ITunes for Mac don't recognize my Apps (copied since PC). How can I sync my iPhone with my new mac?
Hi,
i'm new with Mac, and i Have a doubt..
I read that to transfer itunes information (apps mainly) since PC to MAc, you just had to copy the itunes folder and paste it in Mac (Music)..
wel.. i did that, but then when I opened iTunes in Mac, it didn't recognize any application.. and I don't know why...
searching and exploring, I realized something...
the folder where my apps were in PC was Music/iTunes/iTunes Media/Mobile applications..
and, searching on internet, i look that all the people said that in Mac, the folder is Music/iTunes/Mobile Applications..
could be this the problem that i Have????
if I change all my apps from one side to another, could itunes recognize it??

The Apple store will move your content from your old computer to your new one.
You can call Apple Support and they will walk you through it.
You can type " move itunes library from pc to mac" into the google search bar.

How can I sync my iPhone with a new iTunes library and not loose apps?
Up until a few days ago I was syncing my iPhone with my PC notebook. Long story short, the machine crashed and I had to re-install. luckily I had a backup of all of the music from my iTunes library which is now hosted on my Mac Mini, but I didn't have a copy of my apps (why iTunes keeps these files outside of the folder I kept my library in I don't know).
Now I'm syncing music and video with my Mac Mini, but when I select that I want to sync apps I get the message that everything on the phone will be deleted.. Is there a way to back up the apps so I can add them to the library and sync them back to the phone without losing them?I had the same issue with a withdrawn app. Just copy all the .app files from the old directory to somewhere on the new machine, then drag them onto the Application menu item on the left hand side and iTunes will import them as long as you've already registered iTunes for the same account.
Job done! Worked a treat for me - including the app that wasn't available any more..... -

I have used migration assistant to get stuff over but what about my SMS, Pictures, music, etc....because when I plug in my iphone it says that its synced with another library and i have to erase all the stuff to sync with my new one....

Transfer your purchases the same way to copy all apps and bought media from the Store to your computer. Set up at least one contact and event on your computer to be able the merge your calendars and contacts after your phone got wiped during the first sync.
The rest of the data can be restored from the backup you made.

Hi, I have just purchased a Macbook, but my iphone is currently synched to my old pc. How can I now synch it with my new mac without losing all the apps/music etc on my phone? Ta
The easiest way is to copy the iTunes folder from your old PC to your MB (put it in the Music folder as a subfolder), along with the other valuable data on the old PC. Or restore it from a backup of your old PC. Then authorize iTunes on the MB to the same account you had on the PC. When you sync it will warn you that your content will be deleted, but it will be replaced with the same content from the MB. Before syncing you should also make sure there is at least one entry in iCal and Address book on the MB (assuming you sync to Outlook or equivalent on the PC) to assure that your contacts and calendar entries will move over correctly.
Al alternative that is less effective is to connect the iPhone to the MB without syncing, and choose "Transfer Purchases" from the iTunes File menu. This willl copy purchases music, videos and apps, but not ripped tracks from the iPhone to the MB. -

You must first sync the iPhone with the old Mac as you normally do, then move the entire iTunes Library from the old Mac to the new one.
An iPhone can only be synced with one computer at a time. When you first sync the iPhone with the new Mac, you will "erase and sync". This will erase the entire phone first, then sync it with the content you moved from the old Mac.

ThaschorIt has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer.
Use your backup copy to move everything to the new computer.
If for some reason you have failed to maintain a backup ( not good), then you can transfer itunes purchases from the iphone: File>Transfer Purchases
If you enter one unique contact and calendar entry on your computer, then when you first sync you should get the option to merge the data. -

Quick answer if you use iTunes' default preferences settings: Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its subfolders and files) intact to the other drive. Open iTunes and immediately hold down the Option (alt) key (shift on Windows), then guide it to the new location of the library.

You might consider itunes match for moving CDs you've copied into your itunes library if you dont have a way to use home sharing.
iTunes match is an optional service offered by apple that costs about $25 a year. It scans your music library and if it finds music that is already in apple's itunes catalog it'll automatically "unlock"/"store" these in the cloud for you.
