IWeb site showing Shape Outlines on Links

Hello All!
I just uploaded my new website up on our Silicon Valley Web Hosting server (the URL is www.CinemaShorts.com) and I just noticed something kind of funny and wondered if it's something I can fix.
I created this website using iWeb and originally posted it on my .Mac account to work out the bugs which got me to the final version which is still posted at:
http://web.mac.com/cinemashorts/iWeb/PopDVD/Welcome.html
I juts checked our website as hosted on SVWH/CinemaShorts.com and on both Firefox and Netscape browsers I noticed that both are inserting boxes or outlines around all of my link buttons, but the outlines aren't there on either Firefox or Netscape when you call-up the website hosted by web.mac.com (identical website so it's not a browser malfunction).
Does iWeb generate some sort of code to turn-off borders around shapes?
Is this something I can fix?
Thanks!
Mark

there is a gap in the text where the pic should be showing.
Oh, here's is your gap. Empty carriage returns.

It reminds me of the days when Word users did that to force a new page instead of inserting a new page command. They probably still do that.

  • Can My iWeb site show a different homepage when used on iPhone?

    Hey all.
    My problem started when I decided to use iframe on a site that i am making for a restaurant. The site needs to work well on a computer as well as a mobile device. Everything works well, but i realized that iframe is not supported on the iOS safari. I doubt there is a solution for that, but if there is please let me know. I figured it would be easiest to simply make a duplicated homepage for the iphone users, but instead of iframe post a picture or something. *On wordpress i used a plug-in to show a different homepage on a mobile device, but on iWeb i can't figure out a solution. Also, if there is a way to edit the iframe HTML to show an image on the mobile browser instead of the actuale frame it would be very useful too.* Thank you, I need all the help I can get

    I haven't an iPhone or iPad but use the simulator instead.
    It loads webpages with the <iframe> element perfectly.
    iWeb uses the <iframe> for anything you paste in the HTML Snippet.
    If the iPhone or iPad doesn't support <iframe> most iWeb pages wouldn't display.
    You can test for an iPhone/iPad/iPod touch with this script :
    <script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript">
    <!--
    var agent=navigator.userAgent.toLowerCase();
    // iPhone and iPod touch are both 'iphone'
    var is_iphone = (agent.indexOf('iphone')!=-1);
    var is_ipad = (agent.indexOf('ipad')!=-1);
    alert("iphone = " + is_iphone + "
    ipad = " + is_ipad );
    if (is_iphone || is_ipad) { top.window.location = "http://www.apple.com"; }
    // -->
    </script>
    Paste it in the HTML Snippet.
    Use your own destination and remove the alert.

  • Link to other published web folder from within password protected iWeb site

    I realise that you cannot password protect an iWeb site if it contains a link to an external page / file. However, I have a complex genealogy site that I had previously published to another site. I directly copied this folder to the iWeb directory alongside the folder for the protected site published from iWeb. I have tried all sorts of link URLs on the protected site page, trying to link to the genealogy index.html file. iWeb refuses to allow password protection or even point correctly to the site.
    Does anyone know how to create a suitable link to a site folder created elsewhere?

    I have a password protected site with a page that has a link to an ordinary homepage.mac.com page, with no problems. Could you provide more details on what is not working for you? Maybe putting your geneology folder in iDisk/Sites and linking to that would help?

  • IWeb site loses functionality (Slide Show and Click to Enlarge)

    I have three iWeb sites, to which I have added Slide Show and Click to Enlarge features on Photo pages. They are all published via web.mac.com.
    Two of them lost these abilities after about a week, although the cursor still changes from an arrow to a hand when passing over Start Slideshow and the various pictures. The other site still functions normally.

    This first site works fine; Emma's Web Site and Ellen's Web Site do not. (Please see the links.)

  • How to link 2 iWeb sites

    I created two seperate sites and now want to combine them. This is my layout in iWeb--> http://home.cogeco.ca/~tarkin/iWeblayout.jpg
    How can I get the Camping 2006 site into the Our Photo Album site? I want a link at the top of the page to display along with the others, "Camping 2006" but I want the individual pages in Camping 2006 to only be accesible through Camping 2006 and not at the top of the page of Our Photo Album.
    whew!

