Iweb different question

I have 2 MacBook Pros (OS X Ver 10.9.5). I work on both and transfer files and folders back and forth. I copy iweb from Application Support. Suddenly I was unable to open files in iweb on one of the Macs. After much back and forth I now have the files open on the Mac. BUT now when I try to publish to local site - it is asking me where I want to save. The window is showing "Sites" and below "Shared" within that window there is a folder named "Images" and a grayed out index.html. This is the way the files disappeared before. So, until someone can offer advice I will keep iweb open in fear I will not only lose all my changes but undoubtedly lose the ability to open it again. The only way I know how to get to where iweb is stored is by going to the library by holding "option" in Go. Does not appear to be a way to do that with the window that is open. Thank you in advance for your learned advice

You want to put the domain file in a folder titled iWeb and put that folder in your Home/Library/Applications folder. You can publish the website to any folder you want on the hard drive.   I publish to a folder in my Documents folder titled "iWeb Sites".  It's all a matter of personal preferences.
Since you're running Mavericks there's a problem how the system handles the iWeb domain files in the Library folder.  For that reason you'll need to use this Automator workflow app I created to open the domain file for the first time:
To open your domain file in Lion, Mountain Lion or Mavericks or to switch between multiple domain files Cyclosaurus has provided us with the following script that you can make into an Applescript application with Script Editor. Open Script Editor, copy and paste the script below into Script Editor's window and save as an application.
do shell script"/usr/bin/defaults write com.apple.iWeb iWebDefaultsDocumentPath -boolean no"
delay 1
tell application "iWeb" to activate
You can download an already compiled version with this link: iWeb Switch Domain.
Just launch the application, find and select the domain file in your Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder that you want to open and it will open with iWeb. It modifies the iWeb preference file each time it's launched so one can switch between domain files.
WARNING: iWeb Switch Domain will overwrite an existing Domain.sites2 file if you select to create a new domain in the same folder.  So rename your domain files once they've been created to something other than the default name.
NOTE: In Lion and Mountain Lion the Home/Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible in Lion or Mt. Lion enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and press the Return key - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.
For Mavericks, 10.9 ,  go to your Home folder and use the View ➙ Show View Options menu to bring the this window:

    Welcome to the Apple community.
    You might try to see if you can change your security questions. Start here, change your country if necessary and go tomanage your account > Password and Security.
    I'm able to do this, others say they need to input answers to their current security questions in order to make changes, I'm inclined to think its worth a try, you don't have anything to lose.
    If that doesn't help you might try contacting Apple through Express Lane (select your country, navigate to iCloud help and enter the serial number of one of your devices)

  • Replace one div every time different questions

    Please could anybody help me with the following.
    I have one div (-> course interactions) with one question and several answers  (radio). Now I want that the next question comes in the same div (replace het content of the div). So I don't want a list of questions on the page, but only one div with one question (and every time a different question in the same div). How do I get this? Thanxs already for the help.

    I have the elearning suit (and also DW cs 5) on trail and was hoping that the course interaction (action manager) gives a solution. I want to make a online test with one div for every question with radio buttons (so not a list of questions on one page). With selecting the radio button the div must be replaced/swaped with a different question.

  • IPod Battery options - different questions

    I have a different question for you folks regarding the battery. I already know that the battery needs to be replaced, but my question has to do with what Apple will do.
    I've called several stores and have received different stories from each one. My iPod is the Fifth Generation and it's out of warranty. I have been told the following:
    For $59, Apple will take my iPod and replace it with one that has a new battery. It's a refurbished iPod, but the battery is new.
    The cost to replace the battery is $249.
    And a few other options.
    What I want to know is... what is the truth? I just want to get the battery replaced.

    If you feel comfortable with it I suggest replacing the battery yourself. Search online and you can find batteries for less than having Apple replace it. Don't go for the cheapest one...find one that looks reliable. I don't understand why people would allow Apple to charge them to send them a refurbished product when all they want is the battery replaced. I would want MY iPod back with a new battery, I don't want a different one. This is a poor business practice, but hey what should we expect, Apple tells us what we can and cannot do. And before people go off on me being an Apple hater I own an iPod, iPhone and Mac Pro - I just hate being told what I can and cannot do with the product I paid for.

