IUser class not recognized in JSP page

Hi All,
           I am trying to get the roles of the user logged in. I am getting the user name by using
IUserContext userContext = request.getUser();
String firstName = userContext.getFirstName();
How to get the roles of the user. When i am using IUser it is giving errors. I even included com.sap.security.api.jar file. But still it is not working.
Can somebody help me sort this problem.
Thank you,
Surendra.

Hi Surendra,
You can convert your IUserContext to IUser like this:
com.sapportals.portal.security.usermanagement.IUserFactory userFactory = WPUMFactory.getUserFactory();
        com.sapportals.portal.security.usermanagement.IUser eP5User = userFactory.getEP5User(userContext);
Use IRoleFactory.getRolesOfUser(eP5User.getUniqueID(), true); method to get all assigned user roles recursively.
IRoleFactory roleFactory = UMFactory.getRoleFactory()
roleFactory.getRolesOfUser(eP5User.getUniqueID(), true);

    Thank you for your valuable feedback duffymo. Could
    you explain a little what you mean by "Putting .class
    files in the Tomcat examples directory is a really bad
    idea in the long run". Also, could you direct me to
    some source where I can find more information on
    creating WAR files keeping in mind that I am a
    beginner.
    Thanks.But putting your web apps into WAR files, you can have quite a few different web apps running on the tomcat server as compared to if u place your files into the default webapp folder, u can only have 1 web app running.
    For creating WAR file, the easiest way is to use an IDE like JBuilder.

    Hi here is solution,
    later I will put a project for this solution, right now I am really busy with ADF implementation.
    core changes is to solve my problem:
        byte[] buffer = new byte[image.getBufferSize()];
        int nread;
        vo.remove();
        while ((nread = is.read(buffer)) != -1) {
          os.write(buffer);
        }All code as below:
    Servlet Code*
      public void doGet(HttpServletRequest request,
                        HttpServletResponse response) throws ServletException,
                                                             IOException {
        String appModuleName =
          "his.model.ModuleAssetMgt";
        String appModuleConfig =
          "TempModuleAssetMgt";
      String imgno = request.getParameter("imgno");
        if (imgno == null || imgno.equals(""))
          return;
        String voQuery =
          "select ITEM_IMAGE from MM_ITEMIMAGE where IMAGE_NO = '" + imgno + "'";
        String mimeType = "gif";
        ApplicationModule am =
          Configuration.createRootApplicationModule(appModuleName,
                                                    appModuleConfig);
        am.clearVOCaches("TempView2", true);
        ViewObject vo = null;
        String s;
          vo = am.createViewObjectFromQueryStmt("TempView2", voQuery);
        // Run the query
        vo.executeQuery();
        // Get the result (only the first row is taken into account
        Row product = vo.first();
        BlobDomain image = null;
        // Check if a row has been found
        if (product != null) {

  • Problem during call java class (model layer) from jsp page (view layer)

    I created new Fusion web application so I have now to parts in the application navigator (model, viewcontroller)
    I want to write java class in the Model part as following:
    package persistence;
    import java.sql.Connection;
    import java.sql.DriverManager;
    import java.sql.PreparedStatement;
    import java.sql.ResultSet;
    import java.sql.SQLException;
    import java.sql.Statement;
    public class DBManager {
    Connection connection = null;
    public DBManager() {
    super();
    public void init() {
    try {
    // Load the JDBC driver
    String driverName = "oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver";
    Class.forName(driverName);
    // Create a connection to the database
    String serverName = Constant.DB_SERVER_NAME;
    String portNumber = Constant.DB_PORT_NUMBER;
    String sid = Constant.DB_SID;
    String url =
    "jdbc:oracle:thin:@" + serverName + ":" + portNumber + ":" +
    sid;
    String username = Constant.DB_USER_NAME;
    String password = Constant.DB_PASSWORD;
    connection = DriverManager.getConnection(url, username, password);
    System.out.println("*");
    System.out.println(connection.getCatalog());
    } catch (ClassNotFoundException e) {
    System.out.println("Could not find the database driver");
    } catch (SQLException e) {
    System.out.println("Could not connect to the database");
    e.printStackTrace();
    and wrote JSP page in the view controller part as following :

  • Images are not updated in jsp page

    Hi experts,
    I have developed a website for show events and display images of the event, when the user saves the title of the event and event content these things are go to database and at the same time i am creating a directory on the server in which user can upload manually(as user's demand).
    but after pasting the images in the directory when i test for the image page, the content and title are shown(content and title are coming from database) but images are not, images are shown after minutes. I have checked that image's path are right. And when i type same path on the address box of my browser, it shows...
    The requested resource (/xxxxn/image/NewsImg/xxxxxx) is not available.But after minutes, like 30 to 40 or after i restart my system, it is showning me.
    I have disabled the page cache of my jsp pages.. but problem remain. i am using tomcat 6.0.26 for testing.
    Please guide me how can i resolve this issue.
    Thanks
    Shams

    Ha ha ha,
    I have done it myself...
    what i am doing is to, generate a random number by using random class and attach it with image's path like "url rewriting" technique. Like this:
    Random ran = new Random();
    String imgPath = "./img/img_file_name?" +ran.nextInt(99999);and pass this to the "img" element of html.
    I think that this trick forces browser to recollect the data from server and not to use cached data.
    But my question with experts is that... I have used on jsp page these code:
    response.setHeader( "Pragma", "no-cache" );
    response.setHeader( "Cache-Control", "no-cache" );
    response.setDateHeader( "Expires", 0 );to tell browser not to catch my page, then why browser is caching my page??
    Thanks
    Shams

