ITunes, iPhone, and Starbucks Wi-Fi

I have confirmed this error with another user. We were at two seperate Starbucks locations and both experienced the same error when accessing iTunes from he free AT&T wi-fi at participating starbucks locations. You launch iTunes and the Starbucks symbol shows and attempts to load. The iTunes application doesn't seem to be able to process the connection and begings to flicker between the loading symbol and the actual starbucks section of the iTunes application. Anyone else experience this? Is there a work around or solution?

Didn't think the question was about WiFi, but yes, it does work (I have AT&T higher speed DSL so I use that login so I'm not limited to 2 hours) and I've used Easy WiFi since it was released.
As far as the Starbucks music, on my Touch/iPhone 3G I get the flickering logo that the OP describes, if I go to iTunes on my laptop at Starbucks it tells me that the feature is not available at this time.
My personal opinion: I'll never see it working at any Starbucks in my area, I think the program will quietly go away.

    There really isnt much to syncing music. I have read several posts of folks complaining that making a simple change to one song caused the entire library to resync.
    Suggestion - turn off automatic syncing when you plug your iPhone. Then choose Sync only selected items, and then select all your music. Sync. Then make a change to one song and manually sync again. See if only that one song syncs.

    I am having trouble syncing my iDevices (iphone and ipad) to my windows itunes. I have been syncing to this for years without problem. and since i upgraded to the dreaded ios6, it will not sync.
    When i plug my device into my pc, it recognises it and it automatically begins to sync. At step 2 of the back up, it just hangs and the only way to stop it is remove the phone and close itunes from task manager.
    this is not happening to my old iphone 3gs which runs ios 5.1.1
    i doubt this is a problem with my pc as if it were no devices would sync. I have done a repair on itunes to be sure and i have also deleted and reinstalled the itunes. I am running the latest version 10.7.0.21. My apple product updater says i am running the latest version.
    please could someone help? I have a long flight this weekend and i wanted my latest music on my iphone.!!!

  • Yes I screwed up iTunes, iPhone and iPad, but I'm sure you guys can fix it, right?

    Ok, so I re-formatted my hard drive and re-installed osx without realizing that I hadn't saved my songs and my aperture library file.  At least i have my 10,000+photos on my external drives in a nice folder structure!
    Here's the catch - I had all songs and apps on my iphone and ipad - when i upgraded to iOS5 on the phone, I lost it all becuase i had to re-sync the phone wiht the computer -
    now i have all my songs and apps on the ipad, but I am still missing my purchased music content.  I have a record of my purchases in the itunes store account section, but how can i get this stuff off the ipad and then sync to my computer/phone?  Anyone? Bueller, Bueller, Bueller?
    Okay mac geniuses and work-arounders, I need some good ideas -
    I did download and use a program called Senuti to get my songs off the ipad, but for some reason it wouldn't copy the purchased content and woudln't copy the apps.
    Good luck!  I'm ready and waiting for all ideas, and A HUGE thank you in advance for all your help!

  • Help with iTunes, iPhone and a third party app

    First off, I didn't know where to post this, so I am posting it in iTunes because that's where I am having trouble accessing it.
    I just downloaded the new remote app ( http://gizmodo.com/5023715/apple-remote-iphone-app-controls-your-itunes-over-wi+ fi ) and I have a couple of friends who have it so I know it works, but I can't seem to get it working with my phone.
    The screen for the app install is telling me the fllowing:
    To add an iTunes library, open iTunes and select "xx's iPhone" form the devices list.
    To add Apple TV, go to your Apple TV and choose Remotes from the General menu in Settings.
    That's all the steps to seting up my remote, but I managed to mess that up. I did the first step just fine, and selected my iPhone, synced my phone up with the remote, but I cannot find anything about Apple TV. The only "General menu" I can find is in Edit> Preferences> General, but that has nothing about Apple TV. The only thing I can find about Apple TV is in Help> Apple TV Help.
    So am I just missing a simple menu option somewhere? Thanks in advance.

    I did try going minimal security (I believe I read elsewhere WEP 128) still without result. So after much frustration went and bought an Express, Extreme replaced Netgear router. Internet access is good but I have been unable to "extend" with the Express-- I can access other network devices, but not the internet. When I disable the various "extending" options internet works fine (probably should start a new topic on this). Thanks.

    I have a new computer with Windows XP 64-Bit. I try to install iTunes and it says I need the 64-bit version. I then try the 64-bit version and says something about Vista. So I then install the 32-bit version of iTunes but now it says I can not have iPhone support or copy my iTunes music over. What gives? Is there no XP 64-bit version? It can't be that hard to provide one????? Do I need to trade my iPhone in for a Blackberry if I want to run Windows XP 64-Bit?

