Itunes music problems iphone 4?

I have had music through itunes/ripped CDs on my Apple device since the second Gen iPod. Some of the music has been around that long, since I ripped it from my CD collection back in the day and some are brand new purchases off of the itunes store.
I am a fairly savvy Mac user and have done a lot of searching through the forums with no real solutions. I have over 6000 songs, that's 18.7 days of music. More than I can fit on my 32GB iphone 4. That means I have to pick and choose the songs I want to put on it... etc.
There are two main issues.
1. Some albums, including BRAND NEW itunes purchases (Today is July 24, 2013), simply skip through the album. This happens more often than not. I erased my entire library off of the phone and reloaded some albums (because, who wants to go through 6000 songs again) to test it out. Still happens. Shuffle is NOT on. I've reloaded the music several times. I don't want a new iPhone 5. I've also purcahsed digital versions of the ripped CDs I had.
2. A diifferent kind of skipping - After having just loaded some music onto my iphone today, the music skips. Like a scratch on a record or CD. It's an iPhone. Solid state hard drive. no moving parts...
I have transfered between computers quite a few times in the last 12 years. With work/home computers...
So, here are 2 questions:
1. If my files are corrupted, is there a way to clean them up or replace them? 6000+ songs? I don't have 18.7 days to go through each song to see if they each work...
2. How can I tell if the file is corrupted? I have the disposition to listen to each song and take notes, but I don't want to...
I'm really frustrated for 2 reasons - I have lost all of the sorting/playlists I had done in my 12 year old library and I want to listen to my music uninterrupted.
This should just work.
Thank you

So I was looking at another discussion about not being able to get into the App Store and tried this:
Settings>Privacy>Location Services>System Services (swipe to the bottom of the page to find this)>Location Based iAds>Off.
Was able to get iTunes to open up and show music/movies, etc...  Went back in and put Location Based iAds back on and still able to get into iTunes.   Not sure if this was the probelm or if iTunes was done (for whatever reason) over the weekend.

  • How do I change the default locations for the iTunes music and iPhone back-up folders?

My computer's hard drive is partitioned, with one partition having all of the Windows system files, and the other having all of my documents, music, videos, etc.  When I installed iTunes, it automatically created its music and iPhone folders on the Windows partition.  I've been able to change the default save folders for other programs to the second partition, but I'm having troubles finding this option in iTunes (I even went back and re-installed it to see if I could find it that way, but no dice).  Is there a way to change the default folders for the iTunes library and iPhone files?  It takes up A LOT of space on my Windows partition, so it would be very great to get that moved over.
    Thanks!

You can't selectively move individual folders withing the iTunes  folder, but you can move the entire folder to, say, an external dive. To delink the iTunes application to the new library location:
Open iTunes while holding down the Option key (Mac) or Shift key (Windows).
In the resulting dialog, click the Choose Library button.
Select the iTunes folder you moved to the external hard drive.
Click Choose (Mac OS X) or Open (Windows) and then choose the iTunes Library file inside .

