Itunes podcast "re download" after listening

I recently downloaded iTunes 12.1.1.4 on Windows 7 and once I've listened to a podcast, it redownloads after deletion.  I have tried multiple combinations to get iTunes to delete podcasts to which I have listened, but nothing works, including marked as played.  Any thoughts?

Same issue although mine decided to download 25 days of listening - every episode of every podcast. No idea which ones I've listened to in many cases so I've deleted the lot for now. Total pain and not the first time this has happened. |'m now actively looking for an iTunes alternative. Podcasts used to be rock solid but the last few months it's been issue after issue - ever since the last major UI overhaul. As this is my main use of iTunes, time to move on I think.

  • I purchased a new computer and transferred itunes, but can't get the podcasts I downloaded after the transfer to sync to my nano

I purchased a new computer and transferred itunes to it but now can't get podcasts downloaded after the transfer to sync with device.

So you have these podcasts downloaded and stored in your iTunes library is that correct?  However, they will not sync with the device?  Are these video or audio podcasts?
How is your Nano currently configured to sync podcasts?  You can check this by viewing the iPod's Podcasts configuration tab in iTunes.  To view this tab, plug your iPod in and select it from under the Devices section in the left hand pane of iTunes to bring yourself to the Summary tab that now shows to the right.  Look for the Podcasts tab along the top and select it.  Here you can configure how and what Podcasts are synced.
If you do happen to make any changes from under this tab, be sure to hit the Apply button to sync the updated changes to the Nano.

  • Podcasts not downloading after installing iTunes update

I just installed the new update, and now NONE of my podcast sources are downloading. I have tried rebooting, and got the same result. I have never before had all of my regular sources unavailable at the same time. Anyone else having this problem after installing the update on a Mac?

ME TOO. Now I want to know how I can DOWNgrade iTunes.
Also, when I have left iTunes open for a while, I come back to it, and the window is all indecipherable garbage.
And don't waste your time. I have done it all, and nothing has helped. I either download podcast by painful podcast or I don't get anything at all.

  • Podcasts not downloading after upgrading to iOS 8.3.

Ever since I upgraded my iPhone 6 to iOS 8.3, the Podcasts app is no longer downloading the apps. If I just play the podcasts, then it will do an "on demand" download, so I can listen to them, but I would like to have them downloaded while at home so that I don't have to worry about incurring data charges.
Has anybody dealt with this already and figured out a fix? I've tried forcing the app to close (double-tap on the Home button, then swipe away) but the problem persists.
Any ideas would be much appreciated.
    Thanks!

I had the same issue as well. What I did was disabled and re-enabled WiFi, totally closed down the podcast Application and did a soft reset by holding down the sleep/wake button on the side and home button at the same time until the Apple logo appeared again. Upon rebooting I re-opened the podcast app and tried to download a podcast and it worked once again.

  • Podcast artwork shows up in the iTunes store, but not after downloading

I have several podcasts in iTunes and the artwork for all the shows show up in the iTunes store without an issue. However, if you download a podcast, the artwork does not show up in the library of iTunes or transfer to the iPhone.
    All images are 600X600
    Any Ideas?
My podcasts are part of the Music Podcast Network. If you search "mpn" in iTunes, they are easily found. MPN: Pop, Country, Hip-Hop, etc.
I also use Feedburner. Here is a link to one of my shows:
    http://feeds.feedburner.com/mpnpop
    Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you. However the answer is more for someone who is downloading podcasts, while I want to make sure there is not an issue when someone downloads one of my podcasts. I use smartfeed in feedburner and have the image included. When I preview the image in feedburner, it looks perfect. However, the image is not being downloaded in iTunes when you download a single episode. I also have the image selected for each episode when I publish on my libsyn accounts. An example is: http://mpnpop.libsyn.com/
Still confused here. Any help would be most appreciated!

  • ITunes' podcasts no longer download (?)

