Itunes Wont Delete

Ok so I reformatted my imac and had my itunes folder on a external hard drive. I copied the folder to my hard drive and put the original in the trash. When I deleted trash all files deleted but the main Itunes Music folder stayed. I tried hard deleting it with apple key (i also tried option click incase it wasnt apple key click) to delete it and it is still there. It gives me no error message either. Can anyone help?

Make sure iTunes isn't open. Even better, log out, then back in as someone else. Navigate to your trash folder and empty it from there. You can also download a shareware utility called What's Keeping Me? from here: http://www.hamsoftengineering.com/products/wkm/wkm.html
You can run it, then search for what's using the file. Quit whatever's using the file, and try again to delete it.

  • ITunes wont delete, needs re-install but keep getting error message.

I have a Dell XPS M1710 and running the latest version of iTunes.
Well, I had a problem with the DVD drive in the laptop and one of the tech guys edited the registry remotely and re-installed the DVD drive.
Now iTunes is showing this error message when I start it up.
    Itunes Setup Assistant
    Warning!
The registry settings used by the iTunes drivers for importing and burning CD's and DVD's are missing. This can happen as a result of installing other Cd burning software. Please re-install iTunes.
Well.... I un-installed then re-installed. Forgot something and un-installed again. Deleted the iTunes folder and quicktime folder in the Add/Remove programs and in the Program Files. then the iTunes folder in the Music Folder.
I got this error message again, and keep getting it when I run iTunes.
    How can I fix this?

First and foremost, NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER let anyone edit your registry remotely without asking him exactly what he is doing and why. There are two rules to editing the registry.
    #1. DO NOT
#2. If you must break rule #1, BACKUP
Sounds like the Dell tech guy forgot both of them.
If you know which "other" software was installed, you can try uninstalling it. If you are sufficiently tech-savvy, you can try to discover which keys they are talking about and edit them in the registry editor, refer to the above rules.
You can always try calling Dell back and have them fix what they broke. They are supposed to keep detailed, accurate records of all maintenance and repairs they perform.
Try re-installing without uninstalling. I know, SHUDDER, but by now it probably will not hurt. Are you still running with the original OS, and is the image restore option still available? If so you can try backing up your data and re-installing the OS to its original config. This is not a great option, but it is a next-to-LAST resort.
Absolute LAST resort, brick the system, re-install everything. Definitely a baby-with-the-bathwater solution, but if nothing else works........
Hopefully something in here will help. Happy New Year

  • TS1717 my itunes wont open , any advice to get it to open ? ive already tried deleting it and reinstalling but nothing seems to work.

my itunes wont open, please help. ive already tried deleting it and reinstalling it but nothing seems to work.

Yes there is.  You apparently have Hardware damage inside the iPhone from dropping it.  You would need to take it into an Apple Store and Pay for an exchange unit, which Apple will do; Apple's Warranty does NOT include replacement for "accidental damage", so the Exchange is not free.

  • TS1474 I have had to restore my pc to a place back in time when it worked correctly, this meant thad iTunes was deleted. I have downloaded the latest version if iTunes but my Ipad wont sync. I get a message saying this Ipad is sycned with another iTunes l

I have had to restore my pc to a place back in time when it worked correctly. This meant that iTunes was deleted. I have now downloaded the latest version of iTunes but I cant sync my iPad with it. I get the message that this iPad is synced with another iTunes Library and cant sync to this one.  Thankfully all my music library is on iPad. I would be grateful for some help on this issue

Its solved I just restored it to that point

  • The latest itunes wont run on my computer and has deleted my whole itunes

I began to download the latest itunes as it said i had to, to sync with my ipod. So, as this was downloading it said that an older version has been found and then deleted my whole itunes worth of 1500 songs, which 300 at least of the songs were purchased. I thought ok, this will now at least download the latest itunes and i can re download the songs on itunes, however, everytime i continue to dowload itunes again, i click run and it goes through the process but nothing is coming up on my desktop. I am disgusted with my whole itunes being deleted because the new itunes struggled to download. does any body have any suggestions?

I've got the 2nd gen iTouch and every time I try to sync it simply says "unknown error(13019)" and that that it can't sync. I thought it was my protection software so I completely disabled and tried again, no luck, tried changing cables in case it got damaged some magical way, no luck, I've tried restarting, no luck, it was working fine before the update to 9.1 and now I can't do anything between my iTouch and my computer. I'm running windows Vista home premium, haven't updated that lately so there's no change from when it was working there. the only change to my comp since this new iTunes came out was the new iTunes. please help! or put out a fix, or god I don't care give me a link to the old iTunes and tell me how to get it to revert to that...

Itunes wont open and when re-installed received this msg: Service Apple mob device failed to start.  You have insufficent privileges to start system svc.  Help?

Download Itunes from Apple.com, not from within Itunes.
Redo the install, following the below procedure.   However, when you re-install Itunes,  right click and run the install as administrator.   For Win 7, you have to hold down the cntrl and shift keys when you right click and then "run as administrator" will be an option.
Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (Vista, Win 7 & later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
    Please note:
Some users may need to follow all the steps in whichever of the following support documents applies to their system. These include some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.

  • One of my apps is "waiting" for an update.  Its been "waiting" for 4 days.   It wont delete (so I can re load it).   Sadly its not in i tunes as I put it on after the last sync and it wont for some reason sync either.   Any ideas?

One of my apps (actually on my daughters i phone 5) has been "waiting for 4 days to update.   Rebooting doesnt cure it nor does trying to delete it - it wont delete.   I have looked at her i tunes account but she hasnt sync that for ages and the actual app isnt in i tunes but just on the phone.  For some reason the syncing isnt working either in realtion to this app. There is adeqaute memory - good strong wifi signal.   Any ideas??