  • Having trouble moving iTunes music onto iPhone 5

    Hey guys,
I'm going to try my best to clarify everything so please bare with me.
    Windows 7 (64-bit)
    iTunes (11.3)
    iPhone 5 64GB (iOS 7.1.2)
    - All are up to date as of now
    - There is enough storage for my 4,462 songs I want to add
Yesterday, I finally transferred all of my music from my library on my computer to this one (and downloaded some new songs).
I wanted to put all of my iTunes music from my computer onto to my iPhone via USB cable. I wanted to delete all music from my iPhone to clean the slate then add the new music to make sure everything is new (no duplicates, wrong songs, etc.) I have done this a few times before.
So I plugged in my iPhone and checked manually manage music (as I usually do), then highlighted all of my songs on my iPhone and deleted them. Then they disappeared from the phone's music list and showed that I had gained all that space back (this is all normal).
So I highlighted all of the music on my iTunes (4,462 songs) and dragged them into the iPhone music area.
It then began copying the songs over, so I left it there to copy overnight because all of those songs would take a while to transfer.
Today I woke up and checked to see if it was done and I saw that most songs did not copy and instead were grayed out with the dotted circles next to them.
It said "Copying 1 of 382 --> Song name" but hasn't made any progress since then.
So I deleted the grayed out songs from the list but couldn't delete the ones that were trying to copy.
I tried cancelling the copying process but it was stuck at that same "1 of 382" for 30 minutes.
So I ejected my iPhone but it said "Syncing iPhone" or something like that. I left it like that for 10 minutes and it didn't do anything so I unplugged my phone from my computer and did a hard restart on the phone. In the meantime iTunes said something like "Failed, the device was disconnected."
I restarted my computer and opened iTunes again and connected my phone again. I plugged in my phone and tried syncing all of the music instead and it did basically the same thing and then said there wasn't enough room to transfer items.
I didn't understand because when I clicked on my iPhone device it didn't show any music. But then I looked at the storage bar and it showed that music was taking up about 30GB (about the amount of music that I wanted to transfer originally) on my iPhone.
So now I'm trying to delete the music off of my iPhone but it doesn't show the songs on it in iTunes.
I tried deleting all the music through the options in my phone (it let me do it) but it didn't delete any music (even after hard restarting my phone).
So now I'm not able to transfer music to my phone...
         1. Because it says there is not enough room
         2. I'm having trouble with the songs that won't transfer via syncing or manually managing items because of the stupid
I've tried so many things, read so many threads online but nothing is working, and I definitely don't want to restore my iPhone...
         1. Many people said they've tried that and many other things but nothing worked
         2. I don't want to have to bother with that whole process and am worried about losing something(s) in the backup process.
If anyone has any suggestions, I'd much appreciate it them.

I haven't, I've been using the same account since I first got an iPod. Although...I just noticed that all the songs that did transfer are songs I bought from iTunes. None of the songs I imported from CDs got transferred. What's the deal?

  • ITunes Music on iPhone

Is there not a way to hide the status bar, shuffle & repeat bar on the iPhone 5?  I activated it today and updated my iTunes to the new version and now I don't have the ability to hide the bar.  All I want to see is the Artist name, Song Title and Album name at the top...I don't want the additional bar below it.
With previous iTunes/iPhone versions, I was able to tap the bar and hide it, but that does not seem to work this time.  I have tried tapping the album cover art & the bar I want to hide and it does not work.  I have even restarted the phone, reset the phone and restored it to factory settings and set it up as a new iPhone and nothing seems to work.
Any ideas or is this no longer an option?

I went through a similar (but less dramatic) experience recently when trying to understand why there were any songs on my iPhone that were not in iTunes on my Mac.
I cleaned much as you did, and the iTunes said I had no songs on the iPhone much as yours did.  But I did have three songs remaining on the iPhone itself.  These were all songs that had come from some extraneous source (e.g., Starbuck's download).
To delete them on the iPhone, find each one in the Songs tab under iTunes on the iPhone (not the computer), swipe from right to left and choose "Delete".

  • Lost iTunes music off iPhone

Ok here's the problem and I know it's my fault but some help would be so nice.
I have an iPhone 3GS and I just downloaded the new 4 software off a friends computer(big mistake) but I don't have the computer I usually sync to so I was desperate. Now that I have the new software and that works well, I have discovered that all my music has been wiped from my iPhone iTunes. Most of these songs I have already backed up on my normal computer(when I get to use it) but there are some songs that I have purchased on my iPhone iTunes but have not sync them to the computer yet. Please tell me there is a way that I can get my purchased music again without having to buy it a second time??

  • Can't sync iTunes music to iPhone

I'm using iTunes on my MacBook, OS 10.8.5.  My iPhone has IOS 8.1.2.  My iPhone is connected to the Macbook by cable.  Under Summary I have checked Automatically Back Up "This Computer".  Under Options I have checked "Automatically sync when this iPhone is connected" and "Sync only checked songs and videos.  I only use iTunes on the MacBook to sync my music collection to my iPhone.  Under Songs I have checked "Selected playlists, artists, albums and genres.  Then when I check my music on my iPhone, i find that only half of the genres and none of the playlists have synced. Why can't I do a full sync?  Does anyone have any ideas?  Your help would be very much appreciated.