iTunes' podcast downloads had for the most part been downloading fine until the partition that they had been on was deleted and I had to recreate the iTunes folder on that partition from a backup.
When booting from my primary drive using 10.3.9 I can no longer manually, or automatically, download podcasts. And oddly, even podcasts that exist on that partition will not even open in iTunes.
Yet... when I boot from 10.4.9 on a secondary drive which shares the same recreated partition with my iTunes folder (with the podcasts on it) I can download podcasts manually and automatically and it will play all of them without problems.
Common sense would simply be to delete the com.apple.iTunes.plist and maybe even the com.apple.iTunesHelper.plist files. (Which I did.) But this didn't work even though I did this with iTunes inactive and rebooted. So... it would seem that the next step would be to reinstall iTunes. So I deleted both the iTunes app and the preference files again and rebooted. Still my podcasts won't either manually download or automatically download and the really strange thing is that the ones that were downloaded while booted from 10.4.9 will not play when booted from 10.3.9.
I then resubscribed to the broadcasts (i.e. podcasts) and though the available podcast lists appear for each broadcast with "Get" next to each... when I click on them they won't download and I get the icon at the far left showing there is a problem.
Though this might be a prebind problem for the last issue... I don't see how that would affect iTunes not being capable of downloading podcasts from 10.3.9.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I've been listening to iTunes' podcasts for years without this problem so I can only imagine that it must have something to do with the fact that the partition had to be recreated (though I can't see how that fact would affect iTunes in this way when I DIRECTLY drop the podcast files on to the iTunes app icon... and they still will not play. This would bypass any prebind problem it would seem).
Thanks for reading this lengthy post.
Systems 10.3.9 and 10.4.9 on separate internal drives in the same box using iTunes 7.01 (7). Though I had been using iTunes 6.05 with 10.3.9 before this problem occurred. But when I couldn't solve the problem I upgraded to 7.01 with 10.3.9 -- since it was working with 10.4.9 I thought I'd give it a try -- but even that didn't solve the problem.)
    RonL
Mac OS X (10.3.9) 10.3.9 and podcasts don't work, but 10.4.9 and podcasts do work

It appears that I solved the problem. (I like to post my solutions so as to both not waste peoples time and so that if this ever happens to someone else it might help.)
My iTunes alias of the iTunes folder that is by default placed in the Music folder (i.e. ~/Music/iTunes) was broken after the partition where I had moved it was recreated.
Or... since I also forced a re-prebinding (not a simple 'update prebinding') it may have been this since my music in the same folder (on the recreated iTunes folder on the recreated partition) was playing fine and from 10.4.9 the podcasts played fine.
So it may have been both... but anyway... the podcasts are working fine again.

  • How can I get iTunes to not delete partially listened to podcasts?

I have Google searched this, asked all my Mac friends (for years) and I just don't know what I'm missing or why this happens....
I listen to a lot of podcasts, pretty much 8 hours a day and lots in the evenings after I get the kids to bed. So here's what my problem is. Lets say I have an episode that's an hour long. I get through half of it in the evening and when I plug my iPod Touch (gen 1, old school I know) before bed to sync up all new episodes overnight, the episode I have only partially listened to gets deleted.
From my understanding of things, a podcast that has been played, even if only for a few minutes of an hour long episode, is marked as "Played"....though the little blue icon in iTunes shows a half filled blue circle. Is there no distinguishing between a not listened to episode, a partially listened to episode (that I want to keep on the iPod until I finish it!), and a completely listened to episode? It's either been played or not, despite how much of the episode has been played?
Ideally I want iTunes to delete from my iPod anything I've listed to all the way to the end. That works great with the current settings I have. I don't want it to delete episodes I've partially listened to and I'd sure like it if it would not only NOT delete it, but leave a marker where I left off so I can sync new episodes over night but pick up at the 28 minute mark where I left off on the episode I was listening to the night before.
Now, when this occurs, I have to go into that podcast's list, click the partially listened to episode as not having been listened to, resync the ipod and download it to the ipod again...then try to remember where the heck I left off.
Anyone have any suggestions, fixes, links to forum posts on what to do to get this very simple idea to work?
Thank you in advance for reading this. I can't believe it's taken me 4+ years to finally post on my frustration...

After a couple of days, I'm noticing that the repeat(ing) offenders have more than 10 episodes, and seem to keep repeating them every time I sync.
They only show once in my phone and in the iTunes Podcasts, but through iTunes and looking at what's in my phone is when I see the repeats.
Even after I've marked a podcast as played, and deleted it from within my phone, as well as telling iTunes to delete the played episodes, it still shows multiples of the played episodes.
There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to it either. They aren't the newest ones either.

  • Why doesn't iTunes know when I've listened to a podcast on my iPhone?

    Hey Guys
Here's a problem that's always plagued my apple experience. Today I downloaded and listened to several podcasts at work. When I came home itunes has no reccord of these podcasts ever being downloaded or ever listened too. I hate it!!!!
I don't know if I'm missing something here but it's kind of a pain in the but because I have to manually go into itunes and "mark them as played". I'd really like it if I listened to a podcast on any of my devices, they would all talk to eachother. That's one of the detials I'e always liked about apple is that all their pieces work well together, except this.
Does anyone know of a solution?
    Thanks
    Alex

Select setup as "New", the next screen should prompt you to rename your phone. Just name it what you already have it named. After that, you should be able to sync/backup and all of your data & settings will still be exactly as you've already set them up on your phone. That message is more threatening than what really happens.

