Java 1.5 - Using custom .jar packages

Hi,
For part of our Computer Science course we have a packge called cs2.jar which has all sorts of stack, deque etc classes in it. In my source code I insert:
import cs2.*;and my compile command is:
javac.exe -source 1.5 -classpath . %n%ewithin Ultraedit. I have placed the cs2.jar file in "C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_01\lib\ext" as per our lecture's instructions, but my programs still can't insantiate the objects in the .jar file. Am I doing something wrong? Any assistance would be great.
Cheers,
Glenn

You need to tell us the error message(s).

  • Add & use custom jars in "Java embedding" component

I need to generate pdf file in process.
So I included "Java embedding" component, and write my code. For clarity example:

document.close();Im using external jar file, of course I add it to classpath (right click soa project -> properties -> libraries and classpath ->add jar).
But I get folowing error (no during compilation, but during deploying):

The class path setting is incorrect.
Ensure that the class path is set correctly. If this happens on the server side, verify that the custom classes or jars which this BPEL process is depending on are deployed correctly. Also verify that the run time is using the same release/version.

  • Deploying java class that uses oraclexmlsql.jar

    Hi,
I'm trying to deploy a java class that I wrote. It simply gets some data out of my oracle database as xml using the oraclexmlsql package. It works fine when I compile it within JDeveloper.
When I try to deploy it JDeveloper gives out the following error:
    Errors in xmlquerydb:
ORA-29521: refferenced name oracle/xml/sql/query/OracleXMLQuery could not be found
    loadjava: 1 errors
I can't figure out why that happens. I have used other classes and deployed them as Java stored Procedure and they work fine.
    Thanks for help
    Andre

I tried to load the oraclexmlsql.jar into the shema where I put my class. The classes from this jar were loaded but can not be compiled( apart from 3 ). I also tried loading my class into sys but I still can't compile it or the oraclexmlsql.jar classes.
Is the xsu12.jar a collection of all the classes that are allready in Sys after the database install?
I have noticed that on expanding the oraclexmlsql.jar file has a strange format and two classes classes are in the directory from which I expanded the jar. These two classes do not get a synonym on loading into the db. Could that have anything to do with it?
    Thanks for more help

  • Not able to create a java class included in custom jar from script

    Hi,
We need to call a third-party web service from within SAP Sourcing and so we have created and deployed a custom JAR. However I am not able to create any of the custom classes included in this object. I have created a simple JAR file having just a "Hello World" message and got our BASIS team to deploy this (they deployed using the steps mentioned in Installation Guide Section 4.2.4 - we are using Sourcing Wave 9). I have added the required import statement in my test script and included this line:
    HelloWorld test = new HelloWorld();
When this script executes, it gives the error:
    Class:HelloWorld not found in namespace.
Can you please give your suggestions on how to fix this error?
    Thanks,
    Gayathri

The issue was fixed after including the custom jar in esourcing90/lib folder and redeploying

  • Deploying Java Desktop App using executable JAR files

    Hi there.
Today I am very optimistic about java. I am a beginner, and I had tried (in my few free time) to understand how to deploy java desktop apps.
I am using the lattest NetBeans IDE to do the programming and it is very very fast and optimized.
Going to the point, I tried some time ago to deploy an application (made with this IDE) using JAR files, but even though the application run well on my IDE, when I packed it, it rised an error saying that
    java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: org/netbeans/lib/awtextra/AbsoluteLayout
I was using an absolute layout on my JFrame forms and this AbsoluteLayout is provided by netbeans and not by the normal SDK.
I then looked for the absolute layout class and found a jar file in the following path:
    C:\netbeans\modules\ext\AbsoluteLayout.jar
So I mounted the Jar file in my File Systems and then added the contents of the file to myApp.Jar file.
I used the automated Jar Recipe Packaging feature of netbeans, that is why I needed to mount the AbsoluteLayout.jar file into my file systems.
Now it runs fine by just right clicking the MyApp.jar file from Windows Explorer.
In a next reply to this topic I will include some sample code so that anybody requiring to do such implementation can take this for help.
    Regards!
    JN

