Jar file exception

I created a jar file for the following java class.
import javax.swing.*;
import java.awt.*;
import java.awt.event.*;
public class WMSMS extends JFrame{
     public native void SendSMS(boolean a,boolean b,String SMSC, String phno,String msg);
     static {
          try
               System.loadLibrary("WMSMS");
          catch (UnsatisfiedLinkError e)
               System.err.println("WMSMS.dll failed to load. \n" + e);
               System.exit(1);
    public WMSMS() {
         JPanel contentpanel=(JPanel)getContentPane();
           contentpanel.setLayout(null);
           final JLabel jl=new JLabel("Phone NO:");
           addelement(contentpanel, jl, 10, 20, 100, 20);
           final JTextField jtxt=new JTextField(10);
           addelement(contentpanel, jtxt, 80, 20, 100, 20);
           final JLabel jl2=new JLabel("Message:");
           addelement(contentpanel, jl2, 10, 50, 100, 20);
           final JTextField jtxt2=new JTextField(10);
           addelement(contentpanel, jtxt2, 80, 50, 100, 20);
          JButton btn=new JButton("Submit");
          addelement(contentpanel, btn, 10, 80, 100, 20);
        btn.addActionListener(new ActionListener() {
           public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent ae) {
                          SendSMS(false,true,"",jtxt.getText(),jtxt2.getText());
       setTitle("Sample");
       setSize(300, 300);
       setLocation(new Point(150,150));
       setDefaultCloseOperation(WindowConstants.EXIT_ON_CLOSE);
       setVisible(true);
private void addelement(Container c,Component e,int x,int y,int h,int w){
     e.setBounds(x, y, h, w);
     c.add(e);
public static void main (String[] args) {
   new WMSMS();
}I used the command :jar cvf WMSMS.jar WMSMS.classI created a shorcut lnk file using the the command:
*255#"\J9\PPRO11\bin\j9.exe" "-jcl:ppro11" -Djava.library.path=\Windows "-classpath" "\Program Files\WMSMS\WMSMS.jar" "WMSMS"*
to test the jar file in my windows mobile PDA.
I placed the 'WMSMS.dll' in VC++ under the \Windows folder in the device.But on clicking the link it shows the following exception.
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.UnsupportedClassVersionError: (WMSMS) bad major version at offset=6 at java.lang.ClassLoader.defineClassImpl(Native Method) at java.lang.ClassLoader.defineClass(Unknown Source) at java.security.SecureClassLoader.defineClass(Unknown Source) at java.net.URLClassLoader.findClassImpl(Unknown Source) at java.net.URLClassLoader$4.run(Unknown Source) at java.security.AccessController.doPrivileged(Unknown Source) at java.net.URLClassLoader.findClass(Unknown Source) at com.ibm.oti.vm.URLSystemClassLoader.findClass(Unknown Source)
Isnt this something related to jar file?

No. It is related to trying to run a JAR file produced by a later JDK than the one you have installed. As it says in the Javadoc..

    Please in the future do a search on the forum for your answer. If everyone asks the same question 10 times, then there is not one thread where a person can look, but 10 - each with a small piece. In fact, in this forum the second thread from the top answered your question/problem:
    http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jsp?forum=22&thread=141944
    (You have a few problems, one of which is that the manifest MUST be named "MANIFEST.MF", and it MUST be in the folder "META-INF" from the jar's root. For the rest of the answers, look at the above thread)

  • What are the basic .jar files to be set in web dynpro project classpath

    Hi,
    I am having a problem while customizing the ESS. I used DTR, DC and imported configuration. After that, I created project from one of the DC(say ess/jp/addr). Later when I open an iView from any Web Dynpro component, I am getting lot of errors without even making any modifications.
    I closed the project and reopened it and reload & rebuilt, but it doesn't solved my problem. In my classpath settings I couldn't find any jar files except the jre_lib. Could you please let me know what are the basic jar files we have to set in classpath and where to get them from. We are using NWDS 7.0.06 version.
    Can you please let me know how to solve this or any other way to work around this.

    i'm writing an application that connects to Oracles SCM. I use a lot of the oracle SCM library. Anyway, my application running in oracles jDeveloper works just fine. However when i deploy it to an executable jar file i get the above exception. In the deployment settings i have tried both using the dependency analyzer and including all content. I have selected all libraries that are used in running it within jdeveloper for the deployment. I have posted to the SCM forumn but noone there has any ideas so just wondering if its a problem with jdeveloper or if its just something stupid i've done.
    find the below the full exception im getting when i run the executable jar file. i'd appreciate any ideas/suggestions anyone may have

    This tutorial page for JNI API describes how and where Java looks for the dynamic libraries:

    I have tried putting my executable jar in the same folder as
    this dll and including the dll in my path but both to no avail.Again: you mix binary code and JVM byte code. They are loaded
    differently and located differently. classpath means nothing for the binary code.
    "The Win32 VM uses a search path that includes the current directory for the process or one of the directories listed in the PATH environment variable"
    The DLL may be either in the folder where the application (the JRE/JDK) runs, that is where java.exe is, or some other directory on the system PATH (according to the PATH system variable).

    These unknown references are sometimes released automatically, but sometimes not.
    And I get "Too many open files" exception after using my application for a few hours.
    The number of the unknown references increases as I access to my webwork or just hit on "F5" key on my browser to reload it.
    I tried different types of browsers to see if I could see any differences in consequence, and in fact it differed by the browser I used.
    When viewed by Internet Explorer it increased by 3 for every access.
    On the other hand it increased by 7 for each attempt when accessed by FireFox.
    I have already tried optimizing the max number of file discriptors, and it solved the "Too many open files" exception.
    But stil I'm wondering who actually is opening "tapestry-framework-4.1.1.jar" this many.
    Could anyone figure out what is going on?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
    Cause might The server got an exception while trying to accept client connections. It will try to backoff to aid recovery.
    The OS limit for the number of open file descriptor (FD limit) needs to be increased. Tune OS parameters that might help the server to accept more client connections (e.g. TCP accept back log).

    Doesn't look like a widely used app to me. I suppose trying to contact the creator of it is futile and that's why you're hoping for luck here. I wouldn't hold my breath.
    Or maybe you're the creator of it and this is a sneaky way of getting people to look at your product? Hmmm...

  • Fatal Exception occurred when trying to execute a JAR file

    Hi,
    I have compiled my project in a jar file with the purpose of having an 'almost' executable file that would run with a simple double click.
    When running this file from the netbeans directory, it works fine, but if I move this jar file to, say, my desktop, then I get an error:
    Fatal Exception occurred. Program will exit.
    Is this normal?
    basically, I would like to create a stand-alon file that I can send to other people who can run it on their machines
    Am I doing the right thing, or missing something?
    P.S I should add that my application needs to read contente from some txt files which are stored in my PC, but that is clearly speficied in the code
    thanks

    I found that if I copy the whole of the dist directory and subdirectories, it works fine. I guess that's what could not be found.
    just for my learning, is that the correct solution: basically send over the whole dist+subdirectories and have the program run from there?
    thanks

  • OutOfMemory Exception while running a JAR file

    Hi,
    I am working with Java 1.5 and using Eclipse to build a GUI. My application has intensive image loading involved so I set -Xmx inside Eclipse when running the application in debug mode.
    However, once a JAR file is exported, I do not know how to specify the heap size required to run the program. Is there a way to ...
    1. embed the heap size info inside the JAR file?
    2. specify a heap size when running the JAR file?
    Thanks in advance.

    Heap size is specified by the -Xmx option on the java command. See the java command documentation.
