In one of our windows machine( OS : Windows Server 2008 Standard (Service Pack 2)-32bit), we are facing TIME_WAIT in all the TCP/IP ports and it is not getting closed.
On analyzing the issue, we found solution for this from the below link,
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2553549
In this page, we are able to get the hotfix for Windows Server2008 R2 SP1 but i can't able to get for Windows Server 2008 Standard SP2(32bit). If we try to apply the hotfix vailable for SP1, it is showing "The update does not apply to your System".
Kindly provide us the solution for solving TIME_WAIT issue in the machine.
OS Details : Microsoft Windows Server 2008 Standard
Version : 6.0.6002 SP2 Build 6002
System Type : 32 bit(x86-based PC)
Awaiting for the response.

Unable to connect to database; verify that database TCP/IP port service is
Hi i have a problem with a few servers when i'm trying to upgrade from SAP 2007 SP00 PL47 to SAP 2007 SP1 PL06, i run the upgrade for SBO-COMMON and gives me the message Unable to connect to database; verify that database TCP/IP port service is started, and i don't know why, i hope you can help me.
JulietaHi,
Ensure that the connection to the database is configured properly.
1. Check that the TCP/IP port is not being blocked by a Firewall.
2. Set the Server's Remote Connection to accept TCP/IP connections.
Microsoft SQL Server 2005 -> Configuration Tools -> SQL Server Surface Area Configuration -> Server Surface Area Configuration for Services and Connections -> MSSQLSERVER -> Database Engine -> Remote Connections
Restart the 'SQL Server (MSSQLSERVER)', and run the upgrade again.
Hope this will resolve your issue ! -
How to free tcp/ip port in Mac OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard
weeks ago i installed graboid on my imac and it's having trouble downloading files. this is what appears whenever i open graboid:
+SABnzbd.py 0.4.6 failed to start.+
+The Graboid Download Manager needs a free tcp/ip port for its internal web service.+
+Port 11234 on localhost was tried , but it is not available.+
+Please ensure that your firewall grants access to GraboidDLManager.exe and port 11234 and 119 aren't blocked.+
+Some other software may be using the port or the download manager is already running.+
+Please verify that another instance of the download manager is not already running. To do this, press CTRLShiftEsc or open your task manager. Make sure the Processes tab is selected and look for "GraboidDLManager.exe" in the list. If it is there, click on it and then press the "End Process" button. After that, please restart Graboid.+
+Open a Terminal window and type the line (example):+
+/Applications/SABnzbd.app/Contents/Resources/SABnzbd.py --server localhost:11235+
+Open a Terminal window and type the line (example):+
+/Applications/SABnzbd.app/Contents/Resources/SABnzbd.py --server localhost:11235+
"/>
how do i free a port in snow leopard? i already allowed incoming connections from graboid in my security preferences but still it wouldn't work. help please. thanksDo you use a router to connect to the internet? If so the port needs to be mapped to your local machine.

Which TCP/IP ports do I have to open in order to get communication
I have an enterprise portal. based on EHP1 and I want to patch it. So I need to connect it to Solution manager.
However systems are in different networks.
I wander which TCP/IP ports do I have to open in order to get communication between the two systems.
I am trying to fid documentation for this case but every documentation asumes systems are in same networkIt's fascinating that that document hasn't been replaced/updated in five years. Regardless, I've noticed an inconsistency in how they list the needed ports.
For example, they mention that port 5nn13 is needed for (I think) the Netweaver Start Service, and mention that the nn should be replaced with the instance number (00-99). That's one hundred ports (50013, 50113, 50213, ... 59913). Yet, in the "Range" column, they significantly mis-describe that as 50013-59913, which adds another 9801 completely unnecessary holes to put into a firewall. (e.g. 50026, 51058, 53077, etc etc)
They do that for most of the ranges they use that nn shorthand with... 5nn00, 5nn01, 5nn14, 5nn16, etc.
In short, following the description they give in the "Range" column will have one opening thousands upon thousands of unnecessary holes in the firewall. -

I've solved the problem. I think while doing kernel or component upgrade SAP clear all configuration that connected from ABAP and JAVA. You can re-config from config tool.
1. Goto \usr\sap\<SID>\<SIst.Num>\j2ee\configtool and execute go.bat
2. cluster-data -> global server configuration -> services -> com.sap.security.core.ume.service.
3. Configure:
ume.login.guest_user.uniquefields with J2EE_GUEST, and make sure the user is already exist in ABAP
ume.persistence.data_source_configuration dataSourceConfiguration_abap.xml
ume.r3.connection.master.ashost
ume.r3.connection.master.client
ume.r3.connection.master.passwd : with SAPJSF user's password
ume.r3.connection.master.sysnr
ume.r3.connection.master.user : SAPJSF User

Not receiving all data across tcp/ip port
Hi,
i am trying to transfer data across a tcp/ip port. the data is in binary and is reliable when small amounts of data is passed. it starts to fail when i try to transfer around 10000 bits and it is random(sometimes i get more or lest data when requesting the same amount). any advice on what to do. i attached the vi so you could see the code but it won't run unless you edit the ip and port to work with your settings.
thanks

Here is a Developer Zone article that explains more about TCP communication. Is your code set up similar to these examples? Are you able to run a TCP example from the LabVIEW Example Finder?

Hi Samarjit,
you can do this by specifying the port number in the class map that you create . Please find the below mentioend config guide where you can specify the tcp/udp port , range or ports or even the wild card to match the port.

