Itunes onto non apple mp player

I want to download from itunes onto a non-apple mp player.  I have windows 7 64-bit with itunes installed, but I don't fancy the apple price range for players.  I want something for about £80 and £50 for a speaker dock.  I've been told I must use an apple ipod.  Is this correct?iii

I want to download from itunes onto a non-apple mp player.
Why would you want to do that?  It would be much easier to purchase your songs in MP3 format from Amazon.com MP3 or other stores.
MP3s are compatible with all MP3 players as well as with iTunes /iPod/iPhone.  No conversion required.
To sync songs to your MP3 player, follow the instructions that came with the player.  As tt2 notes, the iTunes program is designed to only sync Apple devices.

I have copied my CDs into iTunes  (currently running v11) to play on my iPod.  I have now bought a non Apple mp3 player to use when I am out running.  How can I copy the many tracks I want from iTunes onto the new player?
    Thanks

I tried Notpod but can't get it to work.  Part of the problem, I suspect, is that I can't create a folder on my player (a SanDisk Clip+).  I also can't do this in Windows Explorer.  Whilst I can see the Clip+ in Explorer, the option to create a new folder isn't there.
The error mesag I get in Notpod is:
"Unhandled exception has occurred in your application.  If you click Continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue.  If you click Quit the application will close immediately.
InvalidArgument=Value of '0' is not valid for 'SelctedIndex'. Parameter name: SelectedIndex"
Then, when I plug the Clip+ into a USB port, iTunes thinks it is my iPad - which is because, I guess, Notpod hasn't worked.
I can drag and drop files from the Music folder where my iTunes tracks are stored onto the Clip+ and they get converted but I'd rather synchronise a Playlist from iTunes if I can.
    Thanks anyone who can help

  • ITunes + Non-Apple MP3 player?

Is there any way to sync a non-apple MP3 player with iTunes?

I use a freeware app called SyncTunes with my Walkman mobile phone. The app works with any MP3 player that mounts as a USB drive - and works extremely well at that, IMO.
Which makes me believe that Apple should work on opening up iTunes to non-iPod USB-based MP3 players. More and more devices - from SanDisk, from mobile phone manufacturers, and now in portable GPS units like the Garmin Nuvi 360 - incorporate this capability. (Personally, this means the iPod's days are numbered...)

  • Is it legal to transfer songs onto non-Apple devices?

I bought a song in iTunes Store. Can I put it on a non-Apple mp3 player? Is it legal?
    Thanks for the answer!

    Can I put it on a non-Apple mp3 player?
The songs sold in the iTunes Store are in AAC format.  They are not MP3s.  Most newer MP3 players can play AACs, but not all can.  Check the instructions that came with your player.
In case your player cannot play AACs, use these instructions to convert the AACs to MP3.

  • Can't get "movies" in my iTunes onto my Apple TV (1st generation)...

I have a series of videos of differing lengths that are in my iTunes Movies folder/category. They play in iTunes with no problem, but many will not appear on my Apple TV.
I've tried highlighting them and clicking Advanced-Create iPad or Apple TV Version, but I get an error message stating "Filename" could not be converted because this file does not allow saving or conversion.
These videos are from various sites and are in various formats (some mpeg 4, some .mov). I downloaded them legally and have the right to have them.
What is causing this? How can I get them onto my Apple TV hard drive so I can play them?

the appletv will only display media in formats it support
    http://www.apple.com/appletv/specs/
    Video Formats
H.264 video up to 1080p, 30 frames per second, High or Main Profile level 4.0 or lower, Baseline Profile level 3.0 or lower with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps per channel, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats
MPEG-4 video up to 2.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Simple Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats
Motion JPEG (M-JPEG) up to 35 Mbps, 1280 by 720 pixels, 30 frames per second, audio in ulaw, PCM stereo audio in .avi file format

  • Why does it take so long to download a movie from itunes onto our apple tv?

Can you pleaes tell me why it is not documented that you have to wait several hours to download a film from itunes store onto our apple tv, stupidly we thought this would be instant!  We have changed our download resolution but still no help!!

Because you apprently have a very serius network issue.  Purchased TV Shows and Movies can generally be viewed with in about 30 sec. of buying them.  I believe rented shows have to be fully downloaed before they can be viewed which depending on your internet connetion could take several hours or longer.

  • Can i play movies i have downloaded from itunes on none apple tablets.

    As above

As long as the Movies are on the device already you can watch them without a wi-fi or cellular network.

  • Is it possible to sync purchased music from the Itunes store to a non-Apple device?

I have a shuffle but my sister has a non-Apple MP3 player. How do I take music from my library that i purchased and add it to her non-apple mp3 player?

You would have to read the directions that came with the MP3 player to learn how to put music on it.
    itunes syncs Apple devices.

  • ITunes HD content for non-apple tvs now?

