JAAS in Websphere 6.1

Hi,
Im trying to develop a User Registry implementation (JAAS) for Websphere 6.1, but I need to implement the com.ibm.websphere.security.UserRegistry interface and this interface (and all that it needs) is in sas.jar and the wssec.jar at websphere_install/lib (according IBM support site). I downloaded the trial version of Websphere 6.1 from IBM web site and I cant find this jars. Does anyone know where can I find this jars ?
thanks in advance,
Sergio Stateri Jr.

Yes, I get the WebLogic Principal based on the JAAS LoginContext (l is a
LoginContext object in the sample code):
// convert JAAS authenticated user to a Java Principal
Principal p = new
User(l.getSubject().getAuthenticatedUser().getName());

Hi
We are using JAAS for authentication in WLS 6.1 SP2
I am using Authenticate.authenticate() for authentication in
the login(). I am not able to get the Subject from the
LoginContext. Has anyone been able to do this.
Also has anyone tried attaching the principal to the Session
after using JAAS for authentication. This will require calling
one of the weak() methods. But what is the best place to do this.
Should it be in the client code or the LoginModule. In the
LoginModule there will be additional problem of passing the
request/session.
Thanks
Mukul

  • How to Set Up SSO Between IBM WebSphere and SAP EP Using JAAS

    Hi
    I have read the article on SDN called "How to Set Up SSO Between IBM WebSphere and SAP EP Using JAAS", which is also the name of my posting.
    The reason why I post this is that I've tried to follow the links in the PDF to get the file WebsphereEpSsoLib.zip but I get an error 403, which tells me that the file is not there.
    Does anybody know where this file went or can somebody tell me an alternative place to get this file?
    Jacob

    Please open the associated whitepaper, and you can find the download link to the .ZIP file on page 4.
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/com.sap.km.cm.docs/library/ibm/how to set up single sign-on between an ibm websphere portal and the sap enterprise portal using jaas.pdf
    Hope that works!

  • Websphere EJB/JAAS interoperability failure

    Greetings all,
    I am attempting to deploy 2 applications on my Websphere server.
    The first contains a Servlet in a Web Module that performs JAAS authentication using Websphere's WSLogin class. The second contains an EJB in an EJB Module, which invokes the getCallerPrincipal method and performs some application based logic based on the result. The servlet code contacts the EJB after its JAAS authentication phase, and invokes the method in which getCallerPrincipal is called.
    My current status is: JAAS authentication is succeeding. I receive a valid Subject in which there is a valid Principal that corresponds to the username and password input WSLogin expects. EJB contact also succeeds, and my method is invoked. However, getCallerPrincipal, which I expect to return me the Principal successfully authenticated via JAAS, always and only returns Websphere's default 'UNAUTHENTICATED' principal.
    There is nothing helpful in the log files. I have spent a great deal of time in configuration, but I'm sure I could have made some mistake along the way.
    Does anyone have any clue about the above error?
    Has anyone successfully deployed a Websphere solution involving EJB-JAAS interoperability? If so, what were the critical elements to your solution/deployment?
    Thanks very much in advance,
    Peter

    hi peter,
    can u post a sample servlet-jaas example alongwith the policy files which you can deploy on websphere 5 version?
    it would be great to know how you did it...

  • WebSphere 5.1 and JAAS

    Does configuring JAAS Application Login in the administration console help the web sphere application server container intercept any request that is sent by the webserver to the application server.
    How do we make sure a JAAS login module always intercepts the request coming to the WAS?

    Dont think that WAS 5 offers a pluggable JAAS interface. Instead they offer TAI (trust association interceptors) for authentication and Custom realm for authorization.
    What you can do is to deploy you custom login module on another app server, like tomcat, and let that do the authentication. Then forward the userid to the WAS using the TAI interface. This will propagate the crendentials from you loginmodule to the WAS security manager.
    It requires that you implement the TAI, run the WAS with security turned on, handle the the forwarding in a secure fasion from you login module to the TAI.
    You should note that the TAI might have som limitations on not beeing able to do a negotiation (using httpservletresponse).