  • Chinese Character Printing in Smartform (Different Question)

    Hi all,
    Can anyone explain to me further the OSS Note 776507 that Anji Reddy Vangala recently posted?  It involves the preview and printing of different character sets.  Currently I've managed to preview my form correctly, but it still prints out #'s.  Do I need to re-assign the fonts to the printer device or something, or do I need to use a different printer?  The printer I am currently using is an HP 2100.  Please please help, anyone?
    <b>EDIT:</b> Probably a better question would be how to map the conversion font of CNSONG to something that can be read by the printer?
    A copy of the note for everyone's reference:
    OSS Note: 776507
    Symptom
    Documents printed via SAPscript or SmartForms do not print with correct special characters, e.g. ### prints instead of Japanese or Russian characters. What to do?
    Other terms
    SAPscript, SmartForms, printing, device types, OTF
    Reason and Prerequisites
    Help required to choose proper fonts in a SAPscript or SmartForm
    Solution
    When using SAPscript or SmartForms to print (or email or fax) a form from a business application, many factors influence the outcome of the actual text within the form. All these factors must be checked in order to ensure a correct printout:
    1) The language version of the form used to produce the printout.
    Example: If you want to print a French invoice, you need to have a FR version of your SAPscript or SmartForms invoice form RVINVOICE01. And the application program must specify the corresponding language key (FR) when calling the SAPscript or SmartForms API.
    2) The font selections specified in the form (possibly also in a SAPscript style or SmartStyle used in a form).
    Example: In a SAPscript form or a SmartStyle you need to specify HELVE if you want to print German text in Helvetica (or similar) font. If you want to print Japanese text, HELVE is not a valid choice but you need to specify a Japanese font like JPMINCHO in your Japanese form.
    3) The output character set of the device type
    Every printer in transaction SPAD has a "device type" assigned. Device types used by the spooler for printing support only one single specific output character set. All text from the form has to be converted (using SAP's built-in character conversion mechanism) to this output character set.
    A character set can typically support either a single language (e.g. Shift-JIS which supports only Japanese) or a set of languages (e.g. ISO 8859-1, which supports Western-European languages). It is possible that a given language (such as German) can be supported by several output character sets, e.g. you may use either ISO 8895-1 (Latin-1) or ISO 8859-2 (Latin-2) to represent German text. This is so because both character sets contain the special characters used in German.
    Example: HPLJ4000 is a HP LaserJet device type supporting the ISO 8859-1 (Latin-1) character set. ISO 8859-1 can be used to represent e.g. Dutch, English, French, German, Spanish, Swedish but NOT Russian or Japanese.
    As a consequence, it is ok to use HPLJ4000 to print English, German French etc. but not for Japanese or Russian.
    4) The set of available printer fonts for a given device type
    When formatting a document, SAPscript and SmartForms perform an automatic mapping of the font definitions in the form (e.g. "HELVE 14 point bold") and the available printer fonts of the device type. A replacement printer font is chosen, should the specified font selection not be available in the device type. Now this replacement can be problematic if a language-specific font, such as Chinese CNSONG, is specified in a form and it gets replaced by a font which does not support this language, e.g. COURIER.
    To solve this problem, font families in SE73 have language attribute assigned, e.g. some fonts are characterized as being suitable only for certain languages. And when a replacement has to be chosen because the original font from the form is not available in the device type, a replacement font is chosen which has the same language attributes.
    If no fonts for the language in question exist in the device type, the resulting font will not be able to print the special characters and you will see "wrong" output characters in the printout.
    Note on SAPscript/SmartForms Print Preview:
    The OTF Print Preview available in Windows GUI (e.g. from transaction SP01) will sometimes not show the "wrong" characters which appear on the final printout. Here is the reason: since the Print Preview runs in Windows environment, it will use Windows fonts to represent the actual printer fonts. A Windows font typically has more available characters (i.e. covers more character sets) than are actually available in a printer's resident font.
    A typical example where the Print Preview will differ from the printout is here: if you have a Chinese PCL5 printer such as CNHPLJ4 and use the Western Latin font COURIER in your document, the print preview will show you Chinese characters if you (by accident) tried to format Chinese characters in COURIER font. This is because Windows will automatically choose a font that can output Chinese characters (which is actually not Courier). But when you print the job on an actual PCL5 printer with resident Western and Chinese fonts, the Courier font will not print any Chinese characters but Western special characters instead, because the printer's resident Courier font does not include Chinese characters.
    Rule of thumb: all Asian device types (e.g. CNHPLJ4, JPHPLJ4, JPPOST, KPHPLJ4) support not only Asian fonts but also COURIER, HELVE and TIMES fonts. But these Latin fonts can only be used to print English text, not Chinese/Japanese/Korean characters.
    Which fonts are suitable for a given language?
    Language(s): Font family to use in a form:
    Latin-1 (Western Europe/Americas) *******
    DE,EN,FR,ES,NL,SV COURIER, HELVE, TIMES
    (LETGOTH, LNPRINT)

