Even though you're getting a different error message, try the "Error -50," "-5000," "8003," "8008," or "-42023" section in the Specific Conditions and Alert Messages: (Mac OS X / Windows) section of the following document:

  • While trying to instal Mountain Lion OS on my macbook pro, I got the error message that my HD was damaged and it reverted to my Lion OS. Why does this happen? I bought the OS online through the app store

While trying to instal Mountain Lion OS on my macbook pro, I got the error message that my HD was damaged and it reverted to my Lion OS. Why does this happen? I bought the OS online through the app store.

The Mountain Lion installer looks at your internal drive to make certain that it's error-free before continuing installation. You should have an application named "Install OS X Mountain Lion.app" in your Applications folder now so you shouldn't have to download it again. Do this...
Boot to your Lion recovery partition by holding down both the Command and the R keys while booting. Open Disk Utility from the Recovery partition and select your hard drive (usually named "Macintosh HD" unless you've renamed it) and click on Verify Disk. If you come up with any errors, click on Repair Disk. At the end of the cycle you will get a message that the disk was successfully repaired or a message that the hard drive could not be repaired.
If you're able to repair the disk, just reboot as normal and open the "Install OS X Mountain Lion.app" and the installation will proceed. If Disk Utility was unable to repair the disk, you need to get to your local Apple Store as soon as possible so that they can see if the disk is salvageable or beyond repair.
    Good luck,
    Clinton

  • Help I upgraded to 6 OS and everything was working ok until yesterday and now it is giving me error message that I cannot connect to iTunes. I tried the reset thing and changing the date but still not working.

Help I have an iPad 2 and recently had to upgrade to 6 OS. All was well until yesterday when I received N error message that I cannot connect to iTunes.  I tried the reset and changing the date and neither worked. Does anyone have another solution that works?  I see others are having the same problem.

    Saw this on another post.
Applecare Senior Advisor Txx Bxxx (I have his contact info in an email he just sent) just confirmed with me that the problem people are having with the App Store not loading is an apple issue with there servers, ITS NOT YOUR IPAD so don't go restoring it!   It's not happening to everyone however but they are looking into it, its really hit or miss.

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
This works for some users. Not sure why.
Go to Settings>General>Date and Time> Set Automatically>Off. Set the date ahead by about a year. Then see if you can connect to the store.

  • Purchased a tv episode and won't download keep getting Error 8008. iTunes tells me its corrupt and need to redownload it, but everytime I do the error shows up...grrr..what do i do to make it download

Purchased a T.V episode and won't download. I keep getting Error 8008. iTunes just keeps telling me its corrupt and I need to go redownload it, but everytime I try to it just pops up with the Error 8008 message again.. How do I get the episode to download all the way.

Clear the contents of ...iTunes\iTunes Media\Download and try one more time.
If the problem recurs use the "report a problem" links in your account history and explain what has happened so far. There may be a problem with the source rather than your download of it.

  • I can't install yosemite, got the error message, that i have to use App Store to download it

I have been reinstalling OSX, but now i can't update to yosemite or install iMovie and iphoto again. I just get the message, that I have to use app store t download the programs, but i'm already using app store, any one who knows what to do? I already have the Mavericks installed.

    OS Recovery
Boot up from your computer by holding down the command+r keys.  This will take you to the recovery drive.
Select Disk Utility & hit Return.
In Disk Utility select the HD on the left & click on Repair Disk (bottom right).
When done, go back to your desktop by restarting your computer.  Try the AppStore again.  If still not working see if Yosemite can be downloaded from Apple's Download website.

  • I recently upgraded itunes. now i get the error message that itunes can't connect and the network connection has timed out

i keep getting an error message that states

Try temporarily disabling your firewall and see if you are then able to access the iTunes store.

  • HT4528 On my iPhone4s, the earpiece speaker is muffled and practically useless. I have had said speaker replaced and the problem was not solved.  The technician said that it may be due to something wrong with the software.  Help?

If there is no solution, there is money back.

