ITunes not running on Windows XP

I've downloaded the latest version of iTunes. It worked the first few times I ran it, but then all of a sudden it refused to open when I clicked it. I get a message saying "iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." Then I have the options of debug, Send error report, dont send error report. I've re-downloaded and installed iTunes several times now and I still get the same message, any ideas as to whats going on?

I had a similar issue - iTunes using ~40% of cpu when playing audio. I had a brain flash the other day, and remembered that when going through the Quicktime Preferences I had set the audio format for my soundcard (M-Audio Revolution 7.1) at 24 bit/192kHz. I had thought the setting was asking for the maximum capability of the card. In fact, what it says is "Select the output format supported by your audio hardware." After a little detective work, I realized that this setting was causing iTunes and Quicktime to up-convert everything to 24/192. Since 99% of what I play in iTunes is encoded natively at a sampling rate of 44.1kHz (mp3,AAC) I went ahead and changed the audio format to 24/44.1 in the QT preferences. iTunes now uses less than 10% of my cpu. I had the same issue for windows 7. Right click on the iTunes setup file and run as administrator, it works.

Director 11.5 "exe" not running in windows lower version

hi,
i have some project made in director mx2004 (d10) and convert it to director 11.5 but when i publish exe it will not run on windows 2000 or windows 98 (basically lower then windows xp2), have any one idea of that

This page shows the authoring and runtime OS requirements. Unfortunately, D 11.5 isn't set up to run on Windows versions earlier than XP. You may want to keep that earlier version of your .exe and make it available to users with 2000 or 98.

Microsoft Windows 8.1 officially supports all currently supported Microsoft Office versions including Office 2013 / 2010 / 2007 / 2003 , and may be even earlier versions unofficially. I use Microsoft Office Professional Plus on my Windows 8.1 and it runs fine with no issues. Could you try what has already been suggested by others including Big_Dave and reinstall Microsoft Office with complete reboot/restart between uninstall/new installation <restart, not shut down and start over>. If this doesn't work, please post again if installation went fine, what exactly is the error code (if any), what is the problem exactly, any screenshots ?

Continuing update failure problems, "Not running real Windows"

About 2 weeks ago I started getting a message on my computer screen "Not running Genuine Windows". I am most definitely running genuine windows. I checked the archives here and tried a fix that popped up, no joy.
It gave a fix option, which failed...generating error code 800706F7 again. I called tech support, a lady spent two hours working on the computer and could not fix it. She sent me to level two tech support, he called on New Years Day and worked on it for
a couple of hours and thought it was fixed.
The error message is back, the computer will not accept updates from windows updates.com, tells me to install update fix it, did so, still fails to install updates. This is becoming a nightmare, please help.

Please use system restore to restore the system back to a store point before two weeks ago and check if the issue still exists.

ITunes 10 will not run on Windows 7, 64 bit

I have upgraded to itunes 10 and now it will not run. In task manager the process is running but no programme. i uninstalled all itunes, quick step, bonjour and apple folders. Then tried a clean instal of itunes 10. Still didn't work. Uninstalled again and reloaded v 9.2 and it works. Tried disabling bonjour and ran the instal of 10 again and it still doesn't work. This is becoming a major pain as I am stuck on v9.2.

Try installing the version 10 again so we can check on a few other characteristics of the problem, seeoh.
(1) Does your QuickTime Player launch, or do you get an error message of some kind when you try to launch that?
(2) Try (by way of experiment) disabling the BonJour Service.
In your Start Menu, right-click Computer and select "Manage".
Expand "Services & Applications".
Open "Services". (Maximise the window to better see what's going on.)
Right-click the BonJour Service and select "Properties". In the "General" tab, set Start-up type to "Disabled".
Restart the PC, and try launching iTunes again. Does it launch this time?

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
iTunes
Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
Bonjour
Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.

ITunes installs but does not run on Windows 7 64-bit

I've spent a couple hours going over advice on this forum as well as elsewhere on the Internet to resolve this. iTunes installs without a problem but when we run it, nothing appears. iTunes.exe *32 and iTunesHelper.exe *32 appear in the Windows Task Manager but there is no other evidence that iTunes is running.
I've tried installing and reinstalling. I've tried a number of different compatibility settings. Surely there must be an easy way to resolve this.