    Verify your output by examining the OTF data
    When analysing printing problems of this type, be sure to check the OTF data which gets produced by SAPscript or SmartForms. OTF or "Output Text Format" is the intermediate page-description format generated from SAPscript or SmartForms. OTF will contain the final printer font names and character set/language identifiers which help to solve the problem. OTF will even name the form and the language of the form used to create the output.
    The easiest way to do this is to create a spool request from your application, run transaction SP01, use menu
    Goto->Display Requests->Settings
    and choose
    Display Mode: Raw
    Now display your spool request. If this is a SAPscript or SmartForms spool request, you will see OTF data. Each line represents one OTF command, every command starts with a 2-character cmd identifier and possibly some cmd parameters follow.
    Here is an excerpt from a sample OTF file where we highlight the most interesting commands:
    //XHPLJ8000 0700 00000000001
    IN04EALEXTEST_ZEBRA

    The 1st line with the // (Control) command reveals the device type usedto print: HPLJ8000
    //XHPLJ8000 0700 00000000001
    The 2nd line (IN = Info command) shows the name and (internal 1-char)language key of the form:
    IN04EALEXTEST_ZEBRA
    In this case it is the English (E = EN) SmartForm ALEXTEST_ZEBRA
    The OP-line (OP = Open Page) gives the page format used in the form, it is DINA4 Portrait orientation:
    OPDINA4 P 144 240 1683811906000010000100001
    The CP (CodePage) cmd shows the SAP system codepage used to code the text and the active language. In our case it is codepage 1100 and language E = EN = English.
    CP11000000E
    Finally, the FC-cmd (Font Call) lists a printer font selected within SmartForms. Please note that every SmartForm has a designated default SmartStyle under "Form Attributes->Output Options". In addition, every text node can have a SmartStyle attached (which will override the definitions from the default style for the text). In our case the resulting printer font that was selected is HELVE 12.0 pt bold-off, italic-off.

    Hi,
    there a different things to know.
    I produce sapscript forms with cinese and english characters for frontend / backend and archiv printing.
    Please check:
    Editor displays ###: You have to install the chinese language in your e.g. windows-system to display them.
    Script: You have to chose the the font family "CNSONG" (customized for chinese simplified and LATIN).
    Transaction I18N: May you have to set correct subfonts for the unicode areas (Cascading fonts, Standard is Courier).
    You can print in different ways:
    For archiv/PDF: Install the unicode truetype font with chinese characters for the pdf-converter.
    For Frontend: Use the Frontendprinter SAPWIN or SAPWIN*CF (Cascading Font) to send it to the gui (note: SAPLPD does not support it, use the newer technology.....)
    Backend printing: POSTSCRIPT is not yet implemented :-((
    PLease note: What you see in spool / print preview is a simulation of the possible print, but backend print is not frontend preview!!!!
    Regards,
    Christian

  • IWeb / DW question

    A friend of mine created a site in iWeb, which I am in the process of rebuilding in DW.
    We're under an extremely tight deadline and I'm concerned about one very specific point.
    I don't know much about iWeb, but when you click on one of his links, it brings up another page, but the URL at the top remains the same.
    When I rebuild, and have links to other pages, that won't be the case.
    However, since I'm hosting it somewhere else, with a different URL, it will say something different when you click on the link.
    Since time is of the essence, and this site will only matter for a few more days (it's for a local candidate for a school committee election on Tuesday), it could look bad if the URL gets all funky with different addresses than the actual candidates. Yet we don't have time for him to turn the URL over to me for my control, as it would need to propogate.
    He said that he can just point his URL to my new differently hosted homepage easily enough, however, when people click on the links, the URL will change.
    Is there a workaround so that it won't?
    Thanks a lot.
    John

    it seems like the previous designer was using domain masking. I would not recommend it for various reasons, but if "time is of the essence" then it may be a quick fix for you.