Who replaced your speaker? If you have had the device worked on by a 3rd party repair shop, then you will need to go back there to see about help. If you are willing, you can try this http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1631, but as far as out of warranty work, since the phone has been opened, Apple won't touch it.

  • So i just got a new mac, and i am trying to sync my songs that i bought on itunes, and some of the worked, but a huge selection of them have a little exclamation mark beside it and it says it can't be downloaded, why?

so i just got a new mac, and i am trying to sync my songs that i bought on itunes, and some of the worked, but a huge selection of them have a little exclamation mark beside it and it says it can't be downloaded, why?

    Hello Pork Chop 2,
Congratulations on your new Mac!  It sounds like your purchased songs are not playing completely after you downloaded them.  I recommend to following steps for an issue like this:
    Symptoms
Occasionally, if a song purchased from the iTunes Store on a Mac or PC was not downloaded completely, the song may not play back fully. The song may abruptly stop during playback, and iTunes may start playing the next song in your library or playlist.
    Resolution
If iTunes in the Cloud is available in your country, try the following steps to resolve the issue:
Delete the purchased song that is exhibiting the problem from your iTunes library.
Click on the Purchased link in the iTunes Store to view your previously purchased music.
Download your previously purchased song from this list.
You can find the full article here:

    Best,

My purchases were corrupted and will not download, what do I do?, My purchases were corrupted and will not download, what do I do?

If restarting the computer and iTunes doesn't work you can try one of these suggestions.
    1. If items appear (maybe in grey or different from working songs) but don't play you can try to delete them from your library so they will no longer seem to be there to the iTunes store.
    a) select the item
    b) press option and delete key assuming a mac keyboard
    c) yes, send them to trash
    d) restart Itunes, go to store, check for available downloads, and select download all

  • New itunes download says file is corrupt and to reinstall

I KNEW I shouldn't upgrade, but I've been getting the notice to upgrade my iTunes for so long I finally went ahead...Well, since I did it over an hour ago I've been getting pop ups (I mean like a hundred of them by now) telling me that the copy of iTunes is corrupt or installed incorrectly and to re-install it.  I know NOTHING about all this stuff, but I imagine I'm getting that pop up every time it runs into what it considers a corrupt file.
I have music and covers that I've downloaded to computer then transfered them to my iPod (can you tell I know nothing?  I suspect I'm using all the wrong words), PLUS tons and tons of pictures and videos and I'm pretty sure the videos, and even some pictures I've edited, are being considered to be corrupt.  So it could be a huge number of files that it's seeing as corrupt.
I'm afraid to re-install iTunes, and I'm afraid to remove it for fear of losing my pictures and videos from my computer.  Is that possible?  The pictures and videos are in My Pictures on my computer.
The problem could also be the covers I've downloaded--through iTunes, mind you.
My questions, to boil it down, I think are:
What will I lose if I uninstall iTunes and reinstall it?  Will I lose what's in my computer, or just what's been downloaded to the iPod?
How can I find which files are corrupt, and once (if) I find them, can I just remove them from iTunes but leave them on my computer?
I hope this all makes sense.  If it doesn't, please ask me and I'll try to clarify.  Really appreciate any help you can offer.

Let's try a repair install of iTunes first.
Restart the PC. If you're using Vista or 7, now head into your Uninstall a program control panel, select "iTunes" and then click "Repair". If you're using XP, head into your Add or Remove Programs control panel, select "iTunes", click "Change" and then click "Repair".
Can you launch your iTunes now?

If anyone is reading this still looking for what caused the issue and how to fix it here is what I discovered.
The antivirus program our company uses, Bitdefender Antivirus Plus, was causing some of the PDF files not to open. After troubleshooting the different modules and settings the culprit was..
Scan SSL in Privacy Control Settings. Turning it OFF solved the problem and all the PDF files that previously would not open now open just fine. This issue has been sent to Bitdefender for them to review. If you use a different antivirus program and are having this issue try locating the Scan SSL setting and see if turning it off solves the problem.
