calenders app there to ensure each of your iCloud-based calendars are properly shared between your wife and you. Remember, when you invite another person to share your calendar, that other person must accept the invitation.
For Contacts, make sure you have contacts in your account (check on your phone and on iCloud.com). On your phone, go under Settings/iCloud and make sure the toggle is on for Contacts. Again on your phone, go to Settings/Mail, Contacts, Calendars. Swipe down and make sure your default calendar is your iCloud-based calendar.
Hope this provides some insights that lead to a solution for you.

  • ITunes and Apple-account doesn't show the name of device on iOS 7.0.4

This is what I have found:
After installing iOS 7.0.4. on a few of my devices I discovered that there is something changed in the way iTunes and my Apple-account show the devicenames.
It now only shows "iPhone" on the right top in iTunes instead of the chosen devicename (in my case f.e. "iPhone 5s PJ"). My wifes iPad Mini, which is still on iOS 7.0.3., is still showing "iPad Mini Adinda" (what I entered in Settings>General>About>Name) Also when I look in iTunes in the list of my to iCloud attached devices it the same problem. It now is very difficult to determine which device is which
    iTunes version is 11.1.3.8
    Anybody more who have this?

    Reset the device:
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
If that doesn't help, tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings
If that doesn't help, restore the iPad > iTunes: Restoring iOS software

  • Can you use overlapping iTunes and iCloud accounts?

    Apple IDs are fun, yes?
    The situation:
I'm slowly upgrading two (2) Macbook Pros with Mountain Lion, and I've run into the problem of two members of the same household tied to the same Apple ID for iTunes purchases.
I've read all the tech support articles and tutorials for saving the iTunes Apple ID and then adding two (2) more Apple IDs for iOS and Mac OS X iCloud services.
I'm wondering if I can avoid juggling three (3) different Apple IDs by having some overlap.
    Here's the current setup:
    Spouse
    iPhone 4S / iOS 6
iTunes tied to Apple ID #1
    iMessage using phone #
    No iCloud setup
    Macbook Pro 13" / Lion
iTunes tied to Apple ID #1
    No Messages setup
    No iCloud setup
    Me
    iPhone 5 / iOS 6
iTunes tied to Apple ID #1
    iMessage using phone #
    No iCloud setup
Macbook Pro 15" / Mountain Lion
iTunes tied to Apple ID #1
    No Messages setup
    No iCloud setup
My question is -- since Apple ID #1 is technically my email address, can I use it for both the shared iTunes purchases and my iCloud account?
    The revised setup would be:
    Spouse
    iPhone 4S / iOS 6
iTunes tied to Apple ID #1
    iMessage using Apple ID #2
    iCloud using Apple ID #2
    Macbook Pro 13" / Lion
iTunes tied to Apple ID #1
    Messages using Apple ID #2
    iCloud using Apple ID #2
    MeiPhone 5 / iOS 6
iTunes tied to Apple ID #1
    iMessage using Apple ID #1
    iCloud using Apple ID #1
Macbook Pro 15" / Mountain Lion
iTunes tied to Apple ID #1
    Messages using Apple ID #1
    iCloud using Apple ID #1
If it's easier just to create Apple ID #2 and Apple ID #3 for iCloud and messaging stuff, let me know. I'd prefer to keep it simple, though.
    Thanks,

Yes, you can use your existing ID for both iTunes and iCloud, while your spouse uses it for iTunes and has her own ID for iCloud.
If I decide later to initialize a third (3rd) Apple ID for my own iCloud materials, how does that effect my iMessage (iOS) and Messages (OS X) history / experience?  I guess that would have other implications for any data stored in iCloud on what we've been calling Apple ID #1, wouldn't it? Beyond just the messaging components?

  • ITunes and iCloud accounts

I was excited about iCloud for storage but I'm really confused about my "stuff."  I was told when I transferred content from my 1st gen iPad I could just do it on my new iPad.  But that's turning out not true and it's really confusing.  I thought when I got the update with iCloud, ALL my content went to iCloud.  But now I'm having to download everything separate.
I also had to hook up to my iMac and do a sync with iTunes for most of my content.  It's a good thing I could do that because the rest of my apps and content I'm having to install separately.
I'm in the middle of this now and I don't mean to just rant.  My question is, do I have 2 accounts now that I have to keep up with?  One iTunes and one iCloud with different e-mails and passwords.  It seems that way because with my 1st iPad, I kept getting my e-mails randomly with purchases and updates.  Did this happen with everyone?  Should I delete one of the accounts or something to keep it more simple and organized?
Now I'm having to go to iBooks and download all my books again too.  I must be doing something wrong!
    Thanks...

    Thanks...
I think this is what happened.  I thought my old iPad was completely backed up with iTunes and the Cloud.  But I guess I didn't have iCloud backed up.  I still have to check my contacts but I know I don't have any of my photos on the new one.  That part is okay as I wanted to redo that anyway.
What happened was I took both iPads into the Apple store and they immediately swiped my old iPad.  When he went to do the iCloud part, he asked if I'd backed it up and I thought I had but guess I only did iTunes.  So he sent me home and said to just choose "purchased" and download my apps.  I'm doing my books now from iBooks, all separately.
I know this is all my fault and I really appreciate your answers/questions.
    Thanks!

  • Difference between authorization and audible account and other things

When I check my account in iTunes it says I have 4 machines out of 5 authorized to play music purchased with this account, even though I only have one laptop. I do have three different types of iPods. Are these iPods considered 'machines' that are taking up the other three of the four authorizations?? I tried deauthorizing my laptop mutliple times as described in the 'One computer using multiple iTunes Store authorizations' article, but I can only deauthorize the laptop once before I get the prompt to reauthorize my computer. Is there a way to find out just exactly what are the four machines that are on my account??
I have noticed under 'Advanced' in the iTunes menu bar there is a 'deauthorize audible account.' How is this different than 'deauthorize computer' under Store in the menu bar??
Any help on these matters is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

    Hi,
Authenticate: Prove that you are the user you tend to be, for example by checking a password of a user (=> user is authenticated)
Authorize: Give certain permission to a user, for example "not authorized to ready file xy" ("permission denied" / "not authorized")
    Regards,
    R.

  • HT5625 My iPhone has a different Apple ID than my iTunes and iCloud accounts.

Why is this?  I change my password on iTunes and through the App Store using my secret questions.  However, the password is not accepted.  What am I doing wrong?

If your iPhone has a different Apple ID, sign out of that one and sign onto the right one.