  • How to use GSS and JAAS with kerberos

    Hi,
    I am new to this subject, I have setup a kerberos server on win 2000, and i have registered my other servers to it, this setup works fine , now what i have to do is the following
    1, Display a HTML page where i will take the user id and password for domain 1,
    2 Validate this user id and password using JAAS
    3 Create a connection object with domain 2, (which is AS400)
    So how do i setup my websphere to do so, also can any one provide java code to get GSS credentials and create connection to any other server
    Ashish

    Look for "Single Sign-on Using Kerberos in Java" in google or on Sun's web site. Maybe this paper will help you.

  • JAAS-Seciruty without j_security_check

    Hi,
    I would like to change my JAAS-based J2EE Application, so that the authentication is no more made using the standard servlet j_security_check, because I would like to get control of the login-context, for instance for logout.
    Is this possible ?
    How to make that?
    Do you know any guides, links?
    Thanx
    best regards
    anis

    I don't know if there is a standard way web applications handle security programattically other than j_security_check. In websphere, you can do something like:
    javax.security.auth.login.LoginContext lc = null;
    try {
       lc=new javax.security.auth.login.LoginContext("WSLogin", new com.ibm.websphere.security.auth.callback.WSCallbackHandlerImpl("userid","password"));
    catch (javax.security.auth.login.LoginException e) {
      //could not instantiate Login Context
    if (lc != null) {
       try{
          lc.login();
       catch (javax.security.auth.login.LoginException e) {
       //login failed
    For logging out using j_security_check you could also invalidate session, and the user would be logged out and the session itself would be cleared up on web application server.

  • Websphere Portal Integration Kit

    Hi,
    I have gone thru the Websphere PIK and notice that the Authentication method that it supports is either secEnterprise or secLDAP with Siteminder. Can we integrate with Windows AD and single sign on for Webphere PIK?
    thanks and regards

    HI
    AUTigerFan could you or anyone possible offer some detailed help on how to tweek the releavant files mentioned i nyour message.  I appear to have a similar setup to what you described and would appreciate your comments.
    I have the following set up in a standalone lab environment server:
    Windows 2003 Enterprise Server
    IBM WebSphere Portal 6.1.x
    Sun ONE Directory Server
    Business Objects Enterprise XI Rel 2
    Portal Kit Rel 2 installed together with the files from
    JAAS SSO Enablement Extension for IBM WebSphere (BOLoginModule.jar and sso.jar)
    I followed quite clearly all of the indications in the documentation and when i configure the portlet kit web.xml file with secEnteprise  no user name or password.  I can sucessfully conect to the  Document List portlet with any account that exists in LDAP Repository as well as BOEbut can only acces what ever the guest account has access to in BOE.
    The BOLoginModule.jar is configured as per all the documentation  ie in the wp_profile session I create shared files for jar files indicated together with the new LoginModule, I also added the new parameters where I activated the type of authentication to secLDAP but it does not appear to  make any difference.
    Upon closer inspection of the BOLoginModule.class it would appear to have under the DefaultCMS the secEnterprise type authentication together with the guess account without password.  Which would explain why the only conecction allowed is secEnterprise.
    I want to be able to activate SSO access to all the different users registered in BOE and Directory server using secLDAP authentiacion.
    Has any one had any success implementing secLDAP authentication.  I am even now considering bypassing Portal altogether and incorporating CAS authentication as a workaround to implementing SSO between IBM Portal and BOE.
    Any help would be gretaly appreciated.
    Best regards
    Gaston

  • LDAP, JAAS and iPlanet on WLS8.1

    Hello,
    I have implemented JAAS which authenticates against LDAP set up in iPlanet on WLS8.1. The authentication part works, and I get back the Subject via logincontext.getSubject(). I want to be able to get the User's firstname and surname from LDAP. Could someone please point me in the write direction. I am using the weblogic.security.auth.login.UsernamePasswordLoginModule to authenticate.
    Thanks, Jackie.

  • What's the point of Weblogic JAAS authentication?

    Hello, I'm looking into one way authentication using weblogic and JAAS,
    Weblogic say this is the preferred mechanism, however I can't see the
    advantages. My (ok, limited) understanding of it is thus:
    The advantage of JAAS is that you can specify different login modules to
    utilise different types of authentication. However authentication to a
    weblogic server will only work by calling
    weblogic.security.auth.Authenticate.authenticate (due to weblogic's own
    implementation of the javax.security.auth. classes), thus only one
    loginmodule is available.
    The ability to use different authentication types is provided by the
    application server by using/creating different realms. The client possibly
    being able to specify different authentication by one of the arguments to a
    custom realm(?).
    Thus why bother with JAAS seeing that it doesn't seem to offer anything
    extra over JNDI authentication and requires more code?
    Thanks, any ideas appreciated.

