ITunes KEEPS saying 'welcome/register your NEW Apple TV'

For some reason, after no problems, now EVERY TIME I open itunes and click on the apple TV, it tells me 'welcome' and 'Register'!
Once I click Continue, it's fine, and all content is there, AND sync works. But it's really annoying.
I have reset the apple TV and done it all from scratch, even changed the name, but it remains - so the issue has to be with iTunes (where I also removed it prior to starting from scratch) or the iTunes store?
Any suggestions appreciated !!
Thx,
dan

thanks for the tip.
went to
https://register.apple.com
and filled in the form.
this morning when I turned on iTunes it asked again if I'd like to register. Except this time it actually went to the registration form. Again filled in all the stuff and PRESTO! all works like a charm without the annoying register question popping up every time I switch on iTunes.
Thanks Winston!

  • Itunes keeps saying "welcome to your new ipod touch."

I updated itunes and all, and my iPod touch shows up in "My Computer" but I want to add a movie to my iPod Touch but I am unable to because everytime I plug in my ipod to my computer and go to itunes it says "welcome to your new iPod Touch."

    Hello Mike,
Congratulations on your new iPod touch!  When you connect an iPod touch to iTunes for the first time, it gives you the welcome screen, but there should also be a button that says "Continue" or "Get Started" that you can click on to continue with syncing.
Once you have clicked on one of those buttons, you can continue with the steps in the following article to sync content to your new iPod:

  • ITunes saying 'Welcome to your new iPhone'.

I plug my 3 year old Iphone4 into my Mac's Itunes, and it says, 'Welcome to your new Iphone'.
I am given two options; 1] Set up as a new iphone, or 2] Restore from this back up.
I should add, on Saturday 22nd Feb to install the latest update the phone had to be restored to its factory settings but Itunes said I would be able to regain all my data from a backup. So I faced this same situation on Saturday after installing the latest software. The backup only returned my contacts, but not my apps, photos, notes etc. So over the past 2 days I have been adding all my apps again. The last backup option on the itunes is from Saturday.. which will mean I'll lose all my data again.
Any advice on how to back up what I've got right now?
And how to make Itunes realise my phone is not new, and I do not want to restore it, or return it to the previous backup?

Since owning my iPhone I’ve had this happen to me a couple of times now, I plug in my iPhone to do a sync and recharge and get a message telling me “An iPhone has been previously synced with this computer” and gives me the options of setting it up as a new phone, or restoring from a previous back up. Neither of these options describe what I want, as I don’t have it back up on every sync I would lose too much data, and I certainly don’t want to start fresh.
As it turns out, this screen is very misleading and not as threatening as it may appear. Selecting the option to set it up as a new phone does NOT revert your phone back to its starting point as the message may imply. The only change that is made is you will be prompted to rename the phone, after that your phone will sync and all of your settings and data will be preserved.

  • When you recieve an email from apple saying "welcome to your new mac" what does this mean

    hey people
i recieved an email saying "welcome to your new mac"
i have already got a imac and was wondering if this means someone has purchesed another mac?
    thanks

Did the email ask that you click on a link or provide additional information about yourself? If so it's a phishing scam. Delete the message and ignore it.
If you did buy a new computer sometime recently, then it's just a welcome email, nothing more.

  • HT201269 stuck on the screen that says "Welcome to your new Iphone"

I need some help.. I've recently repaired my iphone 4 and had it in recovery mode. I plugged it in to itunes (using Windows on a PC) and it sorted itself out of recovery mode. A screen then opens saying something like "Welcome to your new iPhone" where my option is to set up as new iphone or restore from backup. (shown as a screen dump under nr 6 in the checklist here: iOS: Transferring information from your current iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to a new device)
I restore from a backup and everything seems to be going allright, when the restore is done iTunes says I will have to go through a setup on my phone. I do the setup and the phone now contains some old photos, textmessages, contacts, web favorites, e-mail setup and other things. But iTunes still shows the Welcome-page! I cant continue with the sync of my music and apps! my only option is to set up as new iphone or restore from backup again. I've tried a number of times to restore from backup and the only thing that happens is a new backup is shown in the scrollbar. (sorry, don't know if scrollbar's even a word..)
    Whats wrong? Anybody?