Securing RPC services with TCP Wrappers
Hello All,
I have two node cluster running solaris 10. Since SVM needs few rpc services like metad, metamedd and metamhd, I dont want to disable them. But at the same time, wants to block them from outside world.
But readme page of TCP Wrappers (http://www.sunfreeware.com/README.tcpwrappers) says "The wrappers do not work with RPC services over TCP. These services are registered as rpc/tcp in the inetd configuration file". And other internet sources says same. So my question is this valid still?. Or it is possible to filter RPC services using TCP Wrappers.
When I tested this with following entries in /etc/hosts.allow and /etc/hosts.deny, my two nodes did not give any trouble after couple of reboots. SVM is working fine. So I wonder whether RPC services area really blocked (other than the local host) or not.
Content of /etc/hosts.deny
===========================
rpcbind: ALL : severity debug
rpc.metad: ALL : severity debug
rpc.metamhd: ALL : severity debug
rpc.metamedd: ALL : severity debug
rpc.metacld: ALL : severity debug
Content of /etc/hosts.allow
=======================================
rpcbind: KNOWN : severity debug
rpc.metad: localhost : severity debug
rpc.metamhd: localhost : severity debug
rpc.metamedd: localhost : severity debug
rpc.metacld: localhost : severity debug
Any hints/information regarding this will be really appreciated.Hello Mark,
Sorry that I missed to thank you in your last post.
If I get it right, The RPC bind program is used to maintain a table of dynamically allocated ports for RPC-based services.
From internet, "The file /etc/rpc contains a list of network services. Typically, when a remote machine wants to connect to one of those services on your machine, it first issues a query to the rpcbind program running on your computer. It knows the name of the services it wants to connect with, but doesn't know what port number to use. Your rpcbind will respond with a port number. The remote host will then attempt a connection to the specified port."
Also, Note that blocking rpcbind doesn't block access to the/etc/rpc services altogether. It does block access for those programs which do an rpcinfo query in order to reach those services. So other possible ways also exist to make remote connection without querying. Here lies the problem. I wanted to secure RPC services completely.
Coming to metad, it is true that ldd will result nothing related to libwrap*. But inetadm tells different story
inetadm -l /network/rpc/meta | grep -i wrap
default tcp_wrappers=TRUE
So encapsulating with tcpd should work for metad and other RPC services, I believe.
What is your opinion on this?. -
Connecting to labview over TCP/IP port
I have got an undocumented project to maintain, it has a Java UI code, which connects with some component of LABVIEW over
TCP/IP Port = 1234
and over this port it sends commands for clear, get, set
I need links for understanding the component from LABVIEW which is been accessed over port 1234
I have installed LABVIEW Run time 2013, and do not know which PROCESS the Java code is trying to connect over TCP/IP, and I do not see any of the RT processes binding to port 1234.
Any pointers/links would certainly help me!
Thanks,
-VikrantCan you define what you mean by "component of LabVIEW"?
The LabVIEW runtime engine is just a required component to run any custom build LabVIEW executable or dll. So, what is it?
You also mention RT processes. Does this run on an RT system? What is running where? If you are connecting to a remove LabVIEW RT system that runs a service on port 1234, you don't need LabVIEW or a run time engine at all on the local side.
At this time we don't have any useful information from you. Please be significantly more detailed! Thanks.

Investigation : Healthservice.exe
was flooding all TCP “ephemeral ports” from 49152 to 65535, generating a TCP/IP port exhaustion, while trying to login into the SQL Database. After I disabled the System

Background : Server hosts Sharepoint SQL databases. SCOM Agent 2007 R2 with CU4 is installed.
Thanks, Harry :-)Hi,
May I know if there was any changes before the issue occurred, such as MP imported?
Regarding the error, please check it referring to the following post:

Can I use the second TCP / IP port on my cRIO to drive a meter Agilent
I would like to use the second TCP / IP port of my NI cRIO-9024 to control my Agilent 33210A pulse generator with VISA TCP/IP.
My Agilent has only TCP/IP and GPIB ports.
Is it possible?
cordiallyAll the MACs (from my old 2006 PPC Mini) will auto detect ethernet crossover and straight through and rollover cables correctly. They should be Auto-MDIX.
Having said that, the FW800 (via TB) and Ethernet should be very close in terms of performance. -

Switching off unused J2EE services
Hi there!
I have a question regarding J2EE services. We all know SAP J2EE WAS is a very rich implementation but... Suppose you don't need a bunch of those services, and you would like to maximize your box performance. Beside "common" way of tuning, could switching off unused services be an option? (e.g. I don't use web dynpro, so why keepin' it up?)
Technically speaking, how difficult is it in your opinion? Specifally in finding services' dependencies?
Politically speaking, and contract and license wise, is it feasible? Will SAP still support me on services that are still swtiched on? (Given that they don't malfunction because of one the service I have switched off, of course...)
I am referring to a NW CE instance, particularly.
Thanks for sharing your opinion.
Cheers,
AlexHi Alex,
For 7.0, there is the note https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/871394 - but it seems there is no note for 7.1.
Even the 7.0-note is old and has entries not existing any more and does not cover all services existing meanwhile; some entries are also not helpful and leading into the wrong direction, so one should read the Excel-File very carefully and should know what one is doing if turning off services...
The bad news is that (solely) turning off the (superfluous) services, at least if you have a portal running (on 7.0), this does not decrease the startup time very much. I'm just digging deeper for more ways to optimize this, and also hoped shutting down the services would help efficiently, but... :-|