    Well,
I will take some time here to show the basic source code and procedure to create a desktop application, pack it up in a Jar file for deployment, add other classes or jars to the deployment jar file and finally open the jar file as an executable. This applies for either windows and linux environments.
Take in count i am using Netbeans IDE 3.x (3.5)
First I open the IDE and create a new project called MyDesktopApp. This is done by going to the menu Project / Project Manager. Then click on the New button and specify the project name and click on OK.
At this point, the Filesystems tab in the project explorer is empty. So I mount a directory to store myDesktopApp in it. I selected c:\MyDesktopApp but you can select any name you want.
To mount the directory you follow these steps:
    1. Right-click on File Systems
    2. From the contextual menu select Mount > Local Directory
    3. In the filechooser window, you just browse it and SELECT the directory to mount. Be aware that you can even create the directory on this window. Do not enter (double-click) into the directory you want to mount, just select it and click on finish...
4.Then the directory entry appears under the filesystems node of the project explorer.
Now you have to create your application. You can either create a package (special configured and tracked directory) or you can create the clases directly inside the directory. For tidy project, I will create the package.
To create the package follow these instructions:
    1. Right-click on the mounted directory and from the contextual menu select New > Java Package
    2. In the New Wizard - Java Package window, type the package name and click on finish. I use the "MyDesktopApp" as package name.
OK. Now the package is created under the mounted directory. Now we have to create the Main Class. In this case I will use a JFRAME as the main class but you can create any class you want.
To create the JFRAME as main class follow these steps:
    1. Right click on the java package you just created and select New>JFRAME from the contextual menu. If you do not see the JFRAME option on the NEW sub menu you will have to select the All Templates option. I explain the All Templates option now on, it will be easier to use the JFRAME if available. Once you use JFRAME with the all templates then the JFRAME will show up in further NEW usage.
    2. So finally we used the All Templates, and you select the Java GUI Forms > JFRAME form option and click on NEXT.
    3. Give it a name. (I used MyDesktopAppFrm) and click on finish. Be aware you can set advanced options by clicking on next. But for the purposes of this topic we will use default options so click on FINISH
    4. A new JFRAME form appears inside your package. Right click on the form and select Set layout > Absolute Layout.
    5. Add some controls and code. I added a label and a button. And coded the ActionPerformed event of the button to say hello! on the label. this is up to you. The code just looks as follows:
    private void jButton1ActionPerformed(java.awt.event.ActionEvent evt) {
// Add your handling code here:
    jLabel1.setText("Hello folks!");
    6. Compile and execute the form.
Let's say this is our Desktop Application. Now We will pack it in a Jar in two steps...
    A. Create a JAR file (Recipe)
    1. Right-click on your package and select New > All Tempaltes (Long Route) You can also select New > JAR Recipe if available.
    2. On the New Wizard Window, choose the JAR ARchives > JAR Recipe template and click on NEXT
    3. I used MyDesktopApp as the file name and Defaults and then click on Next.
    4. Specify the JAR Contents. Select the Package (not the mounted folder) from the mounted file system and click on add and then click on NEXT twice...
    5. On the JAR Manifest window, click on GENERATE
    6. Edit the manifest in the window to add the following code:
    Main-Class: MyDesktopApp.MyDesktopAppFrm
    7. Ensure the Main-Class definition is the same as your java package and JFRAME name. Click on FINISH
    8. At this point we have a jar file in your project directory but this file wont run because it is missing some Netbeans clases that we will add in the next set of steps... Just to check, compile the file (right click on the JAR file and compile) and try to execute. It must compile but must not execute.(well if it executes you are done. It may execute if you did not set the lay out of the form as AbsoluteLayout)
    B. Add the AbsoluteLayOut to the JAR
    1. Right click on File Systems and select Mount > Archive Files
    2. Look for your netbeans installation folder and select the following file:
    .../netbeans/modules/ext/AbsoluteLayout.jar
    3. Click on finish
    4. Now the JAR File is mounted in the file systems.
    5. Right-click on your MyDesktopApp.JAR file and select properties.
    6. Look for the contents property click once on it and then on its elipsis button [...]
    7. From the FileSystems box in the Contents window, select the AbsoluteLayOut file and click on Add
    8. Then the system asks you if you are sure. Of course you are so click OK. (If not sure, just read the message text and click OK...:-))
    9. Click on OK
    10. Compile your JAR Recipe (right click on it and Compile)
    11. Now you must be able to run the file by right clicking it and EXECUTE.
    12. Also you must be able to run the file by double clicking the file from a Windows Explorer. You may receive a message asking to select the program to run the file with. You must browse and select the Javaw.exe file in the bin directory of your Java RUn Time installation. This is typically located at C:\j2sdk1.4.0_01\jre\bin or something like that. Use the File-Search feature of window to locate the JAVAW.exe file if needed.
I hope this long explanation helps somebody to deploy Java Desktop applications. Please reply the message if it helps you just to know it was useful.
    Thanks for your time....