    You cannot actually combine the two sites, but what you can do is create a page in the Our Photo Album site, and name it Camping 2006; (this way it will show up in the nav bar of the 'Our Photo Album' site); then, on that page, just create a link to the Camping 2006 site. A suggestion for the link would be to just place a main photo from the Camping site, on the Camping 2006 page, and then enable it as a hyperlink to to the site.

  • How can I make my SSL show up on my iweb site?

    Hi. So my website is: www.ymcacampbenson.org
    I recently purchased and am correctly running my SSL from GoDaddy.  They have confirmed that it is current and running.  They stated that I need to make the script in iWeb point to the secure site.
    Anyone know how I can make my site show up https?

    Here's some help from my friends at Google :
    Use SSL on a webserver :

  • How do I stop my iWeb site folder name from showing in the URL?

    I have looked through the forum but cannot find exactly what I need.
    I am sure there is a way to stop this from happening but I do not want my iWeb site name to show in the URL. Anyone else had this problem that can spread some light on the situation?
    Here is how it is showing:
    www.ilovehopetown.com/ILove_Hope_Town/The_Ultimate_Guide_To_HopeTown.html
    I want to to just be www.ilovehopetown.com and then the page name.
    Any help will be appreciated.
    Rob

    What happens if I leave Site name blank?
    Try it and see.
    If you are using iWeb 09, the right forum to ask things in is here:
    http://discussions.apple.com/forum.jspa?forumID=1309
    Two options you could try are naming your site the same as the default folder used by your sever (e.g. public_http or whatever) or forwarding www.myname.com to www.myname.com/sitename

  • Iweb site not showing up in firefox version 3.0

    i recently published my iweb site to a folder and put it up on a hosting site, it used to be at .mac, but well...
    anyway the photo album part of the pages is not showing up in the firefox at my work: 3.0
    but it works fine in safari...
    any suggestions?
    www.thebeautyseeker.com

    I'm having the same problem. I just published a blog with photo pages, but the photos do not load using Firefox 3.0. They show just fine using Safari. I've not tried it yet with Explorer, but friends who have logged in have not complained about not seeing the photos, so I suspect the problem is specific to Firefox.
    Anyone have an idea what the problem might be?

  • How do I get an iWeb site to show up on a google search?

    How do I get an iWeb site to show up on a google search?

    How soon will the GA page indicate that the code has been added and tracking started? I added the code to the my Demo and Tutorial Contents pages and GA still indicates that tracking hasn't been installed.
    I am using the full url to the analytics.js file in the HTML snippet:
    newScript.src = 'http://web.me.com/toad.hall/js/demoanalytics.js';
    The file shows up in the Activity window. I've done the same for the contents page of my tutorial site with the same results. The two sites are Tutorials and Demo.
    Any suggestions?

  • IWeb site registered but not showing up in Google

    I've registered my iweb site through google's webmaster tools using DNS since my domain name is registered through go daddy. I've also got an account for it on google analytics using iWeb SEO but when i search google for my site, nothing shows up. I've even typed my website in verbatim and I still get nothing.
    is there something else I need to do to get my site listed? I've started adding title tags and meta data to my most important pages (home and blog) to see if that would help. When I had my blog on wordpress and verified it through google webmaster it showed up the next day in search and i didn't even have to do any of the SEO like meta data.
    I feel like i've missed a step, or maybe iweb is not as easily indexed?
    HELP!

    Further information regarding the details would be helpful. However, if the site is unreachable it may be due to a known issue between GoDaddy and MobileMe. I spoke with tech support today regarding a similar issue with a iweb account that I have a DNS for through GoDaddy. The issue is being looked at by the support team and hopefully will be resolved quickly, but it I was advised that the issue appears to be from attacks on the iweb side which require the DNS address to be taken offline temporarily.

  • How do I link an iWeb site to a Yahoo store?

