I want to display XHTML version of jasper report file as a part of JSP file. Report should be generated as per the input and display at the bottom of search criteria. How to do this. can i integrate jsperviewer as a part of jsp page.

im currently doing some research on jasper. Im totally new to this and wish if somebody can give some tips on how to start off..Below are some of my questions..
1. After compile and create the report design using iReport, does it means when we've got our XML response from server ,we just feed in the fields accordingly to the .jasper file we've created earlier on OR we have to concurrently design,and compile report and send XML request to server...
2. Can provide me with some ideas of how to generate jasper report in JSP where the whole process is inclusive of passing XML request to server..retrieving data..formatting..passing result set to XML response ...may i know when is the process of generating jasper start off in between of this?

i have developed a java code that could connect to the databse n compile xml code into jasper report. report is generated when it is executed in dos prompt. however i wan the report to appear after a button "print" in a jsp page is pressed. how do i do dat? how do i ask my jsp page to execute my curret java code to generate a report?

I am developing one small web application with the help of JSP and servlet. I want to use jasper reports in this. I am getting problem in creating jasper report. I have .jrxml format report. I want to embedd it in my jsp class. I am getting values from database by help of servlet. And then sending control in jsp page.I don't have any idea. I have download jasper ireport designer and cerated one report. Please tell me how to embedd it in jsp page.

Hi Manveer
From your servlet class you can create the Jasper report and send the url of the file to the JSP.
In your JSP you just give the link to that file.

Compilation error when i add jasper reports packages to my jsp file

hi all,
tell mi the solution its very urgent,
i have created a jasper report(for eg:ss.jrxml) if i wnt to add this report file to my jsp or servlet,i have to import some jasper reports packages and also adding that report file(jrxml file) to myjsp page in try block using jasperreport class.but,if i compiled this file or when i open this jsp file in web browser it shows error like
net.sf.jasperreports.engine.*(this is my one of report package used in my jsp) does not exist and jasperreport(this is one of class file in jasperreports to connect) cannot find symbol.
pls,help mi wat to do to support this packages while running in weblogic server.

To add libraries to your webapp you need to place the appropriate JARs in the */WEB-INF/lib * directory of your web application folder.
If you're using an IDE follow whatever are the appropriate steps to add libraries/ external JARs to your project.

In Application On click of CommandMenuItem(ExportToHTML)it opens the New Window,.While opnening this window i want to call a method (This method opens the jasper report in current browser)
I Tried the afterPhase and beforePhase for this but doesnt work for me.while executing this using beforePhase I'm getting following Exception :

Hi,
The view itself is a Web Part called an XSLT List View Web Part (XLV for short). This Web Part is stored on an ASPX page that is by default associated with a list or library on your site.
I suggest you can check if the view page is valid, also, you can try to create another view, then redirect to the view page to see if there is xslt in the page.

How to call Jasper Reports from a Servlet?

hi! i am a newbie in Jasper Reports. Can somebody tell me how i am supposed to let my jasper-created report appear in my web app? i am using JSP/Servlet framework, and basically what i need my app to happen is when i click on my View summary page button, my PDF-generated jasper report would automatically display without me having to save a pdf file in my disk. Opening new web page using servlet and jasper report. ?

I am developing one small web application and implementing jasper report in it. I am using jasper report with servlet. Which is generating one pdf file and displaying in same browser. But I want to open this report in new browser. Which is only display that report window. I am trying it. response.setContentType("application/pdf");

Use target attribute with link you have placed on you JSP page. [Look Here|http://www.w3schools.com/tags/att_a_target.asp]
Also remove Content-Disposition header if you want to open file in browser.
In latest browsers it might be possible you will see new tab opened rather then whole new browser window, This depends on browser settings.

How to run multiple sqls in one jasper report

Hello!
Is there any one that can help me in integrating/ viewing my xml file to the web. I have my GUI in jsp format, the jsp makes a call to the bean class and then finally bean class hit my reports java class.The report java class generates the report and shows it in the new window.
The problem is with writing mutiple sql queries and showing the result from multiple sql queires in one report.
I do not know how to write multiple queries for just 1 report. I can give a simple example of my problem also.
My report is as follows:
First Name Middle Name Last name
Sandeep Pathak
Now First and Middle Name come from 1st sql query and Last Name comes from 2nd sql query.
I want to join the result obtained from both the sql queries in one Jasper Report (not as 2 separate sections but as one section).
My problem is how to view my report in the web. furthermore, how to make complex query in jasperassistant, like multiple table in one query, because i�m integrating multiple query in one form or sheets of paper.
Please help me in this.

we never have issues when we combine standard objects, like a cliear with a load inforprovider, or the master data integration you mentioned in your document. However, from the moment we combine a script logic with a standard package (like a move) it does not work .The data package contains the task needed for the script and for the move. the process chain is called up but always comes in error in the first step (BPC modify dynamically ) ... there is also no log when checking the view status ...

Hi,
If you have placed your .jrxml file say in C:\reports, and when you use compileReportToFile(jrxmlFileName), then the jasper file will be created in the same directory C:\report with the same file name with .jasper extension. If you want a pdf report then specify the same location and file name with '.pdf' extension as destination .

I have been using NetBeans IDE 3.5.1. AndI am trying to execute one JSP file, but it is giving error and i am not able to execute the servlet files also in NetBeans IDE. Can anybody help me out regarding this...