  • Use Custom Jar in Enterprise OBPM

    Hi,
We are using a JXL.jar(by importing the jar as an external resource) to create excel sheet. It is working correctly in the studio, but when we deploy it into the enterprise environment we get the below error:
Caused by: The task could not be successfully executed.
    Reason: 'java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: jxl/Workbook'.
    Caused by: jxl/Workbook
Can anybody let me know if there is something that needs to be done on the enterprise end to make this work?
    Thanks.

    Dan, Bitu,
I'm working with the original poster. The "'java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: jxl/Workbook'" error is observed (only) on our install of OBPM 10.3.1 Enterprise on WebLogic.
I do understand we can "force" the .jar to be loaded from WebLogic (thank you to Bitu's post on this thread, and also confirmed her java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError in OBPM sever ). However, that is not the ideal situation and we would like to troubleshoot at the OBPM level (why isn't the .jar loaded?)
Can you share with us what should normally happened when a .jar is deployed to the engine please? Should we expect an entry in the Directory (FUEGO_CATALOGJAR)? -- Because I currently don't see any JXL entry on this table.
I also observed that the versions 2.6.12 and 2.6.11 of the JXL api (that can be found here http://sourceforge.net/projects/jexcelapi/files/) cannot be introspected in Studio (throwing an error; I can share more details if needed), so we are using an older version. Can that be related perhaps?

  • Modifying JAR file using java.util.jar package  over the network

    Hello,
I am modifying a JAR file programmatically using java.util.jar package. The time taken to save the contents to a local disk is very less (around 1 sec) . When I tried modifying the JAR from a remote machine over the network (from mapped drive or shared folder of WIN NT), the time taken to save is 15-20 times more.
I am recreating the whole JAR while modifying. Is there any way to improve the performance. Or is it possible to write only the changed files?
    Thanks,
    Prasad Y S.

When you "update" a jar file, you must always recreate it from scratch.

  • Can I use axis.jar in my custom component

Can I use axis.jar in my custom component.
Is there any license need to user this jar ??
    Thanks

In our UCM setup axis has been implemented in a custom component to consume webservices. As Axis falls under the Apache license you can freely import it in your custom java classes.

  • Error adding package to class that is using a jar

    Hi,
I have a class that is using a jar but I need it to be in a package so I can use it with JSP, but each time I put the package in the class I get some compile errors that the classes in the jar can't be found.
    Example:

Checking another file, the problem is that if I'm
trying to use a class in the default package in
another class and put a package name in the class
then I can't use the default package. Is there any
workaround?Nope. Get in the habit now of making ALL of your classes belong to packages. The "no-package" is only for creating 'toy' applications with no dependencies from other packaged classes.

