  • Jasper exception? Class not found? But the resources are there!

    Hi, thanks for reading. I am building a simple web application. Just servlets and jsp working together to either retrieve or add or edit or delete data in a mysql database.
    The problem i have is, some servlets compile and run fine and properly, while others return me the 'jasper error' (see below) and class not found error. The code in these servlets (those that work, and those that don't) are almost identical. I've checked them a couple of times, does not seems like there is any problem with the programming at all.
    Please advise. Thanks for reading. If there is any files that you think i should upload, please let me know. Though it says class not found, the resources are there! What could be wrong? From the advice of someone on another thread, i've looked into the web.xml. And it looks like its right.
    If anyone is willing to look into the matter for me. I'll upload all the files. (But that feels really rude to just impose on someone like that). Irregardless, thanks, really.
    And what about the Jasper Exception? I've googled that already. But nothing that i found has been useful (even the official ones from apache).

    Thanks for the reply. I'm sorry for cross-posting. The other thread is here: http://forum.java.sun.com/post!reply.jspa?messageID=9920352#
    sunish_jose suggested that:
    The servlet classes u mentioned in web.xml should be in WEB-INF/classes. U can add in many ways, you can manually copy and paste(But u have to follow the package structure) or You can mention the class folderd in your editor to
    WEB-INF/classes so that the editor will automaticall generate the class file into that folder with the folder structure. By looking at the error.txt what I can understand is Exceptions are thrown due to the above issue and more than that there are some compilation errors in support_getContact.jsp.
    And i'm looking into that right now.

  • Jasper Reports Application Deployment to Oracle

    Hello everyone,
    I am deploying my project with jasper reports application to oracle. I have placed the jasperreports jar to .../10.1.3/j2ee/home/applib. When I do that I discovered that the commons-logging-1.0.2.jar of jasper is having conflict with oracle used commons-logging.jar. What is the best way to resolve this?
    For the mean time, I edited the server.xml so that only the jasper jar wil be loaded and I can see if my application is working. I does loads and executes but encounters the ff. errors:
    09/01/28 20:56:12 net.sf.jasperreports.engine.JRException: Error loading
    expression class : CashCollectionPrint_1226914856343_228291
    Is it because my application doesn't have a policy grant to load class files? I have checked the jazn.xml files and i don't know how to add policy grant. If that is really what's causing the jasper error, can anyone help me on giving my application a grant to load class files?
    Here are my environment details:
    Jasper reports version 2.0.4
    OS: Linux x86 (32 bit)
    DB: 10g R2
    The server instance is RUP6
    Thank you so much and I hope you can guide me in deploying my application.
    Rgs,
    Ish

    Hi all,
    I am stuck with a problem creating a dynamic report with jasper. I want to use data from a VO or binding, not via a select in my report. Here is were i am at right now:

    i++;
    iter.closeRowSetIterator();
    JRDataSource myDS = new JRBeanArrayDataSource(matrix);
    In my report i am using $F{HourFrom} to access my values, but i keep getting:

  • Building Tomcat source under Eclipse

    Hallo, all
    I want to study tomcat code and build Tomcat source under Eclipse IDE (Windows, JDK 142). I have readed the Guide on Tomcat web http://jakarta.apache.org/tomcat/tomcat-5.5-doc/building.html
    and downloaded the build.xml and try to run ant, ant will download needed package&#65292; i got the same error all the time, seemed that i do not have a CVS client? Who can give me some idea about building tamcat under eclipse, thanx!!!

    Go: Right Click on My Computer (on your desktop) -> Properties -> Advanced -> Environment Variables
    You should have JAVA_HOME set to something like C:\j2sdk1.4.1_05 and CATALINA_HOME set to something like C:\jakarta-tomcat-4.1.27. You don't need to set a classpath.

  • Directory structure in Tomcat for JSP

    I am new to JSP/Tomcat
    I have the following jsp page, classtest.jsp stored in %tomcat%webapps/myproject
    <html>
    <head>
    </head>
    <body>
    <%@ page import="com.clanda.mypack.*" %>
    <%
    Sayhi myhi = new Sayhi();
    int x = myhi.doSpeak();
    out.println(x);
    %>
    </body>
    </html>and the class file defining Sayhi is in %tomcat%webapps/myproject/WEB-INF/classes/com/clanda/mypack/Sayhi.class
    package mypack;
    public class Sayhi {
         public int doSpeak() {
              return 123;
    }I get the following Tomcat/Jasper error "Sayhi cannot be resolved to a type". I have run out of ideas? Can some one please put me right.
    Many thanks
    Bob

    You have defined your Sayhi class to be in the mypack package but you have put it under com/clanda/mypack/.
    Recompile your Sayhi class in the correct package:
    package com.clanda.mypack;Then replace the Sayhi .class file under %tomcat%webapps/myproject/WEB-INF/classes/com/clanda/mypack/

  • Trouble deploying on weblogic 8.1 SP5

    My application uses a UI tree component.
    We tested a simple application and deployment went fine. The app works fine.
    Then comes the real application which uses a tree component.
    It works (relatively) fine on the test application server that is included with the IDE. Well, except for the random "Cannot find component BodyTag" errors (not sure about the exact text of the message - Jasper errors)
    Deployment goes fine, but attempting to show the index page causes the following error:

    <there are other variables available in path, along with that I have added the j2sdk1.4.2_03\bin in path".
    So if u have any way out for it please let me know.

    I think you only need to add: c:\j2sdk1.4.2_01
    you have specified jre on the end of your path, it is not the jre that is required, but the jdk.
    If you are using startup.bat and shutdown.bat (or .sh on Linux) you can amend the files with a text editor (open the startup.bat in notepad), like so:
    @echo off
    set JAVA_HOME=c:\j2sdk1.4.2_01
    if "%OS%" == "Windows_NT" setlocal
    I this will start Tomcat with the correct settings, regardless of your environment settings.

    Have anyone experienced this problem?
    Thanks for your help.

    ummm seems odd to have 100 users making a report.. that can be the limitation of your application..

    Background:
    I got a web application (java 1.4.2,Struts ) contained in Tomcat 5.0 server running on a Linux OS ver. 2.6.8.
    The application works fine except when generating a report. It seems that the error is thrown during compilation
    of the jasper template as suggested from the line ....JasperCompileManager.compileReport(JasperCompileManager.java:195) listed
    above . I'm able to build the reports on Win 2K though.
    What else needs to be done on the Linux side? All i've done so far is to set the path for java in the env. variables.
    Have checked out varous sites/forums for solutions but so far still no luck. Your suggestions or assistance will be greatly appreciated.

    To solve this issue, start your java environment with the option -Djava.awt.headless=true.
    It solves the issue... if you google for "Linux"+"JasperReports"+"NoClassDefFoundError" you will find the background info on this issue.
    Thx,
    Rob

    hi,
    when i use the code
    if(st != null)st.close();
    if(con != null ) con.close();
    that works good ,the old error has been corrected.
    but it's now throwing an SQLException[b] "datasource name not found and default driver not specified" why this occurs and also can u give me the explanation for the old error????
    I am sure that i have created an user DSN, i am 100% sure about it .even though there is an error.
    Deepak.