I submit podcast 37 hours after the in the itunes search not, and don't receive the email and feedback.

1、Apple account can submit a podcast, through the account information whether can view has been submitted a list, and a list of the corresponding state (such as: to review, through audit, audit not through).thanks!

  • With iTunes 10, Computer Still Freezing When Podcasts are Downloading

For the last several versions of iTunes, my computer has been slowing down a LOT while podcasts are downloading, especially when a new iT version is first installed. Then things improve over time. Now, with iTunes 10.1.1.4, it's horrendous. ITunes takes forever to open, and then causes my computer to become completely unresponsive. It doesn't respond to mouse or keyboard inputs, so I can't minimize it or shut it down.
Sometimes when that happens, I can't even open Task Manager, but when I can, it indicates that iTunes is using between 95 and 98% of CPU. In that circumstance, I can't even shut down iTunes with TM. After 15 or 20 minutes and all the podcasts have downloaded, I'm able to use my computer again, even with iTunes open.
It happens with all podcasts, but obviously it's more of a problem when a big pcast is downloading.
Today, I got the famous blue screen of death. All my programs had frozen and I was trying to shut down iTunes. The blue screen said "kernel data inpage error," whatever that means.
With past versions, I've tried uninstalling and re-installing iT, but that has not helped.
All my other programs are working fine. Today I ran CCCleaner, AdAware, RegCure and Malware Bytes, but nothing changed. My McAfee anti-virus max scanning time is 10 seconds.
Any idea what could be going on here? Or how to begin troubleshooting this mess?

    Hi,
finally worked! I found this post and it has finally worked I understand it is the same as WHATHECK's answer so thanks WHATHECK!
You have to be certain that you have backed up your Library's and Playlists and that you are doing the one in the root (if like me you use a HD any old library/playlists instead of deleting them put them some were safe just incase and make sure you are re-creating the library from your root folder i.e user/music/itunes

    Good luck!

  • ITunes no longer syncs partially listened-to podcasts with my iPod

Hey, everyone. Since I downloaded the new iTunes 11, I've run into a problem with the podcasts I listen to. I subscribe to a bunch of podcasts, many of which are quite lengthy. For that reason, I often can't listen to the whole podcast in a single day. However, with the new iTunes, if I sync up my iPod while partway through a podcast, the iPod loses the partially listen-to podcast. It's as if the software assumes that since I've listened to part of it, I don't want it to sync anymore.
This is, of course, not the case. Is there a setting somewhere that I can toggle to make iTunes give me ALL my podcasts, regardless of whether I've listened to part of them (or even all all of them)? In short, I want my podcasts folder in iTunes to match what's on my iPod, not have iTunes make guesses about what I'll want.
    Thanks for any help!

OK, figured this out and wanted to post the solution in case anyone else experiences this.
When you plug in your iPod, iTunes should start up automatically and sync. A button, "iPod," should appear at the top of the iTunes player, just below the search window. Click it (but not the eject symbol on it).
This brings up the iPod control settings. Along the top menu, there will be several submenu options: "Summary," "Music," "Movies," "TV Shows," "Podcasts," etc. Clock "Podcasts."
Here there will be a radio button next to "Sync Podcasts." Make sure that is checked. There is also a radio button next to "Automatically include..." Click that to on as well. Then, if you want iTunes to STOP deleting partially listened-to podcasts, make sure the options in the two drop-down menus say "all" and "all podcasts." Thus, you'll end up with: "Automatically include all episodes of all podcasts."
Hope this helps. The new iTunes is far from user-friendly.

  • Itunes in my Ipad only gives me three options: itunes U, Podcasts and download. What do I do?

iTunes in my iPad only gives me three options: iTunes U, Podcasts and downloads (which, by the way, doesn't go beyond the terms and conditions). How do I get the rest of the options?

Well, Meg, I'm more than sorry too. It is not our intention to violate any terms. We are only trying to find a viable and legal way to be able to enjoy the full potential of our iPad and, of course, pay for it as expected. Even when I'm at fault for not doing some research before buying it, it is certainly unfortunate to discover that we won't be getting our money's worth after all. If you ever hear about this limitation changing, please, let me know. Thank you for all your help.