Connect to iTunes on the computer you usually Sync with and “ Restore “...

  • Itunes says welcome to your new ipod... but my ipod is already full of content

My daughter's iPod touch 5th generation is full of content.  She's had it for several months.  We tried backing  it up to our year old Mac Mini, running Mountain Lion 10.8.5.  We were first asked to trust the computer on the iPod, which we did.  Now iTunes on the Mac Mini is welcoming us to our new iPod - we don't want to erase it  and start over - just back it up.
    Thanks!

Select setup as "New", the next screen should prompt you to rename your phone. Just name it what you already have it named. After that, you should be able to sync/backup and all of your data & settings will still be exactly as you've already set them up on your phone. That message is more threatening than what really happens.

  • Trying to download itunes keeps saying I don't have apple application support

I am trying to download Itunes to a new computer error message that there is no apple application support!!  Any ideas??

With the Error 2, let's try a standalone Apple Application Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of the issue.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR suitable for your PC (there's a 32-bit Windows version and a 64-bit Windows version). If the following link takes you to the WinRAR home page rather than the WinRAR downloads page, click the Downloads header in the box at the left of the WinRAR home page to see the trial version downloads:
    http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleApplicationSupport.msi to do a standalone AAS install.
Does it install properly for you? If so, see if iTunes will launch without the error now.
If instead you get an error message during the install, let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.)

  • ITunes will not go past "Welcome to Your New iPhone" screen after multiple attempts of restoring old data of iPhone 5s.

    Hello,
I'm really sorry if this is posted in the wrong place...
So just yesterday, I decided to update my iPhone 5s to the new iOS, 8.1.1 but I did not have any room on my phone due to most of the storage being taken up by "other". I backed up my phone onto iTunes and proceeded to restore the phone to its factory settings. Aftewards, the new iOS was presumably loaded onto my phone through iTunes. When my phone restarted, I clicked "Restore from this backup" and continued. It reloads again and I open my phone and went through the settings. When I got back to what I normally saw, all of the apps but one were gone. My backgrounds, contacts, and photos were there, but my music was gone. I looked back onto iTunes and the "Welcome to Your New iPhone" screen was there again. I restored it to my back up once again, but to no avail. I can't get past the Welcome screen. Is anyone else having this problem? I'm afraid that if I restore again I'll lose the apps I reloaded onto my phone once again.

No. You have no alternative but to plug it into a computer running iTunes and restore it.

  • "welcome to your new iPhone"

Every single time I plug my iPhone 4S in it shows that screen that says "welcome to your new iPhone. lets get started" i have to press continue every time to sync. how do i make this stop?

For whatever weird reason, updating iTunes to 7.7.1 did the trick. It must have been some pref or cache thing that was overwritten with the update. While the question wasn't answered I guess it is fixed.
I'd still be curious to know about that build version difference the Genius mentioned.

  • I cannot purchase in game, it keeps saying cannot find your Apple ID, but works fine in apple store download

We'll, I recently get a new phone, and I used my old phones back ups. And now I can not purchase in game with my Apple ID, it keep saying " cannot find your Apple ID or wrong password" but I can still purchase in Apple store
And it works just fine in the old phone

There are a lot of reports of people having this problem (including me). The Apple iTunes store has been having other issues as well (some speculate it might be related to the recent Lion release).
You could open a case with Apple, or you could just wait it out. I'm sure Apple is in the process of fixing it since this seems to be hitting a lot of users.