Go to http://www.apple.com/itunes/download and get the latest version of iTunes from there.
Interestingly, you told us what version of iOS and OS X you are running, but not what version of iTunes.
Your post says you are using OS X 10.8.5, but your profile (below your post) says OS X 10.6.5.  If OS X 10.8.5 (Mountain Lion) is correct, then you can run the latest iTunes (12.0.1).

  • Copying non itunes music from iphone to computer

My PC crashed. I purchased a new Window 8 computer and odwnloaded iTune. Apple no longer allows you to sync from iPhone to iTunes. I signed up for iTunes Match but that only put music I purchased in iTunes. Any ideas?

Music has never been synced from the iPhone to iTunes except for music that was purchased from the iTunes Store.
Where is your computer's backup that should include your iTunes library and all other important data such as documents, photos, etc., or was all other important data lost as well?

  • Itunes music problems

heres my problem: i try to download individual songs/albums/artists and itunes goes and download all 7543 songs in my library! i dont know what to do. in running latest itunes and ios and have itunes sync off and show all music off. please help

yes, this is the wrong forum - but let me have a stab.
i would reformat the external drive - which will wipe everything off of it
with your drive pluged in, go to
applications > utilities > disk utility
click on your external drive, in the left column
    click the erase tab
    choose Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
    Name it
    click erase

  • Need help to develop app to remotely add tags to iTunes music from iPhone

    Hi
I have recently developed a simple app that sits on my desktop and allows me to add specific tags/text to the 'comment' field of the currently playing track in my iTunes library, the text added depending on the item clicked in some drop-down menus.
This is fine for when I am sitting at my Mac, but most of the time I would like to be able to add tags from a distance, i.e. remotely, using the iPhone, so I started to develop my first iPhone app for this purpose.
I have succesfully designed a simple Tab Bar Application, with two views, which have all the buttons I need, but now I am stumped as to how to set up the remote part of the app. On the Desktop version I simply wrote some applescript with sections for each of the menu items. On the iPhone I am not sure how I would go about this.
Any help with this, either with the procedure I need to follow, or pointing me in the right direction of a tutorial or some such thing, would be gratefully received.
    thanks
    nick.

Do you mean write access to the iTunes library, rather than iPod library?
If so, if I can accomplish my task with getting the iPhone app to interact with the Desktop app that would be fine. However, I have no idea of how to go about this. Can you give me any pointers?
The desktop app basically consists of a few drop down menus with items that are linked to sections in the project's applescript, which tell iTunes to add specific text to the comments field.
    Thanks
    Nick

  • Deleting iTunes music problem

Alright, either I'm missing something very simple or I'm just lost. So I had a ton of music in my library, so I wanted to trim it down, way down. Opened itunes and went artist by artist, moving the music to the trash and deleting it. Finally got down to around 14 gb of music left. I went into the iTunes folder, going through user-->music etc. I check the folder and it says its 60 gb huge. Why is there still so much music there? I want to keep the music that actually shows up in iTunes, but not all that stuff. Thanks for any help in advance!

does anyone know how to delete music files from
iTunes library/computer, without losing the files on
my iPod Shuffle the next time i connect it to my
computer. i know it has something to do with the
syncronizing options, but i just can't figure it out.
i don't want all these music files on my computer
after i have transferred them to my Shuffle.
    thanks
When your Shuffle is connected, in Settings UNcheck "Open this iPod when attached" and click Apply. The NEXT time you connect it, iTunes won't open and you'll be able to charge your Shuffle...

The iphone is not a backup/storage device.  They sync is one way - computer to iphone.  The only exception is itunes purchases -  File>Devices>Transfer Purchases
Copy everything from your old computer, or your backup copy of your old computer, to your new one.