  • Using 3rd Party packages when creating jar - program doesn't run

I am using the xerces and xom packages for xml etc in my program.
It works fine when run from a command prompt, but as soon as I package it into a jar I get the java.lang.NoClassDefFound error for the nu.xom.Builder class (one of the 3rd party classes.)
Reading through these forums has yielded several suggestions, none of which work.
I am probably making some massive stupid mistake, but cannot see it...
    My manifest:
    Manifest-Version: 1.0
    Created-By: 1.6.0 (Sun Microsystems Inc.)
    Main-Class: be.bavardage.vocab.VocabGUI
    Class-Path: serializer.jar xercesImpl.jar xercesSamples.jar xml-apis.jar xom-1.1.jar
using the jar comand line prompt:
jar cfm vocab.jar MANIFEST.MF be\bavardage\vocab\*.classCan anyone give me any indication as to what I am doing wrong...

    bavardage,
I too am reading forum messages to try to do just what you originally wanted to do. I have 3rd party JARs and I have always first extracted them and then turned around and JAR'ed them up into my single Remote.jar (actually I'm so new to Java that I don't yet change things that aren't broken and this was working when I got it)
    jar  xf  jakarta-oro-2.0.5.jar
    jar  xf  jasperreports-1.2.1.jar
    jar  xf  iReport.jar
jar cmf  mainClassSpec  Remote.jar  *.class  org/  net/  it/I am reading the forums for a way to NOT do this. My reason is because I want to make the application Java Web Start (JAWS) capable. By zipping all the JARs up into one I end up with a JAR over 6 MB! I am also adding internationalization and I really need to keep the ListResourceBundle classes in a separate JAR so I can keep adding languages and not cause the entire 6 MB file to be downloaded each time.
Using Java Web Start is the real motivating force here. I need to keep all JARs separate so that when there are code changes or new languages only one small JAR will be downloaded again by JAWS not the huge iReport.jar file at 4,218KB nor the somewhat smaller jasperreports...jar at 1,225KB (at 64KB jakarta-oro...jar is hardly worth mentioning) .
I will watch this thread to see if you or anyone else later comes up with the information to reference external JARs (while in a Java Web Start environment).
So to put it in a question format, can anyone provide some information about referencing external JARs in a normal environment and will it work in a JAWS environment (I do know the technique for specifing and downloading multiple JARs in a JNLP file)?
    Hopi(ng)

  • What is best UI technology to use for custom business package

    Hi,
I have a requirement to develop a custom Business Package for Treasury in Finance. With my past experience I am leaning towards Web Dynpro for Java.
Client does not have any programming language consideration.
Is there any body who has done something like this ? Can some expert suggest me if my choice of Web Dynpro might not be good and why?

    Hi,
If you don't have complex business logics and lot of portal runtime interaction then webDynpro is the best choice considering the ease of development and look and feel.
But your answer to the question is yes then you can think of java iView development along with webDynpro.
    Thanks,
    Abdul Raheem S

  • An Exception.java is generated when use wsa.jar

I used wsa.jar(version:10.1.3) to parse WSDL file: http://api.rakuten.co.jp/rws/soap/GenreSearch/2007-04-11?wsdl ,and the generated java files contains Exception.java.
The Exception.java file is looks like: public class Exception extends Exception {...}, this would cause compile error.
Can somebody tell me why?Is it the bug of wsa.jar, and how to fix it.
    Thanks.

I would say it is a bug, because generated code is not valid. However, I have to say that WSDL file contains quite awkward naming.
    <message name="Exception">
    <part name="fault" element="tns:Exception"/>
</message>I tried wsdl2java from Axis2 to see the difference and generated class was ExceptionException.java. The result compiles but the class name is ugly.
Look at documentation for wsa.jar and try to find a switch for mapping that should help you to set a better name for Exception type. Maybe you will find something interesting here:

Ok. Please let me know when you are able to upload the .jar I have (packaged) to the Macintosh App Store if you would. Do you need a way to contact me? I don't know if I am able to place my email or main website here, and I don't check here often. We can work out a payment arrangement. Thank you.