  • Iweb issue - question marks ??

    Hello
    I'm a new user to iweb and this is my first post.
    Basically I have been getting used to the iweb app for a few days now and have started putting a basic website tigether as a kind of online cv for the work I do.
    I currently have a small amount of web space (55meg) with my broadband account and have been using this to publish and test my web site.
    I have been using Safari, Firefox and Internet Explorer 5.2 on my G5 to view the web site.
    Generally everything looks fine, but the odd question mark symbol keeps popping up. Ironically the site seems to look best in IE, but question mark symbols show up in all three browsers.
    I wondered if anyone may be able to help with this ?
    Many thanks in advance
    Dual 1.8 G5   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

    Hi rdfmusic and welcome to the iWeb forum!
    Your problem is a common one when publishing to a non .Mac server but is easily fixed. Tom Gewecke has created a page that addresses this with the solution:
    http://homepage.mac.com/thgewecke/iwebchars.html
    Tom has also set up a page with links to a lot of tips on using iWeb:
    http://web.mac.com/thgewecke/iWeb/1/Tips.html
    Others have also put lots of other iWeb tips in their web sites, you can search in this forum for those who have been most helpful and click on the link to their sites.

  • Iweb url question

    Hello everyone,
    I am wondering if it's possible to create my own unique url name for my iweb site. I'm thinking of using godaddy.com or yahoo.com's domain hosting services to host my site for 2.99 a year, so that I could create my own domain name. Is this possible?
    Thanks,
    Steve

    Well, lessee, this all depends on how you want to do this.
    Are you already hosting your iWeb site on you .Mac account? If you are hosting your site of your .mac account the URL will probably look something like:
    "http://web.mac.com/<your.macnamehere>/iWeb/"
    All then you would need to do is to go to Godaddy.com and register a domain name (www.yourdomainname.com) and have godaddy.com forward that domain name to your .mac site.
    Once all this is set up, anyone visiting your site could go about it in 2 ways. First, they could just open a web browser and enter "http://web.mac.com/<your.macnamehere>/iWeb/" and get to your site.
    OR, they could enter the site name you registered (www.yourdomainname.com) and it would immediately forward the browser to "http://web.mac.com/<your.macnamehere>/iWeb/". For the rest of the time that person is browsing your site, all the URLs would look like your .mac url. This sounds to me like what you're asking for.
    Now, if you want to have your site fully hosted on "www.yourdomainname.com" without the URL changing to "http://web.mac.com/<your.macnamehere>/iWeb/" once you start browsing the site, then that's a whole different set of instructions, cause then you'd need to buy hosting space and manually upload your site to that server instead of just using iWeb's built in "publish to .mac" function.

    IM new to Mac so i wanted to free up some space on my HD. Will removeing iweb harm my system ? will it free up a decent amount of space ?
    Is removeing the app as easy as dragging the icon to the trash bin ?
    Thanks

    hi, i dont create web pages and never will, so can someone tell me if i can remove iweb 08 from my macbook air ?
    See your last question.
    IM new to Mac so i wanted to free up some space on my HD. Will removeing iweb harm my system ? will it free up a decent amount of space ?
    Select iWeb and type Cmd-I. It will show you the size of that application. Its' 339 MB.
    Is removeing the app as easy as dragging the icon to the trash bin ?
    Yes, in fact it's the same. The icon IS the application.
    BTW, the application is in the Application folder. Just in case you mistake the icon in the Dock.
    And in case you regret your decision, the iweb application is on your Install Disk.