    Good point.

    This may not apply to you, but I have to consider the need to remain
    portable between different vendor's application servers. WebLogic's
    proprietary realm architecture makes it a pain to get up and going in a
    Websphere or a Oracle AS. So I see that as a major advantage.

  • Problem with JAAS logout

    Hi!
    I've got the problem, that I want to test my security implementation by the help of JUnit tests.
    Therefore a user gets authenticated (JAAS based authentication)to the system and tries do commit some actions. To get the identification of the calling user I call the SessionContext.getCallerPrincipal() method within a stateless session bean. This is working in the way it has to until I try to log out the user and relogin with another one (this is done within one TestCase several times..)
    Unfortunately (even after a call to the LoginContext.logout() method) the SessionContext.getCallerPrincipal() method returns for the whole JUnit-test only the first authenticated user.
    Does anybody has an idea what I need to do to get the SessionContext from the bean changed every time I call the LoginContext.logout() method?
    Thx for your answers
    Andreas

    Hi Andreas,
    We are having exactly the same problem that you have mentioned here, i.e we are not able to switch between users in the JUnit test. Our Security JUnit tests are working properly on JBoss and Websphere but are not working on Weblogic because of this problem.
    Can you please let me know if you have found a solution or workaround for this problem.
    thanks,
    Raj

  • Problems with binding Object (JNDI/WebSphere)

    Hello.
    I'm trying to bind my objects on WebSphere Application Server 5.0 from stand-alone java application running on remote machine (IBM JRE).
    Java source code on remote JVM:
    Properties props = new Properties();
    props.put(Context.INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY, "com.ibm.websphere.naming.WsnInitialContextFactory");
    props.put(Context.PROVIDER_URL, corbaloc:iiop:tisproject:2811);
    final InitialContext ctx = new InitialContext(props);
    Object obj = ctx.lookup("");
    ctx.bind("MailService", new MailService());class MailService, of course, implements Serializable
    I also use property file on client side to connect to remote WAS: sas.client.props with following properties:
    com.ibm.CORBA.authenticationTarget=BasicAuth
    com.ibm.CORBA.loginSource=properties
    com.ibm.CORBA.loginUserid=wpsadmin
    com.ibm.CORBA.loginPassword=wpspassword

    Hi, I was wondering if you ever managed to resolve this issue. I am having a similar problem. I'm wanting to store an object in JDNI so that it can be referenced by all the servers in our distributed environmant. It works ok for me in mt developemt environment (RAD 6), but that is only because I have global security turned off, as soon as it's deployed to a server with global security turned on it doesn't work, I have read soo much over the past few days and have found that it is to do with the permissions that are set up in the admin console under Server>Environment>naming there are two roles here one is All_Users and the other is All_Authenticated, by default All_Users has read access only.
    This is as far as I have got at the moment, I am now looking at how to use these roles from my application without expecting the user of the app to log on, I have found some articles about using JAAS to do this, but I haven't found any good explanations about it or any good examples.
    Aside from that is you are just wanting to make your MailService globally available you should look at Dynamic caching, this is a Distributed Map API that will allow you to hold an object in the jndi Tree in a Map using a key, I have gone this route, but am still needing to know how to work with JNDI directly for storing objects.
    This is the code I am using:
    //lookup name given to the distributed map object
    private static final String JNDI_DIST_MAP_LOOKUP = "services/cache/distributedmap";
    private void cacheTree(Collection tree) {
              logger.debug("TreeNodeManager: cacheTree called");
              //TreeNodeManager.tree=tree;
              try {
                   DistributedMap distMap = (DistributedMap) getContext().lookup(
                             JNDI_DIST_MAP_LOOKUP);
                   if (logger.isDebugEnabled()) {
                        logger
                                  .debug("TreeNodeManager: cacheTree: Storing tree in distributedMap '"
                                            + JNDI_DIST_MAP_LOOKUP
                                            + "' using Key:'"
                                            + DIST_MAP_KEY + "'");
                   distMap.put(DIST_MAP_KEY, tree);
              } catch (NamingException e) {
                   logger.error(e);
         }