Download the app on iTunes under her account (you've already paid - you won't have to again), then sync the app across to the phone that way and it should clear it up.
It's possible the app is too large to do over the air and it started on wifi but wasn't able to continue and got corrupted.

All the icons are on the desktop, but itunes wont open when double clicked. I do not get any error message, only hour glass appears for a few seconds and then its gone. I turned off NIS before installing, removed temp files, deleted previous downloads, restarted computer, updated windows, turned off firewall - nothing has worked so far. Any suggestions !!!

    hi Singh!
is that Norton Internet Security 2005 that you've got? if so, let's first check up on this issue:
iTunes 6 won't open on a Windows computer if firewall software is not up-to-date
... but if no joy with that, let's try the trusty Lorraine M technique:
    Lorraine M: NIS/itunes problem rectified
but if no joy with either of those, we'd better check up on this issue, which can produce the same symptoms you're reporting (no error messages whatsoever and a "two-second hourglass"):
iTunes for Windows doesn't open after upgrading
    keep us posted

yes, I tried that document first but it did not work.  I couldn't even open itunes in safe mode at all.  I have reistalled safari and repaired quicktime, I've deleted all itunes software and reinstalled, I've googled fixes and tried them all.  Nothing works.  I tried creating another user account, didn't work.  I can now open itunes, but I have to double click the icon and walk away from the computer.  It take 10 or 15 minutes to open, will sync my ipod once, then locks up and I have to reboot.  Any other suggestions?

  • Itunes wont open-reinstall doesnt solve

itunes wont open and when i try it says it cant open b/c some of its required files are missing and to reinstall itunes. so i went to this website and d/l it again and clicked repair. that didnt work. then i tried uninstalling/deleting everything and re-installing it and both when i tried repairing and re-installing altogether, a message came up having to do with quicktime..it read something like : quicktime error: -3
    HELP!

For the QT error -3, I'd try the standalone QT install first.
top fixes for a new iTunes install/upgrade are
    - turning off security software such as Norton before the install as Apple suggests
    - installing QuickTime standalone, not regular
    http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/standalone.html
    - setting up Norton to allow iTunes
    - scanning for malware with ewido (Free at www.ewido.net/en/)
    - last but not least, using MSCONFIG to find Windows conflicts

  • Accidentally took off quick time player and Itunes wont open now

so I have a pentium 3 windows 2000 IBM laptop
    terrible i know
i was trying to get more memory onto my computer by deleting programs i didnt need and a supposed "computer wiz" told me that i didnt need quick time player to run Itunes.
so i took it off and now Itunes wont even open. a message pops up saying that i need to reinstall Itunes
because i have such an old computer (and buying a new one isnt an option right now) the newest version of quick time player isnt compatible with my computer
i tried downloading an older version of quicktime and that hasnt worked either
so my fear is that if i unistall and then reinstall Itunes that
    a) i will lose all my music
    and
    b) there wont be a version of Itunes i can download since i have such an old computer
    any ideas or suggests?

Uninstalling the iTunes program should not affect your music folder however to be sure nothing goes wrong you should backup you music before starting. You might also want to have a look at this page, it refers to XP but you should be able to adapt it to 2000: Removing iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components
You can get the highest version of iTunes that will work with Windows 2000 at this link: iTunes 7.3.2 for Windows 2000

  • ITunes wont start up

Hi, i had a look on this answer to a topic : itunes wont start :
+The QuickTime problem is most likely causing the iTunes launch problem. So let's try swapping out your QuickTime again taking a few additional explicit precautions.+
    +Head into your Add/Remove programs. uninstall QuickTime.+
+Next, we’ll manually remove any leftover program files and folders.+
+1. On the Start menu, click My Computer (or double-click My Computer on the Desktop).+
+2. In My Computer, open Local Disk.+
    +3. Open Program Files.+
+4. Right-click on the QuickTime folder and click Delete from the shortcut menu.+
    +5. Navigate to C:\Windows\system32\.+
+6. Remove the files QuickTime.qts and QuicktimeVR.qtx. (If “Hide filename extensions for known file types” is enabled on the PC, then those two files will appear as “QuickTime” and QuickTimeVR”.)+
    +7. Restart your computer.+
+Next, we'll get a fresh copy of QuickTime into your PC by doing a repair install of itunes.+
+Switch off antivirus and antispyware applications prior to the repair install.+
+Go into Add/Remove and select itunes. Click "Change" and then click "Repair".+
but when it comes to install/uninstall an error comes out : An error ocured while installation
and i cant get rid of it. Pls help. Any ideas? Thx. J

but when it comes to install/uninstall an error comes out : An error ocured while installation
Let's try getting the program uninstalled by other means then.
Download and install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility:
Description of the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility
Now run the utility (“Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up”), select any QuickTime entries in the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, and then click “Remove”.
Next, we’ll manually remove leftover program files and folders.
    1. On the Start menu, click My Computer (or double-click My Computer on the Desktop).
    2. In My Computer, open Local Disk.
    3. Open Program Files.
    4. Right-click on the QuickTime folder and click Delete from the shortcut menu.
    5. Navigate to C:\Windows\system32\.
    6. Remove the files QuickTime.qts and QuicktimeVR.qtx. (If “Hide filename extensions for known file types” is enabled on the PC, then those two files will appear as “QuickTime” and QuickTimeVR”.)
    7. Restart your computer
Does the repair install go through properly now? Or do you get another error message when you try the repair install?