    I have a new PC on the way with <sigh> Vista Ultimate 64-bit. I know that iTunes and the iPhone don't currently support this operating system. I'm wondering if anyone has had any success running iTunes in a 32-bit virtual PC under VU64.

    Having already established 2 apple ID's.  I want to change the ID listed on my iphone.  Placing the new, ID on my phone it will not accept it.

    Where/how are you trying to replace it and what happens ? You should be able to log out of the currently logged in account for the stores by tapping on it in Settings > iTunes & App Store and you should then be able to log in with a different account, and for icloud email via Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars to delete and then add an account.

  • 2 apple computers, iTunes, iPhone and my workflow

    I am having some workflow problems.
    I Just purchased my new iMac.. I also have an Macbook.
    The problem is my music. I have a large collection of m4a music. Its about 1.5 TB. So I am not able to store all of my music onto my Macbook or onto my iMac..
    I used to have my iTunes library stored on a external drive connected to my Airport extreme. So everywhere I go with my laptop... it would connect over the internet to my home HDD storage. This works perfectly (a bit slow but oke). I could syncronise my iPhone this way, and I was able to play music on my Macbook and my Apple TV.
    But now I have an extra computer. I was hoping to keep ONLY 1 iTunes library for both computers. And I would like my iPhone to sync with whatever computer is around... So at work this would be my Macbook but at home this would be my iMac... I could sync my iPhone with iTunes Match, but I change the music on my iPhone every other day... so this would be massive donwloading...
    Before I am gonna write down al the stupid workarounds I have come up with.. I would like your opinion about how I should organise my workflow.
    Goals:
    - 1 iTunes library for 2 pc's.
    - WAN acces to library
    - iPhone synces with both computers.
    - No double/local files. (so not a copy of every song on every device.)
    Available:
    - Macbook Pro
    - iMac
    - Airport Extreme + with USB storage connected
    - iPhone
    - Mobile ME
    - iCloud
    - iTunes Match

    Awww come on... this community is full of smart people Nobody with any idea about what to do?

    How does it work with iTunes?
    Do I have to manually add music to the iPhone, do I need a second iTunes account for the iPhone or does iTunes automatically cater for both the iPod and iPhone.

    You can sync multiple iPods and iPhones with the same iTunes account with the same iTunes library.
    The iPhone does not support disk mode, but there is an option to manually manage music and videos for the iPhone sync preferences, or you can sync iTunes content along with syncing contact information, calendar events and bookmarks.

    You can migrate a copy of the data to a new account, then delete the other person's data from each account.  To do this, on the phone that will be changing accounts, if you have any photos in photo stream that you want to keep on the phone, save these to your camera roll by opening the photo stream album in the thumbnail view, tapping Edit, then tap all the photos you want to save, tap Share and tap Save to Camera Roll. If you have any synced notes that you want to keep on the phone, email these to yourself so you can create new notes in the new account.
    Once this is done, go to Settings>iCloud, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account.  (This will only delete the account from this phone, not from iCloud.  The phone that will be keeping the account will not be effected by this.)  When prompted about what to do with the iCloud data, be sure to select Keep On My iPhone.  Next, set up a new iCloud account using a different Apple ID (if you don't have one, tap Get a Free Apple ID at the bottom).  Then turn iCloud data syncing for contacts, etc. back to On, and when prompted about merging with iCloud, choose Merge.  This will upload the data to the new account.  You will create a new icloud email address with you turn Mail to On.
    Finally, to un-merge the data you will then have to go to icloud.com on your computer and sign into each iCloud account separately and manually delete the data you don't want (such as deleting your wife's data from your account, and vice versa).

    Okay.  We have three Ipads in our house with only one Itunes account.   When I go into imessaging and facetime on each of the devices, it wants to start switching my wife's cell phone and then the three emails associated with each Ipad to the contact information for all of the Ipads.    As of this morning, only the imessaging and facetime are turned on my wife's iphone and ipad.   My kids imessaging and facetime is turned off.     Do you really have to have an itunes account for each device to make then work???    Any help would be very much appreciated.

    There is only one solution. Each user must have their own separate user account. All of their respective data would be contained in their separate user accounts. This also means each will have a separate iTunes Library. If you all use the same third-party apps, then each will have to purchase their own copies under their own Apple IDs.     i had one for a long time, then when i got the ipad i didn't realize they would all still work under one so i set up the second one on that
    then when i got the new iphone i put in the info for the first and main one from my mac pro and it would not work at all, and i knew it was right, then it asked me to create a new one or i couldnt finish the setup
