ITunes for Windows incompatable s/w list

Does anyone know whether there is a list of software that is incomaptable with iTunes ie causes iTunes to fail ? Just brought a white nanao (classic!) before they went out of production. My main pc installed but failed to run either iTunes 6 (cd with ipod) or iTunes 7 (download). Comes up with iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience. and whether you want to report back to MS etc. Obviously I removed the s/w, restarted the pc and tried reinstalling but gave up after 5 attempts.
However iTunes works perfectly on my back up PC. Both PC's have near identical sw apart from about 10 applications hence my question. What do I need to uninstall to install iTunes ?
Any help appreciated

Old thread, but here's what I do. In iTunes, ctrl or shift click the songs you want to copy, right click and click copy, then open your Slim and paste. I have a icon of my Slim in the Quicklaunch which I keep on the left side of my screen so all I have to do is right click on the icon and paste.

  • ITunes for Windows will not play the next song in the list

    Hello,
I cannot get iTunes to play the next song in my list (general list, not a playlist). The random icon and/or repeat icon is not blue. Every time I press the next button (two arrows to the right), it picks another song from my list, instead of the one that is directly beneath the one that is playing.
    I have iTunes version 11.0.1.12.
Has anyone have this happen before and how did you solve it? Thank you for all your replies.

  • Getting iTunes for Windows to list all the songs in an album

Since updating iTunes for Windows to 12.1.2.27  (it runs on Win 7 complete with all the latest updates on a 64 bit Intel i5 processor, when adding a folder to the Library only the first (sometimes first few) songs get listed.  If the album is played, all the songs are played.  What needs to be done to correct this.  Suspicions are that it is to do with the "get info" option that provides the same data to several "apparent album" entries when the folder is imported.

Generally setting a common Album title and Album Artist will fix split albums.
For compilations of tracks by different artists set the album artist to Various Artists and also tick Album is a compilation of songs by various artists.
For deeper problems see Grouping tracks into albums.

  • I just downloaded the latest version of itunes for Windows and now itunes crashes every time i launch it

I just downloaded the latest version of iTunes for Windows and now iTunes crashes everytime I launch it.  I have tried re-downloading and selecting Repair with no luck.  Any suggestions?

The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
If you've already tried a complete uninstall and reinstall try opening iTunes in safe mode (hold down CTRL+SHIFT as you start iTunes) then going to Edit > Preferences > Store and turning off Show iTunes in the Cloud purchases. You may find iTunes will now start normally.

  • Adding new Visualizer(s) to iTunes for Windows (Vista/7 64-bit)

I was actually kinda curious, not really a technical question, but are there ways to add other visualizers into iTunes? I ask this in particular, as I have worked with Macs before, and I fell in love with the Jelly visualizer from 10.5, and would love to have that same one running on Windows Vista. Any suggestions as to where other visualizers can be obtained, or how to port one over from Mac to PC?

That version is quite old now, though its fine if you don't have a device that requires a newer version for syncing or want to use the latest features. There are a couple of methods for using more than one iPod on a single computer. Method one which has already been described is to have two Mac or Windows user accounts which by definition would give you two completely separate libraries. Method two is to set your preferences so that either one or both iPods get updated with only certain playlists within one library. Have a look at this article and see what you think and go for whichever you feel suits your needs best: How To Use Multiple iPods with One Computer
Another option when using a single library is to set one or both of the iPods to manual update: Managing content manually on iPod
Choosing the update option "automatically update selected playlists only" allows you to create a playlist specifically for each iPod and drag the tracks you want into it. If you tire of the list and want to change it, you just add or remove the songs you don't want. The ones you take out out remain in the library to be used by the other iPod. Make your playlist a Smart playlist and limit the size to just below the advertised capacity of your iPod ( for example, around 3700MB for a 4GB or 1800MB for a 2GB Mini or Nano). You can read more about playlists at these links:

  • How to delete duplicate songs itunes for windows?

How to delete multple duplicates of songs on Itunes for windows?

Apple's official advice is here... HT2905 - How to find and remove duplicate items in your iTunes library. It is a manual process and the article fails to explain some of the potential pitfalls such as lost ratings and playlist membership.
Use Shift > View > Show Exact Duplicate Items to display duplicates as this is normally a more useful selection. You need to manually select all but one of each group to remove. Sorting the list by Date Added may make it easier to select the appropriate tracks, however this works best when performed immediately after the dupes have been created.  If you have multiple entries in iTunes connected to the same file on the hard drive then don't send to the recycle bin.
Use my DeDuper script if you're not sure, don't want to do it by hand, or want to preserve ratings, play counts and playlist membership. See this thread for background, this post for detailed instructions, and please take note of the warning to backup your library before deduping.
(If you don't see the menu bar press ALT to show it temporarily or CTRL+B to keep it displayed.)
The most recent version of the script can tidy dead links as long as there is at least one live duplicate to merge stats and playlist membership to. There are other ways to deal with deal links alone, but those won't preserve that information.