  • System.out from Java class not output to JSP

    I am using JSP to make a Java API web accessible. I include (package) java classes that write error messages to standard out when they catch an error. Works fine on the command line. Problem occurs when using in JSP. I include them with a page directive (importing the package) rather than use them as beans, since they do so much more than beans do, and since I use many of the classes in a single page.
    i.e.
    <%@ page import="OPS.*" %>
    When errors occur, messages to "standard out" (system.out) don't appear in the html output of the JSP. I don't know where they are going (they aren't in the web server's error log), but they aren't going where I expected them to (browser window).
    I figured that standard out was the browser (httpServletResponse). Where am I going wrong here?
    Basically, I have a class that connects to a database (call it db) and does queries/updates. I have a class (call it employee) that uses the db class. I have a jsp page that instantiates the employee class and executes method calls. The code in the db class that outputs SQL error messages (db class instantiated by employee class) never gets put in the browser window. Nor in the server log, nor the console.
    How can I get system.out calls in classes db and employee to get output to the browser? The JSP outputs all other code and is not freezing nor not flushing the buffer.
    Thanks!

    I also use an Iplanet over which I have little control. But I can log on via telnet. If I log on (I use Reflection) and run my pages, the errors show in the Reflection window. If you have telnet access to the server, you might want to give this a try.
    Another alternative would be to add a few lines to your classes that allow you to pass a reference to the jsp StringWriter from your jsp and use that to output the errors to the browser.

  • Setting Java class parameters for a JSP page

    Hi,
    I have a Java class that has a reference to a Session Id. I want to call a JSP from the class and set the session id to a String variable in the JSP. I am using a URL class to call the JSP. After the actual URL is passed to the URL constructor, I am appending the "?m_sessionId=e_session Id" at the end of the URL. In my JSP, I have the m_sessionId String parameter that i want to set e_sessionId to. What should i do in my JSP to set this? Any answers will be very helpful and I'd like to offer many thanks in advance
      public void loadSessionStuff(String sessionID){
       String e_sessionId = URLEncode.encode(sessionID);
       URL url = new URL("http://localhost:9000/MyJSP.jsp?m_sessionId="+e_sessionId);
       .....MyJSP.jsp looks something like this
       <%!
          String m_sessionId;
          public void setSessionId(){
           m_sessionid = request.getParameter("e_sessionId");
           public String getSessionId(){
               return m_sessionId;
            other stuff....
        %>Is this the correct way to do things. It's not working.
    Regards
    R

    Hi Rahul,
    Yeah, i got that resolved. Do you know how i can get the thing in reverse gear. What i mean is i can successfully call and get the JSP to do things for me from my Java bean. What about sending stuff back to my bean?
    I want to send the List back to my calling class so i can work with it.
    Thanks
    Regards
    Jeeves

  • Bean not found by JSP page

    Hi! All
    I am using a bean in my jsp page. When I open the jsp page, I get an error that "Class SQLBean.DbBean not found". Please help. I have my bean class compiled and saved under C:\tomcat\webapps\examples\WEB-INF\classes
    Here is the bean class:

    Thanks in advance

  • Tag library 'not found' in jsp page. why?

    I'm having a big problem with jsp/tag libraries using oc4j. One
    particular
    tag library is not being 'found' for some mysterious reason. The
    particulars follow:
    kwTags.jar is the jar file containing the tag classes. It definitely
    exists in WEB-INF/lib directory.
    tld def. in web.xml:
    <taglib>
    <taglib-uri>/kw</taglib-uri>
    <taglib-location>/WEB-INF/tlds/kwTagLib.tld</taglib-location>
    </taglib>
    The tld file definitely exists in the /WEB-INF/tlds directory.
    The definition of the tag lib at the top of the kwTagLib.tld follows:
    <taglib>
    <tlib-version>1.0</tlib-version>
    <jsp-version>1.2</jsp-version>
    <short-name>kw</short-name>
    <uri>/kw</uri>
    <display-name>kwTagLib</display-name>
    <small-icon></small-icon>
    <large-icon></large-icon>
    <description></description>
    The tag reference in jsp page is:
    <%@ taglib uri="/WEB-INF/tlds/kwTagLib.tld" prefix="kw" %>
    The development environment is Eclipse Workbench 5.1.0 and Eclipse
    v.3.2.1
    JDK is: j2sdk1.4.2_04
    All other tag libs (Struts v.1.3.5) are found and work correctly. This
    is the only tag library that
    a problem.

    By the way, your declaration of taglib in web.xml can be deleted if you are not using that taglib-uri "/kw" in your jsp.

  • Changes not reflecting in JSP page

    Recently we upgraded our server from orion to oc4j.When on the client side any changes were made in the java bean
    its not reflecting immediately in the corresoponding jsp page or the application. We tried to look at all angels like class file in web-inf its changing there.The changes are taking place only after restarting the server. Pl give us valuable suugestion
    Regards
    Kumar

    It is correct that the change in the JavaBean is not taking effect until you restart the server (as far as I know anyway).
    If you are using version 9.0.4 or using a version that uses JDP 1.4.x try using the HotSwap tool which can dynamically reload classes on the fly. Excellent tool for development but not sure if it is recommended for a Production environment.
    Also, if you are using JDK 1.4.x, try using JDeveloper 10g and it's excellent debugging tools for development, it will swap your classes into the running JVM if the debugger is switched on.

  • How to call a class method from a jsp page?

    Hi all,
    i would like to create a basic jsp page in jdev 1013 that contains a button and a text field. When clicking the button, i would like to call a method that returns a string into the text field.

    How do i go about this?