  • Downloaded bey new videos on pc. try playing them back itune keep say error  can't see video through itune

can't see my video  of beyonce  the new one throught itunes keep saying error

Too be honest, my Mac mini is flawless, as has been my experience with every other Apple product I have bought over the years. In 26+ years of using Apple, 98% of issues is user or ISP caused.
I can see the videos fine. I hate social sites, so I cannot test the FaceBook issue. I have heard that if a FB page has a lot of Flash it can wreck havoc on the Mac because Adobe has crappy Flash for the Mac and nothing for iOS devices. If the issue is Flash, a 3rd party app, that would be Adobe's issue, Apple does not make Flash.
One thing that may resolve some connection issues is the DNS service you are using. Try OpenDNS or Google Public DNS. It is best to configure your modem/router for the DNS service, but oft times a Mac can override the preset service in the modem/router in the Sys Prefs/Network settings.
    OpenDNS
    208.67.222.222, 208.67.220.220
    Google Public DNS
    8.8.8.8. 8.8.4.4
    BTW, to have your Safari window fill the screen, grab the title bar of the window and drag it to a top left corner of your display. Then go to the bottom right corner and grab and drag it to the bottom display corner. Look for this part of the bottom right corner to grab;

  • I restored from iTunes backup but it goes back to 'welcome to your new iphone'

My iphone 5 was replaced today because of a faulty power button. I had done an iTunes backup this morning, choosing to backup iTunes purchases and the apps as well.
In order to restore the backup to my new phone I had to set it up as a new phone and update to 7.1.2. All good so far.
I then chose to restore from backup (dated today) and it all seemed fine until the restore was complete and the iphone restarted and I was taken back to the 'Welcome to Your New iPhone' screen. Thankfully my photos and contacts have come across but none of my iTunes library, emails or most of my apps. What I'd really like to retrieve are the notes I had in Notemaster...lots of important details about trip bookings, finances etc.
I suspect an incomplete/corrupt backup was made this morning as I think I'd used about 47gb on my phone and the backup file in my application support folder is 11.8gb (although I don't imagine that folder would include all the video & music from my iTunes library??). I thought I could go back to the backup I made in June but it looks like it was overwritten by the new backup I made today...is that right?
Can anyone please suggest a fix or am I going to have to set it up as a new phone in order to get past the 'welcome to your new iphone' screen. First I'd somehow have to back up all my photos and contacts or I'll probably lose them.
Actually, I've just downloaded iBackupBot and I can see all my notes in the backup I made this morning so they do still exist even though the app didn't download in the restore, in fact it looks like a lot of my user app files are there. What do I do now? My head hurts h e l p . . . p l e a s e

I don't think that you need to restore from the backup again. If you see nothing at all in the App Store. Try closing the app completely, reset your iPad and them try again.
In order to close apps in iOS 7, you have to drag the app up from the multitasking display. Double tap the home button and you will see apps lined up going left to right across the screen. Swipe to get to the app that you want to close and then swipe "up" on the app preview thumbnail to close it.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

  • I restored my iphone 4 and whenever I connect to itunes it comes up with welcome to your new iphone

Ok so I had to restore my iPhone because it wasn't able to connect to iTunes or something like that. So I restored and updated my iPhone and now it comes up with "Welcome to Your new iPhone" and below that it says set up as new iPhone or restore from this backup. I have used the restore from backup 3 times and each time it comes up with the same thing again. I don't want to set up it up as new iPhone because I don't want to lose my messages and contacts.

Try restoring as a new device first.

  • While unlocking the iphone 4, got message in itunes "Welcome to your new iphone"

While unlocking the iphone 4, got message in itunes "Welcome to your new iphone".
Should I now Set up as new iphone or restore from an earlier backup?
This is my 2nd try...in the 1st try (restored from earlier backup) I did not recieve any note in itune saying that my phone is unlocked.
    Please help!!!!!

When you saw this screen (except with "iPhone" and not "iPod"), you clicked "Set Up as New," correct?

  • My new phone will not register my new apple id.. it will only pick up my old id, and I cant do anything to my new phone cause it keeps asking for the password to the old id!

how do get my new phone to register my new apple id when it keeps coming up with old id, but i can reset anything off the old id, cant even restore the phone cause it keeps using the old id!

All content bought using an Apple ID cannot be merged or transferred to another Apple ID.
If you want only to use the new Apple ID, you need to delete all apps, music & books with the old Apple ID and repurchase with the new Apple ID.