  • How to configure JAAS  in SAP Web AS 6.40

    Hi to all,
    We are migrating from IBM Websphere to SAP Web AS6.40
    The application on websphere uses JAAS for authentication of User.
    1. It has custom login module as follows:
    public class UPServiceLoginModule implements LoginModule
    2. The information about Login Configuration is mentioned in file Websphere's <b>wsjass.config</b> file.
    MyLoginModule
         com.mypackage.auth.UPServiceLoginModule
         required
         debug="true"
         serviceName="SecurityService";
    My question is how can we do this <b>JAAS settings on SAP Web AS</b>?
    I have read all the documents on SAP Library regarding developing Custom LoginModules, making its library and registring it on J2EE engine and then referring it in application.
    But we don't want our Login module to extend the Class <b>AbstractLoginModule</b> provided by SAP.

  • Use custom JAAS LoginModule without UME - possible?

    Hi all,
    I want to deploy an application that internally makes use of JAAS to authenticate users. There is a LoginModule that authenticates users against some database tables containing all the user data and profile. The application was not designed to be deployed to NetWeaver. So it does not make use of UME or some other NetWeaver specific feature. Actually it handles user management and authoroization issues completely on its own. The only reason for having JAAS is to allow customers to plug in their own LoginModule to use some other kind of user store.
    When deploying the web application to a simple servlet engine like Tomcat, all I have to do is to register my LoginModule in the "jaas.conf" file that is parsed by JAAS default implementation. I also tell the JVM where my jaas.conf file is located by appending a "-Djava..." runtime parameter to the JVM startup script.
    When using other application servers like IBM WebSphere things become a bit different. Normally you use the administration GUI of that server to configure your LoginModules. WebSphere for example keeps the login configuration in an internal database rather than writing everything into a "jaas.conf" text file. But the way the application can use the LoginModule is the same as in Tomcat.
    But when it comes to Netweaver, it seems to me that it's not possible to define a LoginModule that your application can use WITHOUT having to couple it tightly to UME. Or did I get something wrong? Initially I've tried to modify the JVM's parameters (using SAP J2EE Config Tool) to include the location of my "jaas.conf" file containing the my login configuration. But that did not work. The parameter was really passed to the JVM but anyway my LoginModule was not found, I guess that NetWeaver has some own implementation of the JAAS interfaces that just ignore the plain text JAAS configuration files (like WebSphere also does).
    The documentation that I have downloaded from SDN doesn't seem to match the 6.4 sneak preview version that I just downloaded some days ago. They say you should deploy your LoginModule as a library and add a refernce to the application. I tried that out but it did not help. The login configuration that the application wants to access is still not found. Actually there seems to be no way to specify the name for a JAAS Login Configuration in NetWeaver. At least I cound not find that in the documentation.
    So basically my question is: is it possible to deploy an application that wants to use some own LoginModule (either deployed separately or together with the application, that does not matter) without making use of Netweaver specific features like UME? The application has its own user management infrastructure and just needs a way to setup a JAAS Login Configuration to access its own LoginModule.
    Thanks for any reply
    Henning

  • When we should use JAAS?

    Hi
    Thank you for reading my post
    Is it suitable to use JAAS to design and develope a security and authentication framework?
    thanks

    I don't think there are clear guidelines available, however here is my view.
    1) OSB 11gR1 is not certified with Oracle JMS Adapter. It is certified with Oracle FTP, Database, AQ and application adapters.
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E21764_01/doc.1111/e15867/interop.htm#OSBAG1403
    2) In addition of the Weblogic JMS, OSB can also integrate with following provider without using adapter.
    - WebSphere MQ
    - Tibco EMS
    3) if you need to integrate JMS with BPEL Process or Oracle SOA suite composite, it has built in support for generic Oracle JMS adapter. Oracle generic JMS adapter can integrate with AQ JMS (JMS providers OJMS 8.1.7, 9.0.1.4, and 9.2), TIBCO JMS, IBM Websphere MQSeries (IBM MQSeries JMS 6.0), Weblogic JMS, Apache, and Active MQ
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E14571_01/integration.1111/e10231/adptr_jms.htm
    4) If you need to integrate OSB with Weblogic JMS, WebSphere MQ, Tbco EMS it does not need JMS adapter.
    Hope this helps !!!