  • Iweb/podcast question

    I created a podcast using Audacity. i forgot to put the artist name in the id3 tag. now when i go to iTunes the artist name says UNKNOWN. Who do i change this?
    i used iweb to make my website, and used the podcast page to post my podcast. the RSS feed was given to me by iweb.
    that is the only thing wrong with my podcast. do i need to edit the RSS feed? if i do, how do i do this?
    sorry for the newbie question.
    thanx,
    Mj Timothy Scott

    No, unfortunately not. Not through iWeb, not by any means. If any kind of media can be displayed in a browser - be it audio, video, or still images - it can be downloaded or saved locally by the viewer.
    It's the old adage...Where there's the will, there's a way.

  • IWeb Email Question

    when I insert the email icon and configure the email, when people press the icon it opens their email app filled in with my inserted address:
    1) does iWeb allow me to do a web-email that can be done online rather than with an email app
    2) is there a way to add a security so automatic email (spam) scans don't leave emails (like adding the feature to put in numbers/letters that pop up)?

    Actually, I did create a Gmail address for that. It does direct the email to that address if you click on the email icon.
    The question really meant to be sort of like that: When you use iWeb with Podcast etc so users can leave comments then whoever leaves a comment first has to type in the numbers/letters so automatic spamming can't spam that comment. Now with the email icon, can automatic spamming sent you emails there (since there is no such number/letters typing) or is there a way to activate that option also with emails?

  • IWeb Backup Question

    Hi all,
    I apologize if this question has been asked, but it's late and I kinda was hoping there was a quick answer.
    I have a small website, nothing spectacular, that I created and mess around with on occasion. I made it with iWeb, and published it to my .Mac account. I had a hard drive crash a few weeks ago, and of course, I didn't have everything backed up like I should have. Now, since the site and it's pages are up in my 'sites' folder, it's still online, but my question is this: After downloading that folder from my .Mac account, how do I open it in iWeb again? When I open iWeb now, it just starts up from scratch.
    Thanks much,
    Brian H.

    Hi Brian,
    You can't reopen that site again in iWeb. You see, iWeb doesn't open html files, like mainstream web applications do. It generates html when you initiate a Publish command, and it draws the resources necessary for this from a single file, Domain.sites. This Domain file contains all of your work, created in the iWeb app. It lives on your hard drive in your Home folder's Library/Application Support/iWeb/Domain.sites.
    This is the file you will backup from now on to prevent this from happening again.

  • Different questions regarding FMS 3.5

    Hi,
    I'm a newby to FMS and I have several questions ;-).
    I'm planning an livestream. To get as much viewer as possible my plan ist to stream with 3 different bitrates. This works great ;-). But within my tests a few problems/ideas came up...
    1. FMS is not recording the stream. I used Auto-DVR as well as manual start stop. I also prefixed mp4: ... any ideas? Is it perhaps because it is not the "interactive" one?
    2. Is there a _simple_ possibility to to enable something like "autoquality" (between the 3 streams) on the client side? So that the best solution for the local connection is chosen?
    3. Is there a simple possibility to get viewerstats?
    Thanks a lot for your help

    Hi,
    1. You can record the livestream on the server by creating a custom application and doing a server side record. Your main.asc would be something like this :
    var pubCount = 0;
    application.onConnect=function(clientObj){
              trace("          on connect ");
              return true;
    application.onDisconnect=function(clientObj){
              trace("          on disconnect ");
    application.onPublish = function(clientObj,streamObj){
      trace("          in application publish : " + streamObj.name);
      if(pubCount <= 1)
           streamObj.record("record");
      else
           streamObj.record("append");
      pubCount++;
    application.onUnpublish = function(clientObj,streamObj){
    trace("on unpublish : " + streamObj.type + ":" + streamObj.name);
    streamObj.record(false);
    2. You can do this by using dynamic streaming. You'll find more information here : http://www.adobe.com/devnet/adobe-media-server/articles/dynstream_advanced_pt1.html
    3. You can get various viewer stats using admin APIs. Full reference of the APIs available here : http://help.adobe.com/en_US/FlashMediaServer/3.5_Server_Management_ASD/flashmediaserver_3. 5_administrationapi.pdf. getAppStats() may be particularly useful.
    Hope this helps. Please let me know if you have any other queries.
    Thanks,
    Apurva