    Hi all,
    I designed an iWeb site for a friend, she is hosted at Yahoo Small Business. She also wanted to use Yahoo ecommerce does anyone know how to link an iWeb site to a Yahoo store? Yahoo uses store tags which they tell me can't be used in iWeb I was hoping to just link the ecommerce store I created in Yahoo to a store link in iWeb like a separate page. But I don't know how or if that will work. Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks
    Marilyn

    Hi,
    LOL, you are absolutely correct I am moaning and groaning and you are correct about the tech suport the reason I am so frustrated.
    The website is www.papeteriecollections.com (iWeb)
    The Yahoo store is store.papeteriecollections.com
    The yahoo store is set up to the point of store tags. I was able to link the store to the site itself but not the items in the store to the items in the website. That's where the tags come in. From yahoo I copied their code from the item and then pasted it into iWeb. The link worked from iWeb back to the yahoo store, but not after publishing it. So then I tried the (html snippet) in iWeb and pasted the store tag code in there at the bottom of one of the items in my site, and order button appeared. (good thing) but it didn't work either. please see below:
    I hope this makes better sense and I apologize for being a baby!
    Thanks
    Marilyn

  • Dead links in iWeb site - IE only

    I have just published my first iWeb site: www.envisioningchange.ca
    All seems to work great in Safari and Firefox (though plug-in for social media sharing "Add This" is down right now), however many of the links, some of them in the text (not just nav links) are dead when viewed in Internet Explorer. I have searched for a solution to this on various forums and have not found anything specific to this issue.
    Anybody able to help?
    Many thanks!

    Hi Roddy
    Thanks so much for the replies and the super informative links! Unfortunately, following the instructions to insert drop shadows before putting images into iWeb resulted in a slightly different appearance and alignment to the image...one I'm not totally pleased with. If it's the only thing that works, I may go that route. The thing is, each page seems to behave differently, so I am unconvinced that this is the problem, since each page has an image with drop shadow, but some have active links and others do not.
    I would rather not watermark the images for a few reasons. I'm actually rather pleased with the transparent overlay to prevent right-click downloading.
    I checked the site on IE this morning and did not see any of the text mis-alignment you mentioned. Any chance you could send a screenshot?
    Problem continues to be a mix of link issues, including seemingly randlom links that are completely dead (both external and internal links), some with only half the link active (need to move mouse over the whole text to find an active part).
    One thing I did notice this morning is that as the home page was loading the image, the split second before the image was up, the links were active. As soon as the image was up, the links were dead. And this was after I removed the drop shadow on that page!
    Any further thoughts would be most welcome!

  • Blog page in iweb site not responding or linking like other pages

    Hi
    This is a new issue for me. I have multiple pages that I created in my iweb site through my personal domain ... studio8films.net
    All page hyperlinks will work properly, but the BLOG page seems to stall and when I look at the bottom of the window it is trying to access www.me.com where ALL THE OTHER PAGES show the access to web.mac.com
    Can someone tell me why this is the case? It doesn't make sense. And it is a new issue.

    Furthermore ...
    When the BLOG page finally loads, I click on the 'add comment' and a message comes up that says 'We're sorry. We are having a problem processing your request.
    Is there something going on with mobile.me and iweb blog pages or is there something wrong on my end?

  • OLd iWeb site keeps showing up...

    Hi.
    I have published my site to replace the old one.
    When I visit the site in Safari, the old site shows up.
    I have cleared my cache
    I have used iDisk and deleted all the folders and files under the iWeb folder
    I then republish the new site
    I visit the site in Safari
    The old site shows up!
    The only thing that seesm to work is when the old site is displayed in Safari, I type a "?" and refresh and I get my new page.
    Does it take some time for the Mac servers to somehow deliver the new pages? The old pages are not in my iWeb app, or on the iDisk?
    Cheers
    JK

    You can empty the Safari cache but you have no control over what is served by your ISP.
    Placing a ? at the end of the URL in the Address window should "force" a fresh page.

  • Linking another URL to an existing iWeb site?

    Is it possible to link another URL that I have registered (with GoDaddy) so that it connects directly with the URL associated with my iWeb site?
    Thanks so much for any advice.
    Steve Pressman

    Use masked web forwarding and forward your domain name to web.me.com/username/sitename.
    If you have used CNAME forwarding once, then you need to use web forwarding for your other domain name.