So now that Apple are well and truly plugging their mac mini as a great device to play movies through iTunes onto your HDTV, will they ever come to the real party and allow HD content for download onto non apple tv products?!
The mac mini is great but it's crippled as an iTunes device if you can't buy or rent HD content.

Purchasing HD content in countries other than the US is
based solely on licensing agreements with the studios
and not an Apple decision.  Streaming to devices is a
different license than delivering a permanent copy.  And
streaming can also be limited from one provider to the next.
Bottom line, the studios decide what Apple can or cannot
    sell or stream.

  • The Case of Missing ID3 Tags... and non-Apple devices, like the Sonos

Ever since the debut of iTunes 6, devices other than my Mac and my iPod have been unable to find the ID3 tags associated with .mp3 files. If I rip a CD in iTunes 6 or 7, artist/album/track data (and album artwork) display properly in iTunes and on my iPod; but when I update my Sonos music library, for example, all it is able to see is the file name. So, for example, if I rip Jimi Hendrix's "Are You Experienced," the track "Purple Haze" shows up in iTunes correctly associated with "Hendrix" and "...Experienced." On the Sonos system, however, all it sees is the track "Purple Haze.mp3." No artist. No album. Ditto for placing one of these .mp3 files on a non-Apple mp3 player: track name only shows up. Bizarrely, if I rip CDs on an older PPC G4 running iTunes 4.0, and then import those files into either iTunes 6 or 7, the ID3 tags remain married to the files. Anyone have a solution to this vexing problem?
    PowerBook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   2 Gigs SDRAM
Core Duo iMac   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   2 Gigs SDRAM

In the newer versions of itunes 6+7 (don't know about 5) iTunes by default will rename the file on the HD to match the info in the "Name" column of iTunes - this is true if you have the "Keep" option selected in iTunes prefs>Advanced>General.
With iTunes 4 this was not true. I would use one of Dougs scripts to rename all my files on the HD to be Artist-Song Name. You can still do this in iTunes 6+7 if you turn off the "Keep" option or you don't edit any info in the id3 tag once you have run the script.
I know nothing of the Sonos and other stuff - I can only think that is reading only the file sname and not the id3 tag info. If it doesn't have the capability of reading and displaying the id3 tag info then I think you are out of luck. iTunes is reading the id3 tag info.

  • I understand that I can now download iTunes directly into an MP3 player. If that is correct (is it?) how do I do that?

    The subject tells all.

if it's not an apple device you still need to convert the itunes music to an mp3 format so it can be sync'ed up with a non apple mp3 player.

  • Hello, Can anyone tell me...if I purchase a music album from the iTunes Music Store, can I download these onto an ordinary mp3 Player, or does it have to have the Apple OS system , i.e. the ipod?

    Hello,
Can anyone tell me....am I able to download music purchased from iTunes store onto a non-apple mp3 device, OR NOT?
I am relatively new to Apple , so am fairly new to the system!
    Thanks!

You can, but you will have to create a new version of the songs that you download from the store (they will be in .m4a format from the store which your MP3 player won't support).
After downloading a song, go into iTunes > Preferences (command-comma) and on the General tab click the 'Import Settings' button and on the next screen change the 'import using' to 'MP3 encoder' (or one of the other options if your MP3 player supports it). To create a MP3 version of your downloaded song(s), select/highlight them in the Music part of your iTunes library, control-click, and on the popup select 'create MP3 version' (the 'MP3' will change depending upon what you've selected as the type on 'import settings' options).
Creating a different version of songs : iTunes: How to convert a song to a different file format - Apple Support
You should then be able to copy the music to your MP3 player in the same way as you normally do.

  • HT1369 Ipod touch not being recognized by itunes (but is registering as an external drive by the computer itself) have updated and reinstalled itunes, stopped/started apple mobile device and removed and mobile programs associated with my non apple cellpho

Ipod touch not being recognized by itunes (but is registering as an external drive by the computer itself) have updated and reinstalled itunes, stopped/started apple mobile device and removed any mobile programs associated with my non apple cellphone. This seems to have started happening after the last Itunes update I did as I was able to put music on my ipod touch a month or so ago. Is there some way to go back to an older version of itunes? I really have no idea what else to do since I followed every step on the trouble shooting page for windows 8.

I had this problem too and my roommate solved it!
    Go to 'Settings'
    'Music'
Scroll to the bottom and enter your password to log onto your home sharing
Then connect to iTunes and sync!

  • Does iTunes 10.3 sync non apple ebooks OTA

Does iTunes 10.3 sync non apple ebooks OTA?  I downloaded an epub book from Gutenberg onto my iPhone. It doesn't show up on my iTunes 10.3.1 on my Macbook. Similarly when I load  non ibook ebook to my iTunes on my MacBook it doesn't push it out to my iPhone or other computers. iBooks sync fine.

If by OTA you mean wireless sync to your computer and are running the seed version of iOS 5, that's not something anyone can discuss here.
